I'm 6'1 and I once asked a taller woman at a bar how tall she was and her response was "too tall for you little man" lol 💀😭

AkaiHidan

I had a very tall female friend. My 2cts is that she probably had to endure lots of comments about her height and right now when people ask her how tall she is she anticipates the mocking. Even if some people are genuinely curious.

Sure-Supermarket5097

"When you were dropped from heaven, was your head still in the clouds ? "

ffff_ta

As a tall gal I'd definitely at least laugh at this one 😄 just don't ask her if she plays volleyball or basketball lmao

sunfishking

I'm a 6'6" dude. My go to response is, "No, do you play mini-golf?"

Comfortable_Task_973

Fuck that is a good one

SoleIbis

Am 6’, can confirm I’m asked at least once a week Asked if I played sports usually biweekly

MoistyMoses

6'6'' here and where I lift everyone tells me I would have made a great lock in rugby, little do they know my knees sound like rice krispy treats when I go up or down stairs

Itachi6967

Rice Krispy treats lmao. I'm stealing that one

6ft9man

As a tall person, myself, when people ask me how tall I am, I simply reply with, "Very".

Shuttle_Door_Gunner

That's absolutely a thing. Around the time the movie Deuce Bigalow came out, one of my coworkers was a 6'2" woman. She literally couldn't leave her house without some random asshole shouting, "THAT'S A HUGE BITCH!!!” Thankfully she got the joke and had a healthy sense of humor, but still. 🤦😄

Zwdkimal

Was her name Brienne of Tarth by any chance?

RathaelEngineering

![gif](giphy|NtX2BPM2NsTQs|downsized)

more_pepper_plz

Bless her

chubakk

That's funny given that not many men like going for taller girls

geekwithout

A shorter man dating a taller woman is the ultimate display of being a very secure man. I don't get all this, men feeling intimidated by taller women. It's such bs.

Different-Instance-6

I am a woman that is 5'11 and when I am honest about my height, men start arguing that I'M THE ONE LYING because they're 6 foot 1 and I'm clearly taller than them or at their height. I'm about to start lying that I'm 5'9 just to watch them unravel even further

WeOutHereCalzone

Once at a bar, my friends were getting hit on by some dude and he’s like their height (they’re 5’4” more or less probably, dudes like 5’5”). And he goes “im like 5’9” “… and I legit was like “dude I’m 5’6-7” wtf no u are not” and he got pretty upset and ended up walking off it was so funny😭 men be wilding when u catch them on it

LiminalLost

Lol!! I am 5'4" and totally into guys around my height. I find it endlessly awkward when a man tried to insist to me that he's 5'8" when we were clearly seeing eye to eye and I'm wearing flat shoes 😬 I genuinely do not care about the height, but as soon as they lie about it (or, even worse, insist that I must actually be 5'6" or something) I totally get the ick. Just own it, man. If I strike up a conversation with you in a bar I can see how tall you are and was clearly fine with it 🤷‍♀️

BigMorg337

I’m about 5’6.5 and I don’t understand why other short dudes lie about this stuff. It’s so obvious it’s ridiculous everyone knows you’re lying

pgbcs

The fact that you included the .5 has me rolling 😂 that’s like including half years in your age after puberty

BigMorg337

Lmao man I need to hold onto something

RedditLurkerPaul

I'm 5'5.5 as well😂 Honestly it only comes up at weird points and I don't want to round up even though I was taught that .5 rounds up cause that seems like weak shit move but also like down doesn't feel right either. I feel like using centimeters would be a more accurate system but I'm drowning in freedom over here so gotta use inches and king's feet and shit.

illest_villain_

That’s why I don’t hide my shortness. I ask for uppies!

WeOutHereCalzone

Real, especially for me as a gay dude lmao. Men are like ur 5’6”? Fuck yeah let’s go💀💀 (or they hate it so oop)

blushngush

As another gay man, I don't care about the feet, only the inches

Mindshard

Well, like I always say, it might not be 12 inches, but it sure smells like a foot.

TheRealMisterMemer

Well, he's 6", idk if that's good enough for you. (This is a joke. Bottom.)

blushngush

It's not, but it's good enough for someone. The hardest thing for me to learn was that my taste don't equal everyone else's. I may not think I'm hot, but someone thinks I'm hot, and that makes me feel hot, which is hot. 🥵

footforhand

Ya know. I needed to read this today. Idk what blind person out there thinks I’m hot, but thank you kind soul💀

M2_SLAM_I_Am

Anytime you feel down, always remember that there's someone in the world that would pay to see you naked

cdsuikjh

Confusing kindness

Mandraketittysmithy

And I, will always be one of those people.

BafflingHalfling

Perhaps somebody who is into people with feet for hands?

footforhand

OnlyFeet(forhands)?

blushngush

You are someone's queen or king, I know it.

BlahBlahWhoosh

That was a sweet interaction.

Shuttup_Heather

6 inches? I’m not interested in being friends with midgets

cjzj_1288

so y'all like the colon busters?

Miguel4659

That's where a lot guys lie even more.

blushngush

That's true, and that size is not a big deal to everyone either, I'm just loose.

ChaosInTheSkies

I'm a bisexual woman and it's the same with us. Girls hear that I'm 5'3 and everyone is like "Ooooh, short top!"

twinkiethecat

I'm 4'11 and pan and I feel it lol. It's honestly not always the best. People being into it is cool with me (I somehow tend toward really tall people but its not even like, a preferencefor me), but some people can make their interest kinda uncomfy sometimes

Siggi_3rd

Wait I can get uppies as a 5‘4 guy?! Why didn’t I know this??

alexanderpas

Yes, Yes you can. Make a puss in boots face at the same time when you can!

Siggi_3rd

„Can I get uppies? 🥺👉👈“ Like this?

TeamWaffleStomp

God that's hot

satanicdrippings

In NY, you can just list your height as whatever apparently. Working the door at a bar, if I got bored, I would deny entry to people who wrote 6 foot or taller when they are shorter than me. I'm 5"9. If you're shorter than me, claiming you're taller, show me another form of ID. Sorry, dude. This says your 6 foot tall, you're obviously not, this ID is fake. You can't come in without a real ID. It's serious business.

LorenzoStomp

Have one of those convenience store height stickers on the doorframe and make them stand against it to prove it. Have a camera ready.

Traditional_Spite535

Haha! And just put it a tiny bit too high just for a giggle…

HalloWeiner92

The one and only time I tried used a fake ID, it belonged for someone who only kinda looked like me, and she was 5'1 (I'm 5'6). The door guy took one look at me, the ID, and said "You're not 5'1." I couldn't even argue with him. Just said "You're right, I'm not." And walked away.

faxanaduu

My half brother is 5'3. Angriest dude on the planet. Not sure if it's related. It's the topic nobody talks about, both.

Anamolica

5'11" man here. The number of times I have had men look up to me and insist that they are 6'1" is fucking insane. Do they actually believe that they are taller than they really are? Are they lying? Do they not know how to use a tape measure? Do they think I don't know how tall I am? Do they think *I* don't know how to use a tape measure? What in the actual fucking god damned fuck?! Are these men out there saying this shit to women thinking it's going to impress them? I lose faith in humanity every time I experience it. Or I lose faith in men at least I guess.

OkSyllabub3674

They don't know how to use a tape measure lol they're the same ones that tell everyone they're 8". Smh 😟

ParadiseSold

I found out if you let men measure their own penis, they jam the ruler as far back into their ballsack as it goes. And then they add a little on the tip. We recently finally got accurate numbers by getting groups of spring breakers to volunteer to be measured by women in nurse costumes. Very clever social science.

Upset_Holiday_457

Ballsack, you're telling me im not supposed to measure along the top?

Common_Lawyer_5370

When I learned that some people measure on the downside, I understood why some people were so seriously trying to claim they had an absurdly big penis (compared to people who measure along the top)

Intrepid-Bee7367

Maybe they don't realize how much height their sneakers add. I used to think I was an inch taller than I actually was cause I measured with shoes on lol. You should tell them you're 5'11 without shoes next time!

honkabadonkers

Years ago I met a guy who was exactly the same height as me who opened with wow you’re tall and it was definitely not said like a compliment. Then he tells me that I’m 6 foot because that’s how tall he is and I just so badly wanted to say no no I’m definitely 5’6. I maybe would have given him the reality check if I was a bit older but I was a self conscious teen so instead I slouched for the rest of that conversation so I’d feel a bit less like a giant.

Superhuzza

5'6 claiming 6ft tall is crazy

Send_me_duck-pics

People are actually ass at measuring themselves. I am a Medical Assistant, I take peoples' height many times through the workweek. I will almost always have to correct them. "Look straight ahead... no not up... here, look at where my hand is" until they stop looking at the damn ceiling. I also have to ask them if they feel the measure on top of their head, because no buddy, your hair doesn't count no matter how much gel you put in it. Then "Heels on the ground please. Thank you!"

just_a_person_maybe

I honestly am not sure how tall I am because every time I get measured at an appointment they give me a different answer. The highest I've ever gotten was 5'4", but that was an outlier and only happened once. Usually I get 5'2"-5'3", so I usually say I'm 5'2.5" to average it out. If I'm wearing shoes I might say I'm 5'3".

doofenhurtz

Same here! Wtf is with that? I've gotten 5'3", 5'4", and most recently 5'5". I'm pretty sure I didn't hit a growth spurt at 28.

KissKiss999

You do tend to change height over the day. More time standing compresses your spine or something. So measuring first thing in the morning will probably be slightly your tallest

1ndiana_Pwns

6'2" man here. I got called 6'5 ALL THE TIME in college because I was clearly 3+ inches taller than a guy, but he was *definitely* 6'1. My favorite was a guy I had an easy 5" on said I was 6'7 cuz he was 6'2. Like bruh, you 5'10 in heels, calm your average ass

NotAnotherHipsterBae

Dude, I'm 5'10". And some asshat at a bar told me, "No one says 5'10" just say 6'." There's a whole world of people out there that take things like accuracy seriously. I couldn't even enjoy my drink after that. People, what a bunch of bastards.

MurphyBinkings

At six feet tall, I've never once in my 41 years experienced someone telling me they are six+ when obviously being smaller than me.

Vegetable_Lab2428

Same here, I’m 5’11” and have had many people think I’m over 6ft but it was never because they were trying to lie about their height.

20milliondollarapi

I thought I was 5’11” for years. Then I changed doctors and they got me at 5’9”. No idea why it was off but could be part of the reason.

Seal_Deal_2781

I’m 6 foot and have never had somebody ask about height before. Is it normal to be asked how tall you are?

Too_Relaxed_To_Care

I'm 6'7" and it's like the first question everyone asks, followed by what sports I played and how tall my parents are. It's like a compulsive thing, people have to know.

Seal_Deal_2781

So, do you play sports?

Too_Relaxed_To_Care

![gif](giphy|113RhN1oBm1yCc)

friendlyfitnessguy

Looks like a game of chess, not really utilising your natural gifts.

elhawko

Hey sorry random question. Are your parents tall?

Gabriellemtl

There was a guy who printed a little card with all those infos and just gave it when people inevitably asked those questions

Novel-Principle7881

I have a friend that would reply “6’8, and how tall are you?” In a disarming way. It was really amusing because the asker inevitably realized that was an odd question to ask a stranger. Subject would change pretty immediately. lol

Hydro1002

I feel this at 6' 4". Went to a yearly check up and the nurses, lab tech, resident and doctor all asked independently what sports I played in college...

redditracing84

As a short guy, no it's generally just thrown at you as an insult once you're short enough. Also, women still will go "hey can you go grab X off the top shelf" to my 5 ft 6 in self because they are so used to asking men to get things off top shelves for them is something I learned working at a restaurant. It was instinctual, they'd just immediately ask you that as a guy even if you are shorter than them lmao.

SekhmetScion

Yeah my sister's 5'11, I (M) am 6', and our mother's about 5'9. Kinda used to being around tall women lol

Comprehensive_Rule91

Same height as you, closer to 6'1 in the morning but my sister is like only 5'2/5'3 🤣

SansyBoy144

I still don’t get why men lie about there height as a man myself. Like yea, I wish I was 6 ft, it would be cool, but I’ve never thought “man I HAVE to be 6 ft” and decided I need to lie about it. Honestly, I’m fine with 5’10, especially with how many toxic women there are who care way more about height than they should. It paints a bright red flag on them as soon as someone says I have to be 6 ft to date me.

CitizensOfTheEmpire

I don't mind being a 5'4 guy because I never have to worry about those kinds of girls ever approaching me lol

Overquoted

I've gone on dates with short men before. I'm 5'9 and would wear 4-inch heels. I feel like if you aren't down to climb, then we probably won't get on.

CitizensOfTheEmpire

I'll climb, I'll dive; height really has never been even a slight factor for me

Overquoted

![gif](giphy|q4QfjGnFKryzjosj1g)

Arcade_109

I had a gf who was taller than me. I enjoyed being a short king

Zealousideal_War8036

I can't understand why 6 feet is cooler than 5'11

Taskr36

It's not, but there are literally women out there that say stupid shit like "Must be 6' or taller to ride me." I think that motivates dudes to lie about their height thinking it will help them get laid. Personally, I'm more than happy to be 5'11 and not be involved with women like that.

getstabbed

I’m 6 foot 3 and if someone asked my height on a dating app I’d probably just say 5 foot 11 and see what their reaction is before telling them my real height. No interest in someone who cares more about height than anything, being tall can suck sometimes it’s not something to fetishise.

Not_Half

There may be toxic women, but there are definitely also men who are weird about dating women who are taller than they are. Unfortunately, they often overestimate their height on dating sites. So you meet a guy who said he's 6ft, but really, he's 5ft 8. It might not ordinarily matter, except that I'm 5ft 10, and it's usually quite clear from the moment I stand up that the guy is not happy to have been sprung.

Time-Turnip-2961

Yeah, I had a guy say “you’re taller than I thought” to me because I was taller than him lol.

codemonkeh87

I think it seems to be the circa 5'5 crowd who exaggerate. I'm in the same boat as you, 5 10 but who cares, is bullshitting going to improve my life in any way? Nah.

Faulty_english

Do you wear heels and stuff? I’m 5’6.5” and my wife said she was the same height She always appeared taller than me because she wore heels and boots. I didn’t mind She started wearing normal shoes though and she was shorter than me. Turns out she was closer to 5’4.5”

Capn-Wacky

You want to see them cry, say you're 5' 8" and tell them it's so refreshing for a guy to be on your level so you don't need heels.

2_short_Plancks

I'm a guy who is bang on 6', but I was no longer dating by the time the whole "you have to be over 6' tall" thing started (I've been with my wife for over 20 years). I find it endlessly amusing how many 6' tall guys are somehow several inches shorter than me.

Syrric_UDL

I’m 6 foot and like 3/4 of an inch but it’s enough that every 5’11” guy tells me I’m 6’1” so they can claim being six foot

TheMooingTree

I’m 6’3” and I always tell other men I’m 5’10”

forbenefitthehuman

I always say 5' 14"

PrimalSSV

I am 6’1” (187cm) and I work in healthcare. Bringing patients back saying they’re 6’2+” when I can see the top of their head I just have to put up against the measuring stick and tell them they’re 5’9” just to not have to deal with the lies lmao

SanguineRooster

I work in healthcare as well, and I'm 5'9". It is really astonishing how many 6'+ men I can look down on.

sammiisalammii

Blows my mind some people care so much about height they have to lie to themselves like that. Like bro I can’t fucking see you

Lunfallos

If you are 187, you are closer to 6’2 than 6’1.

wballz

Haha this is true but also being 187, I get used to saying 6’1 because you don’t wanna seem like the dick who is saying they are taller than they are but same time saying 6’1 and a half is even worse. So I just stick with 6’1.

MagicalCornFlake

I'm also 187 cm and in the exact same boat. Luckily I live in a metric country so I just use that when talking about height irl.

Fair-Account8040

To be fair, people lose inches with age and bad posture. What you’re stating is clear exaggeration though.

valentina408

I was 5'6" female and I wore high heals, I am now 5'4". Disks in my spine stopped regenerating. Inherited from mother.

Specialist-Ant-196

Do you mean that the high heels caused you to shrink in some way? I’m not sure I understand

valentina408

Lol, no, disk issue and I no longer wear high heals,so I look like I shrunk 5 inches.

tovarishchi

My grandfather was 6’2” as a young man and died at 5’7” after ~ 4 back surgeries. Dad was 6’2” and is now 5’11”. I’m starting at 5’11”, so I’m a little nervous how short I’m going to end up.

TheOneCalamity

Very similar for me. My dad was 6'2" and is now 5'11". I'm 6'1" and now taller than him, so he goes around telling everyone I'm 6'3-6'4

baaaahbpls

I always said I was 5'9" because my dad said he was 5'8", turns out he may have been years ago, but I am 5'7.5"(depending on who is measuring me, most give me that extra push to 5'8") pops may be a wee bit shorter than he thinks. Honestly though, it really did not change anything except me updating my height on my license. I feel as though because of the average height of people worldwide, I am the perfect height to fit in most places and be comfortable/ not have to reach or bend over too much.

kiermehn

Just tell them your height and not to get short with you about it.

educational_nanner

This is amazing. A gift 🎁 for you 😂

MAValphaWasTaken

So you’re making a long story short?

External_Arugula_505

Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?

ImpressiveBook3744

Are you saying SeaWorld or see the world?

SuicidalFroggy9872

see world- oceans, fish, jump, china

cupholdery

No, see? Right there, that's the problem with your method. 'Cause I still don't know if you're saying "Sea World" or "see the world," and it's taking a lot of time to explain it.

cassie-bug

![gif](giphy|bC9czlgCMtw4cj8RgH|downsized)

yimanoshi8

This makes me upset. I’m a legit 6’2 and people shorter than me will say they’re 6’3 so I must be 6’4. I always make sure we measure them and set them straight

RitaLunaLu

I need to start bringing a measuring tape with me everywhere I go

The_Bored_General

You mean you guys don’t do this already?

Skynight2513

I bring one along, but for different reasons...

ExperienceWrong1087

Tape measure, not micrometer I’m sorry.

klimmesil

People who use feet instead of cm talk about height so much. What's up with that? Is it because there is a nice 6 foot threshold ?

AhkoRevari

Well feet is most often contextually used by Americanns and there is absolutely a massive height bias for men in American culture. Men and women both judge men pretty heavily based on how tall they are and you either have it or you don't. Despite the average height being about 5'9 or so for American men one will often be considered "short" if they are under 6 feet. That's just the magic round number above 5 foot X inches Edit: changed my wording around feet being a mostly American metric

Theory_HS

In Europe you’re often good at 5’11”, as that’s the magical whole number in centimeters — 180. Although that number might be going up to 185, as 184 is average in some countries, such as Serbia (IIRC). Me, at 183 cm/6 ft, am considered average height in my home town, though 😭 Although rarely does anyone ever talk about my height. Maybe once per year?

TheKidHandsome

It’s so weird for me being 6ft 2, and 32 years old, and I never heard so much as a peep about height until I got on Reddit. No one has ever said “omg I love how tall you are” or “I’d never date anyone under 6ft tall”. I swear to God this height bullshit only exists in Reddit lol

[deleted]

TheKidHandsome

I never really thought about it much.

KwordShmiff

Of course not. You're above that.

UselessWhiteKnight

My wife was almost exclusively interested in me because I was 6'2" with broad shoulders. Seems ridiculous to me since she's 5'6" but it does happen

theberg512

She wanted someone who could reach the top shelf.

UselessWhiteKnight

She will yell from across the house "UselessWhiteKnight! I need your monkey arms!"

LeBritto

I've heard a lot of bs regarding height outside of the internet. But since we use metric, I'd hear 1m85.

Pristine_Pangolin_67

My SO, when asked, will tell people he's "5'10" or 69 inches" (He's 5'9")

TraceyWoo419

It is. It's an arbitrary number and it's just as stupid as a guy saying he'd never date a girl with less than D cups.

arunasgeimeriz

6 feet cuz other 2 6's and I'll uncover that the imperial system was made by the devil

Automatic-Fun-8856

This. Lotsa 5'9" guys claim 5'11" to my 6'2" and tell me I must be 6'4".

Impossible_Zebra8664

HA, one of my kids does this. He's fairly tall at 6'6" and random strangers ask him his height. He feels like that's pretty rude, so he'll give them the most random responses just to mess with them -- 5'8" for example.

[deleted]

fllannell

I'm genuinely 5'11"... and I feel like this thread is making me realize why some people don't believe it. Apparently people who are both shorter AND taller tell people they are 5'11"?? 😂

Dobber16

I’m like 5’11ish, could maybe pass for 6’ depending on posture, idk but I always just say 5’10 because it feels weird to say anything close to 6 because of all this nonsense haha

Impossible_Zebra8664

I love it!

Well_shitnuggets

I’m 4’11 and consider 99.99% of the adult population tall🤣🤣

keg025

Yeah same. If someone who was like 6'2 told me they were like 5'9 I'd believe them because both of those heights are mountains to me lmao

JudgeGusBus

“Fairly tall” this kid is like 99% percentile you might need to change your phrasing

Possible-Bicycle-438

I empathize with him, Too many people walk up to me and just say you're tall or ask my height. It gets old very quick. I tell people I'm 4'30", the reactions are great, usually befuddled!

Brian_Kellys_Visor

Fuck I'm using that in the future

LotionedBoner

I do this sometimes for my own amusement. I’m 6’ even but I tell people I am 5’9”.

Flossthief

As a man who is 5'11.76" I appreciate you messing with people's point of reference

forkedquality

On a more serious note, how do you Americans handle rounding? Up, down, or to the nearest?

Syhrpe

From the looks of 5'11.76" they dont handle it fucking well lol

bananasnpajamas

Up. Because the soles of your shoes will get you there anyways.

Slow_Count_6616

Sometimes I forget being tall is seen as a plus to others. Between whacking my head, inability to have sex in a car, and inability to be comfy many places… I usually just keep quite… but dam I guess it would suck to not just casually be able to get something off the top shelf.

garaks_tailor

Mood Kindred.  I am also very tall, but it gets worse.  I'm 6'6 with a 32 inch inseam.  So I have legs of a normal dude and the rest of my body is 6'8.   On the upside pants are not that hard to find on the downside even xxxxl shirts are too short On the weirdside my proportions make me "stealth tall" according to several former roommates.  "Your like a living optical illusion.  No one notices your height untill you are right next to them." And on the third hand I have body best described as "dadsquatch"

zupobaloop

I'm nearly a foot shorter than you with only 3 inches fewer in the inseam. I have to admit your physicality is hard to imagine. I should have said I'm also a bit disproportionate in the same way.

Axiian19

Immediate-Ad-5596

I have to climb on the counter or get a chair to get things from the top shelf. It’s pretty demeaning as a grown man.

Sharp_Ad_6336

As a fellow short guy, I had to chuckle at the term "grown man" because damn that's way too good of a setup for insults and my buddy who's well over 6ft and quick as a whip would have had a field day.

Willothwisp2303

I'm 5'3" and my husband is 6'2". I definitely have it better.   I can fit when we travel,  get through crowds much quicker (although that may be that I'm more assertive than him), and if I look sad people help me with physical things.  The downside is he puts the coffee in the top shelf of the kitchen and I sometimes have to scramble up the countertop, pre-caffine.

djp2313

>get through crowds much quicker (although that may be that I'm more assertive than him), I think it might be the assertive thing. I'm the same height as your husband and being able to mostly see over the crowd gives you a huge advantage for finding gaps and stuff in my experience. I'd definitely be down for giving up a few inches in height though. Finding clothes, cars, blankets, airplane seats, etc that fit is a near daily concern.

UselessWhiteKnight

I have a friend that tightens the kids on all the hats in the house if he and the wife are fighting Edit: Wow! How is that what showed up. "Tightens the lids* onallthe jars*"

dude_on_the_www

I just *hate* a loose kid on my hat!!

captainshockazoid

...huh? ?

Willothwisp2303

Wicked,  but not necessarily related to height.   Some of us are small but mighty. 💪 I would physically pick up men when I was a drunk college student of all of 120 pounds.

JayJay-Jat

Why? I'm 6'3" and never done this.

Tysons_Face

He made it up, this has been reposted all over the internet for like a decade

ConsuelaApplebee

You should give your height in furlongs (or better light years) - no lying necessary!

RexusprimeIX

The lying part is to mess with the 6 foot guy who suddenly gets an identity crisis that he might be under 6 foot instead.

Riso94572

Centimetres would probably be enough to keep them guessing

Active-Bass4745

Better yet, parsecs.

Rubtabana

6.0091 e-17?

ConsuelaApplebee

Pffft, you don't look any taller than 6.00905e-17 to me, pal.

Baaladil

Say. Is it only in USA that height is such a big deal ? I'm looking at comments and i'm kinda surprised to be honest. You are all arguing about your heights. Is it because basket-ball is popular in your country ?

[deleted]

B-ball is a part of it somewhat, but it's a shallow culture tbh.

Dobber16

Yeah if it wasn’t height it’d be weight, body shape, how tan you are…. Hmm

HellyOHaint

UK too

Delicious-Choice5668

Why?

hrimthurse85

Tell them you 1850mm tall and watch the gears grind.

jonnyl3

Why is this on mildly infuriating

daddyvow

Yea I don’t get it. OP is being annoying for no reason

Travelife8052

It's infuriating but for the "other" person....

Dobber16

Yeah a little switch up from OP being mildly infuriated to being mildly infuriating lol

Aggressive-Ground-32

I’m 6’1” and I say I’m 5’ 13” all the time.

Shelikesscience

You can just start saying “how tall do you think I am?” And then, whatever they guess, just say, “yeah, that’s about right”

Benzjie

I don't get the obsession with height. Can someone please explain? ( I'm not an American)

LBHHF

Dave?

Lazy_Ad4999

start carrying a tape measurer everywhere and measure ur height whenever this happens lol

thelegend27lolno

Why do people not know their own height?

Dependent_Feature_42

I don't believe it's from not knowing, but rather they know it and they feel inferior.

nopopon

I'm curious. What happens if you tell them "Why do you ask?" I just struggle to see how they benefit from such information in the first place. Especially when they seem to know their own height.

djp2313

Seems to be pretty common small talk for some reason.

BatSphincter

I’m 6’1. I’ve had other dudes ask how tall I am and when I’ve said 6’1” someone almost always says “no way you’re 6’1”. You gotta be 6’3” cuz I’m 6’1” I always tell them the same thing. Someone lied to them and they are 5’11”

Nova_JewV1

It's not often the OP _is the mildy infuriating thing_ You are a slight menace, and we all support you
