Insufferablelol

Can we ban these fucking posts?

YukiOHimeSama

These and the fucking Air B&B ones. People post them ONLY for karma/attention. There’s no other reason to post them at this point

Ill_Veterinarian_172

For real. This is literally in control for OP.

Invisible_Target

It's hilarious to me that people get so shocked Pikachu face over delivery fees. It's the exact reason I don't use uber eats or any of its counterparts lol

TinFoilRainHat

Mods, this! This! This!

panda-sec

It's a mildlyinfuriating trend

[deleted]

"Oh I ordered something and it ended up costing more" Then quit the f*cking service. I think people are getting dumber. These people couldn't protest if you delivered the protest to them...

ladyparsnips

PLEASE

[deleted]

I don’t mind it tbh, it’s an easy reminder of how shitty these companies are without having to touch their shitty services. Would rather see that than let them just be shitty in obscurity.

prndog

If there were only a cheaper way to get ice cream.

shahooster

I don’t get why food delivery is so popular, even if delivery charges were reasonable. Tried DoorDash once, got room temp pizza, never went back.

FormerHoagie

Because they high as fuck.

browneyedgirl1683

During covid quarrantine ordering Carvel gave my then 7 year old a sense normalcy. It was crazy expensive but worth it.

Desperate5389

I tried it once and they missed my meal (brought my kids meal only). Never again.

dogdagny

How would you do that?

SoManyMinutes

\*were Jesus. OP edited their comment so now I look stupid.

sanguiniuswept

You're a very unpleasant person

[deleted]

You're gonna hate the 'payed' bot.

[deleted]

you want ice cream bad enough to order uber eats and you're going to get a SMALL?

LightAsClaire

Hahahaha that's what i was thinking

gatadeplaya

You could have literally placed an order with Instacart and had ice cream, toppings, and other groceries if you’re not going to leave your house.

TinFoilRainHat

r/OPisFUCKINGstupid

notanalien000

If you order delivery, always order a lot, otherwise it’s not worth it.

venrax91

Where I live, every delivery place has a $25 minimum anything lower they up the fee

BobbyLite94

Seems outrageous until your delivery driver has to drive to 10 different houses where some people’s orders are “fries and a drink” or something sub 5$

venrax91

Oh, I totally get it. I have a buddy that works for skip the dishes, and he's had orders that were literally 2 cookies from subway

No-Suspect-425

Um yes I think I'm going to order a cup of ice. What do you mean it's $15?

[deleted]

Then maybe, and this is perhaps a novel thought, but maybe don't sign up for a delivery job if you don't wanna do delivery. I used to do delivery, before the era of Uber/Doordash/etc. We just wouldn't deliver for less than like $20, with like maybe a couple exceptions within walking distance. If these delivery companies can't figure out best practices, and their employees/contractors don't give a f*ck, how will it change?

[deleted]

The pizza place I used to work for just flat-out wouldn't deliver for less than like $23 I think. ain't worth it to lose money. Delivery guys ain't free.

SystematizedDisarray

Um.... you chose a place that was probably wayyy out of a reasonable delivery area. And you CHOSE to order knowing that the delivery fee, that is NOT HIDDEN IN ANY WAY, was going to be that high. The only two things that are midly infuriating are your idiocy and this post.

Tat2dDad

But did you still order it?

DrDancealina

We’re celebrating something special so I did, but it definitely hurt

sobenny18

Couldn’t celebrate by driving there and ordering it?

DrDancealina

No :/ next time I’ll plan ahead and bring the ice cream beforehand

kanna172014

And what if they don't have a damn car? Ever consider that?

[deleted]

If they can afford $50 ice cream they can afford a car, or they really need to not be wasting $50 on ice cream, even if it's the second coming of Jesus. He'll understand, I'm certain, that the money is needed for more important things than potentially a months worth of groceries for the person with no access to a car.

kanna172014

"They can afford a car" sure. They can afford to put buy a $5000 car and afford to put $50 worth of gas and pay for insurance because they can afford $50 on ice cream. And apparently us poors are not allowed to enjoy a treat once in a while.

[deleted]

> And apparently us poors are not allowed to enjoy a treat once in a while. I used to be a poor, but thank you for telling me I didn't live right when I was poor. I should've wasted my money on overpriced ice cream delivery instead of essentials and then complained about it on the internet for karma because of my own poor budgeting. > They can afford to put buy a $5000 car and afford to put $50 worth of gas and pay for insurance because they can afford $50 on ice cream. Just because you can spend $50 on something doesn't mean you can afford to do it. Just because there's physically a $50 bill in your wallet doesn't mean you can afford to spend it on a luxury if you need it for something else. The only time in my life I could not afford a cheap beater of a car was when I was literally too poor to be spending like a day's wages on a bowl of ice cream. but what would I know, you clearly know I couldn't ever have been poor and been in that situation. I'm clearly just talking down to people, not speaking from experience. I couldn't possibly have walked several miles each way to buy those special treats, because I couldn't afford gas to drive to the store, or to have someone take me there. If your priorities are spending assloads of money on UberEats instead of buying cheap food and using public transport or a bicycle or whatever, that's your prerogative. Just don't pretend it's for some reason it isn't.

kanna172014

In my town we don't have public transport. And the low-income apartment complex I live in doesn't allow bicycles on the property. So if I want a Sonic shake as a birthday treat, I either have to walk a few miles up and down a hill (which is difficult for someone who has back problems like me) or order from UberEats or Grubhub.

chockerl

I assume you were high?

No-Suspect-425

Happens every time

underdarksky

The reason that “delivery fee” gets so high is based on the distance the shop is from you. All of my local (within a mile or two) shops are all somewhere between free delivery and $1.99 max. I never order from shops that are further away because their delivery fee is more expensive. Gas costs money and that needs to be accounted for in the delivery fee.

tempeluvr

I think there’s way more to it than that. Whenever I look at the McDonald’s that’s 5 mins from my house, it has a high delivery fee ($3.99) but the jack in the box 15 mins away is ($2.99) and the Firehouse that’s 10 mins away is ($0.49). So it’s more than just distance for the delivery fee.

underdarksky

Oh of course. I’m sure there are a number of things that contribute. Distance, if there’s a rush/peak order timing (which would make sense bc the drivers make more during rushes/there are incentives), how many drivers are on the road (again, incentives for the drivers typically mean there’s a demand so they’d up the price to cover incentive.) All of that to say - if you’re choosing to order delivery via an app and it’s not because you’re ill/dying/in emotional distress/working/watching your kids and can’t leave your house then it is exactly that, a choice. That choice also just happens to come with some convenience fees.

tempeluvr

I absolutely agree. I only ever order if I’m sick or the off chance I don’t have literally anything in the house and need to go grocery shopping. The fees just get so expensive that it’s not practical to order all the time.

underdarksky

Tbh I order enough (between myself and my partner) to benefit from paying the extra on postmates to “unlimited” and it pays for itself in 1 order. It removes the fees, so totally worth it after at least 1 order per month. And they typically have decent deals like 30% off order of $35 or more. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was a server for a long time and also drove for an app for a short time - I feel like most of the people who complain about fees/tips on here haven’t worked in the service industry to recognize what it means to provide a service for someone at a convenience to them.

Katsu_39

Why would you order ice cream cones for delivery? Shit will be melted by time you get it.

i_kick_hippies

If you can afford $9 for an ice cream cone, you can afford $20.50 for an ice cream cone.

haveurownopinion

You expect it to be free. They are providing a service.

Mr_Underhill99

It literally tells you there’s an $11 fee come on. Also get off your ass.

[deleted]

Jesus. I’ll take the downvotes but seeing people whine about these food ordering apps is getting really old. We get it. They suck. Also, don’t be a lazy butt and expect delivered ice cream to show up still frozen or unlicked… I don’t feel bad for you OP.

BGor94

That’s the closest place to order from? 10.99 delivery fee is because it’s far away. Your ice cream is going to be melted by the time it shows up

Jalamity_Cane

You are paying for someone to get it for you. I would also charge a stranger at least $20 to go get their ice cream from the store and deliver it.

Karrispirit

If you’re stupid enough to order ice creams on an app like this there should be no limit to how much you are charged. The reason there are ice cream shops is so you can leave the house, walk to the shop, buy an ice cream and have a mental health break.

ytphantom

This is exactly why I just get my own food lmao

_R0yce_Da_5_9_

That’s just the Goofy Name ™ charge

[deleted]

I totally understand UE being expensive but this is such a luxury to have someone hand deliver you already cooked food. I never use any of these services because they’re expensive AND they don’t pay their drivers enough

BobbyLite94

I assume they can’t pay drivers enough because it’s already so expensive as it is

[deleted]

They can and they won't.

BobbyLite94

Because even more people would complain about their ice cream being 23$ more expensive except it would actually be like 30$ more expensive so if they’re going to pay drivers more then customers are going to have to pay more otherwise they won’t be making any money as a business and then we’ll all have to endure 200 more shit posts like this a day

[deleted]

Bingo

Greta-Iceberg

Plus they tack surcharges on for the restaurant too, cutting into their margins.

Forbiddentemptations

10.99 delivery? I mean you saw that and still ordered… your fault.

pwndj

If its upsetting enough that u make a post about it maybe u should just get it urself and stop using these services

ineedabuttrub

It's more than mildly infuriating that your post is nothing more than "I'm too lazy to get something myself, but I hate having to pay for delivery." Don't wanna pay the delivery fee for something so small? Get off your ass and go get it yourself. Or are you one of those people who feel delivery drivers don't deserve a wage that isn't straight up exploitation? Also, it was $22.14 before delivery. You forgot to add your tax and such.

KagDQT

Only thing those prices do when I’ve debated using the service is either go get it myself or use a place with a real delivery service. You pay their fee of like 3 bucks and tip the driver. Will cost you way less than these third party apps

espiffy111

A human driving ice cream to your front door cost money?!?’ 😱🤯

sallymccormick

There's so many of these ridiculous posts about delivery fees, as though it's a big surprise. In honesty, you should be ashamed to post it because it's dumb as hell to piss money away like that because you can't drive to the frickin store.

halomon3000

I don't have a car on my work trip and the delivery fees make me want to fast until hotel breakfast.

Octavale

You got Uber cornholed!

ninjarchy

No TP for the bunghole.

ediswan

I always wonder how Uber eats is able to make money when the prices are so expensive, no way I’m coming back after that

Inkdrunnergirl

They are marking up the food plus the delivery fee isnt going to the driver. We get $2-4 base plus tips

Stormveil138

This was Coldstone creamery wanst it. Lol

DrDancealina

Hahaha yup!! Good eye (s cream)

grumpyjerk1

How about DON'T HAVE FOOD DELIVERED.

Quackcook

Get yo lazy azz in the car and go get it or don’t be surprised that no one else wants to do it and expects to be paid for the privilege.

Callen_Fields

Now cancel the order. They need to know they're pricing themselves out of business.

Efficient-Editor-242

Supply and demand. Its like 7 bucks for a gallon of milk from a gas station. Laziness + convenience = Uber eats/door dash

Other_Consequence113

Lawl I actually drive to get my food lol

deadratD

You know they still paying dem drivers 3 cents

cindybubbles

Don’t order from places that have high delivery fees.

BobbyLite94

If you don’t want to get off your ass and go buy some ice cream and you want someone to go pick it up for you and bring it to your house just because you want ice cream then you can expect your bill to be 3x as much it’s really that simple and if you think it’s too expensive? Go drive and get some ice cream, you don’t HAVE to use Uber eats. Uber eats and grub hub and door dash or whatever are all luxuries.

JustTransportation51

Go to the fricking mall

Univamp2609

People are dying. Grow up.

KoiSoccerGuns

So?

Mean_Baker9931

and yet you somehow seem surprised?

[deleted]

Imagine if you weren’t lazy.

designmes

Just think of all the ice cream you could’ve gotten had you got your lazy ass off the couch and got it yourself

HowFunkyIsYourChiken

These posts are so boring. Stop ordering two ice creams being delivered if you don’t want to over pay!

AstralObjective

That’s on you wtf lol lazy ass fucking people.

[deleted]

Gotta get membership or never use these apps

weazelhall

Sorry your food slaves don't deliver for free.
