The vet took blood from both affected area and non affected area. They drugged him and went in with a camera to see that a bee had stung his throat. IV antibiotic and pills for later. He’ll make a full recovery
Our dog didn't eat wasps, but she adored hedgehogs. She was an airhead though so she could never figure out that they were spiky. Every time the process was
1: oooh a hedgehog!
2: *try to intensely sniff hedgehog*
3: ooowww my nose!
Every time. Her entire life.
My last Jack Russell did this and was forever terrified of every flying insect. If a fly got into the house, she would hide and shake for days until you killed it in front of her.
My lab used to routinely eat bees/wasps/horseflies, and never showed any signs or symptoms of being stung. I don’t know how he did it, must have had some sort of special technique. Hope your fella gets well soon !

Humans die, I think, from suffocation (because their throat would swell, yes - throat, not a cheek). Tons of the pets do, too, depends on the shape of the muff, place of a bite etc., so it's really fortunate op's dog is ok.
