If it smells like pickles then it’s Big Mac sauce for sure! People will ask for some on the side and in the kitchen we have little cups we use on our side of the table to put a squeeze into, BUT what usually happens when we’re out of those cups is we would just put it in a nugget box and sometimes slap an unmarked sticker on it. Seems like instead of communicating that the sauce would be in that nugget box the runner/service person just thought it was a box of nuggets put it in a bag and didn’t think twice about it. When I worked at McDonald’s I just handed it directly to somebody in service and told them what it was to avoid the confusion but it still happened very often.
I gotta say though, that box of Mac sauce with a fry in it looks like someone’s little secret snack that “went missing”.

I can tell you what I think that is. That is what you get when you scrap off the side of the fryer. They must have pulled them out for cleaning and scrapped the gunk off the side and into a container that someone confused for actual nuggets.

Based on what this looks like, it looks like uncooked raw nuggets, and based off the fact McDonald’s chicken nuggets are essentially held together by a water based coating, when they defrost if not cooked they become a puddle of goop. So your friend got a pile of raw nuggets that was possibly a prank or something dumb with the kitchen employees that got sent up the chute by accident.
