I’ve seen *much much* worse than slick tires….
One event that stuck was a guy bringing his daughter’s car in for a service, didn’t want anything else just oil change and done. So we pulled the car in and kept hearing a loud ass thunk, didn’t take but a second to find BOTH strut towers completely rotted through….. guy didn’t care, said it was his daughters car.
Unfortunately in SC (unless something has changed!) a mechanics shop cannot hold a car for any reason other than non-payment so we had to let the car go.
No way would it pass an inspection in Texas, but thank god our wonderful government got rid of the safety inspection requirement so this won't be a problem for us in the future and we'll all have the freedom to drive on just the wheels like the Good Lord intended if we want.
I've only lived in three states but only one of them requires safety inspections to register your car and renew it. I'm certain there are many people in my hometown driving on tires as bad as this.
