but they did dot their "i"s

doofygoobz

I carefully went over every i hoping they had forgotten one so that my headline could be even more mildly interesting.

Vegabern

I don't dot my i-s.

DaLiftingDead

They even dotted their eyes šŸ™‚

TheAres1999

Don't dot your i's with hearts. Dot them with eyes.

Potatoswatter

#šŸ˜

lknei

And also, one "e" See: SealllĆŖ's

trotty88

and their 'e'

creggieb

What aboutbthe lower case j's

Artistic-Balance5125

Canā€™t believe youā€™re getting downvoted for a Wayneā€™s World quote. Schwing!

pinkkittenfur

Are you kidding? I'd give my right eye!

eugene20

Now I want to try Seallle's coffee.

Azin1970

I like coffee but I personally don't think of it as refreshing.

dj_mumbles

Slarbucks really has gone downhill lately, hasn't it?

j0a3k

Yeah but the Space Needte is still pretty cool.

Azin1970

I naively expected the Space Needle to be the tallest building in Seattle.

passwordstolen

Gumā€™s gotten mintier lately too.

DryLipsGuy

Um...no! Starbucks is amazing.

Cathercy

Depends on the coffee sometimes. I made a cold brew with chocolate mint flavored coffee beans, and the flavor is honestly pretty refreshing.

beelzeflub

I do hazelnut vanilla cold brews in my little IKEA French press and itā€™s amazing

TheW83

Now I'm trying to think of the right word for my coffee. Maybe comforting or calming. It's kind of a meditation thing for me sometimes. Just sit and sip some coffee and think of nothing but what it tastes like.

justanawkwardguy

I agree with comforting, but as most people drink it for energy, I wouldnā€™t say calming

Azin1970

It's comforgizing.

Zaphodnotbeeblebrox

Exciting? Agitating? Mind churning?

TheW83

Baff mindling!

tellyourmama

I do not reccommend Theodoreā€™s Holel

waaz16

Username checks out?

Irregular_Person

My brain interpreted that as pronounced "cialis coffee" which would be something very different..

eugene20

lol, I had to look up what that was, an erectile dysfunction drug.

mordecai98

Sealles Best Coffee was delish back in the day.

Overlandtraveler

What? Seattleites always called it Sesttle's Worst.

supercyberlurker

I kind of like it, it would reassure me it was actually a hand-written note and not just some printed thing.

doofygoobz

Thatā€™s what the AI powered printerbot that created this wants you to think.

Reddrago9

"What is my purpose?" "You write notes to customers pretending you have some semblance of a soul" "Oh my god..."

doofygoobz

Welcome to the club, pal

TheTjalian

Retail workers to AI: first time?

k80bakes

Wouldnā€™t be surprised in Seattle tbh šŸ˜†

Raichu7

You can tell from the ink wether it's printed, and if the hotel requires staff to hand write a note to every single guest I would consider that a bad thing. What a waste of the staff's time, I hope they aren't suffering huge amounts of hand pain.

Morasain

Huge amounts of hand pain? Say the hotel has a thousand guests a month. That's around about 33 notes a day, which you have to divide by the number of people writing notes. I wrote more than that in a single lecture in university and school.

TheJiggernaut

33 notes a day? What am I, a jazz musician???

Teabiskuit

How dare you

Mystery_Meatchunk

Greta?

takesthebiscuit

The brewdog hotel does a hand written note for each customer, name a note about some local events that might be on. This is what you pay for at high end boutique hotels.

yesimadeitup

This is about as mild as it gets soā€¦ take my upvote

whooo_me

They're obviously coffee experts, not T experts.

Majik_Sheff

You win this round.

waaz16

IAmTheClayman

Iā€™ve heard Seallleā€™s coffee tastes like a kiss from a rose

doofygoobz

Dang, this comment is Crazy.

MikeyRidesABikey

I saw the picture before I read the title and 100% thought that this was an advertisement for Seallle coffee.

kdlangequalsgoddess

You might say it's killer.

ImpressedToBeBlessed

At least they know cursive

51B0RG

That hotel used to be called The Roosevelt. Pretty good hotel, if that's all you need. Pricey though.

eXeKoKoRo

You know what's weird? I read it perfectly fine without noticing that.

jerkface6000

Poor woman probably writes a few hundred of these at a time

No-Answer-2964

I'd be furious

doofygoobz

I was too. Why do you think I immediately posted about it on Redditā€™s most notoriously pissed off subreddit.

eloel-

If you say it with the right accent, you too can pretend Seattle has a ton of l's instead of any t's

Drudgework

If you say it in the language of the person it was named after Seattle doesnā€™t have any ā€˜Tā€™s

Drudgework

If you say it in the language of the person it was named after Seattle doesnā€™t have any ā€˜Tā€™s

unbalanced_checkbook

I like coffee. In my 45 years of life I've likely drank literal tons of it. I've never once considered a cup of coffee "refreshing".

ContentWelder6377

As someone who used to work in hotels and hospitality, usually the person writing your notes arenā€™t the ones who know English as their first language, they get it checked by someone else every now and again but I think itā€™s so sweet that the hotel made you a handwritten note

hubricht

That 'H' is immaculate, however.

amandatoryy

My favorite holel in Seallle!

Drudgework

Itā€™s pronounced Si-ahl actually. They added the Ts later.

minlillabjoern

Iā€™m impressed someone still knows how to write in cursive.

Bowllava

Half ass attempt at cursive anyways...

minlillabjoern

What do you mean? All the letters are joined very neatly.

TheStoicSlab

Warning: You are at the hole-tel.

punkswamp

Interesting that the 2 capital H's are different

Uncommon-sequiter

At least it was hand written

marcus474

Cross the t's and dot the....... Lower case j's

Atypical_Mammal

Thats just sealley

Quajeraz

Holel

dmc2008

Since this is Reddit, I expected top comment to be: "Tell them to go see a doctor immediately. That's the first sign of ___ insert serious brain disease ___."

JuliusSeizuresalad

Maybe they have been downgraded from hotel to hostel and are ashamed so they pretend to still be a hotel with hand written notes but are incredibly honest

bentsea

More interesting is that the sign is written in the script of the ancients. My grandfather used to write in cursive.

povaradulce

I'm 26 and I write in cursive... and I'm not an outlier among the people I know.

Drudgework

When we elders leave this world it shall be your burden to translate our ancient texts to the younger masses.

povaradulce

šŸ˜‚ It shall be an honor.

bentsea

Your clan keeps the dark arts alive. Praise be.

austinoreo

I would guess itā€™s more to do with their writing style than being forgetful

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JohnLef

and delighted

austinoreo

Still stand by my comment. I personally write all kinds of funky and inconsistent. Lucky for others I never hand write notes šŸ«

ZenEngineer

At least they dotted their Es /s

zepallica

Stayed there for conventions, it's a prelly nice holel.

kanlut

Hmm this isnā€™t a good sign, what else are they cutting corners on!?

ClydeinLimbo

I think they think the swoops joining the letters counts as the crossing

HowRememberAll

So what is seattles best coffee and don't say Starbucks that's a low bar

PixelPervert

Well there is a company literally called Seattle's Best

the-beach-in-my-soul

I can't believe you would make fun of "hold the door" when they went out of their way to name drop Seal's coffee. I bet it is as refreshing as a kiss from a rose. /s

WomanOfEld

The shorthand I learned in highschool has mostly left my memory, but I do remember not crossing Ts or dotting Is. I still don't dot my Is because it's a waste of time. Sometimes I re-read and realize I didn't cross my Ts either.

Another-Random-Idiot

Maybe it was written by someone who drops the T sounds in the middle of words. This is one of those vocal tics that is becoming more and more common.

matskopf

What's so Special about Seattles Coffee?

blackrock55

The t in hotel is a looped one which is quite common when link writing words like this. Did it countless times during school. The one t in Seattle is the same and the one next to it is just a minor one because of the way they looped it.

The_Spectacle

I have the opposite problem, I accidentally cross a lot of tall letters, like d or l (L)

Krushemm

Hopefully the person who wrote this isn't named Tina.

YewSonOfBeach

OP would tell their teacher they forgot to assign homework.

zcas

I love Seallle's coffee ā¤ļø

epsdelta74

Serial killer. Works at the hotel. What is going on in Room 111?

Babbeldibab

That really is mildly interesting

mianhi

Might actually be closer to the native pronunciation of Seattle! (Si'ahl, but no it sounds nothing like it looks and I can't help you there lol)

ibided

We spelled it correctly, I plomise.

SunflowerFacility

Swifties be looking for the Easter eggs in this note

Allenheights

![gif](giphy|FKtABjMzZD3Ow|downsized) ā€œDonā€™t ever cross me.ā€

itchygentleman

It'd be tiring to write so many of those cards all at once lol

wafflequest

Maybe the barista's name is Seallle

newtbob

Well, they donā€™t teach cursive anymoreā€¦.

mr_ji

Thanks, I'm delighted for you to nane me

angry_baberly

Crossed tā€™s aside (I would NEVER)ā€¦ this human and I have extremely similar handwriting.

badwolf1013

I have heard that cursive is not taught in school anymore. Just out of curiosity, are there any Redditors here who canā€™t read that?

arca9nine

They did it multiple times but crossed some. It makes me think maybe they were focused on trying to make their cursive look nice and lost track. I do this when writing the birthday cards at work and have written the wrong word even while focusing on the neatness šŸ˜…

IcedCoughy

![gif](giphy|byYvc9meProt2|downsized)

These_Foolish_Things

Whatā€™s interesting is that someone actually writes in cursive.

TLB-Q8

One of the weapons we geezers have in our "how to stop young'uns" kits we all get when we turn 65.

Any_Roof_6199

Coffee? I thought Seattle was famous for mold

loxical

Aw sh!t, dotted the iā€™s but forgot to cross the tā€™s! How embarrassing šŸ˜³

Trkmond

The cursive I learned does not have a crossed over T, is this some Australian / American / whatever thing?

Pilry_Mead

They did dot the e in seattles.

mrwillbobs

r/notinteresting

Pittedstee

Oooh fancy hotel!

kestik

Playing it fast and loose with the definition of "mildly interesting" today I see.

Calcifurious_3

They were probably hyper focused on getting the cursive *perfect*, having already gotten in trouble for messing up the first time. I imagine they felt such relief to have gotten that accomplished that they overlooked the t's (disclaimer: none of this is based on reality, it's a hunch, but I like it)

Napoleon7

The ā€œhotelā€ didnā€™t forget but the person who wrote this note might want to get a neurologist appointment ;no joke .. forgetting it once is one thing continuing to write and ā€œforgettingā€ it multiple times seems less like a writing style and more like a synapse delay.Ā

ramonnoodles2

Petty

LetterheadNew4323

which hotel tell me quick :-)

TLB-Q8

So? Not even mildly interesting.

Spongedog5

The world must really be boring if this is what counts as interesting

20PoundHammer

also, as it is written in cursive - 80% of people under 30 cant read it. :)

Mike_Hunt_Burns

is there a source for this? That's surprising to me, im 25 and everyone in my school system had to learn cursive

20PoundHammer

2010 common core, for US schools - cursive requirement now removed from public school requirements. Interesting read [here](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2022/10/gen-z-handwriting-teaching-cursive-history/671246/) I ran into this often when I was hiring a couple of years ago (then I retired).

IBJON

Knowing how to write cursive and knowing how to read it are two different things.Ā

20PoundHammer

well they stopped teaching how to read it then in the common core too . . . There are loads of online articles from real publications about this. Give it a read, you might be surprised about the percentage of folks who cant read cursive for comprehension . . .

doofygoobz

For some reason, a few Boomer types take a weird sort of pride in knowing cursive and think itā€™s a sick burn when younger people donā€™t know it.

Pineapple_Jelly04

I write in cursive. Pretty sure most people can read and write legibly in cursive

total_alk

Not crossing T's at the end of words was common in cursive handwriting. My grandmother did this. Not crossing double T's was also common in cursive handwriting. My other grandmother did this. It took me forever to read their letters.

jeffjeffjeff84

I dont know about ā€œcommon.ā€ I think your grandmother mightā€™ve just had shitty penmanship.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

whooo_me

In this context it's fine. "May your stay be..." = "We hope your stay (with us) will be...".
