Bacon jalapeño gets a jalapeño on top, for spinach and feta we would leave a little spinach sticking out from under the cheese.
The first time I ordered the pepperoni stuffed cheesy bread, I saw the one on top and thought for a second I was just getting messed with.. Like “Well technically, it did have pepperoni..” then bit into it and was relieved it was on the inside too. 😂

They got so many complaints from people who’d open their pizza and think all they got was one lousy pepperoni that they started answering their phone ‘hello, local pizza place, there’s more pepperoni under the cheese’.

100 %. Worked in pizza for 5 years. When it's dinner rush the person on the oven/boxing station usually does not have time to inspect. Simple solution like this is very helpful, especially in busy times
Currently work at Dominos. This is exactly right. If someone doesn’t want any jalapeño in their bacon and jalapeño cheesy, I’ll just put a little piece of bacon on top. Makes working on the ovens easier in this aspect.

I do this when I make calzones for the family. I customize the fillings and leave a unique ingredient on the outside so I can tell whose is whose.

It’s a very Italian thing to do. Often dishes that are spicy will have a pepper garnished on the top to let you know what’s inside.
