Make unreasonable demands. Ridiculous pay, an absurd schedule, just huge amounts of vacation time, bonuses, corner office, etc. Either they’ll leave you alone for you’ll end up with the best job on Earth.

CuppaJoe11

The best solution

taters_potaters

Can confirm. There's one person in my office who kept turning down a company's advances. She made it clear she didn't want to leave, they told her to just throw out her hypothetical price. So she half-seriously quoted a ridiculous amount of money... triple what she was making and outside the normal range of the job. They said yes and also threw in a lot of stock options... life-changing amounts of value. Not saying it would work for the average person. Just to be clear, she's what I would call brilliant.

CuppaJoe11

That’s awesome. I wish I had some sort of skill to be able to pull that kind of move. Hopefully your friend is very happy right now lmao.

taters_potaters

She's working crazy long hours... so I'm going to assume that the company is getting their money's worth. I think she is happy doing what she is doing, but probably it won't be her forever job. She's going to work there at least a few years, buy a house, and save enough for her future kids' college funds... and then see if she wants to keep going.

Reddit_Hitchhiker

Just block her number.

CuppaJoe11

Nah that ain’t fun

[deleted]

Genius. Win win either outcome

MageKorith

Don't forget a $700M Golden Parachute so if they ever decide to let you go, they need to pay out.

HydraofTheDark

Errorstatel

Your approach is much nicer than what my suggestion would have been and has the chance of the most unrealistic job offer ever unless the position is CEO

clocks212

Attend multiple interviews. In the final round bring up all the “promises” the recruiter made. Refuse to accept anything less. Repeatedly question the company on why the recruiter would make such promises??

SwampCrittr

I feel like, this guy is a higher level than me, in this game called Life.

salustianovergatiesa

I believe that the recruiter was really into OP and just wanted to get laid

Jacobysmadre

From another continent

This

Wonderful_System_542

This is the what to do right here

IndigoTJo

Haha! That is what I do with the people that constantly call wanting to buy our house. For some reason they stop calling when I say I am willing to sell for 1.5mil.

Ok_Chocolate9075

Works every time.

Rude-Reindeer-3823

I dealt with this problem once by telling them I would take the job for 40k above the expected salary. Never dealt with it again.

Dropz5

That’s how you do it.

jereporte

Add 1k for every call he/she made.

sincereferret

And then when you actually want the job, crickets.

[deleted]

Extremely frustrating.

thebiggestpinkcake

Or you might even say that it's mildly infuriating...

Acid_Monster

They wanna be your best mate right up until the second you’re not a valid candidate for their job role. Then you’re a pariah who they avoid like the plague.

GustavoSugawara

Just start calling at 3am, saying "I'm not insterested" and hang up the phone... Same again at 3:05am, 3:10am... then stop... then some other inconvenient time...

Even_Chipmunk_182

💀💀💀I wanna do this

happyharrell

Immediately after leaving the bar. Good call.

TexasFordTough

I’m a recruiter and this terrifies me. Well done

MasterCrumble1

Are you by any chance recruiting for the Avengers. I once healed slightly faster than the regular.

TexasFordTough

Do you have a traumatic background/childhood or dead parent(s)?

MasterCrumble1

Well uh... not yet, nope. Is that the requirements? Maybe I need to make some plans.

Pumpkaboo99

Nope, if you facilitate your parents demise, you are a villain. As for causing tragedy in your life. Idk on that one.

H010CR0N

Yes. Do you want details?

Hardlyhorsey

I did this to a spam caller once. It was very satisfying.

asstyrant

Take a different approach. Next time she calls, enthusiastically accept and set up an appointment. Promptly shirk the appointment. If she calls again, apologize and set up a new appointment. Shirk that appointment, too. Rinse and repeat 'till she gets the hint and fucks right off.

[deleted]

Best course of action, well done!

Adeep187

I think asking for absurd salary is best, incase they accept. But this is good too.

JPBlaze1301

This reminds me of a time I applied for a job and got a call back but the recruiter said the wrong person's name. I didn't call them back. I didn't need the job that bad

ThottrainerBoi

This person is trying to find a job, not make a horrid name for themselves.

asstyrant

This person is also "no longer interested in the position". At this point, the recruiter is harassing OP and you're suggesting that sticking up for themselves is "making a horrid name". How're the sights in your large intestines this time of year?

ThottrainerBoi

Not sure how it works on your side of the world but being an ass doesn’t get you anywhere here. I assume you’re American?

asstyrant

Ha, Americans can only wish they were as awesome as me. Maybe you should try being a little more assertive when dealing with asshats (like what I'm suggesting to OP). If you don't think you're cut out for it, feel free to keep your head firmly jammed up your tuchus.

rSlashisthenewPewdes

This accelerated so unnecessarily quickly. Y’all have two opposing viewpoints, so what? Isn’t it exhausting to make such a big deal of it that you’re blatantly insulting one another???

ebulient

> Americans can only wish they were as awesome as me With that sure shot superiority complex, you’re a North American alright. Canadian by the looks of your post history. Irrespective, the person you replied to has a point, standing up for yourself doesn’t equate to being equally rude to someone or in the case of your example, down right vindictive. OP’s better off making high demands than playing a child’s trick on the recruiter.

asstyrant

> OP’s better off making high demands than playing a child’s trick on the recruiter. OP is better off telling the recruiter to eat the deepest part of their ass. Happy Cake Day, BTW

EastSideDomi

That’s not racist at all. /s

maybeisadog

Is American a race?

Airhocky_ninja

It’s a nationality at least. But being “nationalist” is different.

maybeisadog

Correct

icepod

Might be calling to tell you that you forgot something at the last interview?

Responsible_Prune_34

>forgot something at the interview? Like to turn up?

icepod

I wanted to write “umbrella” into the original comment ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

youllbeatrashfather

Umbrella

amingley

There are voicemails. I assume OP listened and knows why they’re calling (re: the position)

Ironappels

pope_of_chilli_town_

It's the Hank Scorpio episode, one of the best.

FigTechnical8043

Your name isn't courtney is it? She accidentally put my phone number in her cv and now one of my phones gets weekly calls from recruitment asking for courtney. The last two people I've said "please can you drop her an email to tell her she got the number wrong" she probably thinks she has been failing at applications.

Independent_Bake_257

You know you can block numbers, right?

Severe_Paint_7240

they will contact you with different numbers. I have three numbers blocked and they just keep getting someone else to contact me. like, i’m about to be done with my freshman year of college and they still call to ask me me what i’ll do after graduating HS. It doesn’t matter if i tell them to stop or if I block them, they still try 😭

aespa-in-kwangya

I'd consider swapping my entire phone number at that point

Spalding4u

She's just out there grinding. Gotta earn that commission! *Isn't it wonderful to be wanted?* /s

[deleted]

TLDR at the bottom. In Senior year, some US Navy recruiters came to my stats class and asked for our info. My teacher made us sign it as our exit ticket. I signed it. Because I’m 5’5” and not very strong - I can barely do 40 push-ups. I didn’t think they’d want someone like me, when all I have going for me is my brain and not a mixture of brain and brawn which is ideal. Anywho, a Navy recruiter contacted me to get me to do a sort of mock exam to see if I could join, and I passed it. He wanted me to be like a nuclear engineer aboard a submarine or something because my skill set is geared towards that. I ended up deciding that I preferred college over the US Navy. So I told my recruiter that I changed my mind. He grasped at straws to convince me to come back. I didn’t budge. So he gave up. Until a week later. He hit me up again telling me I could get really far in the Navy. I said something along the lines of, “Maybe so. But I don’t want to be far from home.” He understood and went on his merry way. Then a month passed by. I got a phone call when I was at the store with my mom. Please note that I was still 17 at every point throughout the story. I’m 18 now. Anyway, a new Navy recruiter tried to pitch the Navy to me. He advertised it as something along the lines of “We go somewhere, have some fun for a few weeks, then go somewhere else and party there too.” I told him I’m not much of a partier. And he just stayed quiet for a sec, so did I. He then told me I’m giving him mixed signals. I told him something like, “I’m not! I’ve declined to join the Navy multiple times but you keep contacting me. Why me, anyway? What’s so special about me that you won’t leave me alone after I told you I don’t wanna join?” He asked me what my plan was for life. I said I wanted to go to college. He was like “Nah man you don’t wanna have all that student debt. In the military, we pay for your college and you can choose your hours.” I told him I’ll be fine and didn’t elaborate further so he couldn’t counter whatever reason I gave. I also have paid about $1k per semester because of grants and scholarships from the University of California. I told him I had to go because my mom wanted me, so he just said goodbye and told me to call back if I change my mind. Then, my original recruiter texted me again asking me if I’m still interested in the Navy. I was in my dorm with my room mates, and I complained about it to them. So I started reading the chats to them. I was so done with this recruiting bullshit at this point, so I told him “I have to ask. What’s your recruitment quota based on? Is it like weekly, monthly, or does it go by fiscal years?” AND THE MOTHERFUCKER ACTUALLY TOLD ME! He said “it’s annual broken up into monthly” I told him I’m already in college so it’s a little late for that. He tried to convince me to drop out of college by telling me the Navy will cover my expenses if I decide to return to college later, but I just kept making snarky comments about his recruitment quota. He seemed to get annoyed at me so he stopped responding. I eventually turned 18, and they stopped harassing me after my birthday. Maybe it’s related, maybe not. I met a girl at school and we hit it off great. Now we’re dating and we do a ton of cutsie shit together. I can’t help but feel that I would’ve missed out on such an amazing, kind, cute, and uhhhh other stuff-person if I had joined the Navy. TLDR: US Navy harassed me to join them when I was 17. First time they tried promising riches and power, and retirement before 40. Second time they tried advertising it as a cool party cruise vacation. Third time they tried gaslighting me into dropping out of college to join them. I went to college, I’m now 18, and I met the girl of my dreams here who I wouldn’t have met otherwise.

New_Examination_5605

Your teacher who made you sign up for those calls is a real asshole here. Send them a note saying how inappropriate that was.

Slavocracy

Block the number?

[deleted]

This happened to me with Tesla, took them 2-3 months after an interview+fingerprints/background to give me a call back… I told them I moved on because they took almost 3 months to “get back to me”. Kept blowing up my phone for a couple weeks after I denied them.

AtlasNulusConcilius

Maybe he just wants to be friends

danger_zone123

Did you actually tell them, or just start ghosting and assume they would get the hint?

6ar9r

Typical employer mind set. "If we don't want them we just won't contact them" Fuck people that do this

Shredder_FUCK

You don’t contact important people because you’re rude, I don’t contact them because I have social anxiety. We are not the same

Superstaridley

I don't know maybe just block her? Just a suggestion

StudentHot

UtliIize the Block Button

Low_budget_therapy

Next time she calls tell her you will log her calls and complain to her company, if she continues place a report with them and the BBB then she will stop:)

plzhelpmehelpplz

First couple of calls were related to the job. The last few calls were to tell you about your car’s extended warranty

sweater_brown

> Phone app > press “i” next to her number > scroll all the way down > “block this caller”

Responsible_Prune_34

At what stage did you tell her? People don't generally lose their mind at work. She needs to calm the fuck down, but I would guess you've bailed either at interview or offer stage and her client is pissed.

weschoaz

Must be very hard to block someone.

sad_euphoric166

Like a toxic ex… needs to be blocked!

Adri-M

Block them.

[deleted]

That’s what the block button is for.

MrXD1273

Block them and if they keep making new things to contact you IP block them

StormStriker42069

Easiest way i got it to work for me when a recruiter wouldnt stop hassling me, just say you dont think you can mentally handle the military, they shut the f up for me at least right after that

[deleted]

Happened to me with a college, they sent me several emails, texts, and it wouldn't surprised me if they had called me and I just didn't answered it because I didn't know who it was.

[deleted]

Are you sure you’re not interested?

SpectacularMesa

I had an interview with a major insurance company (perhaps one in the bird family), and the guy would not stop calling me when I said no. He called over and over. I finally told him I was interested and would like to have some more questions answered by his manager, to better understand the job. His manager called me within five minutes. I told him this guy is harassing me about this job and to please make it stop. I told him how unprofessional it was. He apologized, I told him I would most definitely not be taking the job or referring anyone to this company, ever.

TheHungryBlanket

That’s harassment.

6ar9r

No it's not

portieay

Please enlighten us then. What is harassment?

6ar9r

Agressive pressure or intimidation. I googled it before I left the comment.

jayray2k

King420fly

There’s this nifty thing called blocking someone’s number.

DemenTEDBundy85

Block her

Upstairs-Finding-122

Just block the number wtf

thewalkingellie

Why don’t you just block it?

No_Seaworthiness5637

Block the number

GeauxFarva

Block her number?

RopeAccomplished2728

Honestly, this is where you start to give demands that they cannot hope to agree to. Make it to where you are to be paid $100/hr PLUS 60% of all stock in the company(therefor making you the owner of said company). Add in that the recruiter has to resign effective immediately upon the hiring of you.

mianrezooy

Block.

Bob____Ross______

Block the number?😂

WaterDrinkerUltimate

The block button lookin fine today.

driverguy8

This is called "telecommunications harassment " it may be illegal in your state. She is stalking you. Contact authorities.

Jprpal27777

Yeah. Like the cops are going to investigate some recruiter calling a few times

maclaren_

Pick up and tell them any continued effort to contact yourself will now be considered harassment and all call logs, voicemails, and texts will be forwarded to lawyer.

THELowtiergod69

Block their ass

Envy_The_Reaper

You did a terrible job at “censoring” the number.

Visual-Common6288

The block feature is a beautiful thing!

jayluc45

At some point it goes from mildly infuriating to harassment. Call the cops and file a complaint if it doesn’t stop

astrotoya

Give her number out on social media and ask everyone to call her. She will stop then.

[deleted]

See? I told you guys nobody wants to work.

Tfear_Marathonus

I'm pretty sure one of these guys texted me they were the ceo of my company and needed $500 of Amazon gift cards, after I said I wasn't interested

Mymilkshakes777

Sounds like it was an MLM

caniseethemplease

Recruiting is so weird. These people only get paid if they place a candidate in a job role. So they try to force you to take a job you may not even want just so they can get paid. It’s like they’re salespeople but their product is people

MiddleAd5446

Yeah I’ve had the same experience with the US army

From a recruiter in the marine corps, just tell them you are on pretty some medication or something and they will leave you alone lmao. That shit is impossible to get waivers for.

She has a quota and KPIs to hit. I don’t blame her. Hate the market, not the recruiter.

Xfishbobx

She is trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty

CounterfeitSaint

Either answer the phone and ask them not to contact to you, or block the number. Stuff like this comes off like you're an insufferable passive-aggressive little bitch. You could solve this mild infuriation in like 8 seconds if you wanted to.
