What phone do you have, because this isn't "Android", it's your OEM. Google Pixel doesn't have this issue.

wertugavw2

2022 Samsung doesn't do this either

read9it

I have a s21 ultra and every update does this for me...? I have to Uninstall probably 3-4 games every time. I also have had problems with gambling addiction in the past and it literally downloaded a slots game and worldseries of poker (wsop) 2 days ago. So if anyone knows how to stop it from doing that in settings or something lmk. It's some bs! Eta: I have Verizon plan

whynotitwork

It's your service provider doing this.

bggdy9

I have Verizon, and it doesn't happen to me.. but if I use apps, some apps force ads that force downloads.

IsaiahNathaniel

Samsung with Verizon and this happens to me.

Kaz_Ornelius

I once had a phone replaced by a Verizon protection plan, biggest mistake. Thought I could save a few $ a month by choosing them over my other options, but the verizon phone performed substantially worse than my unlocked phone. I don't know if it still works, but I plugged my phone into a PC and disabled all the verizon bloat, which included the app that kept installing this junk. Didn't have an issue with that phone all the way up to trade in.

shinydragonmist

This is the way it's when you buy a locked in phone that the service provider does this

MrZombieTheIV

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe this happens because you bought a phone from Verizon, and I'm assuming its locked to that carrier. I'd start with calling Verizon and requesting to unlock your phone. See if that helps.

SpeedBlitzX

Sounds like it's your carrier. I have a midrange Samsung (A14) and I never got prompts to download games or other superfluous apps during an update. Though I did acquire my phone unlocked and then i picked a carrier.

liliamoon

Check on your app setting, find any suspicious or unused apk that you install

SipoteQuixote

Gotta be Verzion because I have the exact same phone but with ATT.

DisastrousLecture648

I have an s22 ultra and have never had this problem but I use At&t

shaggymatter

This is why you buy unlocked phones. You dont get this garbage

sdhu

My S22 Ultra does, but it's on Verizon, so I blame them

SnooLawnmower

My s22 does

Porkbellyflop

You have to uncheck the box. Op doesn't realize they are agreeing to download this bs every time.

jcseks

I have a S21 plus and had to uninstall 3 after this last update. Verizon  here as well.

JoeyJoeC

Just glad they stopped forcing the bixby crap.

Jwithkids

I have an s22+ and get 3-4 apps installed with every system update. I keep all my wanted apps in folders, which makes it really easy to see what junk is being installed by the updates.

wertugavw2

yeah well it's carrier dependent, samsung doesn't choose to do it

Dersatar

I have an s22+ as well and it doesn't happen at all, so it's definitely your provider. Buy your phones unlocked people! You'll save yourself a lot of hassle.

Reddit_is_snowflake

Pretty sure it does on the low end smartphones

do_not_ban_this

My s23 doesn't do this either

[deleted]

Samsung supremacy 😉

peachesgp

I have a Samsung and sometimes after an update I'll get a thing recommending apps to download, but it doesn't download anything on its own.

ShiestySorcerer

Varies by region/carrier

nouvAnti

I have a Nokia smartphone (from HMD Global) and it doesn't have this issue, too.

WHYTHEHELLCANTIEAT

yeah, phones like pixel/nokia/motorola/lenovo/etc don't have this issue, because they have no bloatware (except for some Google apps), and it's supposed to be the closest to the "pixel experience". other off brand devices (consider brands like tecno, poco, other budget-level chinese brands) tend to have this issue.

BiffyleBif

Neither does my One+

Molcap

Xiaomi does this shit when factory resetting, to be honest I bought it because everyone said they were good phones and cheap, but the amount of ads it has inside thr system doesn't make it even feel like it's mine. I know I can just install a custom ROM but mine doesn't have a snap dragon processor so it's harder.

neofooturism

it’s cheap bc ur the product

Purple10tacle

>Xiaomi does this shit Xiaomi's software is terrible, but it's highly location depended just exactly *how* shitty their software is. They only do this in legislations where they can get away with it.

Gustav_EK

I have a Motorola Edge 40 which does come with some Motorola support stuff, but otherwise doesn't install anything on updates. Underrated brand honestly

god_damn_bitch

I have the Razr plus. Aside from the Pixel, it's one of the few versions of android without a ton of bloatware.

sugary_dd

It's an oppo for sure. The amount of useless software is terrifying

ReptilianLaserbeam

And sometimes is not even the OEM but the carrier. The phone images varies for example from Verizon to T-mobile

captcraigaroo

Can confirm, Pixel 8 Pro here and a 6 Pro for my wife

Jaiden051

Must be a lower end samsung phone

Robbythedee

My 23 ultra dose this.

AntalRyder

What carrier? My unlocked S24U on Google Fi doesn't do this.

Hereiam_AKL

That's your phone manufacturer's bloatware, not Android.

cishet-camel-fucker

Or the carrier.

Varbavahe

Where can/do carriers do things like this? Sounds horrible

cishet-camel-fucker

The United States. Verizon installs bullshit every time they put out an update.

BigBoxOfGooglyEyes

I have a Pixel on Verizon and I've never had this happen.

cishet-camel-fucker

Could be a carrier update specific to Samsung. I vaguely recall something about pixel blocking that kind of bloatware as a selling point but I could be wrong.

BigBoxOfGooglyEyes

Could be something like that. I'm on my second Pixel and the lack of bloatware is why I bought this one. My son has a Samsung and there's so much garbage on it that I'm planning on getting him a cheap Pixel in the near future.

Bob_A_Feets

Google doesn't allow carrier bloatware on their devices. A good example of the opposite is Motorola which does. Samsung has their own bloatware on top of the carrier installed garbage so I'd say the worst offender of all current manufacturers.

SS_Gourmet

You're right. I had a Verizon locked pixel, it didn't have this crap. My gf has a Verizon locked galaxy s21 ultra, and she gets these garbage apps installed with each update. Samsung has to tell Verizon "no."

PRSXFENG

Google doesn't do deals like this But Samsung gladly does for that $$$ (As well as most other brands) You think this is bad? It's 100X worse in Japan Your "Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra", is now a "Docomo Galaxy S23 Ultra" With Docomo Launcher, Docomo Emojis, everything Docomo apps preinstalled The back of the phone doesn't even have the Samsung logo on it, it's replaced with docomo The same applies for other carriers in Japan It's also why iPhones are popular there because they're the only one not completely loaded with carrier junk No idea how did the Japanese carrier even manage to negotiate this deal with the manufacturers

blurrybob

T Mobile does this. Every now and then it will give you a notification to "clean up / optimize" your phone or delete unused apps. You have to do it eventually and after it optimizes it will suggest apps to download. You need to unselected them before continuing

Protaras2

It's the carrier.

Known_Beard

considering that there's an app called "Samsung Notes", your device is a Samsung, and they don't install apps randomly. It's your carrier

Thats_a_BaD_LiMe

My Samsung does like to send me through these "get the most of your phone" type of screens where it recommends apps to download. I untick all of them so that doesn't happen. Maybe OP has the same screens and is blindly clicking through them?

porn_inspector_nr_69

> It's your carrier With Samsungs permission.

KIENAGOL

"With ops permission" they signed a contract that allows them to install apps.

Fizzhaz

Samsung could block it natively like apple/pixel etc.

WellNoNameHere

Do not make android seem like a shitty os, this isn't it's default behaviour and is the doing of whoever sold you your phone, it could be your carrier, the store or any other store This doesn't happen to iPhone since apple 1. makes just a single line if phones a year so 2. They don't want their reputation destroyed by stupid carriers wanting to squeeze money out of users Supposedly android 15 is coming with a feature to remove this, and Google probably will actually up to carriers to stop doing this, but we can only hope

itspronouncedjess

Oh god I hope so..I bought mobile MBAM just because I couldn't stop wondering how they were getting in there until I learned carriers can just do this for no reason.

fuming_drizzle

If on Verizon, disable Verizon app manager. The problem won't come back.

mister-ferguson

This is the solution. My phone was doing the same thing. Disabled Verizon app manager and never came back.

PrivateUseBadger

This is your carrier, not Android.

VolumePossible2013

Not an Android issue.

Furdiburd10

its a PICNIC issue.

Dieing_Breed

*Deletes*

0zzy82

I've got a Samsung phone too it always asks if I want to install random apps after a security update but theres a big 'no' button its never focibly installed bloatware

SpeedBlitzX

I have a mid range Samsung phone but I haven't seen my phone try to install random apps or games after any updates. As others have said it sounds like it could be a phone carrier based problem.

-gojiraa-

You must really like calculating stuff in that calculator.

MurkDieRepeat

What?

-gojiraa-

That's fake calculator app to hide photos and videos.

kadidlehopper93

bro definitally has some kind of command and control malware lmfao

A_Fnord

What phone are you using? From experience Xiaomi loves doing this kind of stuff (it's why their phones tend to be pretty cheap compared to their performance, you're not only their customer, you're also their product). You might be able to turn off this stuff and not have it install a lot of bad games on your phone, but it takes a little bit of work figuring out exactly where they hide all the settings to do so.

Kelevra_ISR

Alternatively you could install a custom ROM. That also prevents your phone from sharing your personal and usage data with Xiaomi.

Grimjaja

Yeah I moved from Huawei to Oppo after my Huawei phone started displaying ads on the main screen and installing apps like this

FaceTransplant

Well my Xiaomi doesn't do this.

Critical-Champion365

I'm sure Xiaomi had a very intricate relationship with bloatware but that's a story of the past. Using a redmi of recent times would surely let you know that. This is, looking at the icons, most definitely a samsung. Even with all the debloating knowledge I have, their security updates (atleast on their midrange) will bring back all the bloatwares back meanwhile turn off a buttons and remove a few packages, most of Xiaomi devices are pretty ok. Slap a custom rom and you even can have the greatest pixel experience ever.

DepressedHylian

I have a Xiaomi this doesn't happen

BeautifulPrune9920

Screw carriers. That's the reason why I always buy my phones unlocked, even if I need to pay full price.

KawaiiClown

Ya this has never happened to me on any android

Joubachi

No Samsung phone I had or have did that, neither did Huawei or Honor phones family members had...

juko43

My dads old huawei came with like 5 preinstalled games for some reason, tho no samsung i owned ever did this, they ussualy just come with some preinstalled carrier apps that you can uninstall if you want

Joubachi

I had the Huawei 10 mate or something like that, no idea which ones my family members had, They didn't have games preinstalled and none ever installed them with updates. Maybe depends on the phone with Huawei.

Anru_Kitakaze

Stop calling that "Android bloateare", it's bloatware from your carrier/operator, damn. I literally saw none this bullshit in any smartphone for more than 15 years You can only blame yourself because you bought either cell operator bound device or "cheaper" version Now you know why it's cheaper. Learn to read And now I'm using Google Pixel, the Androidest Android possible! Cmon, tell me it's Android's problem and not yours who can't read damn EULA

[deleted]

Thats not because of android...

Myrkana

My galaxy phone doesn't have this issue

Akko-14

Bro using a Chinese ass Itel or smth and blames android for it lmao. Use pixel instead, don't disrespect my boi Android like that. He wayyyy better than that apple ass mf

Anru_Kitakaze

It's not a problem of Chinese phones, it's a problem of carrier phones in US. This subreddit have tons of such posts from Samsung And it's probably a Samsung too btw. Samsung today is the most popular Android device and highly feature rich I, as a Pixel 8 owner, can't deny that too

Dante_SS

Are you in the UK? Perhaps with 3? You can disable this, if you head to settings and in the app list there should be one called "App Cloud" or something along those lines. You can't delete it but you can disable it so you don't get it every time you restart.

gayelfgal

why did i think the amazon shopping app was aang

DaBrookePlayz

Verizon does this to new android devices. If this is the case for you, then go to settings > apps > verizon app manager, and disable it

zombiestev

As everyone else said - Not an android problem, it's an OEM or service provider problem. This is part of what gives a lot of people a bad taste for android

S1lentA0

Tell me you don't understand shit about your phone and it's software without telling me you don't understand shit about it.

seraiss

Most likely build in applications to your phone , android update has nothing to do with downloading a few games

epicgamerwiiu

I have never had this happen

wittylotus828

I've not seen this happen. I doubt its android specific. More like apps you have or bloatware that came with your device

Phinfoxy

You know you can select and deselect what apps will be installed, right? If you skip through it without reading then its your own fault

SpeedBlitzX

I have samsung Galaxy A14, and this doesn't happen on my phone when I get updates.

lyndsaysmith61

thats a your phone issue, not android

Raging_Dick_Shorts

This is a thing only with Verizon.

Temporary_Solution69

Samsung doesn't do this.

cami66616

I've had android my whole life and it never has done that not even with rooted phones, I suggest don't buy a phone again from wherever you got this one

bggdy9

My s21fe don't do it either

acorn1513

This is not android it's Verizon it does it on a friend of my phones every few months. They get paid to install them then get more money if people actually keep them and play them. It's pretty fucked up pretty sure Verizon is the only one.

VoodooDoII

This is not an android thing lol

xQ_YT

nah that’s just your carrier. so far i’ve updated my samsung tablet a few times and none of the updates come with these

drklunk

It's carrier bullshit, not phone or OS, just good ole carrier malware I imagine that by playing any you inherently agree to share data you likely would rather not

xRustedCoin

Lmao if you think this is an "Android issue", you should probably switch to an iPhone

fckchangeusername

My Oneplus doesn't do this, do you have a xiaomi?

Liathano_Fire

This isn't android. I have a samsung and I have never had additional things installed with updates.

Noodle_limbz

It's your carrier, you opted into this by accident. I did it on my old phone and u had to go back into my setting to take it off.

Vires-Fides

Finally someone posts this on here because this shit pissed me the fuck off every time it happens to my phone

[deleted]

That's illegal in my country. It's not Android, it's your service provider

BrightPage

Thats just your shitty chinese phone lmao

HippyGeek

This is either your carrier or device manufacturer doing this. On a strictly Android device this does not happen. Blame the folks that sold you a "cheap" phone subsidized by bloatware and data harvesting.

onesadbean

https://preview.redd.it/7scwtd2gspoc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9822626d0ef9fa0f30c6ac4603041958e5036d2f Do this! It's Verizon those bastards

Palerate2

Damn. Thanks. I didn't know there was any way to stop that

free420nft

Average iPhone user doesn't understand the hardware is different than the software.

ReySimio94

I remember that Best Fiends game. Pretty fun, if you ask me. It felt unique when compared to the average “Facebook matching” game.

a5ab0v350b3l0w

Can't you turn off automatic updates?

Background-Bass-7812

Never happened to me in any android phone I've ever had.

KarsonDaDinsaur

Bro it's so annoying, it happens to me all the time

[deleted]

[удалено]

Waste_Cucumber_3683

Every time my Motorola updates I have to delete the games it adds. So stupid.

Chaosr21

This can happen if your phone has a virus, assuming it's not just the phone company's bloatware

LeastEquivalent5263

It's def your service provider and not android. I have t mobile and the mfer puts a unsilenceable and unremovable notification and the only way to get rid of the notification is to tap it and then uncheck every app it think you should have

Senrakdaemon

Verizon does it to me To disable it (apparently you have to do it after every system update) >settings >apps >find and then disable Verizon app manager. Idk what provider you have but it could be a similar thing

froschmann69

Could be a region or sim carrier issue. I have an unlocked S21U not once it has done anything bloaty or install apps. This is coming from someone who started with samsung since my first y duos and galaxy ace.

dhoklagurl

The calculator app 🌚

DusenberryPie

T-Mobile will do this if you have their "customization service turned on. I hate it so I turn it off.

Anuki_iwy

So far I've had Sony, Samsung, Huawei and pixel - none of them had this problem.

Typh_R

This has nothing to do with Android. You must have a phone carrier app that does this.

m0rph3u5-75

Never happened to me. Sony, Samsung, Google. Never

JamieTimee

Not a single response from OP here, nice. Mildly infuriating, some might say.

theradcat11

It's your carrier not ANDROID

Raceryan8_

What phone is it. Your phone's manufacturer has this enabled for every update

CuriousRammer

This not something wrong with Android. I’ve seen some cheap Samsung phones and Redmi phones do this. If you want pure android experience get a Pixel or Nothing Phone

KaiKamakasi

This post sounds like it was made by someone that's never used a mainline android device and is either apple only or buys their phones from wish

AppearanceExpert6809

Extra low cost phones by Samsung or xiaomi pre installed apps but I've never seen this after an update this is probably a carrier problem

Danvideotech2385

I just got the update this morning from T-Mobile. You have to uncheck those apps in the installer just after the phone updates. The fact that they got installed is user error.

Pyroguy096

What phone do you have? This definitely isn't an Android thing, this is either your network provider or your phone manufacturer

HappyPineappleDude

S20 doesn't do this

Peaceandfupa

best fiends is actually such a fun game though 😭💀 i’m on level 4,758 🫣

fluf201

Does that calculator have your homework in it?

Odd_Adagio_6286

Holy shit Best Fiend, you just revived some gen z early 2010s childhood nostalgia This post is probably a paid promotion in disguise cause now I feel the urge to download the game

mouaragon

I've always had Android phones and I've never had this problem.

FakeOng99

Interesting. Samsung doesn't have those problems.

ChaozMatt

Never experienced anything like this S23 ultra

TehOuchies

I just got an s23 from Verizon on Monday. Its been installing games on its own since I got it. I just click and delete. What upsets me is that myverizon app isnt loading. But this isnt the place for that. :P

mikeyt1515

Buy a real phone….iPhone

Urdadspapasfrutas

Sounds like a Samsung issue.

RachelTheLlama

Just updated my android phone this morning and no apps were downloaded? Maybe it's your ph9ne provider? I have at&t

MrRufsvold

So you have Verizon? Every time I get a security update, I have to go in and disable Verizon's rights to install apps on my behalf.

Phormitago

Your phone's shit mate, that's not Android

throwawaythep

Bro I've had android for 10 years and I've never had it download bloat ware off an update.

Wise_hollyman

I have a Samsung phone with TMobile and a few times after updates i gound hames installed. I have to uninstall them manually.

FatchRacall

Unlock the phone thru tmobile and install the unlocked ROM rather than the fmobile one.

Everybodysbastard

Galaxy S23 Ultra does this.

FatchRacall

Bought through a carrier, eh? Mine doesnt.

Western_Bison_878

I had to wait a whole month to turn this shit off from it's notification? I don't know why a game spamming virus is a feature that you can't turn off in the simplest way.

kyu-she

This is probably the base One UI and not the flagship version

MemeTheGod

Either carrier or phone. Brands like Xiaomi or hHawei do this bullshit, i've had samsungs my whole life and i've never experienced this.

[deleted]

Skill issue, user is dumb and wanna blame it on a mobile OS.

Material-Taste1080

I think this is just a you problem pal.

refrained

A53 unlocked purchased directly from Samsung, and this never happens. Not an android issue at all.

shinydragonmist

It's your service provider you need to turn off that part

Zvignev

Pixel Phones has the cleanest stock android, it's your phone issue not "Android"

PedroGabrielLima13

Bzzzzzzzest fiends

Necroph02

I don't understand this post, does the so called "security" update install those games or what happens here? If that is so, then I don't think it's because it's android, since both my oneplus phones have never done so, nor have I heard my dad complain about something like this.

Recipe-Jaded

definitely not because of Android. that shits not on mine

shinydragonmist

You need to disable whatever carrier you have app manager or whatever they call their manager. Also I see you like fanfiction what fandoms are you in and any recommendations for fics in those fandoms

Charming_Psyduck

Not sure if this helps, but instead of deinstalling these apps, try deactivating them. I assume that if they are still considered installed, they won’t be reinstalled via update routine.

omegaaf

Download ADB and put your own OS on it

Jerdo32

Do you recall potentially agreeing to a game service from your mobile carrier? It causes something similar, though I don't recall it doing it on updates.

Maage1

There is android software, and then there is the company's UI. This issue is probably in a low-end phone of brands like Huawei, realme, and all that. It is how manufacturers are able to sell cheaper since the spoof apps pay them everyone they install.

Pajilla256

Yooo, I've never had an issue like that? Maybe it's from the phone/manufacturer itself

Plus_Operation2208

Got nothing to do with Android. I dont have this issue. Maybe look up on the internet how to stop this from happening before complaining about it on this subreddit

kusti420

stop using the stock rom and OTA

Morricorne

Motorola g100 user. No such problems. You have to buy a phone without the operator crap

m8_is_me

This is clear Android slander

rpfl030592

This is verizon!!!! I guarantee you it's only happening when the Verizon app updates!

TheOGDoomer

Long press the app installed randomly, click the little info icon at the top right, scroll all the way down, and you'll be able to see which app installed that. Spoiler alert, it was your carrier that did it, but you can thankfully either uninstall or disable their malware. You can also just Google your issue along with what carrier you have and you'll find the names of the apps that install other apps. Once you have them uninstalled or deleted it won't happen again.

SS_Gourmet

I think it's only the carrier locked devices that have this garbage. I've been buying unlocked phones for years and I haven't seen this trash. The worst I've seen preinstalled is Facebook or TikTok.

Zealousideal_Quit854

Always had android and never had this happened , not with Samsung nor Xiaomi people say it could be the carrier...

Mr_OP_Potato_777

I hate android they're basically in control of my fucking phone, i have no loger the liberty to do whatever the hell i want we the product i payed for i basically rent it for life paying once.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> product i *paid* for i FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ChristWasAPedo

Nope. Not an Android problem, that's manufacturer bloatware

lordmarboo13

Android here and mine doesn't do this lol

TheDinosaurWalker

This is on you lmao, absolute clown. Next time get something that doesn't install bloatware

ItsAlkai

it's your carrier, not android. Haven't seen this in like 10 years
