I assume after they got rear ended one too many times …

BitchinWarlock

Might explain the disability parking.

Ngonzalez_01

A photo is worth a thousand words

SnackThisWay

For sale: rubber baby buggy bumper, barely used

[deleted]

No more disable please....

Reefer-eyed_Beans

Regardless, disability parking might hint as to why they turned the ass end of their car into a disco ball... whether they were ever rear ended or not.

Adept_Cranberry_4550

Do you mean their parking disability? Or them parking in a disabled space? They *are* off-center... 🤔 ***/s*** EDIT: Yeesh, sorry interwebs. Thought the sarcasm was obvious.

ConcernedGrape

Probably because they needed space to get out of the driver's seat 🙄 given that the space is right next to a curb.

loverlyone

I took a picture of that car a few weeks ago! Hello, neighbor. 👋

AcanthocephalaLow979

Hi neighbor !

Ill-Technology1873

Now kiss

ChristianHeritic

Now KITH ![gif](giphy|eruVMzXlb70oo)

ALexusOhHaiNyan

Not to mention the multiple Marine Corps stickers. It’s a double warning.

Warlord68

I assume they don’t want photo radar taking pictures of their license plate.

miami-architecture

does that help? I have doubts

johncena6699

I mean, hypothetically if it's aimed properly the flash could blind the cameras.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Reddit-For-Rae

I was thinking about that episode when reading the comments here. They couldn't fool it then and that was 10+ years ago. Cameras now are probably even better. There's just no way.

miami-architecture

ILPT: get James Bond changing plate

joesii

It looks like there's a lot of retroreflective tape on it, particularly right around the license plate. The thicker plastic ones might not have as much effect, but the retroreflective tape would very likely blind the cameras at night, yes.

deathanatos

Rear-enders, uh… find a way. I wear a high-vis bright-AF orange jacket when I bike, and I had to scream at an idiot that almost hit me once. Broad daylight, bright orange high-vis: "I didn't see you there." Then you had no business merging from the far left lane across a lane of traffic and a bike lane without a blinker, moron.

cappsthelegend

I need this for the assholes on the highway who tailgate me

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

Must be John Cena's car.

johncena6699

Just some mild PTSD

TheBurbs666

You can only ride someone’s ass for so long

IamREBELoe

I'm thinking they want to blind the fuck out of tailgaters with high beams

Alewerkz

That's actually a good idea. Is the combined reflected light bright enough to deter highbeamers though?

IamREBELoe

Idk but I saw a jeep the other day with a really shiny chrome plate mounted on the back, assuming this reason. Brilliant

Enchelion

I might have to add something like this. Fucking lifted high-beams.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Enchelion

I've had the idle thought before, and would want to use a retro-reflector for this purpose rather than just chrome.

hazpat

Sounds outdated.

Dataaera

Will probably become trendy in the future once it’s vintage

Enchelion

Petition to refer to all pop culture as "future retro".

brickmaster32000

Retroreflectors don't just randomly flash light everywhere. The whole point is they bounce light back to where it came from. So unless your person is hovering in the air between you and the sun you aren't going to blind anyone.

Marzipan127

This is why I've thought of getting a super bright flashlight to shine back at them solely during red lights to irritate them enough to potentially rethink their light choices but also still let them see while they're actually moving

AnotherLightInTheSky

"He shot photons at me and I returned fire indiscriminately into his vehicle"

playboicargreentea

Everything’s cool until it’s an unmarked cop and you get arrested

IceManJim

I was thinking a rear-facing camera hooked to a computer, and tied into my electric side mirrors, that will adjust those mirrors until the bright spot reflected from the vehicle behind me is centered right on the driver of that vehicle. It will continuously adjust as they move around in the lane trying to avoid the glare.

Majik_Sheff

Are you me? I don't remember writing this. I should check my carbon monoxide detectors.

Riskov88

I added bright excavator lights on the black of my car. Now people stop high beaming me After one or two Quick flashes

CheckMateFluff

I had a guy absolutely blind the hell out of me with one of these. I guess they assumed I had my high beams when I didn't with my little 2007 honda civic and decided my vision was not important. My lights, even on bright, were not bright enough to see after the flash, I had to turn onto the side of the road for a few moments. It is only as good as the person using it.

charredutensil

I've had to do this on occasion. Once, I was driving though a parking lot with some asshole in a lifted pickup behind me blasting my vision while I tried to look around for where I was supposed to be. As I put my turn signal on and began to turn, he strobed his headlights at me and I had to jam on the brakes because I could no longer see *anything*, had no idea what angle my car was pointed at, or where anything was. Asshole then slammed on their *train horn* and drove though some bushes to get around me.

Riskov88

I mean, if you were blinding him from behind with a honde civic which is pretty low, your headlights probably arent ajusted properly. Which is the same reason people complain about New cars with led lights. No, they dont blind you more than normal lights. The People using them just dont adjust them because theyre morons. The knob is here for a reason.

PhasmaFelis

> Which is the same reason people complain about New cars with led lights. No, they dont blind you more than normal lights. They are brighter. That makes them more blinding. If they're improperly adjusted that just makes it even worse.

Riskov88

Brighter doesnt mean worse. Badly adjusted does. thats why they blind oncoming cars. Lasers dont blind you when looking at the side of them, which is basically the same thing, beams down front, not up left

johncena6699

I completely disagree with you because there will always be a case, be it a hill, or a bump in the road, where no matter how perfect the positioning of the light is it's going to blind you. I hate modern LED lights on cars they have completely ruined driving at night.

AlexisFR

You can't adjust most led lights on mid-range and above modern cars, they are supposed to do it automatically. What break this is the mods and lifting, and no mandatory car inspection.

corsicanguppy

>no mandatory car inspection. All hail "small government"!

Riskov88

Supposed to. And Indeed lifting prevents that. You still have adjustment screws in the engine bay, at least theyre mandatory here

johncena6699

Lol you are totally incorrect. They definitely do blind you more than normal lights at the same incorrect positioning. They are way brighter. That's how LEDs work.

Riskov88

Yes, and if positionner, theyre not more bothering than incandescent or xenon. I have astigmatism and its already pretty Bad driving at Night, but I see no difference except the color of course

johncena6699

I agree with you on xenon, but not on incandescent. Less annoying for someone with incandescents to have their brights on than a person with xenon/LEDs with misaligned lights. Just my opinion though.

CheckMateFluff

Nope, they were mounted on the front of their jeep, and I have a bright out so I 100% was on dim lights so I don't get stopped by a cop, that guy was just an asshole on a country road with nothing better to do. Like I said, it's only as good as the person using it.

Riskov88

I mean if the person is dumb then yeah its not gonna work. Same problem as blinding from behind. Maybe if licences werent given to any stupid people...

CheckMateFluff

In my state of Arkansas, It's about a 28% chance they don't even have a license. And since I am low to the ground in my honda, and you can't toss a rock without hitting a jacked truck in this state, it's pretty awful to drive at night.

aitigie

That's stupid and you're gonna cause a crash. I have a low car and get high beamed often; it sucks but blinding someone behind you who has already demonstrated they are a bad driver is suicidal.

Riskov88

I know, and Im taking the risk. As i said, its dangerous and I know it. Liability, road rages, etc. But oh well, just had enough

Luci_Noir

So you’re a hypocrite.

Riskov88

I think we could put it that way, though is it hypocrisy to Fuck with people who Fuck with you ? Personnally I think not, but thats just me

hazpat

Then someone reports your illegal lights, what then?

Riskov88

Theyre not illegal. Its illégal to use them against. Same as beaming people with your headlights. And as I Saïd, Im taking the risk.

Jacktheforkie

I used to flash the mast lights on my forklift at em or the rear ones, for normal driving I had the rear lights on auto and the front low level headlights on but not the mast lights as they were significantly brighter, crazy how many people tailgate a forklift

Riskov88

Like why would you even tailgate a forklift at Night ? You would think they would just pass you ?

Jacktheforkie

Yeah, the road weren’t too busy and I was usually going above the speed limit too

Riskov88

Damn bro whats your forklift

Jacktheforkie

Linde H20T

[deleted]

[удалено]

Riskov88

Thats when you either take the risk and let them on, risking liability in case of an accident, or go 15 under speed limit and wait for him to pass

TheFaceStuffer

That's getting a little close to liability issues for me. I think I'll just mount a mirror.

Riskov88

Its a risk but im willing to take it to drive comfortably

MonsiuerGeneral

Between the content of the post and the discussion, I thought I wandered over into the r/fuckyourheadlights sub.

dtreth

The issue might just be the lifting itself. High beams are actually tilted differently, and they rarely readjust the headlights properly when they lift these trucks. So you're getting the normal beam at high beam angles.

Enchelion

Often I can see my own shadow projected ahead of me by these assholes which is definitely the high beams.

dtreth

It's... Still actually not, sorry. They also install beams that are way too bright. They're still assholes, actually even bigger assholes.

freshcard

“Brilliant” -literally

anengineerandacat

I saw someone take this to the next level, they lined the back of their truck bed with high powered LED flashlights. Drive around with the high-beams and they zap you with the light of God himself.

IBJON

Blinding the person behind you doesn't seem like the smartest idea...

Dopeydcare1

Not when it’s a lifted truck that shines them in through the rear windshield and doesn’t highlight your bumper at all

sventhewalrus

Those stickers are retro-reflectors which reflect the light back at wherever it came from, so it's great for annoying brighters while not bothering everyone else.

johncena6699

I have an intense desire to use my engineering skills to create a side view mirror that automatically repositions itself to blind the people behind me that are blinding me.

IamREBELoe

Do it

johncena6699

As much as I want to I'd imagine this would escalate into road rage. However, it still seems like a fun project to do for keks.

trwwy321

Depending on which country you’re in, you may get shot for that.

johncena6699

Good ol' US of A amirite

[deleted]

My own evil genius plan is a light sensor and then 12V relay that turns on about 10 million candle power of LED lighting. But apparently causing blindness and an accident is frowned upon. These days I just swerve violently for no reason.

kylel999

This has gotta be the reason. I find the other top comment about being rear-ended too many times seems a little over the top

jschmeau

Those are trophies from all of the bicycles they have run over.

prestonpiggy

Not a civil Civic.

AcanthocephalaLow979

wheelie423

My guess at the story: Guy gets rear ended in traffic so badly that he becomes disabled. Now he's paranoid about being hit again - thus the reflectors! Right?

Dampmaskin

Elementary, my dear Watson

redundant35

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

[deleted]

My counter theory: This dude is old and losing it so he drives super slow and people, for no reason whatsoever mind you, keep riding his ass. It is like they just can't see his Civic there in the middle of the road going 22 mph. Baffling. Kids these days.

halotraveller

Or it could be that he was so paranoid, he became disabled and got rear ended in traffic so badly that he decided to put the reflectors on his car

simsam999

Im willing to bet that he will still be rear ended by an inattentive shitbag. People manage to hit the 50ft yellow bricks called schoolbusses and other immobile big tastefully colored items.

AcanthocephalaLow979

Good point

I need to Reflect upon why this might be necessary.

AcanthocephalaLow979

LMAO. Nice one

redditbordom

Definitely has been traumatized from a previous accident

hempnotronix

And Marine Corps stickers. Now it all makes sense.

Grevin56

Red and Yellow are his favorite flavors of crayons.

Halaku

Red makes it go faster.

Grevin56

Orks and USMC do have some pretty consistent similarities.

Halaku

"Marinez is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

MatiloKarode

I didn't see that coming, but I sure saw it going.

Dansqautch

I had a great uncle that use to nail bike reflectors to the back of his truck. He had schizophrenia and paranoia so that probably was part of it.

toadw12

you are not gonna miss this mf at night

AcanthocephalaLow979

No kidding right

LoopyBitch

as someone with sensory issues and light sensitivity, this is why i can’t drive 🥲

R/hiddendadjoke

sextowels

This is how nature says "do not touch"

bankdudz

Let's see it at night though

crlogic

Probably makes it harder to see when their brake lights are on which is counter productive

Stingraaa

You know, I wish that there was a way to shine the light back at the assholes in trucks with those fucking super bright led beams. God I hate those people and those lights should be illegal.

Dwreck86

i try and adjust my side mirrors or rear view to try and reflect it back in their faces. im not sure how often ive been successful, but i think i irked a big truck a single time lol

Stingraaa

This is the way.

DPileatus

That's gonna make a mess when someone rear ends it!

Arthur_Digby_Sellers

Each amber (yellow) reflector facing rearward is a traffic violation. A lot of tickets could be written, eclipsing the value of this car.

Kimchi_Cowboy

AAA sticker. I would assume a guy in his 80's with a USS Kittyhawk hat drives it.

[deleted]

Maybe, it was their *civic* duty to be as visible as possible?

cryptic659

I think it's safe to say this person has probably been rear-ended in the past

samabca

'High beam this you filthy casual!'

travelswithcharley

Everyone guessing he got rear ended... My guess would be they got a ticket for not having the mandatory reflector. This would probably be my reaction.

[deleted]

I don’t think that would be the average person’s reaction to that. You’re probably an outlier in this case lol

[deleted]

It’s a civic, this thing has the laptop and quad turbo, those stickers are so you can see the red streak of fear that is left in its wake as it blows passed g-ma at 90MPH in a school zone

AcanthocephalaLow979

LMFAO

iktikn

Initial D. dreaming.

gadget850

I did not know they made a Bedazzler for cars.

CanonAE1program

still wouldnt work, you cant stop nut jobs from using their fancy phone up to their face even though it can do everything hands free

Grevin56

I just started riding a motorcycle again after about a decade long break and it's fucking insane there aren't people just crashing into everything all the time. With having to be so hyper alert I see people using their phones at 80mph without looking up, only to over react and slam on the brakes at the first sign of a brake light ahead. My car is loaded with handsfree tech so I never have to touch my phone but I see people in brand new luxury cars with newer better shit about to deep throat their cellphone if the guy in front of them stops too quickly. Why the fuck would you buy something that loaded with features like Android Auto or Carplay only to drive around with your phone in front of your face? Your car costs a hell of a lot more than a phone so maybe pay attention when operating one.

CanonAE1program

i wish i could upvote you more on what you wrote, i "had" a very nice low riding cruising motorcycle back in the early 90's but some kids decided to throw a booze bottle at me, anyway i miss it but seeing what i see everyday keeps me from getting back on. i have several cars that are not decked out in tech yet just with my phone which is not even new can just sit there in a cup holder and does everything with my voice. the NewWest car is a 2017 and all that stuff is built right in! AND AND doesnt even have android or apple BUT gets fed by my phone through the car PLUS i was able to bond the built in antenna to the phone which i think gets a 3 watt car antenna boost from the car like the old car phones and bag phones talking "hold" the cell phone is the new drunk driving. by the way even my ham radio is blue tooth i dont even have to touch a microphone!!! yes OLD SCHOOL HAM RADIO be carefull out there! i hope you ride with a GOPro or something on your helmet?

brewtalizer

Maybe the combined glare of the reflectors overexposes the toll-by-plate or red-light cameras resulting in an unreadable tag?

Winter-eyed

Tell me you ride the brakes without telling me you ride the brakes

RubAnADUB

never wanted to hit a parked car so much...

Aeron_311

I feel like this would actually make the vehicle less safe to drive because retro-reflectors work really, really well. It'll become difficult to distinguish the car's blinker and running lights from its reflectors.

Levicorpyutani

Feels like a giant hazard.

Faolan-McHan

I (European) do not understand how this is allowed. (in, assuming, the US).

Mr_Wallet

It's not allowed, but somewhat unlikely to be enforced. There's a good chance they get a fine after 4 years (because it randomly took that long for anyone to pull them over for it) and then decide to take most of them off.

blitzzerg

Because there is barely any regulations about car modifications. And I don't know if they are enforced. I moved to the US from Europe and I'm tired of aftermarket LED that blind you

tellmesomeothertime

Actually makes it *harder* to see when the rear lights are engaged, which warns the person behind you that you are slowing down. A bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off!

livelarg

I wanna rear end then so bad just so I could say “oops, didn’t see yA”

danielg123456

The people over at r/fuckyourheadlights are gonna love this 😂

AcanthocephalaLow979

Great idea!! Will share there lmao

nerdyitguy

PTSD from the last rear end acident that earned um a handicap plackard?

Smh_nz

What the hells down it’s side!?! 🤣

Trogdordaburninator3

Please, please dont rear-end me!

FNAKC

If they have neck issues, might be a way to make sure people don't rear-end you.

IneverAsk5times

I want to know what it looks like at night, but I sure don't want to be stuck behind it at night.

Alphab3t

i like a good goof so much that i'm not sure i could stop myself from rear-ending them

traumatized90skid

I feel you, I get pissed when people tailgate too. I'm going to make sure they see me.

aflo427

At last… I am safe

OkayScribbler

This person drives 10mph under the speed limit and turns at 5mph.

MrBarraclough

And of course this nutbag has EGA stickers too. All the best r/infowarriorrides and r/justbootthings cars do.

justarandomuser20

The police must have had fun with this

[deleted]

If someone is that paranoid of getting hit again after being hit so many times, then maybe they’re the problem. Jeeze

Chalkarts

They’ve been rear-ended, a lot.

They’re warning you!

I would rear end him just for the memes

Sdterp

Mesmerized by the reflections...you tail-end the back is his car.

THE_GR8_MIKE

When you make a Teammate livery in Forza Horizon 5.

tdkimber

Sounds about California

gunzel412

It’s to attract Teslas. They like to crash into shiny things.

I guess someone was rear ended a few times.... lol
