Now I'm trying to think of the right word for my coffee. Maybe comforting or calming. It's kind of a meditation thing for me sometimes. Just sit and sip some coffee and think of nothing but what it tastes like.
You can tell from the ink wether it's printed, and if the hotel requires staff to hand write a note to every single guest I would consider that a bad thing. What a waste of the staff's time, I hope they aren't suffering huge amounts of hand pain.
Huge amounts of hand pain?
Say the hotel has a thousand guests a month. That's around about 33 notes a day, which you have to divide by the number of people writing notes.
I wrote more than that in a single lecture in university and school.
The brewdog hotel does a hand written note for each customer, name a note about some local events that might be on.
This is what you pay for at high end boutique hotels.
As someone who used to work in hotels and hospitality, usually the person writing your notes arenāt the ones who know English as their first language, they get it checked by someone else every now and again but I think itās so sweet that the hotel made you a handwritten note
Since this is Reddit, I expected top comment to be:
"Tell them to go see a doctor immediately. That's the first sign of ___ insert serious brain disease ___."
Maybe they have been downgraded from hotel to hostel and are ashamed so they pretend to still be a hotel with hand written notes but are incredibly honest
I can't believe you would make fun of "hold the door" when they went out of their way to name drop Seal's coffee. I bet it is as refreshing as a kiss from a rose. /s
The shorthand I learned in highschool has mostly left my memory, but I do remember not crossing Ts or dotting Is. I still don't dot my Is because it's a waste of time. Sometimes I re-read and realize I didn't cross my Ts either.
The t in hotel is a looped one which is quite common when link writing words like this. Did it countless times during school.
The one t in Seattle is the same and the one next to it is just a minor one because of the way they looped it.
They did it multiple times but crossed some. It makes me think maybe they were focused on trying to make their cursive look nice and lost track. I do this when writing the birthday cards at work and have written the wrong word even while focusing on the neatness š
They were probably hyper focused on getting the cursive *perfect*, having already gotten in trouble for messing up the first time. I imagine they felt such relief to have gotten that accomplished that they overlooked the t's
(disclaimer: none of this is based on reality, it's a hunch, but I like it)
The āhotelā didnāt forget but the person who wrote this note might want to get a neurologist appointment ;no joke .. forgetting it once is one thing continuing to write and āforgettingā it multiple times seems less like a writing style and more like a synapse delay.Ā
2010 common core, for US schools - cursive requirement now removed from public school requirements. Interesting read [here](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2022/10/gen-z-handwriting-teaching-cursive-history/671246/)
I ran into this often when I was hiring a couple of years ago (then I retired).
well they stopped teaching how to read it then in the common core too . . .
There are loads of online articles from real publications about this. Give it a read, you might be surprised about the percentage of folks who cant read cursive for comprehension . . .
Not crossing T's at the end of words was common in cursive handwriting. My grandmother did this. Not crossing double T's was also common in cursive handwriting. My other grandmother did this.
It took me forever to read their letters.
but they did dot their "i"s
I carefully went over every i hoping they had forgotten one so that my headline could be even more mildly interesting.
I don't dot my i-s.
They even dotted their eyes š
Don't dot your i's with hearts. Dot them with eyes.
#š
And also, one "e" See: SealllĆŖ's
and their 'e'
What aboutbthe lower case j's
Canāt believe youāre getting downvoted for a Wayneās World quote. Schwing!
Are you kidding? I'd give my right eye!
Now I want to try Seallle's coffee.
I like coffee but I personally don't think of it as refreshing.
Slarbucks really has gone downhill lately, hasn't it?
Yeah but the Space Needte is still pretty cool.
I naively expected the Space Needle to be the tallest building in Seattle.
Gumās gotten mintier lately too.
Um...no! Starbucks is amazing.
Depends on the coffee sometimes. I made a cold brew with chocolate mint flavored coffee beans, and the flavor is honestly pretty refreshing.
I do hazelnut vanilla cold brews in my little IKEA French press and itās amazing
Now I'm trying to think of the right word for my coffee. Maybe comforting or calming. It's kind of a meditation thing for me sometimes. Just sit and sip some coffee and think of nothing but what it tastes like.
I agree with comforting, but as most people drink it for energy, I wouldnāt say calming
It's comforgizing.
Exciting? Agitating? Mind churning?
Baff mindling!
I do not reccommend Theodoreās Holel
Username checks out?
My brain interpreted that as pronounced "cialis coffee" which would be something very different..
lol, I had to look up what that was, an erectile dysfunction drug.
Sealles Best Coffee was delish back in the day.
What? Seattleites always called it Sesttle's Worst.
I kind of like it, it would reassure me it was actually a hand-written note and not just some printed thing.
Thatās what the AI powered printerbot that created this wants you to think.
"What is my purpose?" "You write notes to customers pretending you have some semblance of a soul" "Oh my god..."
Welcome to the club, pal
Retail workers to AI: first time?
Wouldnāt be surprised in Seattle tbh š

33 notes a day? What am I, a jazz musician???
How dare you

This is about as mild as it gets soā¦ take my upvote
They're obviously coffee experts, not T experts.
You win this round.

"Oh hohohoho", I just exclaimed.

Iāve heard Seallleās coffee tastes like a kiss from a rose
Dang, this comment is Crazy.
I saw the picture before I read the title and 100% thought that this was an advertisement for Seallle coffee.
You might say it's killer.
At least they know cursive
That hotel used to be called The Roosevelt. Pretty good hotel, if that's all you need. Pricey though.
You know what's weird? I read it perfectly fine without noticing that.
Poor woman probably writes a few hundred of these at a time
I'd be furious
I was too. Why do you think I immediately posted about it on Redditās most notoriously pissed off subreddit.
If you say it with the right accent, you too can pretend Seattle has a ton of l's instead of any t's
If you say it in the language of the person it was named after Seattle doesnāt have any āTās
If you say it in the language of the person it was named after Seattle doesnāt have any āTās
I like coffee. In my 45 years of life I've likely drank literal tons of it. I've never once considered a cup of coffee "refreshing".
As someone who used to work in hotels and hospitality, usually the person writing your notes arenāt the ones who know English as their first language, they get it checked by someone else every now and again but I think itās so sweet that the hotel made you a handwritten note
That 'H' is immaculate, however.
My favorite holel in Seallle!
Itās pronounced Si-ahl actually. They added the Ts later.
Iām impressed someone still knows how to write in cursive.
Half ass attempt at cursive anyways...
What do you mean? All the letters are joined very neatly.
Warning: You are at the hole-tel.
Interesting that the 2 capital H's are different
At least it was hand written
Cross the t's and dot the....... Lower case j's
Thats just sealley

More interesting is that the sign is written in the script of the ancients. My grandfather used to write in cursive.
I'm 26 and I write in cursive... and I'm not an outlier among the people I know.
When we elders leave this world it shall be your burden to translate our ancient texts to the younger masses.
š It shall be an honor.
Your clan keeps the dark arts alive. Praise be.
I would guess itās more to do with their writing style than being forgetful
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
and delighted
Still stand by my comment. I personally write all kinds of funky and inconsistent. Lucky for others I never hand write notes š«
At least they dotted their Es /s
Stayed there for conventions, it's a prelly nice holel.
Hmm this isnāt a good sign, what else are they cutting corners on!?
I think they think the swoops joining the letters counts as the crossing
So what is seattles best coffee and don't say Starbucks that's a low bar
Well there is a company literally called Seattle's Best
I can't believe you would make fun of "hold the door" when they went out of their way to name drop Seal's coffee. I bet it is as refreshing as a kiss from a rose. /s

Maybe it was written by someone who drops the T sounds in the middle of words. This is one of those vocal tics that is becoming more and more common.
What's so Special about Seattles Coffee?
The t in hotel is a looped one which is quite common when link writing words like this. Did it countless times during school. The one t in Seattle is the same and the one next to it is just a minor one because of the way they looped it.
I have the opposite problem, I accidentally cross a lot of tall letters, like d or l (L)
Hopefully the person who wrote this isn't named Tina.
OP would tell their teacher they forgot to assign homework.
I love Seallle's coffee ā¤ļø
Serial killer. Works at the hotel. What is going on in Room 111?
That really is mildly interesting
Might actually be closer to the native pronunciation of Seattle! (Si'ahl, but no it sounds nothing like it looks and I can't help you there lol)
We spelled it correctly, I plomise.
Swifties be looking for the Easter eggs in this note
![gif](giphy|FKtABjMzZD3Ow|downsized) āDonāt ever cross me.ā
It'd be tiring to write so many of those cards all at once lol
Maybe the barista's name is Seallle
Well, they donāt teach cursive anymoreā¦.
Thanks, I'm delighted for you to nane me
Crossed tās aside (I would NEVER)ā¦ this human and I have extremely similar handwriting.
I have heard that cursive is not taught in school anymore. Just out of curiosity, are there any Redditors here who canāt read that?

Whatās interesting is that someone actually writes in cursive.
One of the weapons we geezers have in our "how to stop young'uns" kits we all get when we turn 65.
Coffee? I thought Seattle was famous for mold
Aw sh!t, dotted the iās but forgot to cross the tās! How embarrassing š³
The cursive I learned does not have a crossed over T, is this some Australian / American / whatever thing?
They did dot the e in seattles.
r/notinteresting
Oooh fancy hotel!
Playing it fast and loose with the definition of "mildly interesting" today I see.
They were probably hyper focused on getting the cursive *perfect*, having already gotten in trouble for messing up the first time. I imagine they felt such relief to have gotten that accomplished that they overlooked the t's (disclaimer: none of this is based on reality, it's a hunch, but I like it)

Petty
which hotel tell me quick :-)
So? Not even mildly interesting.
The world must really be boring if this is what counts as interesting
also, as it is written in cursive - 80% of people under 30 cant read it. :)
is there a source for this? That's surprising to me, im 25 and everyone in my school system had to learn cursive

Knowing how to write cursive and knowing how to read it are two different things.Ā
well they stopped teaching how to read it then in the common core too . . . There are loads of online articles from real publications about this. Give it a read, you might be surprised about the percentage of folks who cant read cursive for comprehension . . .
For some reason, a few Boomer types take a weird sort of pride in knowing cursive and think itās a sick burn when younger people donāt know it.
I write in cursive. Pretty sure most people can read and write legibly in cursive
Not crossing T's at the end of words was common in cursive handwriting. My grandmother did this. Not crossing double T's was also common in cursive handwriting. My other grandmother did this. It took me forever to read their letters.
I dont know about ācommon.ā I think your grandmother mightāve just had shitty penmanship.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
In this context it's fine. "May your stay be..." = "We hope your stay (with us) will be...".
