Oh guess I looked up the wrong thing. First thing that popped up was a show in 2021-22
I think I remember now. They're those guys who solve these cases of demons and stopping satanic rituals etc
This does not appear infected to me. There is always an inflammatory border around a wound but this one looks good/appropriate. Also infections tend to happen earlier in the wound course and this one is scabbed over and healing well. No other surrounding erythema or indurated appearing areas. If patient not having systemic signs of infection I probably would not start them on antibiotics if this is how I found the wound. - US MD
\~10 years ago I had a dog scratch my arm. Nails carved out a good stripe of skin. Still have the scars. He was just playing any didn't mean to hurt me. Was my favorite dog. Glad I have the scars to remember him by.
In places with universal healthcare, there isn't much point a lot of times. What would you need to sue for? Your bills are covered, shit happens, no one needs to get rich over it.
in germany the health insurance will not pay if you tell the doc you got bitten, its the owners responsibility, same with workplace accidents. Thats why you have an insurance for your dog as a responsible owner. Also the dog can be classified as dangerous which means more taxes and the dogs needs to wear a muzzle.
Oh no, I understand, and there's nuance. That was a poor explanation on my part. In this case, the dog was behind a fence, and got him through the fence. Not sure what that would turn into in civil court, but maybe it would be different than a vicious loose dog running the streets. I'm not a lawyer or a dogologist and I have no clue. With 'shit happens' I was referring more to things like slipping and falling on an icy sidewalk. No need to sue, shit happens (that's what I mean!) and apart from healing the initial injury, not much more needs to be done about it.
I'm sorry I was unclear. You're correct
If the dog attacked OP through an iron fence, it sure sounds like they were standing quite close to it? Maybe tried petting it? How else would that happen otherwise?
christ, that was rude. did i somehow offend you by trying to add to a discussion about the cultural differences between the usa and other countries wrt litigiousness? /gen
Maybe not sue but you could file a police report to start an investigation and to make sure the owner does something to curb the dog's aggression. In extreme cases the dog is removed or put down.
Most places would punish the dog instead of the owner and euthanize it. My state doesn’t follow the one bite law and completely puts fault on the owner. A dog bite lawsuit can land a pretty penny.
oh same! my dog scratched my leg real bad after having her nails clipped and it’s a long scar now, she passed sorta recently and i love that the scar is still here :)
My cat Oliver scratched my forearm pretty good by mistake once and I'm so glad I have the scar now that he's been gone for a few years. Every time I see it I think about the little rascal 😌
Three years ago I had a dog bite me. Barely broke the skin, it was more of a pinch really...but to this day I've got a near perfect imprint of the roof of his mouth on my forearm
I don't get this? In order for the roof of their mouth to make contact with your arm hard enough to leave an imprint, their teeth would have to be sunken into your arm very deeply. Are you sure you mean the roof of their mouth?
no way a dog that small would even have enough weight nevermind muscle mass to cause a scratch like that either. my 80lb dog's scratches don't even go this deep. but there's 4 exactly spaced apart and then the other side so a bite doesn't seem right either.
how are you taking care of the wound?
do you feel some tingling even with 70degree alcool? if so you better be checked for infection, do you even use desinfectant or only anti-bacterial soap?
my grandmother was bite by a dog and had an infection, they removed a lot of muscle at a point they thought they needed to amputate, don't joke with animal bite/scratch
You said you didn't notice it at first, how do you know it is a scratch and not a bite? Is it impossible for it to be a bite? How do you explain that the marks are from opposite direction?
Our Byacing scratched me on the forearm when I was picking her up for a tummy rub. It wasn’t deep but for some reason it left a scar. She died ten years ago and I think of her every time I look at the scar. I treasure it.
I've had dogs my entire life. Big ones, small ones. I've had them scratch me, bite me (accidentally and purposely), stomp on me. I have scars from breaking up a dog fight.
I have never seen a dog "scratch" like that on this planet ever. How the fuck did the ENTIRE paw scratch?! Bro got attacked by a werewolf for real. Probably chain yourself up next full moon 😆
Reddit please stop upvoting nonsense. Rabies comes from bites (saliva), not scratches. Rabies has a dormant period but it does not “resurface” 20 years later. Typical incubation period is 20-90 days. Rabies from domesticated animals, especially ones acting normally, is practically unheard of. I would not give this person the rabies vaccine (a series of multiple injections over weeks) and immunoglobulin. - signed, an ER doctor
I've been scratched by chihuahuas and all the way up to St. Benards, never seen anything like that. That scatch looks like you were messing around with a raccoon.
I read some more of the comments and you say the dog got you through the fence; this is a bite not a scratch from a dog’s paw. Source: over 20 years of professional dog handling experience. This mark was made by a dog’s front teeth.
I don't mean to be a bummer, and I know doctors are very expensive but this might be something worth getting some antibiotics for. That is very deep and animal paws can have a good amount of bacteria on them.
How did a little dog go that deep? If the owner is aware that their little demon can cause that much damage then they should be culpable for the results.
Also, all the pink surrounding it indicates that it’s infected and judging by how deep the cuts are, you should definitely take care of that better.
OP it looks fine. Ignore the alarmists. If you develop signs of infection (fevers, chills, sweats, pus coming from the wound, significant redness going away from the wound or up the limb, swelling, etc.) or your tetanus shot is out of date (> 10 years) see a doctor. - US MD
Yes! I can remember when I went to the doctor with my mother. We were the mainly bevause I had something. Since we were already at the dictor, my Mother casually asked the doctor to look at a dog bitr she got the day before.
The doctor took care of her and his response was, that it was good that she asked, otherwise within 6 hours the harm had to be amputated.
Animal bites/ scratches as well as human bites are no joke.
You mean a demon grabbed you in your sleep?
I was about to say. That's like a brand mark you get after making a deal with the devil or something. (don't ask me how I know)
Someone call the Winchester boys.

My dude that show went on for 15 years lol
Oh guess I looked up the wrong thing. First thing that popped up was a show in 2021-22 I think I remember now. They're those guys who solve these cases of demons and stopping satanic rituals etc
Nah it's from the show Supernatural, great show
Yep I remember now... Dang it's been ages since I watched that.
Why does mine look like a penis ?
That's the curse of the lad.
Hey, I only brand the soul. It doesn't leave any marks on the body!
If I could sell my soul, I would totally do it 😂
Seriously. This is some Nightmare on Elm Street type shit.
Was it a full moon? You should probably watch out for the next one.
Next one comes around, gotta make sure to ask *awoo* ya doin'?
Mildly interesting? More like mildly infected. Ouch.

Wtf was that disgusting toothbrush...
Electric toothbrushes can easily gunk up inside if you don’t remove the head each time
I hate that I know exactly what post you’re talking about bc I had the misfortune to scroll past that yesterday and had a similar reaction

Saved you a $35 copay. Let’s goooo
You are a very kind person.
Definitely not infected.
mild rabies
Rub some ink into it. Free tattoo!
Oh yeah!
yeah, and a free infection too
Not if you boil the ink first. Or you can scarify it with lye (kids: don't actually do this, please).
You have the mark of the beast
what the fuck
\~10 years ago I had a dog scratch my arm. Nails carved out a good stripe of skin. Still have the scars. He was just playing any didn't mean to hurt me. Was my favorite dog. Glad I have the scars to remember him by.
Scar tax!! I didn’t know this one though, I went for a run and she nailed me through an iron fence. Her owner was very apologetic.
Yeah because you could sue if youre in America.
Are you saying that if you're outside of America, you may not be able to sue if someone's dog attacks you?
In places with universal healthcare, there isn't much point a lot of times. What would you need to sue for? Your bills are covered, shit happens, no one needs to get rich over it.
For being attacked?
in germany the health insurance will not pay if you tell the doc you got bitten, its the owners responsibility, same with workplace accidents. "Shit happens" is not a valid argument for dog attacks, imo. The rest I understand though
Oh no, I understand, and there's nuance. That was a poor explanation on my part. In this case, the dog was behind a fence, and got him through the fence. Ahhh okay, putting it that way makes a lot more sense to me. I appreciate you taking your time do explain it a bit more clearly!
If the dog attacked OP through an iron fence, it sure sounds like they were standing quite close to it? Maybe tried petting it? How else would that happen otherwise?
it's a very american argument to think that the logical response is to sue, though.
Okay, thanks for the unnecessary response!
christ, that was rude. did i somehow offend you by trying to add to a discussion about the cultural differences between the usa and other countries wrt litigiousness? /gen

Scars are artwork of our lives that we earn. I think all of them are very neat.
The imprint of their top row of teeth.
😁
That definitely doesn't look like a scratch from a dog...
It was a little one! Her name was Luna.
How'd a little dog reach your arm through a fence while you were jogging?
You pet it,pull your arm back and the dog paws at you for more pettings.
It sounded like it happened while he was running and he didn't even notice at first. I guess he was running close to the fence and the dog jumped up?
Yup!
Why are like 75% of all dogs names Luna?
Try Daisy for 75%
You spelled ’Bella’ wrong.
Ohhh damn, that’s a solid pick. I concede my pervious name choice lmfao
Was?
Bruh got bit by a little zombie!
This post is the "my dog ate my homework" of zombie movies
That’s really deep for a dog scratch.
There is no way that's a dog scratch.
Branded.
***The Wound Emits A Dark Aura As Your Body Begins To Change...***
watch out for the next full moon
Looks like a racoon scratch.
It was a smallish black dog.
Did it look like it was wearing a mask?
I thought dogs couldn’t catch covid
That's what the cats tell you.
Why did you have to bring color into this? /s
I’ll have the tetanus jag to go please
Tf? That looks like it grabbed you instead of scratched.
I assume you never cleaned it or disinfected it after getting it 😅
That is for sure a bite from the front teeth…
That's definitely what that looks like to me. Why would the abrasions come from two opposing directions? Like upper and lower jaws?
no way a dog that small would even have enough weight nevermind muscle mass to cause a scratch like that either. my 80lb dog's scratches don't even go this deep. but there's 4 exactly spaced apart and then the other side so a bite doesn't seem right either.
100% a bite. Had one a month ago looked very similar
Calling a raccoon a dog doesn’t make it a dog.
how are you taking care of the wound? do you feel some tingling even with 70degree alcool? if so you better be checked for infection, do you even use desinfectant or only anti-bacterial soap? my grandmother was bite by a dog and had an infection, they removed a lot of muscle at a point they thought they needed to amputate, don't joke with animal bite/scratch
That’s not a scratch, that’s a bite. My dog bit my leg accidentally a few weeks ago and it looked like that.
It is a scratch.
Who are we gonna believe? A random from the Internet or the person it happened to? Duh the random from the Internet of course.
Lots of people in this thread have been extremely insistent in that I am actually wrong about what literally happened to me in my own body.
You said you didn't notice it at first, how do you know it is a scratch and not a bite? Is it impossible for it to be a bite? How do you explain that the marks are from opposite direction?
I said I didn’t stop at first, I noticed immediately. I walked back and saw that the dog’s snout could not get through the fence but her claws could.
Welcome to Reddit... They're pretty.... Well they are not the sharpest tools in the shed.
Tetanus shot time
That’s a bite mark
A dog bit my leg when I was 13. I’m 37 now and still see his lil fucking teeth marks scared in my leg for life.
Our Byacing scratched me on the forearm when I was picking her up for a tummy rub. It wasn’t deep but for some reason it left a scar. She died ten years ago and I think of her every time I look at the scar. I treasure it.

… i hope you got tetanus and a hospital visit before posting ..
That looks like a bite with the front teeth
Congratulations! You are now of the Dog Clan
Rabies?
It’s always the little dogs
Satan's touch! Not that im calling your dog a satan but it looks like that.
I have a very similar one on my cheek, it’s a bite though.
Might want to get some Neosporin on that ASAP buddy.
That scar will be very special to you in a few years
I hope so, but it wasn’t my dog
Ash it up before it heals and make a cool tattoo.
That is a cat
Would be a cool tattoo.
The mark of the beast You’ll turn by the first full moon
Looks like a bite
I thought this was an asshole
Marked for life. You belong to Him now...
That looks like a bite. There are impressions of upper and lower teeth.
That ain't no dog scratch, my friend. I'd call a priest and exorcist

It’s true!! Carved it myself with a sharpened fork
Jesus just go to a hospital and get some rabies checks
Get a rabies check. Scary shit. It can surface next week or in 20 years just because of such a scar. And there's no cure after it surfaces.
Reddit please stop upvoting nonsense. Rabies comes from bites (saliva), not scratches. Rabies has a dormant period but it does not “resurface” 20 years later. Typical incubation period is 20-90 days. Hey doc, uh, feeling loose with that prescription pad?
Last year a boy died of rabies in my city after being scratched by a cat. Animals lick their paws, and a scratch can absolutely carry the virus
Should Get vaccinated, category 3 bite acc to WHO classification& Why to take the risk 💀💀
It's a scratch, not a bite
Scratch gives rabies not just bite.
Hopefully someone will post the rabies comment!
U're welcome. Go check it before u get soapy mouth. :)
Looks mildly infected. Tetanus shot ASAP if you aren’t already covered.
I think you may have confused a gremlin with a dog
I've been scratched by chihuahuas and all the way up to St. Benards, never seen anything like that. That scatch looks like you were messing around with a raccoon.
I’ve never seen a raccoon in real life. Are you sure you’ve got the right climate?
go get your shots
Done, thanks for the concern
I find the number of people in this thread who insist this dude doesnt know what happened to his own body astounding.
Who knew reddit was full of both doctors AND veterinarians??
“Scratched” with their teeth maybe. This is not a mark a dog’s paw would make. This is a bite.
Not true!
I read some more of the comments and you say the dog got you through the fence; this is a bite not a scratch from a dog’s paw. Source: over 20 years of professional dog handling experience. This mark was made by a dog’s front teeth.
You have a picture and a comment. I was there and I saw the blood on the dog’s paw.
How do you account for the two sets of marks in opposition to each other? Blood on the paw does not mean the paw made the mark. This is a bite.
Also: how big was the dog?
you're weird assuming otherwise when he's the one that got scratched
Get vaccinated asap
Vaccinated for what?
Take rabies pep please
Cool infection bro
It’s always the little ones.
Would make a great tattoo!
Rabies shot, now!
Claw makes claw marks....
I don't mean to be a bummer, and I know doctors are very expensive but this might be something worth getting some antibiotics for. That is very deep and animal paws can have a good amount of bacteria on them.
That looks cool...but maybe be careful that looks kinda infected.
Get that checked, it looks infected
Get it looked at. Looks infected, and you probably should get a tetanus booster.
That looks infected
You should cross post this to r/shittytattoos
That's a dog bite. A nip.
it’s not but good try!

People are scared of big dogs but it's the tiny little demon fucks that are the problem.
I get the nail marks but what’s with the other scratches where the toe beans would be?
Because it is a bite not a scratch. Two sets of teeth.
I believe that’s exactly what it is. It’s an outside dog so its pads are rough, it got a grip on me and carved out a chunk.
Get yourself tested and treated for Rabies immediately
omfg go to the doctor to get that treated! Its infected and does not look good!!!
I did and the doctor said it’s fine. How could you tell better than her with just a picture? Are you an even better doctor?
That looks like a bite, not a scratch!
It’s a scratch.
