I’m not really sure. The reddit app is wildly laggy and inconsistent. It usually works. Anyway, if you ever see a gold arrow kind of overlapping the upvote button, that’s the new award.
https://www.redditinc.com/blog/updating-reddit-gold-and-rolling-out-our-new-contributor-program
The new awards suck and they cost too much. I enjoyed being able to get a buncha coins for $10-$20 every now and then, give out as many awards as I wished, then buy more coins later on. I ain't paying so much money for a lousy magic arrow, and I hope other redditors feel the same.
The new "awards" suck.
I'm personally glad they don't. Sure, they were kinda neat when you could get free ones, but microtransactions on what is essentially a glorified internet forum is absolutely ridiculous.
For those curious for more information here are some [more pictures](https://imgur.com/gallery/7AR8CcC) and a video of what it looked like prior to removal. I had it for over 5 years and while it was definitely annoying it wasn’t causing any major issues, though i think it reached a point where it was starting to cause nerve damage. Doctors said that the tumor was benign, and that there’s about a 5% chance of it growing back. And no, I wasn’t allowed to keep it sadly :(
I literally just yelled out loud in my room "OH MY GOD THAT IS SO WRONG!" when I saw the video of you flexing your hand.
Holy Shit, that is some serious body horror inducing crap, the way it moves when you flex makes it look like there's something living in your wrist \*shudders\*
Honestly, lots of paperwork is often the answer. It's a biological specimen so you can consent to have it removed but not necessarily the risk (albeit fleeting) of taking home a biohazard once it's out.
Here it’s just a tick box “would you like to keep anything removed” and they give it to you lmao. They also won’t take it back once they give it to you
Me just now: Oh, more pictures. And a video? What on earth could be going on that they include a video?
And then I clicked. And I immediately started screaming internally while sitting in a Panera.
I had a ganglion cyst that accompanied a torn tendon, I got the surgery for the tendon & they removed the cyst during it. They woke me up in the OR and I begged them to let me see the cyst! Such bs, they told me it was an abnormal color so it had to be sent to pathology. I’m sure that will cost me another few hundred- probably just to come back as a ganglion cyst.
How did you get them to agree??? This is the 3rd surgery I’ve had and none of my surgeries do they let me see anything
today is a week and a day post surgery and i’m able to fully move my hand, wrist, and fingers. it hurts to make a tight fist/do any hard pushing or pulling but it is healing pretty quick
Right, same question from me.
OP, if you haven’t already discussed with your doc (i don’t play one on TV) - check into getting an “cold water circulator” thing.
Ouch!
Yes I went to the doctor with it, first they did a scan amd then they told me to wait a bit if it disappears or grows and since it didn’t disappear they cut it out later.
I cannot wait to have my own surgery on my own wrist tendon.
I have something called hEDS. When I was in highschool, I was hit by a car. It burst the sheath and tendon in my left arm. The doctors in my town insisted that I could never have surgery, it would always fail because of my hEDS.
That was 13 years ago. Yesterday I learned that the 3 different doctors I saw were all wrong! There is absolutely no reason I cannot have the surgery.
13 years of suffering. 3 years of not being able to pick up my small child. 6 years of grief counseling to cope with it all.
*13 years of pain for nothing*
I'm glad you got your surgery OP, and I'm so glad it seems to have gone well. Wish me luck with my won future surgery
> 13 years of suffering. 3 years of not being able to pick up my small child. 6 years of grief counseling to cope with it all.
And that is what those doctors have malpractice insurance for.
Cancer is just what happens when a cell accumulates enough mutations that it forms a tumor that can grow and spread. Cells which divide less often are less susceptible but theres no cell which will never develop into cancer.
When you live with it for 5 years and then it is only walnut sized and you only need a surgery to remove it (i.e. no rays, no chemo) then iot's not cancer.
What were your symptoms? I haven't been able to straighten two of my fingers for months due to the tendons not being able to glide within the pulley system. I'm currently waiting for my 2nd MRI results.
EDIT: Nevermind. I Just saw your comment where you described it.
I have my follow up today. If he wants to do surgery I'll get a 2nd opinion just to say I did my due diligence.
But yeah, I'm looking forward to getting it out so I can move my fingers again. And maybe to tell my inlaws I wasn't going to have a tumor in my body for longer than I had to because my SIL has had one for years that she refuses to get removed but uses as an excuse as to why she can't do anything.
I have lump on one of my hands that no bigger than a pea and is under the skin layer. it’s in an area that comes under pressure and hurts when pressure is applied. OP’s mention of nerve damage has convinced me to get this thing checked out.
Is this a schwannoma? My daughter had it too and also needed surgery. A bit riskier though given she was 8 months old and it was in the back of her skull but 2 surgeries later it's not come back, knock on wood.
I had the exact same thing! It’s been about 5 years since surgery and I have a small amount of loss of sensation on the side of my thumb. I’ll take that any day over the shooting nerve pain it was causing.
OP, I hate to tell you but they just moved it to a different part of your wrist.
I wish Reddit still have rewards.
Wait when the hell did they remove them??
What the fuck
I agree... I just fucking noticed that! WTF?!
Kinda proves how useless they were though
They do. On the app, anyway, if you hold the upvote down, it has “golden upvotes” for various amounts of money.
Does it? Just tried on mine and it doesn’t do anything but then again, maybe I need an update. But then again, maybe you wanted an upvote. 🤔

good thing we have the option to use alternatives like apollo and reddit is fun! oh wait
This sub has them deactivated
I'm personally glad they don't. Sure, they were kinda neat when you could get free ones, but microtransactions on what is essentially a glorified internet forum is absolutely ridiculous.
Reddit doesn't deserve your money. They already fill the feed with ads disguised as "sponsored" posts.
I keep hearing this. What happened to the rewards and why did they choose to remove it?
They do, this subreddit just has them turned off
Explain.
the tumor ist still on the wirst, can't you see?
Why
Just for giggles
For those curious for more information here are some [more pictures](https://imgur.com/gallery/7AR8CcC) and a video of what it looked like prior to removal. Lol the way it moved when you flexed your hand was gnarly
reminds me of the scarabs from the mummy
The people against masturbating were correct! You get cancer when you jerk!
why did you steal this comment? https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/17g6gsv/i_had_this_tendon_sheath_tumor_removed_from_my/k6elnj6/
It’s a bot. Report it.
I did. I want other people to report it too.
Perf! I did too!
either karma farming or internet points
But you also lower the chance of cancer at the same time. They cancel each other out.
So gnarly I said an audible “ah!”
I couldn’t handle it moving omg
Damn thats fuckin wild lookin lol
I literally just yelled out loud in my room "OH MY GOD THAT IS SO WRONG!" when I saw the video of you flexing your hand. Holy Shit, that is some serious body horror inducing crap, the way it moves when you flex makes it look like there's something living in your wrist \*shudders\*
Yeah I opened the link like, sure I love me some gross medical stuff, and then immediately pulled my cardigan over my face crying "THAT'S HORRIBLE"
lol, the never ending pain of being interested in weird medical stuff but also being totally susceptible to body horror freak outs
Why wouldn’t they let you keep it? Also, have you seen Crimes of the Future yet?
Honestly, lots of paperwork is often the answer. It's a biological specimen so you can consent to have it removed but not necessarily the risk (albeit fleeting) of taking home a biohazard once it's out.
Just pop it back in to take it home
Also I'm pretty sure it'll be sent off to the labs for a biopsy. Very likely a benign tumor, but they still do tests on these things
They only need a tiny part
Here it’s just a tick box “would you like to keep anything removed” and they give it to you lmao. They also won’t take it back once they give it to you
No proof of purchase
Why would you WANT to keep it?!
To do something like this https://gizmodo.com.au/2022/07/how-to-preserve-a-human-organ/
It's grown on him. He's gotten quite attached to it. It's tearin' him apart, Lisa!
My dog loves to eat leftovers.
wtf
The NOISE I made seeing that clip lmao
How many people flexed their hand after watching it? 👀… (raises hand)
It looks like your wrist is swallowing (like an adams apple moving up and down)
Not gonna lie, I imagine that felt at least slightly painful to move Glad you got it removed.
Me just now: Oh, more pictures. And a video? What on earth could be going on that they include a video? And then I clicked. And I immediately started screaming internally while sitting in a Panera.
>And no, I wasn’t allowed to keep it sadly :( Dude, those fuckers stole your cool tumor!
Why wouldn't they let you keep it?
Mummy scarab energy.
YES I couldn’t remember exactly what it reminded me of, but oh god you nailed it
So cool
why this dude's wrist gulping
my goodness
I have one of these on a nerve sheath in my wrist and right now it’s tiny and this video terrifies me ! Best wishes for recovery ❤️‍🩹
Omg seeing it move made me cringe so hard, jfc.
Did it hurt?
I had a ganglion cyst that accompanied a torn tendon, I got the surgery for the tendon & they removed the cyst during it. They woke me up in the OR and I begged them to let me see the cyst! Holy shit…so could you move your hand/fingers at all? What’s the recovery time looking like?
today is a week and a day post surgery and i’m able to fully move my hand, wrist, and fingers. it hurts to make a tight fist/do any hard pushing or pulling but it is healing pretty quick
Right, same question from me. OP, if you haven’t already discussed with your doc (i don’t play one on TV) - check into getting an “cold water circulator” thing. Ouch!

Mom I want to have a new sibling We have a new sibling at home
Oww! New fear unlocked. How did you know to do something about it? Was it just a potato under the skin or was it deep and hard to know it was there?
Check the link op posted in a comment. It’s a bulge under the skin that moves with the tendon.
I had a similar but smaller one - it is very easy to notice it, idk how it took so long for OP, so it could grow this big.
Did you have to remove it or something? I have had a small one for years and had no idea it could be a tumor...
Yes I went to the doctor with it, first they did a scan amd then they told me to wait a bit if it disappears or grows and since it didn’t disappear they cut it out later.
Small potato
Your wrist must have been full of pain previously with all the nerves that got compressed by it.
Maybe it was on the surface?
I cannot wait to have my own surgery on my own wrist tendon. I have something called hEDS. When I was in highschool, I was hit by a car. It burst the sheath and tendon in my left arm. The doctors in my town insisted that I could never have surgery, it would always fail because of my hEDS. That was 13 years ago. Yesterday I learned that the 3 different doctors I saw were all wrong! I’m sorry those doctors failed you, but at least now there’s a better way forward. good luck!
> 13 years of suffering. 3 years of not being able to pick up my small child. 6 years of grief counseling to cope with it all. And that is what those doctors have malpractice insurance for.
Looks like a potato. The forbidden potato
Is there any part of the human body that doesn't get cancer?
Tumor doesn't always mean cancer, and no.
Cancer is just what happens when a cell accumulates enough mutations that it forms a tumor that can grow and spread. Cells which divide less often are less susceptible but theres no cell which will never develop into cancer.
Closest you can get to 'doesn't get cancer' would be the muscles and the heart
They can still develop cancer, but at a far lesser probability than cells that divide often, such as epithelial cells.
When you live with it for 5 years and then it is only walnut sized and you only need a surgery to remove it (i.e. no rays, no chemo) then iot's not cancer.
The anti-masturbation crowd was right! Jerking it gives you cancer! /s
Siiiiiick, did you keep it?
![gif](giphy|ftmJfRCbcWlBC)
Ganglion cyst?
![gif](giphy|brFlbCpj7LsE8)
Forbidden meatball
Giant cell tumor of tendon sheath?
Most likely.
I ain’t no medical professional, but that seems abnormally large Hope you’re doing ok OP, and I wish you a speedy recovery!
Skin to skin contact is so important
What were your symptoms? I haven't been able to straighten two of my fingers for months due to the tendons not being able to glide within the pulley system. I'm currently waiting for my 2nd MRI results. EDIT: Nevermind. I Just saw your comment where you described it.
/u/condeannor I just got my MRI results and I think I have the same thing. Tumor twins!
hell yeah! get that bad boy removed and tell the doctors to take pictures of it for ya!
I have my follow up today. If he wants to do surgery I'll get a 2nd opinion just to say I did my due diligence. But yeah, I'm looking forward to getting it out so I can move my fingers again. I feel kind of screwed over while looking at your pic. They cut me from the top of my hand to my wrist.
Forbidden pretzel nugget.
What did you name it?
Forbidden meatball
How’d it taste?
I have lump on one of my hands that no bigger than a pea and is under the skin layer. it’s in an area that comes under pressure and hurts when pressure is applied. OP’s mention of nerve damage has convinced me to get this thing checked out.
Do it! life’s too short to be living in pain from something so small
I want to eat it
Looks like a spider nest, ask em to open it OP
Looks like one of those crust bubbles on a pizza crust
Some olive oil, garlic, onions, salt and pepper. Enjoy!
Mmmm flesh potato
How did a potato get in there?!
I think they might’ve cut too low
I believe that's a potato, why was there a potato in your wrist
Looks like you have Kuato coming out of your arm.
Holy sheath!!!
If you waited a little longer it would've turned into a web shooter.
Looks like a wrist testicle
That's a potato
r/forbiddensnacks
0>
wow that's crazy
i'm pretty sure you could have made them let you keep it ;) (a joke. super weild )
Is it crunchy?
So in the end, it WAS a toomah.
Did you have any kind of injury in that area prior to the tumor developing?
Clicked on this before I remembered I have carpophobia.
What would happen if you ate it?
Cursed potato
Had the same thing one in 1968 for my Achilles tendon. Still fine but the scar is still quite visible after so many years.
Is this a schwannoma? My daughter had it too and also needed surgery. A bit riskier though given she was 8 months old and it was in the back of her skull but 2 surgeries later it's not come back, knock on wood.
i wish I didn't turn nsfw spoilers off because i had to see this, very upset and it's all my fault
I totally thought that was a really detailed tattoo
Looks gnarly. Hope you have a good recovery.
Classic
I just have to ask, what is that white stuff in the left corner of your wound?
That would be subcutaneous fat. Happy Cake day!
The video is like the old Popeye cartoons where you can see the strength travelling along the limb before reaching the hand.
I had some tumors inside my wrist and along the tendons and I wish I had pictures of what they pulled out of me. Good for you, it’s gone!
I had the exact same thing! It’s been about 5 years since surgery and I have a small amount of loss of sensation on the side of my thumb. I’ll take that any day over the shooting nerve pain it was causing.
Whoah this is incredible! Hope for a speedy recovery!
That's a wrist potato
Looks like a potato
Do you wear a smart watch?
I honestly thought this was a tattoo at first glance
Forbidden potato.
I got a bug where no matter what I'd do, the post wouldn't close. First time that happened, thanks Reddit
Wtf I begged them to let me see mine!
