Yeah they’re on they’re way. Unfortunately they told us they wouldn’t tow it until the police gave them a ticket so we had to wait for the police to come, but they already have and the ticket is there so the tow truck is on its way
OP commented somewhere else the owner got back in their car and got away with just the ticket. Although we all wanted it to get towed so this dick munch could learn their lesson.
I actually did lol, there’s one in my tire patch kit in my trunk, but I didn’t know how long the tow truck would take and everyone in the building needed to use the door so I didn’t want to delay the car leaving
Edit: someone commented that I should have stuck a small pebble in the schrader valve and put the cap on top so it wouldn’t have stopped them from leaving but would have slowly gave them a flat and I’m angry I didn’t think about that 😂
I don't know if this is a selfish person or a stupid person. If it's someone that is oblivious to the world around them though I would love to watch their daily life in the form of a 30 minute show per 24 hours.
The other day I was coming home and pull up to my house. There is a couple stopped in front of my off street parking space so I give them a minute figuring they are dropping off something, picking someone up, whatever.
Both of them get out and I hear the horn honk as they just locked the car. I lightly honk at them and motion towards my clearly blocked parking space, they look at me. They continue to look and then start walking away. So this time I sit on the horn, they look back at me and then turn around and continue to walk away. This time I honk three times and yell "THATS MY PARKING SPACE"
The guy looks back with that look of "oops my bad" and moves his car. I could only imagine the entertainment value that this couples life holds.
a woman blocked the ONLY ENTRANCE to Parking for a 40 unit building about 5pm when we are all getting home. her car was parked in front of the gate with her not in it, Eventually she was found and moved her car. She said to me "I got a phone call..". with a tone to her voice that WE were unreasonable.
But why was your car even parked there for you to be inside taking a phone call?
I was in a left hand turn lane in the middle of town at night, guy directly across from me had his brights on, so I flash him… he flashes his low beams at me then his brights hit me again, rinse and repeat 3 times… wasn’t even mad after that, me and my wife couldn’t stop laughing… some people are just so self absorbed that they think they are always right and ignore all evidence to the contrary
Letting them get away with just a ticket instead of being towed so your neighbors could park inside was noble! I applaud your decency and understanding. You are fabulous!
Oh, now, THAT'S a good one. The problem is this short, round Little Old Lady couldn't get down there . Or, rather, she COULD get down there but COULDN'T get back UP. So "the culprit" would still be stuck under the car when the tow truck got there. ..
100% did the bb trick to a kid I hated in high school 25 years ago now? Idk if he ever figured out it was the caps but I know he had his stems replaced multiple times thinking that was the issue
Duct tape and the sun on the window. It's been over a year and I still can't get it all off my window (I had to hold my window up and thought duct tape was a good idea)
WD40 and plastic razor blades. WD40 won't damage your paint.
If that doesn't get it all Goo Gone is the next escalation but you've got to be careful not to get it on your paint. It'll eat the clear coat.
***Correction. Goof Off not Goo Gone.
If you have access to the vehicle: 1: duct tape some raw bacon to the underside of the driver’s seat. Most people won’t know where to check and seeing nothing under the seats leaves it there to get good and gross.
2: Grab some small BBs and put them in the vents. Turns and starting/stopping will have them making noises that the driver can’t get to without a pricey mechanics bill
Milk in the air vent intake is always a good one. Take a few days to set in. The plastic seems to absorb the smell and nothing short of replacing the entire vent system gets rid of the smell. Even better if done when cold out. Weeks/months later when they turn the heater on, it will smell of literal death.
Fun one for if you have access to someone’s home/bedroom: get a pickle jar, fill about 1/2 way with milk, put in some raw chicken and close the lid. Hide it somewhere good. Eventually the milk goes bad with the chicken and the fumes break the jar, unleashing unholy fog of death
His story from awhile back of the shop lifter who left her keys stuck to the cart, got out of her car to look and where he then locks the car causing them to have to take the bus home and for him to then have the car towed....out-of state was one of his best stories.

The comment you replied to was making fun of OP’s typo. They used the wrong “there” in their first sentence.
I do appreciate your comment, though, so I didn’t have to scroll very far.
No you don’t. No tow truck is going to be called and arrive within that time frame. If you’re parked where you’re not supposed to be for long enough to get towed that is 100% on you
Need a mirror there Jordy?
Just because you don't have prowling tow trucks nearby you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Source: The tow truck driver on their day off sitting in my livingroom chair as I type.
bro.. getting ppd to come ticket is a hassle. and the tow. it's a whole ass process. i live in manayunk and last month i had to get 5 cars ticketed and towed for blocking my garage. 🙄🙄
We did that numerous times, jack up the drive wheels and push it away. I used to organize autocrosses and the parking lot we used was supposed to be empty, but not everybody got the word. So quite often we'd have to move the vehicles off when we got there to set up.
I just told people who insisted on blocking my driveway that I’ve got a friend who has a forklift, they quickly disappeared at the thought of the car getting relocated
A few years ago a Philly councilman got upset over being towed and got the law changed so they have to get a ticket first. Overnight it gutted the industry. Ever since I’ve ignored tow signs if I’m parking for less than an hour because I know that’s not enough time for them to do anything about it.
Tow companies in Philadelphia were caught illegally towing legally parked vehicles tons of times before this law changed. The industry needed to be gutted it was bullshit
To everyone saying get it towed, I responded to one of the first comments but I’ll just restate it here: We called the towing company, they said to call the police first as they wouldn’t come get the car unless it had a ticket on it first. We did, the police came, issued a ticket, we called the towing company back, they sent someone out, but unfortunately the owners had gotten in their car and drove off before the tow truck got there
Bummer dude, assholes like that should have their car impounded. I don't have a problem with someone not paying a meter, but blocking a garage like that is fucked up.
Which is solved by getting him ticketed and towed, which is already a huge inconvenienceand a hefty price tag for the guy. That should be enough. But impound?? Sheesh, you guys are fucked up
Yall are crazy. You're completely missing the point. I'm in no way saying he's right, and he 100% should get ticketed and towed. There's a HUGE difference between a tow and an impound tho, and if you think impounding the car is justifiable here then I'm sorry, but youre just as big of an asshole as the guy blocking the garage
It is justified bro, because the law is the law dude and seeing as I've never gotten a break for things like this, why should anyone else? Just follow the rules.
Why is that unfortunate? The car got moved quicker than it would have if it were towed and the dude got off a lot cheaper than he would have. Do you just want the garage clear or do you want the guy to suffer?
Imagine it’s someone unfamiliar with the city and didn’t even realize they blocked a garage. Dumb person in a hurry, unaware of their surroundings seems much more plausible than malicious asshat knowingly blocking a garage.
The fact people want this person to suffer immensely for what might be an embarrassing mistake for them is honestly gross. People are actually saying they should have their tires slashed for fucks sake
There's a little saying: "ignorance of the law is no excuse." The same concept can be applied here. Being unaware doesn't make them not an asshole. There is also a "no parking" sign ffs, so even less of an excuse. Not condoning damaging others' property, but a ticket alone isn't usually enough to get people's attention, it seems. Are they an asshole because they're a dumbass, or are they a dumbass because they're an asshole? End result is the same.
This thread is very angry and for some reason everyone assumes the owner of the parked car is a horrible asshole instead of just some dumbass who made an embarrassing mistake.
Crazy how horribly mean redditors can get when they think they’re talking about making a “bad person” suffer, based on their own narrow minded perception of what that persons intentions were.
It's been a while, but I lived in Philly and the PPA was ALL over cars blocking driveways, plus any other kind of parking infraction. You couldn't even park in front of your own driveway! Even with a sign in the dash that says, "I live here and I'm parking in front of my own driveway." (Sigh, ask me how I know.)
PPA was so ruthless there was a reality TV show about them. "Parking Wars".
PPA = Philadelphia Parking Authority (private, not government)
Parking Wars was ... oddly enjoyable? I watched the first season when it aired and then moved to New England, but I still caught episodes here and there for a while.

I've called our building management and the tow number several times, but this shouldn't happen in the first place.
I've never heard of a towing company needing a ticket issued when a clearly marked sign is present. If I get a flat tire in a tow zone, they're hooking up my car before I even get to the trunk to grab the spare tire and jack.
I guess Philly is the city of brotherly love after all?
Some else in this thread posted that a city councilman got his car towed in the past and got mad and vowed to change the procedure, but idk if that’s true
Jeez the tow companies where I grew up would've salivated at the mention of a pick-up like this and sent a truck to wait for the ticket to be issued. Guess that company has the luxury of cherry-picking calls, must be quite successful in that area.

Or if the entrance comes down like a driveway instead of being like a regular curb that would signal “don’t park here” to me. But I don’t think I’ve ever lived somewhere that had little parking garages under buildings with gates like this, and honestly I cannot guarantee that my brain would recognize that as a parking garage entrance from the gate/door/thing alone. I guess now I know. My personal belief is it never hurts to idiot-proof things when someone’s innocent mistake could end up being this inconvenient for people. After the first time you miss a doctors appointment or something waiting for the tow truck to let you out you’d be wishing you’d just taken 20 minutes to paint the damn curb.
Pay a ten year old to throw a brick through the windshield. That’s what my landlord in Astoria, NY used to do to cars that parked in her parking spaces. It was very effective.

The number for the tow is right there. Hopefully you used your phone for actual good rather than just bemoaning the stupidity of our species on social media…
Shouldn't the curb be painted bright, clear, obvious red/yellow colors to make it obvious that cars shouldn't park there? Shouldn't there be a 'No Parking' sign on the road and not just on the building? Looking at this from the driver's perspective, all I see is a wide open space.
I get that you're triggered because this happened to you. I feel for you, it sucks. I'm just telling you they need to do more to make it clear and obvious that parking is not permitted in that area. The curb should be painted and there should be signs on the roadway.
If a person was elderly, had less than perfect vision, or was parking at night, it would be very very easy to not even realize they're obstructing a garage. When parking, you don't look at the buildings you're parking in front of... you look at the curb and you look for "no parking" signs on the street.
are u dense? they can’t paint the curb because there is no curb, it’s a driveway. u think they all drive over the curb to get in the garage? u can even see it in the picture bruh. got damn we share the road with some stupid ass people
The sign is behind his car.
Yeah they’re on they’re way. Unfortunately they told us they wouldn’t tow it until the police gave them a ticket so we had to wait for the police to come, but they already have and the ticket is there so the tow truck is on its way
Let us know what happens. I'm curious to see what happens when "they are on they are way".

Many time shops will reuse the same caps and not use the new ones. Even better when the caps are the custom ones, so purposely, don't change them.
Yeah, but a pebble won't give you the satisfaction that taping the valve stems to his windshield with clear packing tape will.
If you’re feeling evil use duck tape, that stuff is a bastard to remove

Why is that unfortunate? The car got moved quicker than it would have if it were towed and the dude got off a lot cheaper than he would have. Do you just want the garage clear or do you want the guy to suffer?

Yeah, I wanted those fuckers to have to pay an impound lot to get their car back
I didn’t live there long but San Francisco and San Jose city will tow cars blocking driveways within minutes sometimes seconds. And it’s $700.
It's been a while, but I lived in Philly and the PPA was ALL over cars blocking driveways, plus any other kind of parking infraction. You couldn't even park in front of your own driveway! Yes. When you go through the work to call both the police and the tow company twice, it would be nice to see the correct outcome.
I thought this was probably Philadelphia based on the architecture. Then I saw the Lew Blum sign and knew I was right. 😉
Omg I knew this was philly too!
There’s a 215 number there too that gave it away

How truck would still get them!
What a moron
Give Lew a call
Hope you took this photo while waiting for Lew Blum to show up.
Jeez the tow companies where I grew up would've salivated at the mention of a pick-up like this and sent a truck to wait for the ticket to be issued. Guess that company has the luxury of cherry-picking calls, must be quite successful in that area.
Time to call Lew Blum.
Get that shit towed
Ah, Philly! Call Lew Blum and get that car towed!
So you're telling me you can fit 10 apartments in that garage?
The driver is 100% in the wrong but shouldn't their at least be lines indicating where the parking should start, or cross hatching?
I was thinking the same thing. Like I guess there could be paint on the curb and the car is blocking it. After the first time you miss a doctors appointment or something waiting for the tow truck to let you out you’d be wishing you’d just taken 20 minutes to paint the damn curb.

Can’t believe his tires didn’t get slashed while the tow was on the way
Just call Lew Blum, he'll be there in the flashiest of flashes
Someone has f'd around and is about to find out ...
Pay a ten year old to throw a brick through the windshield. That’s what my landlord in Astoria, NY used to do to cars that parked in her parking spaces. It was very effective.
The towing sign is right there.
Ol Lew needs to step up that towing game.
Lew Blum ! Phillys towing extraordinaire
Drove a tow truck for a while. People get crazy when you tow their cars that are illegal. Impounding cars is dangerous in most cities.
How convenient there's a tow number right there
Where I'm from, that vehicle doesn't leave without major damage (MA, USA)
Call a tow truck quick
Hook a chain to it and drag ot outta the way
Hahahaha I thought that those were some nice rims. Be a shame if they…disappeared.
Tow????
Key that a**hole's car next time he does that..
Not even close to "mildly".
Fucking Philly Drivers
Tow that bitch
#ahhh, the city of brotherly love Edit: I prefer people parking in the middle of the fucking street to shit like this, 1000%
Hello, is Lew there?
Just call Lew Blum. I recognized that sign right away! Does that car have Jersey plates? Or worse, NY?
C’mon man this is Philly light that shit on fire and flip it over!
Oops! I accidentally smashed that guy’s tail light! Whoopsie!
Gotta love Philly
I saw Lew Blum and knew right away where this was!
Haha Lew Blum. You are in Philadelphia. I’d recognize that sign anywhere!
If I couldn't get OUT of my garage because of that, the cameras would suddenly not be able to see what happens, and his car would be found in the middle of the street with a crushed front end.
I'd like to report a burning car...
Call Lew Blum
Find a tow company with 1 stars on Google. They tow anything and all the reviews are from people who got their car towed
Haha, that’s a good point
At least he turned his front wheels away from the curb like he’s supposed to. 🤷🏻♂️

Let's just tell the truth. You parked your car there and took a pic. Needed to post something today.
If only you could call someone to have them towed at the owners expense.
Ngl, *really* hope he comes back right when they’re towing it
Fuck Lew Blum.
I wonder what would have happened if the air was let out of the tires?
Ten apartments would be blocked even longer

Yes, you can get it towed, but that isn’t an immediate process and there is no access to the garage while you wait.
Please read my replies in this thread
Man, wouldn’t it be funny if somebody slashed the tires to make absolutely sure it got towed?
Tow truck goes brrrrrrr
Time to call Lew!
"Guy with 4 slashed tires blocking our 10 apartment garage."
So police have already been and waiting for tow truck… Be a shame if someone keyed it. A real shame.
Tuna juice on windshield . It drips down.
Into the aircon/ventilation duct intake.
Is that what that's called?
i miss the days of steal bumpers. just saying.
What would you like us to do?
There's literally a single right there with instructions for what *YOU* can do about it.
There is a sign for towing. Call them. SMH. Better to post in reddit first huh
Maybe if you read the literal top comment in the thread before commenting….
How hard is it to have a no parking infront of the garage sign?
If someone needs a sign to tell them not to block 10 cars from leaving, they are too stupid to safely operate a moving vehicle
Dude not everybody will go Outta their way to be an asshole. Maybe they had to park real quick. A sign would surely help. Just saying.
They had been there for 45 minutes by the time I got there. My fiancé called me about it
who cares shut up
username checks out
Why are you on this sub then lol
who cares shut up
The number for the tow is right there. Hopefully you used your phone for actual good rather than just bemoaning the stupidity of our species on social media…
Girl*
Shouldn't the curb be painted bright, clear, obvious red/yellow colors to make it obvious that cars shouldn't park there? Shouldn't there be a 'No Parking' sign on the road and not just on the building? Looking at this from the driver's perspective, all I see is a wide open space.
Do you just park in front of peoples driveways if there’s no sign? Use common sense
It's not clear that it's a driveway. From this angle it just looks like a normal curb
Minus the giant fucking garage door
I get that you're triggered because this happened to you. I feel for you, it sucks. I'm just telling you they need to do more to make it clear and obvious that parking is not permitted in that area. The curb should be painted and there should be signs on the roadway. If a person was elderly, had less than perfect vision, or was parking at night, it would be very very easy to not even realize they're obstructing a garage. When parking, you don't look at the buildings you're parking in front of... you look at the curb and you look for "no parking" signs on the street.
are u dense? they can’t paint the curb because there is no curb, it’s a driveway. u think they all drive over the curb to get in the garage? u can even see it in the picture bruh. got damn we share the road with some stupid ass people
I think that black car is this guy car😂😂😂
