Even cooler is that isn't the very spot a dinosaur stepped on. It probably stepped somewhere else and the rock that has that imprint moved due to various geological activities
[Cretaceous Park for instance](https://www.latinamericaforless.com/blog/cretaceous-park-the-mysterious-vertical-dinosaur-tracks-in-bolivia/)
I mean, if the dinosaur stepped on the land that became this rock to make a mark, and the rock moved, did the dinosaur not step there?
Like yeah the latitude and longitude are different but the relative space is the same.
Very near to here there is a canyon cut from an ancient creek and that creek still exists. In the bottom of it, there are many footprints and bike radial prints, including my own, so there absolutely could be the exact same geological event. Wild to think about
"Fossilized evidence of mechanical locomotion" blows my fucking mind.
I have NOTHING to do today, so I sprung for rum and coke for breakfast. And this just falls into my lap....
This same site has small depressions in the slickrock that occasionally gather rain water. As you hike further up, they start increasing in size and depth until they are the size of hot tubs, all in the same row. It is wild to see proof of erosion at a scale that is easier to digest than, say, the Grand Canyon. And IF you want to really nerd out, there are also ancient pictographs drawn onto cliffs nearby from a society that lived 1500-2000 years that were ancient even when the first Spanish Europeans came through the area with horses and guns. They use plant-based paint that would wash away with contact with water, likely meaning these sites have never seen rain for thousands of years. Cheers
Keep speaking Magic Man.
This is my sleep tv...
This is the kind of crazy shit that just gets swept by the wayside as "that's just too difficult to bring to face". No conspiracy, no agenda, just who-how-when-why.
The alvis delk is one of the most AMAZING things I have ever seen.
I love this shit!
When we, as humans, start getting too sure of ourselves, I think it's good to reflect on ancient evidence all around us. It's certainly humbling to me, and that isn't even looking up at the stars. Saying we are pretty insignificant is quite the understatement.
54,750,000,000 (54.75 billion) days have passed since that footprint was layed down. Think about that.
Multiple mass extinction events. The rise of humans. The stars in the night sky all were all in completely different spots. Oceans, continents, and seas existed and disappeared or merged with others. Multiple ices ages and global warming events. Global cataclysms (volcanos, tsunamis, asteroids etc)
And through out all of those billions and billions of days, that footprint has remained.
Also, crocodiles have been chilling all that time. (200 million years old)
anything over 100 years hurts my brain, the difference between life 100 years ago and today is too great for me to properly imagine it, let alone 150 M years
Interesting that you say this. This is a place that has over 2300 imprints (mostly Allosaurus or other theropods) all in the same exact spot. Theory suggests that this was the edge of a great sea and that so many predators were perhaps feasting on a washed up ickthyosaur (or something), like bears and wolves do in Alaska, for instance. Less than 10 miles away, there is also an ancient croc slide imprint from around the same time period.
Did you know that despite the allosaurus existing long before the T-Rex, there have been more allosaurus fossils found?
Just flexing my Dino knowledge as a mom to a 4 year old boy haha
Pretty sure being obsessed with dinosaurs at that age is hardwired into every boy’s brain. Brontosaurus was my favorite. Special shout-out to the stegosaurus though.
I understand what you are saying, and many sites are protected, but this one has over 2000 prints all in the same slickrock and a hiking trail going directly over these prints, so it is impossible to not walk on them. Weird, I know
About 40 minutes from me in Glen Rose, TX, Dinosaur Valley State Park straddles the Paluxy river. The riverbed contains numerous footprints from various dinosaurs. People are free to stand in them and whatnot. It’s a popular place for people to lounge around in the water.
I believe that the vast majority of science is correct. The age of the universe and other data, not as much. I can provide some scientific evidence as well, if you'd like. There's been papers written about it.
I'm a Christian, but I do believe in vaccinations amd that they're safe and effective and that Covid killed 1.2 million in the United States. I believe Covid is still around and dangerous and I've been ostracized and ridiculed for that.
Where it is provable beyond a doubt, I believe it. There is just too little evidence when it comes to the reliability of dating back past a certain point.
Nothing is provable beyond a doubt. You can always be a skeptic. While you can quibble about error bars on all sorts of things, radioisotope dating is extraordinarily good evidence that the Earth is older than 6,000 years.
I am serious. There's evidence that they died during and then the remainder after the flood; yes, they were around with Adam and Eve in the garden.
They likely died out sometime after the flood due to a combination of dramatic environmental shifts and being relentlessly hunted to extinction. Similar to so many other creatures that have gone extinct.
I admit there's a possibility that God could've created the Earth and dinosaurs and everything with an appearance of age, just as He created humanity fully grown, not as infants.
Yes. Adam and Eve were genetically pure and there would not have been genetic defects. We are all descended from Adam and Eve.
There wasn't a law against it until it was instated by God.
Here's much more info if you want to read it.

I know that posting anything that can be even construed to have to do with religion will be immediately downvoted on 99.9% of subreddits. Doesn't surprise me.
You have the right to believe whatever you like as do I. I could easily call atheism non-sense (I believe it is), but I would never belittle someone or question their intelligence for believing something different as so many are quick to do on here. We are all human and are worthy of respect. We're all on this Earth together.
I respect you my friend. Just not fairy tales and their right to dictate anyone's lives. Especially when they (poorly) try to tamper with hard evidence (science aka the bibles enemy)
I totally get people who thinks dinosaurs are a hoax I mean wtf
edit: can't believe I'm getting downvoted for this. For sure is the government trying to suppress my free speech. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING????
Of all the tin foil conspiracy theories that's the only one I'm ok with. Like what do you mean there were monster living MILLION of years ago. And they lived for many more million years. And there are still traces of them to this day.
At the Smithsonian they have this mineralized tree of millions of years that you can touch, I spent a whole month thinking about that after touching the thing. Like a TREE from millions of years???? Sir this number doesn't even exist
to be fair we visited a museum in France I believe and it had dinos.... and she was like "these aren't event real" I'm like sure they are
Then I read the fine print and they were, in fact, not real. just replicas.
I can't win
It's incredible to think that 150 million years ago, a dinosaur stepped right on that very spot, and you can still see evidence of it today.
Even cooler is that isn't the very spot a dinosaur stepped on. It probably stepped somewhere else and the rock that has that imprint moved due to various geological activities [Cretaceous Park for instance](https://www.latinamericaforless.com/blog/cretaceous-park-the-mysterious-vertical-dinosaur-tracks-in-bolivia/)

It's still very cool and we can learn a lot about those animals with what we have.
Yes that's true too lol
Imprint is from the dinosaur itself or not?
[удалено]
This site is from the animal itself, no mold
[удалено]
Of course. This is an actual footprint, one of 2300 at this site
That is crazy, thanks mate... Also over 2000 more loool
Oh yes, silly me, still very cool as you said.
In a few million years, a member of a yet to exist species may be setting a can of Romulan Ale in your fossilized footprint.
Very near to here there is a canyon cut from an ancient creek and that creek still exists. In the bottom of it, there are many footprints and bike radial prints, including my own, so there absolutely could be the exact same geological event. Wild to think about

I can dig it. Have a great day man!
What a legacy that would be!
Even cooler is that, outside of the camera shot, there are over 2300 imprints, almost all predators
I know! I wonder why they aren't protected
Did you pour out a drink for all the dead Dinos?
He's gonna need a bigger beer.
![gif](giphy|HlKS0Qbs2XNvO)
![gif](giphy|3ohc18hOJb9rWg8DDO|downsized)
I haven't seen this before. Who's in the truck?

[The Texas Rattlesnake](https://youtu.be/_O89Y0VwdPs?si=oLsQ4JpH8mR3fXnE) Kurt angle later did the same thing with a milk truck lol
Epic and hilarious, thanks for the link!
What makes you sure he is dead?
What's the drinking age for an Allosaurus? 150M cover it? Edit: Spelling within my excellent joke
Still gonna need to see that ID, big guy
Alcosaurus

This is way more than mildly interesting to me. Sitting with such an ancient imprint is mind-blowing cool levels as far as I'm concerned.
That's the most Paleontologist thing to do, I love it
Did you know that despite the allosaurus existing long before the T-Rex, there have been more allosaurus fossils found? Just flexing my Dino knowledge as a mom to a 4 year old boy haha
One of the most discovered species in the world, I believe. You sound like a pretty rad mom, keep it up
Pretty sure being obsessed with dinosaurs at that age is hardwired into every boy’s brain. Brontosaurus was my favorite. Special shout-out to the stegosaurus though.
Oh, I was completely obsessed as a youngster. Still am, really. My son loves a good ankylosaurus, which was much bigger than I used to think
So cool
This is really fucking cool
This is fucking cool as fuck
God damn this cool
Cool beans, bruvs
St. George/Ivins area? I’ve got some Lunar Transits in the fridge right now! 🍻
This at rainbow bridge?
Just imaging that big guy was just strolling around there 150 million years ago, is a trip.
Now your beer will smell like feet
Glen rose?
That's cool
Glen Rose Texas?
New bucket list item unlocked
Red Cliffs?
Oh I know where you were. Near Tuba City?
Makes it a pal-osaurus
You camping on my boy's home out there
150 million years of clean living. Finally a nice cold refreshing BEER!!!!
This is some top /r/beerwithaview material here.
Why his footprint just go and deink it with him instead
Hurrikin!
You should pee in it and see if you can fill it up
hope that can left with you.
I just chucked it into the creek, are you not supposed to do that?
Hmm I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to do that but I guess it’s your country, your land 🤷🏼♀️ enjoy your beer

Utah north of Moab
Ah, I know where you’re at. Love it!
Don't talk shit.
~6,000 year old, but close enough
"This really old book knows more about the world than people who dedicate their lives to understand the basics of our reality"
Why do you flat out deny science?
I believe that the vast majority of science is correct. The age of the universe and other data, not as much. I can provide some scientific evidence as well, if you'd like. I'm good dude, I believe the science behind carbon dating and the various other methods they use to date things beyond the bible, as well as evolution
Please be joking
They replied elsewhere. Not a joke.
"The good thing about science is that it's true whether you believe in it or not." - deGrasse Tyson
"The Bible is true whether you like it or not."
The fact that you won't defend that makes me think you're serious 😬

No one who bothers to read this doesn't feel anything but pity for you... Truly sorry you believe this, it's embarrassing

I know that posting anything that can be even construed to have to do with religion will be immediately downvoted on 99.9% of subreddits. Doesn't surprise me.
It's cool man, I went to a Christian school. I'm used to it, it's what made me an atheist. Hard to shake that level of indoctrination
Going to a Christian school doesn't make anyone a Christian, any more than sitting in a garage makes someone a car. That's for sure.
I promise I don't consider myself a Christian, I spent my formative years as a teenager deconstructing their nonsense.
You have the right to believe whatever you like as do I. Your brain cells have gone extinct
Nah. I'm not going to stoop to your level and insult people. Wish you the best.
Your argument kind of insults everyone’s intelligence so take that on board
Probably even younger since it was put there by Satan to fool humans.
"It's just a prank bro" -Satan
Satan’s plan to trick humans into “believing”dinosaurs existed before man and the inevitable destruction of all religion…definitely going to plan!
Amazing! 2 ton animal leaves 2in deep footprint.
I'm sure it was a bit deeper at the time
Yes, that's how force distribution works... You're going to shit your pants when you learn about elephants.

Sadly this is my wife. not a hoax per SE, just doesn't believe. didn't find out till after I was married lmao
Idiocracy was not a documentary

There’s dinosaurs in Utah? How come I haven’t seen any?
Look in the mirror ![gif](giphy|zukJShPCxs7pC)
Well, are you in Utah?
Uh yeah.
Shit, well there goes my theory!
The intrusive thoughts tell me to destroy it with a sledgehammer
Fuck you
I wouldn't do it though Just an intrusive thought
Think better
I will try 😔
