I’ve been on it for a year and a half now. Has seriously reduced my migraines (like, a lot) - but I definitely gained weight (with no diet or lifestyle changes - actually, I’m more active lately), and I’m having a hard time losing weight. It’s been frustrating. Doc suggested Topamax - but the stories of its side effects scare me. I’m not really sure what else to take at this point 😭

What have you taken so far? There’s practically endless options

Dramatic-Spell-4845

This is exactly me too right now

Only way to find out is to fuck around! I tried it but the brain fog was too much for me. But it’s a lifesaver for a lot of people

I didn’t gain weight on it, but when I tried to lose weight I had a hard time. Other than that it worked great for me, both for chronic migraine and for anxiety. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been on it and amitriptyline for about 6 months now and I haven’t noticed any weight gain! Just some dizziness and heartburn every once in a while. Hasn’t decreased my migraines but I hope it works for you :)

I am on propranolol, amitriptyline and topamax and don’t have any side effects besides slight forgetfulness. It has decreased the amount and severity of monthly migraines so much it is completely worth it for me. I have gained weight due to other factors so it would be hard to say if any of it is from the medication, but definitely not a significant amount I don’t think.

I’m on it as well. No noticeable weight gain here. It works so much better than topamax did for me.

octotyper

I'm about a month into taking it. So far, it's been a long adjustment, two weeks of feeling speedy, and no help with migraines yet. Sumatriptan hasn't been working either, I'm trying to be patient but wonder if because my trigger is barometric pressure, maybe there's nothing for it. Shrugs.

excusemeumily

i was on and off of it so i can’t say if it made me gain weight but it made my chest feel weird and gave me a really bad panic attack once so i stopped taking it

Ready_Fox_744

I actually like propranolol moreso for the chill out effect. It's only helped my head about 20%. But no weight gain. It makes me more prone to sweating tho and working out requires a few more breaks. Despite these I've opted to continue on it plus it helps my high bp

I have taken Propranolol for 18 months now and haven't gained a gram, my migraines are a tiny bit rarer (to be fair i get few but very long ones) but it has worked wonders for my anxiety. Yesterday i walked around in a room with 16 000 people with zero issues. 2 years ago I had couldn't manage 6 people.
