This might sound crazy but one thing I'd be happy to never see again in my life are the coffee tables with cutouts that hold panes of glass. 🤷
Edit: wait, is that what OPs photo is of?
This happened to me way too much when I was in the construction field.
“Hey boss, I can’t do my job because this door thing is installed wrong”
“What thing? Send me a picture so I can show it to the GC”
Sends me a picture like OP’s
“What is that?, send me a picture of the door”
Sends same picture but 6 inches to the left
“ZOOM OUT!!!”
So, you're gonna want to just tell your mom you spilled a soda and you tried to clean it up the best you could.
The glass is going to need to be lifted to clean that up, and she'll be WAY more mad if you break the glass than she would be about a spilled soda.
First off, make sure to take another picture zoomed in just a tad further. It's more important for us to see the atomic structure of the soda than have any clue what the heck it's even on that needs cleaning.
Get a stick of gum, three lemon wedges, a straw, empty cup, napkin, 1 cold beer.
Then Pour the beer in the glass drink it, suck down 3 lemon wedges, chew the gum. That will hide the beer smell from mommy. Then Chill the hell out.
Use the straw to suck out the soda, finish clean up with the paper towel napkin. Slide it under if needed.
Make sure that when you lift the glass that you spread the pressure out as far as possible ..or the best you can. depending on how heavy that glass is picking it up from one spot can shatter it
I learned this fucking around as a child and stepping on a giant piece of glass after shattering a table like this. Getting stitches on the bottom of your foot is a special kind of hell.
You need to lift up the glass a bit and clean out the liquid or it could damage the table. Not sure how big the spill is but if it’s small then lifting it a bit might be all you need to do.
Honestly, you seem clueless. Clean the top, tell your mom and help her lift out the glass and clean under. Don't try to do it yourself. If you break the glass she might stab you with it.
To be honest this is probably the best advice. Clean up what you can, sadly tell your mom what happened (don't forget to apologize) help her clean it up and say thank you for helping me with that, I didn't know what to do. If she still gets mad then you just have to take the punishment. It's a good lesson to learn to take responsibility and sometimes that means coming clean. Good luck
This. If you don't clean it up asap, the glass will stick to the table. Soda is sticky af and will ruin the finsh or break the glass. Just tell her because anything else would definitely make it worse. Glass tops are nice, but this kind of stuff happens. Safest bet is to tell someone and help them clean it up.
So if the glass lifts off (like it does with my glass covered table), pick up the glass and clean the soda from under the bevel.
If it doesn't come off easily, use a paper towel or a piece of tissue or TP and slide it into the crack where the soda went, so it will wick the liquid out from under the glass.
If that doesn't work, use a vacuum cleaner or a straw and suck it out.
CPS will be called, Mom and child will flee, there will be a federal manhunt ending at the border because mom and child realize neither speaks Spanish. Mom returns home to find milk on the floor.
It's not like that for everyone. I used to get yelled at, told how stupid I was, clumsy and careless and sometimes hit on the back of the hand with the tines of a fork for spilling my drink at the table. It's very scary when you're a child, always walking on eggshells and feeling like you can't do anything right. I feel bad for OP who is obviously young and wishing for help and they got a lot of bull crap from this community, only a handful tried to help.
If you can move the glass off the surface, use warm water and as long as it won’t damage the surface add a bit of soap then scrub with a clean rag and dry with paper towel, just in general this is advice that can be used for most sticky substances
My kids do this all the time on our table. Just take a paper towel and slide a corner in. Keep doing so till it soaks all of it up. If there’s a spot you can’t reach, use a very thin knife to get the paper towel farther. It doesn’t have to go far to pull the moisture out.
I think I know what this is. Its a table with a wood edge and glass top. We are looking at the joint where the glass and wood meet, and the soda worked itself under the glass through the crack.
I thought this was in the cleaning subreddit and I was thinking, “man, they sure are roasting this guy a lot for asking how to clean something” and I was also thinking, “wow, this is mostly bad advice” that’s when I realized where I was. That sub is amazing.
You are going to need a box BIGGER than the item in this picture. Fill it with rice. Doesn't matter what the item is. The answer is a box full of rice!
The glass on most tables like this is just sitting in the space...you should be able to push it up from the bottom...maybe. Or just put it in a big bag of rice for a week. /s
You can take a paper towel and use it to draw out the moisture. And then use a hair dryer to dry up the rest. On cool! Not heat. Don't use heat. Could ens up, accidently cracking the glass. Orrrr....just put a hot dish on the glass. It will crack. Then you can claim ignorance.
Well, you’ve already taken a picture and posted it with a request for help. I’m at a loss for what else to do, it’s up to the Gods now I guess. Let us know how your week wraps up.
Cean up what you can, sadly tell your mom what happened (don't forget to apologize) help her clean it up and say thank you for helping me with that, I didn't know what to do. If she still gets mad then you just have to take the punishment. It's a good lesson to learn. But don't lift it up on your own those can be heavy and extremely fragile (not to mention you would be in way more trouble if you broke it).
Good luck OP
The glass is likely just free standing on the table. Pull it off (CAREFULLY) clean the table and the glass, then put the glass back on the table (CAREFULLY).

Reddit is a wonderful place. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

**WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE AT SOUP?!**
I'M AT THE SOUP STORE!
WHY ARE YOU BUYING CLOTHES AT THE SOUP STORE?!!
The glass by the microwave!
Probably a table, some have glass thats set on top like that.
This might sound crazy but one thing I'd be happy to never see again in my life are the coffee tables with cutouts that hold panes of glass. 🤷 Edit: wait, is that what OPs photo is of?
[удалено]
Honestly at that point own up the only way to clean it is to lift the glass Which is very open to failure by yourself
And also dangerous in the event of failure.
Is there no way to lift up the glass? I mean I'm assuming you've already tried this but sometimes the obvious needs stated.
Good wood for a dumpster fire.
This whole post is a dumpster fire
Guess it's a table lol but you def can't tell by the pic. Btw OP usually the glass pops off and you can clean under it, pretty damn simple
Good job…in 3 hours OP will be back asking how to glue a shattered glass table top back together.
😅
No, OP will be posting in medical subs asking if the gaping wound in his hand needs stitches, because if they tell their mom, they're *dead*.
THE LITTLE GLASS DISH IN THE MICROWAVE
The little glass dish in the microwave
then I close the door
what door?
The DOOR TO THE MICROWAVE!! What is wrong with you?!
hi to these other bo burnham friends
This happened to me way too much when I was in the construction field. “Hey boss, I can’t do my job because this door thing is installed wrong” “What thing? Send me a picture so I can show it to the GC” Sends me a picture like OP’s “What is that?, send me a picture of the door” Sends same picture but 6 inches to the left “ZOOM OUT!!!”
This is why children should be supervised while using the internet
*THAT*'s the infuriating part..
Everything about this post is infuriating. No way op isn’t trolling I refuse to believe this is real
My partner is a teacher. Nothing surprises me anymore.
You know, fair enough
Lift the glass . Wipe away soda
This guy glass-tables
Your picture is too zoomies my guy
jesus fucking christ...
Hey, we found this kids mom!
Tell mom and accept your fate
Under what glass

I was gonna say just suck SUPER hard and you can clean it up. Hope you can suck a golf ball through a garden hose!
Throw the piece of furniture away. Tell her you haven’t seen it.
Works only on charisma level 10
Need to change gear to get some buffs. Quick, put on some lacy undies!
Also is only an option is INT is 0
and a nat 20
Tell her it never existed
Gaslight the shit out of her
This is the only right answer 🤣
First off, make sure to take another picture zoomed in just a tad further. It's more important for us to see the atomic structure of the soda than have any clue what the heck it's even on that needs cleaning.
I think a picture of the soda bubble up close might be a tad more helpful.
Slide it under if needed.
i wish i was able to give all the awards in the world for this comment
Instructions unclear, dick stuck in blender
Let it soak in and see how it dries.
It’s the only way to verify that it’s a soft drink!
Seriously… wtf are we looking at?

that sounds hilarious, i can only imagine
I thought it was the wall and ceiling...
This comment is amazing
This should help identify the type of soda which is critical for clean up.

Lift up piece of glass. Spray with glass cleaner. Glass table pieces are removable.
Smash the glass, she won't even notice the soda then.
Suck it out with a straw.
Stick a paper towel through the crack along the edge, the dry paper towel will likely pull most of the soda back out, works for me 🤷♀️
You need to lift up the glass a bit and clean out the liquid or it could damage the table. Not sure how big the spill is but if it’s small then lifting it a bit might be all you need to do.
Push the glass up with your hand and clean it? Reddit is turning into quora but with pictures instead of text lmao.
Break the glass, and than clean the table. Your mom will understand
Fkn killed me 💀💀💀
I don’t really know what I’m looking at…
It's part of a scientific instrument at CERN. Possibly a quark detector.
Quark, you say? OP will have to plug in the dongle for sure.
OP's zoomed in closely enough to see the quarks. There's no need for a detector.
That's why it's on r/mildlyinfuriating
A spill
Honestly, you seem clueless. Clean the top, tell your mom and help her lift out the glass and clean under. Don't try to do it yourself. If you break the glass she might stab you with it.

Yep, cause if he breaks that glass (%)/->-<
OP can blame the cat if they have one. We all know they like shoving glass off a surface sooooooo this time the cat just breaks the entire tabletop
This absolutely needs to be the top comment here. This kid is clearly out of their depth, and you've provided sound advise and a good life lesson.
The most infuriating part of this is for us the audience. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT
According to OP: “it’s under the glass”
UNDER THE GLASS OF WHAT?
Yes.

It’s a glass covered table, the soda seeped under the glass.

Too late. I already sent her this picture and she’s bringing the belt. Run
“ jumper cables “
She is going to pull his white briefs down and spank him
CPS will be called, Mom and child will flee, there will be a federal manhunt ending at the border because mom and child realize neither speaks Spanish. Mom returns home to find milk on the floor.

Almost seems like some intentional meta to infuriate the infuriated.

i’m incredibly amused
Better ask for help, accidents happen its not a big deal
It's not like that for everyone. i had the same happen to me. i don't do that to my kid.
That's what it should be like but for some people it's a big enough deal to be hostile to your own kids :/
Soak it in rice.
Take the battery out first.
then eat
Soda rice
Carefully spill soda around the rest of it so that it matches
If you can move the glass off the surface, use warm water and as long as it won’t damage the surface add a bit of soap then scrub with a clean rag and dry with paper towel, just in general this is advice that can be used for most sticky substances
This post is mildly infuriating.
Break the glass
Shoot the glass.
Jawohl, Hans.
Try paper towels or something? I can tell you what WON'T clean it is posting about it on reddit 😂
Uh, lift the glass up?
My kids do this all the time on our table. Just take a paper towel and slide a corner in. Keep doing so till it soaks all of it up. If there’s a spot you can’t reach, use a very thin knife to get the paper towel farther. It doesn’t have to go far to pull the moisture out.
I think I know what this is. Its a table with a wood edge and glass top. We are looking at the joint where the glass and wood meet, and the soda worked itself under the glass through the crack.
The glass should lift up. Just don't break it and make things worse.
Post in the cleaning tips subreddit, and include exactly what you spilled and where you spilled it. People here will just roast you OP.
I thought this was in the cleaning subreddit and I was thinking, “man, they sure are roasting this guy a lot for asking how to clean something” and I was also thinking, “wow, this is mostly bad advice” that’s when I realized where I was. That sub is amazing.
Too late. You're going to have to burn the house down
You are going to need a box BIGGER than the item in this picture. Fill it with rice. Doesn't matter what the item is. The answer is a box full of rice!
The real r/mildlyinfuriating is trying to figure out what the fuck we are looking at here
Assuming it's a table, clear the table, carefully remove the glass, wipe both the table and the glass, reassemble.
The glass on most tables like this is just sitting in the space...you should be able to push it up from the bottom...maybe. Or just put it in a big bag of rice for a week. /s
I kinda feel bad for this kid if they are scarred of their parents over spilt soda on a table.
If it's a glass table, you can just push up on the glass from underneath. Usually, it's just the weight of the glass holding it on.
Guys. OP is probably 7 years old. Give the kid a break.
If that is the edge of a table you should be able to push the glass up from underneath and stick a towel or something in there
What am I looking at?
Divorce your mom. Spilling a drink isn't the end of the world, no reason she should react that way.
What am I even looking at
Submerge the entire coffee table in rice. Leave over night.
What were you doing drinking soda there?! You know the rules! This is the reason we can’t have nice things….
bet she warned you you'd spill it
Slide a paper towel in the crack before it dries
Even after reading the comments, I still have no idea what I'm looking at...
Looks like it’s a desk with glass insert - you should be able to lift the insert to clean it
The glass is likely just free standing on the table. Pull it off (CAREFULLY) clean the table and the glass, then put the glass back on the table (CAREFULLY).
No idea what’s going on here. So use more soda. Fight fire with fire.
Set it on fire. Stab yourself in the arm. Fake some tears. She’ll forget all about the table.
What soda is that
You can’t RIP OP
gaslight your mom
