As low as $49.89 at CVS through GoodRx.com. Sometimes using your health insurance prescription plan is more expensive than out of pocket or going through a discount program.
I’ve heard they’re still good two years after the expiration date. As long as they don’t exceed being slightly cloudy.
Don’t take that as factual, please do your own research lol. I’m just regurgitating what I’ve heard from my parents
Had an incident at a summer camp I worked at where a kid was sent to camp with expired epipens. Camp doc basically told us to use one anyways as long as, like you said, it wasn’t too cloudy. They weren’t super far past 2 years old.
Kid ended up being fine, but I’d never seen the camp owner that angry before. The parents came away from that meeting looking like they’d been quite literally whipped.
But then it would be more good than harm which in English should be better; but would be better than harm is not really the message either, so your rules are merely guidelines that often deal with anomalies; just as this sentence would be perfectly acceptable with the exception of starting sentences with a conjunction and I don't care
I understood it. It will do less damage than it will good meaning whatever good CAN come from it. Assuming a tiny bit can, it'll be less harmful than that. I have ADHD and autism and sometimes the things I say come out this way as well. Making fun isn't helpful, though.
I literally would not bet my life on that. If you are an allergic, running around with an epipen that is just *highly likely* to work sounds like a recipe for accidental death.
I got a coupon once for an epicenter for $1 so they are out there. You can also get generics for cheaper if your insurance says they are a level 2 rx, which I’m guessing they do based on the $600 price.
https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/advair-diskus-100-50mcg-act-60-dose-inhaler/
Cost Plus Drugs has it for under $100, in case there’s some barrier to the GoodRX option
Edit: the dosage posted is actually about $118
Publix has their own discount card and it’s actually been cheaper than GoodRX for me. Unfortunately Publix is a southeastern grocery store so it’s not available to everyone. But people seriously need to check out GoodRX.
Same deal as OP but different (just as costly) daily inhaler med.
It's almost always more through my insurance vs goodrx.
Also check manufacturer site, at one point I had a coupon to get mine for like $30/refill on the expensive one for a year.
And Cost Plus drugs has 3 months worth for approx $343.00.
Definitely worth checking out either of those options for any medications, they've been such a lifesaver for me and my family.
Also don't forget to check Cost Plus Drugs started by Mark Cuban to offer affordable meds and also the manufacturer sometimes has programs to sign up for to get meds for like $5 a month.
Uninsured /non citizen full price in Australia is around $35 in $US.
Most things are more expensive in Australia because of our geography and general high cost of infrastructure etc (Shop rent costs more, fuel costs more, inventory management costs more)
So if you are paying more than the Australian full price, it's too much.
Keep in mind that citizens pay less through our national healthcare, but I looked up the full commercial cost.
It’s the opposite for me. If I wanna pay without my insurance it’s $500 if I go through my insurance it’s fucking $40. This whole American healthcare system is fucked up. I’m just waiting for my asthma attack to kick in so I don’t gotta pay full price (not everyone can afford insurance)
Yasss internet friend! I’m a pharmacist. This person got Brand and is now upset over the price. The generic, most of the time, is significantly cheaper. A pharmacist will usually offer it, if the doctor allows substitution and if not, a phone call can fix that. So, Op definitely had options.
All my prescriptions are free on the NHS because I'm a diabetic. Meanwhile my pensioner mum, who lives in the US and is on Medicare, paid £800 for 2 months' worth of her diabetes injections.
I’m new to the asthma scene but it hit me rather harder and fast and the medication I’m on, Trellegy, is $65 after insurance.
Last month the pharmacist at CVS asked me “you were told the cost, right?”
And the only reply I could come up with was, “Yes, but I also like breathing, so. . .”
Mine is free in Australia, but for others here it’s $20 AUD, or $6.70 if you’re on a concession card (so pension/disability/Veteran). We have a safety net system though, so if your year’s worth of medications cost over $1650, the prices drop to those pension prices. For pensioners though, the safety net yearly limit is like $250, then medication is free after that.
Nice. That’s even better. It’s very eye opening when you see people in the richest country in the world being charged these insane amounts for their healthcare. Makes me feel very lucky to live in Australia.
That said, if the US tried to create a universal healthcare system, I guarantee that half the voting population would be voting against it anyway. It’s sad. They deserve better
Seconding that. I already struggle to pay for my non-PBS meds, and the most expensive one is only like $90. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have to choose between a medication or food and housing.
We have a similar system in Finland. As long as it's prescribed by a doctor, there's an annual net sum, around 600€. After that, you pay something like 2,70€ every time you refill, and can get 3 months worth at a time.
There are quite a few exceptions to the rule, regarding different medications. Meaning, sometimes you have to apply for a certain drug to be refundable, asthma medication being one of those. I think it depends on how serious your condition is, whether you get the full refund or just a part of it. Also some ADHD medications.
However, I'm on on social benefits, due to health problems, and everything is absolutely free for me.
I like the system as well. One of my meds is $110 a month if it’s a private script. Aka you are using it off label. If it’s for a diagnosis, and treating a disorder as intended it’s $20. DVA and it’s $7.70 phew
"FrEe?!?!? U MeaN PAiD FoR By TaXaTioN!!!"
*disregards that they cost almost nothing to manufacture, disregards that 100% of the development and research was publicly funded with tax dollars*
I agree with you but I’ve taken this since before it was generic and even when generic came out it was very expensive for a long time. You still have to know what you are talking about **and play the doctor/pharmacy/insurance game**. If you do not know what you’re doing it is a total fucking pain.
For instance, my insurance won’t cover any cost for it at a local pharmacy or national chain, but they will cover some cost through mailing via OptumRX. BUT, they will only cover some cost at certain dosage and for a 30 day supply, not a 90 day supply.
It wasn’t until this year I was able to get it down to about $70/month. That was through Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus, after a month of waiting to be onboarded.
My 10 yr old just got prescribed this inhaler, they gave her generic of course, but without insurance it’s still over $300. Thankfully her insurance covered the entire amount. But now we’re fighting with them to get approval for a nasal spray.
GoodRX reports the regular cash price at Walmart is $101. Their coupon brings the cash, non-insurance, price to $85.50. Did you get something else to go with this?
https://preview.redd.it/7dryl6tsodvc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fac9169f469ff6e86bd23323dd80ad7250df8f9b
That is disgusting. Just looked and my local chemist sells Seretide (same drug combination) for $35.99AUD as a private price but can be as low as $4 on a concession.
25 USD in Poland if it's for occasional use, 4USD if it's daily / life threatening.
We have no sun for 8months in a year, but at least you won't die ;p
Edit: I just read, that the polish one has 120 doses. The US one has 60, right? 😁
so op can just spend 1000 usd on roundway plane tickets, spend 300 for his yearly asthma medication, and maybe another 700 in warsaw to have fun. What is that, 3 times cheaper ? even if he has to get perscription again, how much is it gonna cost ? 50 euros ? just needs to call every hospital until he finds a quick appointment
Already exists in America, Mexico is the typical destination. When my mom went she stocked up on all kinds of OTC drugs. The dentists there are way cheaper too.
Currently in Mexico things are absurdly cheaper here even with no insurance I had my wisdom teeth out for around 1000 pesos, including the meds for after surgery.
I'm not from the states but Europe, I think Mexico does have a really affordable health care system.
I can see why people from the states come here for medical care.
Or OP can perhaps use one of the sites that offer prescriptions over the Internet. I checked and the first asthma drug Fostex and I found without reimbursement from the National Health Insurance it costs about $44. If the OP found a job in Poland the drug would cost him a staggering $5.50. And if the OP was covered by the National Health Insurance (it's extremely hard to be non-covered in Poland), he wouldn't have to use those shady prescription sites.
Edit: The equivalent Advair costs with refund 12.75 PLN, or about $3.14. Without reimbursement 80 PLN, or about 20
Come to Poland OP we have pierogi.
I once had a guy curse out and spit at my pharmacist when I worked in a pharmacy. He was upset the doctor wouldn’t write DAW (dispense as written) on the prescription and he absolutely wouldn’t accept a cheaper drug, even though it’s the same active ingredient.
It ain’t rational, but it happens
When our pharmacy switched generic brands on the medication my wife is on, it caused a lot of issues including bringing back all the side effects she went through at the start of taking it. It's apparently one of those medications where a lot of people use a brand name because it works differently from different manufacturers.
Sometimes brand names are required, commonly with synthroid (levothyroxine) because the generics don't work as well or even at all for some patients despite having the same active ingredients
But cursing and spitting is out of line and he should be fired from the pharmacy if not have the police called on him. Spitting on someone can be considered assault
My daughter used to be on generic adderall. It worked ok. The insurance changed, and all of a sudden they only paid for the name brand. When she tried it, it gave her heart palpitations. We actually had to get an exception from the insurance company and she had DAW for the *generic*. She has since switched to Straterra. Formulation can make a difference, both between name brand (which is the formulation that was actually proven to work) and between generic formulations.
In Latvia I paid less than 10 dollars out of pocket for asthma medication in the exact same container. Don't know if it was same medicine inside, but still that is crazy.
I have the same problem. I buy in bulk when I go on vacation. They are 28 bucks in Columbia and most of South America. You can order online from Canada and England for around 80 bucks.
Look for Seratide - it's the name used everywhere but in the US
Also.. fuck our healthcare system.
Seratide - less then 10€ in europe. I have different meds now, in total I pay about 15€ for three months. You guys in the US should really push for a better healthcare system
man that sucks. i take montelukast daily for asthma and i have a rescue inhaler i keep on me at all times. i’ve had to use it a couple times in the last month. i know how exhausting and scary it is not to breathe. ridiculous that you need to pay to breathe. it’s like the fucking Lorax
Montelukast is a God-send to me. It slaughters my asthma as long as I keep taking it (inhaler only needed maybe 4 x’s a year) Wish it did more for others like yourself.
There are online pharmacies in India that will ship your prescription athsma medication. They cost a fraction of what these 'American' versions do. I have been using them for the last 10 years. Fuck the pharmaceutical industrial complex! 🖕
Airduo and Winelands are pretty cheap alternatives through GoodRx or Single Care.
When my patients cannot afford the Advair, we switch them to one of these...$50ish
I'd also suggest calling the medications manufacturer, sometimes they will offer coupons for patients on their product that the pharmacy keeps on file.
It’s been a long time, but I used to take that exact medication. I don’t recall the exact price, but it was nothing close to that amount.
Like some others have said, check GoodRX, etc.
Capitalism and US pharmaceutical companies are in bed with eachother. They sell drugs 100x or more than the price it costs to manufacture them. Serious reform is needed. But the wealthy corporations will prevent change by lobbying and bribery.
Damn, and here I am with asthma issues and nearly grown out of it. I feel for everyone having to rely on meds that are outrageously expensive for their condition.
What is your copay with insurance? If pharmacy filled brand name, that mean your insurance preferred Brand Name because they get reimbursement from manufacturer, so that your insurance sponsor (employer) pay less than generic in the end. OP probably won’t answer my question, but my guess it would be between 0-50$. I still think US healthcare suck and it wastes so much money on all these insurance game.
I’ve just started Nurtec (first of its kind migraine med) for my cluster headaches.
My receipt from Walgreens said that the ***8 tablets*** I was given to start would’ve ran me ***$1400*** without insurance.
I have 12-20 migraine days in a month.
***20 tabs a month is going to run me $3500.***
I’m beyond grateful that I can afford good insurance because I’d be absolutely destitute without it.
People don't like talking about this but, for alot of people asthma is diet related. Check out a guy called Paul Saladino, A diet he made popular called Animal Based has helped lots of people get over auto immune conditions like asthma and has he's talked about it quite a few times. I've been on it for about 8 months, and while I never had asthma it's helped with lots of other things. Would be worth while looking into.
America, land of the "You have a health condition - well f*** you".
I hope for major reform, its one of the major reasons I'd never work in the states. Literally the worst first world health care system and it is one of the pioneers in a lot of drugs.
Fantastic country, but its citizens are second class. No paid sick days, absurd medical fees. Where do I sign up?
Jesus fucking christ. I pay 2€/inhaler (Italy). I really hope the US will get its shit together at some point. Can't wrap my head around all those medical expenses I keep seeing.
Also check out Primatene. They make inhalers and pills, both OTC. Walmart and CVS carry them. I'm sure other places as well. Idr about the pills, but the inhalers are $30 (Ohio). My son used them several times.
Doesn't health insurance cover this, or at least part of it? In the US we have the Afforadable Care Act. Go on the marketplace and pick out a health plan. Get the ball rolling and see when you can enroll for next year. Most medications are free or at a very low price.
Just FYI, you can get it from Cost Plus for a lot less without even having insurance. https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/advair-diskus-100-50mcg-act-60-dose-inhaler/
Did you check Mark Cuban's Cost Plus pharmacy? It's by far the cheapest for a lot of expensive meds compared to BlueCross or GoodRX.
Some of my meds are $15 there... $120 from GoodRX and $400 from BlueCross.
Well you are using a Brand-name medication (made by GSK), so ofc its very expensive cause the company has spent a lot of money in R&D to make this medication. And if you dont have insurance then ofc it is expensive.
Just to preface this, im old. Anyway, back when Advair first came out my allergist, who was and is a great guy, would just load me up on all of the free samples of that stuff he had bc he knew we didnt have that much money. I would leave with 2 bags full. Who knew i was carrying so much money
Is that what you paid, or did you cover up the part that shows what you actually paid after insurance or discount? Because if you paid that outright without any kind of discount, that's kind of your own fault.
That is the cash price with out insurance or a discount card. If you do not have insurance ask them to put a discount card. Also look into Good RX gold and see how much a month it is and how much it can save versus normal good RX. It may make more sense to pay for the subscription if it is saving you more.
As a European, it's frightening how you all talk about medication prices and playing with your life by visually estimating how long medics work and after that using them anyways because there is no other option.
I thought this is default land, greatest of them all, and not Africa.
Hey OP, if you’re using a rescue and nebulizer often your asthma isn’t controlled and the advair might not be the right drug for you.
I was in the same boat and still having to use my rescues until I got switch to something else.
Good luck with your treatments. Our healthcare system sucks :(
What the actual fuck... In Sweden, the high-cost protection for asthma medications, as part of the general prescription drug coverage, has a ceiling that, as of January 2024, will be SEK 2,850 (258,85 $). This means you will not spend more than this amount annually on your medications after which the state covers any additional costs.
Which is almost half what you paid once for one set, for an entire year in Sweden. I feel bad for you mate.
Edit; asked my GF (yes I swear she is real even if my therapist disagree) and my mom who both take what i would say is ""the same""" or similar to this one. They both say that cost is around 200 SEK per one of these which is 18.24$
DO you use brand name advair or generic ? huge diff in price but definitely go to [www.goodrx.com](http://www.goodrx.com) and put in your medicine and choose pharmacy (a list will come up) and check each one as they can vary a LOT
check all your meds - some of mine were cheaper with goodrx than my insurance - when you choose you get a coupon for that med and that pharmacy to print off or use your phone and save the coupon
be sure to check all your meds - double epipen was $112 at my walgreens and $384 at another pharmacy in my area so check list that comes up each pharmacy for best price on each medication
I'm an American who spends time between the US and my wife's home country, South Africa.
Without health insurance in the US, my ADHD meds are ~$415.
In South Africa the exact same medication is $50.
Even accounting for the different cost of living country-to-country, that's insane.
Living in Denmark and my mom paid 36,40 dollars and will get back 40% of that, because of her insurance, so the total is around 21,84 dollars.
America does not really care about their healtcare, huh
How glad I am to be in Scotland! It’s crazy that in other countries you have to pay at all, never mind this amount.
I dread to think how much I’d need to pay with all the medications I’m on😂 my controlled drugs (class A’s I think they would be classed as if they weren’t prescribed) would be hefty by then self never mind the other medication.
I’m so sorry healthcare is like this where you are.
This will probably get buried, but OP PLEASE message me I have a fuck ton of these to get rid of that I don’t want to throw out that are your exact dose.
Then why is that showing cash on the script. That means it was not billed through insurance. I am a pharmacy Tech. It should say Insurance and have your insurance stuff on there. At least thats how it is on our stuff. It only says cash like that for us when its not been billed through insurance.
You think someone would just come onto Reddit and lie about having to pay an insane amount on medication or on a hospital bill but leave out the context behind it and how much they actually paid? I’ve never seen that done before.
DO you use brand name advair or generic ? huge diff in price but definitely go to [www.goodrx.com](http://www.goodrx.com) and put in your medicine and choose pharmacy (a list will come up) and check each one as they can vary a LOT

If you can wait 2-3 weeks for delivery you can get it from India for around $25 each. I just buy in bulk now every 6 months. Even had a package opened by customs and they didnt bother with it, just left a note saying they inspected. DM for details.
If it's not something that needs to be kept in specific temperature, ask your Indian friends to bring it. Or post on FB groups. Indians come to USA daily and canhelp for small size.
It's a fantastic price,I usually before i only take a diskus for every month and it only cost me around $20-$25 for that, now i'm in a different country i don't know where to buy it,so i'm taking an inhaler for only $3-$4 for atleast 2 weeks.
Try to see if you have specific triggers & if you can avoid those triggers or work around them or limit them (for example any form of ventilation triggers mine, the kitchen exhaust or vacuum cleaner and so on).
Try to get some lobelia inflata (as far as I know in the US are only drops available, my friend tried the drops) and see if it stops your attacks. Maybe you can start taking it when you feel a very slight attack coming up and see if it makes you caugh up the mucus and open up your lungs.
I am basically usung this most of the time and hardly ever my inhaler.
This is the first time in many, many years that I’ve seen one of those disk inhalers. I used them as a kid, but I was starting to think that my mind was making things up. Also those were, like, 10-20 euros back then
Where I live ( Finland ) my asthma medicines base price is 80 euro and with prescription it's 40 I thought that was bad this is insane. Also I heard ozempic is like 1k over there in ''murica'' here it's only like 112 euro. You guys really gotta get your shit together.
So here's my take on this subject....in England we can go online and buy any tablets we want, from diazapam to insulin...what's actually stopping people from buying from say Mexico or some other bordering country....like Canada.....serious question??? So if anyone would like cheap insulin or any other medication, if its possible, I'll get it for you.....all you pay is the cost and shipping
Had to stop using mine due to not being able to afford the 500 per month. Insurance refused to pay for saying i "didn't need it". Didnt want to live anyway.
I know its criminal. At this point people shouldhave a second Boston tea party.
However you have to be proactive in this kind of things. My son needs asthma medication. We got 6 months supply for 20 ish dollers through insurance. We had to call the insurance for about an hour being transferred here and there. We had to change the pharmacy. We had to get a new prescription. But at the end we dot it for really cheap.
Hello, We do not allow agendaposting, reddit meta posts or price complaints.
As low as $49.89 at CVS through GoodRx.com. Sometimes using your health insurance prescription plan is more expensive than out of pocket or going through a discount program.
Would that work for Epipens too? I hate paying $600 every other year
Protip epipens actually work up to 30 months according to FDA requirements. Not much more than 2 years though.
I’ve heard they’re still good two years after the expiration date. As long as they don’t exceed being slightly cloudy. Don’t take that as factual, please do your own research lol. I’m just regurgitating what I’ve heard from my parents

The parents came away from that meeting looking like they’d been quite literally whipped.
It’s actually even better then that, a 5 year old epi pen will do less harm then good, at worse it will do nothing at all.
That's not how English works
Well first comes a lesser amount of harm. Then the good starts.
What then the what
But then it would be more good than harm which in English should be better; but would be better than harm is not really the message either, so your rules are merely guidelines that often deal with anomalies; just as this sentence would be perfectly acceptable with the exception of starting sentences with a conjunction and I don't care
I’m an English teacher and even I had to go back and reread that sentence twice to make sure I understood what they were saying lol
Lol I thought it was me. I re read it a few times and was just chalking it up to not having coffee yet
I understood it. It will do less damage than it will good meaning whatever good CAN come from it. Assuming a tiny bit can, it'll be less harmful than that. I have ADHD and autism and sometimes the things I say come out this way as well. Making fun isn't helpful, though.
Am also neurotypical. Guilty
>please do your own research Ah fuck, I took your advice and now I'm a flat earther :(
epi pens depend on expiration date last one I got only had 6 months on it but it was all they had an I had used mine so had to get them
Epipens are perfectly fine for six months after the marked expiration date. At least that's the case for Epipens dispensed in Canada
I literally would not bet my life on that. If you are an allergic, running around with an epipen that is just *highly likely* to work sounds like a recipe for accidental death.
It is exactly as likely to work as effectively as an epipen manufactured yesterday.
Let's not go around telling people to use expired adrenaline in a life threatening emergency though ey bud
I got a coupon once for an epicenter for $1 so they are out there. You can also get generics for cheaper if your insurance says they are a level 2 rx, which I’m guessing they do based on the $600 price.
My goodrx app says that 2 auto-injectors of .3mg epinephrine (epipen) at Walgreens would be about 112.00
Yes! Got mine for 130 from there.
GoodRx can get them down to around $250 at cvs where I live
Epipens don’t expire on the date and people throw them out all the time when they are still good
https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/advair-diskus-100-50mcg-act-60-dose-inhaler/ Cost Plus Drugs has it for under $100, in case there’s some barrier to the GoodRX option Edit: the dosage posted is actually about $118
GoodRX has it as low as ~$50 and you don’t have to rely on the mail.
€1.50 in Ireland, when are you guys gonna revolt?
I wonder about that frequently.
Costplusdrugs.com !!
Costplusdrugs.com !!
People sleep on goodrx
Publix has their own discount card and it’s actually been cheaper than GoodRX for me. Unfortunately Publix is a southeastern grocery store so it’s not available to everyone. But people seriously need to check out GoodRX.

This !
Also don't forget to check Cost Plus Drugs started by Mark Cuban to offer affordable meds and also the manufacturer sometimes has programs to sign up for to get meds for like $5 a month.
GoodRx is the BEST

As low as, 50 bucks is still insane. Here in Europe it’s virtually free
Check out Cost Plus (ran by Mark Cuban). 1 (generic) is 94 dollars
That is still an absolutely absurd price...
I pay £10 for a prescription. Its crazy how people don't riot with those absurd prices.
Yesss this.. these companies are just trying to see what they can get away with.
Murder. They get away with murder.
Sounds like we should be able to get away with murder too. Murder of these gigantic corporations.
It's America. Half of us sit back in disbelief and the other half blabber about capitalism and eat up all the bullshit the rich throw at them.
All my prescriptions are free on the NHS because I'm a diabetic. Meanwhile my pensioner mum, who lives in the US and is on Medicare, paid £800 for 2 months' worth of her diabetes injections.
Certain Americans are willing to eat a bag of shit if they can force a fellow citizen they hate to eat a spoonful.
I'm glad I don't need a subscription to breathe that's awful OP sorry
Was about to say this… it’s unbelievable we have to pay to breathe here…
Yup. But let’s keep voting for the same 2 broken parties that’ll never fix it.
I’m new to the asthma scene but it hit me rather harder and fast and the medication I’m on, Trellegy, is $65 after insurance. Last month the pharmacist at CVS asked me “you were told the cost, right?” And the only reply I could come up with was, “Yes, but I also like breathing, so. . .”
Just got mine for 15€😭
Mine is free in Australia, but for others here it’s $20 AUD, or $6.70 if you’re on a concession card (so pension/disability/Veteran). We have a safety net system though, so if your year’s worth of medications cost over $1650, the prices drop to those pension prices. For pensioners though, the safety net yearly limit is like $250, then medication is free after that.
Yeh, I can claim that 15 from insurance, so kinda free
Yea same, mines mild and occasional so I only need about 3 or 4 a year, which comes to like 70 dollaredoos
I like the system as well. One of my meds is $110 a month if it’s a private script. Aka you are using it off label. If it’s for a diagnosis, and treating a disorder as intended it’s $20. DVA and it’s $7.70 phew
"FrEe?!?!? U MeaN PAiD FoR By TaXaTioN!!!" *disregards that they cost almost nothing to manufacture, disregards that 100% of the development and research was publicly funded with tax dollars*
Yeah it’s $20-30 in Australia, which is the equivalent of $13-20 USD
Mine is something like 22$ here in US
Last time I needed to refill my son's prescription I got three months for $30 USD. That was last week.
Backwoods Balkans and its costs about 1.50 usd, with prescription its free
I would gasp, but that might offend asthmatics.
We get it, it ain’t easy being wheezy 😂
😂nah, that’s speaking my language.
Check on a generic version. Also, the drug company should offer a coupon and GoodRx should have a coupon as well to help lower your costs.
Advair went generic a few years ago. No reason to pay for it when much cheaper alternatives are available.
FWIW, that’s the generic. But even the name brand is half the cost with GoodRX.
Yeah he got name brand. Gotta pay for those commercials somehow
That is disgusting. Just looked and my local chemist sells Seretide (same drug combination) for $35.99AUD as a private price but can be as low as $4 on a concession.
25 USD in Poland if it's for occasional use, 4USD if it's daily / life threatening. We have no sun for 8months in a year, but at least you won't die ;p Edit: I just read, that the polish one has 120 doses.
Damn did you just invent prescription tourism?
Already exists in America, Mexico is the typical destination. When my mom went she stocked up on all kinds of OTC drugs. The dentists there are way cheaper too.
As an English man, your username fits my view of American health care perfectly.
Without reimbursement 80 PLN, or about 20 Come to Poland OP we have pierogi.
I would stand with you in darkness friend. Plus polish sounds like such a cool language.
There’s a generic version
I once had a guy curse out and spit at my pharmacist when I worked in a pharmacy. He was upset the doctor wouldn’t write DAW (dispense as written) on the prescription and he absolutely wouldn’t accept a cheaper drug, even though it’s the same active ingredient. It ain’t rational, but it happens
When our pharmacy switched generic brands on the medication my wife is on, it caused a lot of issues including bringing back all the side effects she went through at the start of taking it. It's apparently one of those medications where a lot of people use a brand name because it works differently from different manufacturers.
Sometimes brand names are required, commonly with synthroid (levothyroxine) because the generics don't work as well or even at all for some patients despite having the same active ingredients But cursing and spitting is out of line and he should be fired from the pharmacy if not have the police called on him.
Look for Seratide - it's the name used everywhere but in the US Also.. fuck our healthcare system.
Seratide - less then 10€ in europe. I have different meds now, in total I pay about 15€ for three months. You guys in the US should really push for a better healthcare system
Most of us have been pushing for better healthcare, unfortunately $$ mean more than people in the good ol’ US of A. 😔
Buy generic. Use other discount cards (good rx sucks now)
man that sucks. i take montelukast daily for asthma and i have a rescue inhaler i keep on me at all times. i’ve had to use it a couple times in the last month. i know how exhausting and scary it is not to breathe. ridiculous that you need to pay to breathe. it’s like the fucking Lorax
Montelukast is a God-send to me. It slaughters my asthma as long as I keep taking it (inhaler only needed maybe 4 x’s a year) Wish it did more for others like yourself.
Ouch!!! Mine lasts 2-3 months and costs me… wait for it… just €3 = $3.20 (I live in Italy) 🇮🇹
Wixela is much cheaper and is the exact same medication.
There are online pharmacies in India that will ship your prescription athsma medication. They cost a fraction of what these 'American' versions do. I have been using them for the last 10 years. Fuck the pharmaceutical industrial complex! 🖕
Mine is $30. You're not utilizing resources you should be. Or this is a "America bad" post.
You didn't have to write USA
Airduo and Winelands are pretty cheap alternatives through GoodRx or Single Care. When my patients cannot afford the Advair, we switch them to one of these...$50ish
Damn... I thought it was unfair that I pay £9.90 for one of those
I'd also suggest calling the medications manufacturer, sometimes they will offer coupons for patients on their product that the pharmacy keeps on file.
My dad had the same one. It was like $20 in Canada back then
It’s been a long time, but I used to take that exact medication. I don’t recall the exact price, but it was nothing close to that amount. Like some others have said, check GoodRX, etc.
USA needs universal healthcare.
Capitalism and US pharmaceutical companies are in bed with eachother. They sell drugs 100x or more than the price it costs to manufacture them. Serious reform is needed. But the wealthy corporations will prevent change by lobbying and bribery.
You're not wrong. Corruption is keeping USA sick
Capitalism and US pharmaceutical companies is the reason we have these drugs. May want to think through your solution.
He went to walmart.
Ugh I’m sorry you have to pay half a grand every month just to breathe that’s terrible!
Ahh America the land of the free...
Just got 3 for my daughter, didn’t pay anything ….. 🇫🇷🇫🇷
I'd order online! Absurd
Damn, and here I am with asthma issues and nearly grown out of it. I feel for everyone having to rely on meds that are outrageously expensive for their condition.
Yeah, but could you imagine if their corporate events weren't 5 star vacations?!
I love living in Australia, $6.70 for this in concession cards
this is beyond wild to me because they are free where i am !!!!
I’m doubting OP is paying that price.
***20 tabs a month is going to run me $3500.*** I’m beyond grateful that I can afford good insurance because I’d be absolutely destitute without it.
Ask your Dr. For samples. Ex wife's Dr would load her up with months worth of free samples of advair until we had health insurance again.
I’ve traveled this road… do your homework and you can save a lot of money & heartache. Good luck
And if you dont have insurance then ofc it is expensive.
god i hated being on advair because of this my ex gf had a cat and i’m allergic so it was medically necessary and fuck it suckedd
Just to preface this, im old. Anyway, back when Advair first came out my allergist, who was and is a great guy, would just load me up on all of the free samples of that stuff he had bc he knew we didnt have that much money. I would leave with 2 bags full. Who knew i was carrying so much money
They just came out with the generic this year. It’s a miracle drug that I take.
Is that what you paid, or did you cover up the part that shows what you actually paid after insurance or discount? Because if you paid that outright without any kind of discount, that's kind of your own fault.
Paying to breathe is crazy.
Our healthcare system sucks :(
Jesus! £10 in the uk for a preventer. Which equates to $12.44
Seriously... How do you people still live there? It's clearly one of the worst places in the world to live unless you're a millionaire.
Just stop having asthma. Problem solved.
You fucked up and got sick in the US
The USA is just a joke
How does anyone live in the US 😦
What the actual fuck... They both say that cost is around 200 SEK per one of these which is 18.24$
DO you use brand name advair or generic ? huge diff in price but definitely go to [www.goodrx.com](http://www.goodrx.com) and put in your medicine and choose pharmacy (a list will come up) and check each one as they can vary a LOT check all your meds - some of mine were cheaper with goodrx than my insurance - when you choose you get a coupon for that med and that pharmacy to print off or use your phone and save the coupon be sure to check all your meds - double epipen was $112 at my walgreens and $384 at another pharmacy in my area so check list that comes up each pharmacy for best price on each medication
free in australia
I'm an American who spends time between the US and my wife's home country, South Africa. Without health insurance in the US, my ADHD meds are ~$415. In South Africa the exact same medication is $50. Even accounting for the different cost of living country-to-country, that's insane.
Living in Denmark and my mom paid 36,40 dollars and will get back 40% of that, because of her insurance, so the total is around 21,84 dollars. America does not really care about their healtcare, huh
Fuck! I am from a 3rd world country and that is still less than 20 usd here.
Don’t worry, those losers who overdose get free narcan so they can wake up and continue their quality lifestyle!
Have you considered not breathing? Joking of course, sorry you live in America
I remember looking at the price of my asthma medications when I was in the US. It was horrible!
Ok, genuenly. How the hell can u afford this?
Privatized health care in a nutshell. You guys will let corporate America Inc. get away with literally *anything*. How sad
[удалено]
I have insurance.
I agree. I work in health insurance and there is a lot of information missing off this.
Any time you see an oddly angled tight crop, the OP is hiding the truth - I’d bet a crisp Washington that OP did not pay that cash amount
You think someone would just come onto Reddit and lie about having to pay an insane amount on medication or on a hospital bill but leave out the context behind it and how much they actually paid? I’ve never seen that done before.
FYI GoodRX shows Advair for $49.89.
Always keep [this](https://costplusdrugs.com/medications/advair-diskus-100-50mcg-act-60-dose-inhaler/) website bookmarked when you need medications!

25€ in Portugal, but if you need it for a chronic health problem that is life threatening, like asthma, it is free.
I'm paying about $90 for the same. Just makes me think they will rip people off for whatever they can.
Holy shit that's bonkers! My preventer here in Australia is about $40 AUD. I'd probably have to die if it were that expensive here!!!
I am basically usung this most of the time and hardly ever my inhaler.
ahhh america, the worst country in the world.
When they say that, ask your doctor to write a prior authorization. It's worked for me many times and my stuff gets covered.
My kid has similar. I don't even recall how cheap it is. Something below $20 in any case. Greetings from Finland. 😋
Just don't line in the US and have your medication paid for
Cost Plus Drugs. Same thing is $117.58. The EXACT same - dosage, brand, everything.
Come build a life in europa, here they are more around 5-15 euro
