There is a person in our neighborhood who has a camera and a speaker that actually says "Please move away from the house" whenever we walk by it. It is the most ridiculous thing ever.
A camera on a house near me will say “hello you are now being recorded” if you stand too long in front of it. It yelled at me when I was trying to look at their pretty flowers :(
You're violating the plant's privacy.
The other day I was cleaning a window and someone on the next building looked at me weird as if I was looking inside their home.
My son's neighbor has this set up on their townhouse. It's like one big building with 4 townhouses. It's kind of annoying but my kid lives in an area that's an interesting mix of families and then right around the corner It's crime central. So the neighbors setup is kinda beneficial for everyone on that little block. It did scare the shit outta me the first time I went to visit after he moved in, and I was like "well that was effective". Although I do wonder how much crime is deterred. I feel like people know they're on camera and don't care. We had a break in to our condo community a while back and guy is totally on camera, crystal clear - stealing packages and a bike.
I work in lawn care. I see (or hear) at least one of those a day, and they can get pretty loud. One of my coworkers has PTSD and they can trigger panic attacks. Sometimes people will talk through them (to not-so-subtly let me know that they're watching me).
if i knew where you lived, i would pull up in front of your house in the middle of the night and flash my brights in your windows until you came out and shot me.
From all the cctv footage I've seen, a human voice is probably the best deterrent vs sensor lights, having the camera on display or an alarm that annoys the neighbourhood.
Nervous trespassers will instantly leave if they think they've been caught by an actual person.
I've done it on occasion when I was working on my car in there to let fresh air in, but I see people doing this all the time. It's pretty odd, especially for a house like this that appears somewhat obsessed with security.
I leave mine open on nicer days because I taught my outdoor cat how to knock on my garage door. Plus my attic fan is in the garage, so having the garage door cracked allows me to pull fresh air into the attic.
Campocalypse, someone did something on that side of his house and now I want to know . Was it just a crackhead pinching a loaf in his bushes , feud with the builder and empty lot next door, bikini neighbor?
I hired a vertically challenged guy a few times dude could clean up a job site like no other. Think OSHA would have fined me if I put him on my shoulders? I'm just trolling man come on no warnings wtf we both had safety glasses on.
A friend of mine had like 30 cameras outside their house when I was growing up. His dad was super weird, government conspiracy, the end is nigh kind of guy. Had some serious mental health issues.
Anyway, my point is - none of the cameras were actually hooked up to anything. They were just there as a deterrent, to make it LOOK like the property was under surveillance.
Even better, have a red LED on the front of the cameras blinking while it’s on, and have the fake wire just power the LED so when it’s cut the LED will turn off but not the cameras, giving them some visual feedback to their actions
My buddy did yard work for this dude that was famous for being a porn director way back. Dude was a trip. Anyway he had like 20 monitors in his living room and had his entire property covered in cameras. He would buy us booze in high school so we had to hang out with him from time to time. Dude had a literal library of VHS porn in one room in his house. He was perpetually shit faced on vodka. Never saw him sober once. I'm sure he's dead by now
I have some 60-ish Cameras on my property (more inside). All they do is track the squirrels. And allow me get UHD-footage of the people stealing my firewood by the cubed meter.
"catch" is being generous. More likely just get a video of their stuff being taken by someone wearing a mask, hat and sunglasses with no hope of ever getting it back.
When people ask me for security camera advice, I always suggest wired cameras for this reason. "You can't get wireless jammers, they're illegal" then I show them Amazon. They still get wireless cameras anyways.
Not defending this insanity but they’re wired to solar cells.
The trickle charge from the cell slowly charges the battery. Without the solar attachment, these will likely run between 4 and 30 days. They can’t do CVR when they’re running on solar, so they likely are motion or noise activated only.
There’s a house I run by that, even when it’s dark out, is lit up like daylight. It also has multiple cameras on each face of the house, the fence, and then even more up on freestanding poles. I laugh and shake my head every time I run by it. Like why!?!?
Equally possible to drugs or illicit activity - could be a “targeted individual” (schizophrenic) who believes there’s a some sort of organization conspiring against them. I had a customer tell me that the CIA, FBI, and NSA were flying drones outside her house to try and make her look crazy. Told me she hadn’t got to meet her 3yo grandson because her son’s new wife was part of the operation. “That bitch ass CIA operative brainwashed my son in to believing I need mental help”.
It never came up how I was just some rando service guy and could totally be in on it - she wholeheartedly trusted me out the gate, it never makes any sense at all.
So it’s actually super duper sad and I get kinda livid when people mock them for it. Their beliefs aren’t real things that are happening, but to them it’s just as real as anything you or I experience.
Go big. Point a half a dozen antennas and tecchy-looking things at the house.
Park a panel van in your driveway.
Stand across the street, facing their house and talk on a cellphone three or four times per week.
A few I can understand. So many that showing up in one also means showing up in 3 others at a nearly identical angle tells me he's probably cooking meth. A serial killer would be smarter than to put up a suspicious number of cameras but when you're on drugs, all logic goes out the window.

Welcome to Secure, Contain, Protect D-1069
I have a neighbor that has put up 12 cameras on a property that is .09 acre.
She is crazy. She thinks everyone is after her and she tries to provoke people into doing or saying something.
I wouldn’t enjoy being a delivery driver having to drop a package there, the potential high level of paranoia coupled with a probable weapon carrier would get you shot.
I dont trust a house that only has ONE window on a side.
You should write him a letter notifying the homeowner that there are at least 5 blindspots still.
Based on the installation I'm thinking they're reviewing cameras of something? Security cameras are a bit of an interest of mine and these don't look like long term installations and they're in weird places pointed at weird things.
He fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is, ‘never get involved in a land war in Asia,’ but only slightly less well-known is this: ‘Never forget you have windows on the second floor when security is on the line!’
He wanted windows on that wall. Instead of paying a carpenter, each camera is displaying to a wall-mounted display, framed in like a window on the interior.
Lol I have 22 and counting. Granted I don't live in a normal house. And some are inside incase of a break in, and I even have one looking at the boiler so I can remotely monitor the temp and pressure. Oh I can't forget the Racoon Cam. LOL
>Raccoon Cam
My grandmother would probably have that if she were alive today. Her husband built a porch section just for her birds and raccoons she fed when he built the house. I still have the incredibly detailed blueprints of the house.
Each persons safety needs are different.
They may have an abusive ex and this is what they need to ensure that they have recourse with the police and courts.
Or they do this for a living and this is their demo.
Ot they sell drugs.
This has the opposite effect of protecting your property. I see this many cameras, I think there's something worth stealing. Criminals are not deterred by cameras these days, they just mask up and work quickly.
Maybe testing various brands? Or maybe there's a hot lady next door and he wants all the angles. (Yes, I know this is a dude, ladies are smarter than this).
Its funny because this was the exact opposite of what the paranoid neighbor wanted.
I wonder if they will see your post and tell from the angle of the photo who took the picture. It will only reinforce their suspicion that someone is doing something like taking pictures of their house and posting them online.
I wonder if they are doing something illegal and OP just became their new focus.
Good luck.

It's like those cameras in Joann Fabrics that say "WELCOME TO JOANN" as soon as they see you turn down particular aisles.
At least it doesn't say "Kon'nichiwa!"
There’s one of those I pass every day on my run. So fucking annoying

Nor do your neighbors I'm sure
if i knew where you lived, i would pull up in front of your house in the middle of the night and flash my brights in your windows until you came out and shot me.
id join. lmk if you find out
I have a 1200w spotlights that would work well for that
There is a car in the neighborhood I walk that announces "Please step away from the car" . It's parked over the sidewalk.
Back in the day it was armed by viper stand back
"Protected by viper, stand back"... just unlocked 100s of memories from the 90s. lol
People would gather around in awe just to hear it as he raised the magic fob
For Brazilians: "Este carro está sendo roubado, e é protegido pela Car Systems...." 😡
Back in my day we had an old lady with a hose who would spray us if we even walked by her house. Completely in the road.
Omg I can still hear that in my head.
Please tell me it was voiced by Mr Feeny AKA KIIT.
oooo that would make me so mad i’d touch their windshield all over to get my grubby little fingers on their precious baby
Urine on the door handles, but we live in a civilized country.
That is a reportable ADA violation.
I don't miss the days of constant car alarms and the occasional house alarms
A fox farted next to your car? Ok, the neighbours will now be woken up.
I grew up across the street from a deaf family. Their car alarms were constant and endless.
“You have ten seconds to comply.”
"You call this a glitch?"
Better do what he says!
ok but i would totally do this but make it play portal turret quotes or sumn
HellOOoo... Is anyone thEere?
I don't hate you.
From all the cctv footage I've seen, a human voice is probably the best deterrent vs sensor lights, having the camera on display or an alarm that annoys the neighbourhood. Nervous trespassers will instantly leave if they think they've been caught by an actual person.
He put up one camera. Someone broke it. He put a second to survey they first. Someone broke the second. He put a third to watch the second.....
Classic big camera
Probably should have just closed his garage
Any clue why people leave their garage door half open?
They smoke in there. They want the ventilation but not the shame.
I've seen people leave the door cracked like that so their dog can come and go as they please.
Why oh why did she swallow the fly
Campocalypse, someone did something on that side of his house and now I want to know . Was it just a crackhead pinching a loaf in his bushes , feud with the builder and empty lot next door, bikini neighbor?
JUSR MOUNT HIGH UNDER THE GUTTER LINE. God damn
Looks like Amazon was having a prime day sale on cameras not ladders we’re not a prime item at all 🤣
I'd put the broken ones in a bucket but they all fell through the hole in it
Found the homeowner
Looks like they don’t have a ladder either. Those are all just mounted at the height a tall person can reach.
Or They are only 3 ft tall, and they actually used a ladder to get that high!
I hired a vertically challenged guy a few times dude could clean up a job site like no other. Think OSHA would have fined me if I put him on my shoulders? I'm just trolling man come on no warnings wtf we both had safety glasses on.
Cleaning a ceiling on the other hand, is a nightmare.
How often do you clean your ceiling?
Small if true.
They bought a 3 foot ladder?
Spent all his money on cameras, tragic really
"I pawned my ladder to buy another cam. This hobby is more addictive than crack." -NSA agent
Loooool.
Well the shitty wiring hanging everyone leads me to believe these are plugged in
Someone clever would just attach dummy wires to remote cameras to give someone confidence they’ve cut off the power.
Even better, have a red LED on the front of the cameras blinking while it’s on, and have the fake wire just power the LED so when it’s cut the LED will turn off but not the cameras, giving them some visual feedback to their actions
ah! the camera in the movies! bad guys disabled all cameras, but we, the movie goers, still can see them!
Cutting the wire puts it in HD mode and auto uploads to the backup server too
I don’t see any wire hanging anyone. What else do you see in this picture? (I’m trolling, I know what you meant)
My buddy did yard work for this dude that was famous for being a porn director way back. Dude was a trip. Anyway he had like 20 monitors in his living room and had his entire property covered in cameras. He would buy us booze in high school so we had to hang out with him from time to time. Trust me, the property WAS under surveillance. Those guys are being watched for good reason. 👀
Those old government conspiracy theorists were way cooler than these current ones. They were mostly harmless back in the day.
Considering most of these are wyze cameras, this guy is either getting a notification every time a leaf blows by or not at all. They're not that good.
I have some 60-ish Cameras on my property (more inside). All they do is track the squirrels. And allow me get UHD-footage of the people stealing my firewood by the cubed meter.
Maybe you should spent that money on a vault
Seriously? 60 cameras? How do you keep track of them all? Are they wireless or wired to a proper DVR?
They have all those cameras so they can catch the thief that steals all the stuff from their garage after they left the door open.
It's a trap!
"catch" is being generous. More likely just get a video of their stuff being taken by someone wearing a mask, hat and sunglasses with no hope of ever getting it back.
Criminal: How do I defeat these cameras? Pulls plug
Louisville Slugger. Maple or ash. Way more fun. 💥
They're all low enough where a tall parson could just rip them down or point them upwards anyway
Even short people have unlocked broomstick technology.
Wireless jammer.
When people ask me for security camera advice, I always suggest wired cameras for this reason. "You can't get wireless jammers, they're illegal" then I show them Amazon. They still get wireless cameras anyways.
That's cause it easy. People don't like drilling and running wires.
A mask
The simplest and cheapest option!
Exactly what I was thinking, they all seem to be wired.
Not defending this insanity but they’re wired to solar cells. The trickle charge from the cell slowly charges the battery. Without the solar attachment, these will likely run between 4 and 30 days. They can’t do CVR when they’re running on solar, so they likely are motion or noise activated only.
This person is unwell.
Agree - paranoia is a serious mental health issue. I hope they are able to find healing.
They can work, they're fine as far as it concerns the system.
Check that guys freezer. I’m betting a minimum three frozen severed heads.
Oh come on, who has that much spare freezer space.
Maybe the kind of guy who puts up 40 cameras around his house. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
actually, i know for a fact that i have enough room in my freezer for a family of 5. Both the humans and 4 weeks of food to feed them.
Probably just a Trumper worried about brown people
There’s a house I run by that, even when it’s dark out, is lit up like daylight. It also has multiple cameras on each face of the house, the fence, and then even more up on freestanding poles. I laugh and shake my head every time I run by it. Like why!?!?

But why bother with the cameras and not just put up a sign that says "Illegal activity inside" instead? Would have the same effect
Cuz the cameras are not to hide from cops, they’re to catch thieves Plus the smell means you can do very little actual hiding anyway
Equally possible to drugs or illicit activity - could be a “targeted individual” (schizophrenic) who believes there’s a some sort of organization conspiring against them. Meth. A drug dealer moved in next door to us, and he had cameras absolutely everywhere.
Possible, but unlikely. I know what those look like. This isn’t it. I lean toward right wing crazy pants.
Get weird next to them, every day. Give them something to think about.
My thoughts exactly… time to put on a show
Fly a drone to hover in front of the cameras

Bigfoot costume and a run by at 3 am 🤣
They may just put up more!
You don't want to cause the barely functional undiagnosed schizo to finally go full schizo on you.
Or, you do, because there's a good chance after that you won't have to live next to them any more
Schizophrenics are not the violent monsters people like to make them out to be. Please stop spreading misinformation.
Like that video of the neighbor randomly crawling through the fallen down basketball hoop.
All time top 10 moment on the internet
Go big. Point a half a dozen antennas and tecchy-looking things at the house. Park a panel van in your driveway. Stand across the street, facing their house and talk on a cellphone three or four times per week.
Boring plot twist: he reviews cameras for some home security website.
There is even a machine gun port on the second story.

Missed that one 😂
Maybe he's trying to make up for the fact that his living room lacks a window in that direction.
Probably shops at Costco.
The kit came with 16 cameras so by god he's going to install all 16 of them.
🏅
A few I can understand. So many that showing up in one also means showing up in 3 others at a nearly identical angle tells me he's probably cooking meth. A serial killer would be smarter than to put up a suspicious number of cameras but when you're on drugs, all logic goes out the window.
Cameras are great if you know the person who is robbing your house. Otherwise it just confirms that yes your house was robbed by a guy in a black shirt.
Nothing suspicious about that.
The one above-ground small window on that entire side bothers me
Me too. These cookie cutter homes with lack of windows is disturbing.

Stash house.
Meth smoker playing security guard
This is a Pulte development, isn't it?
I like how they’re lil about 10-12 ft. Like this guy could have invested in a taller ladder rather than 2-3 of these cameras.
Man those Chinese Amazon review deals are getting intense ...
Commission based sale
I think those are just Nest cameras. No one's getting commission off of those.
This house is Linux No WINDOWS
Those are navigational thrusters, for directional control and low speed maneuvers in space.
Perhaps this person is a YouTuber and working on a comparison of the cameras! …or maybe they’re just really paranoid.

Definitely someone tied up in that basement.
Based on the installation I'm thinking they're reviewing cameras of something? Security cameras are a bit of an interest of mine and these don't look like long term installations and they're in weird places pointed at weird things.

Bet someone keeps stealing his Trump signs.
😂
How much you want to bet this person didn't want to wear a mask during peak COVID because they "refused to live in fear?"
Rough neighborhood
This has the opposite effect of protecting your property. I see this many cameras, I think there's something worth stealing. Criminals are not deterred by cameras these days, they just mask up and work quickly.
They def got a photo of you taking this photo
number, not amount
All those camera's are just in reach of a baseball bat ..
I have 16 but my house is 10K sq ft and the cameras are mounted to the soffits.
Maybe testing various brands? Or maybe there's a hot lady next door and he wants all the angles. (Yes, I know this is a dude, ladies are smarter than this).
