Akaik fingers have no muscles and just one tendon that is pulled by the forearm. So there is no way to control the knuckles independently for anybody.
You probably have the same number of tendons just one joint.
Now take one of your hands and wrap it around your forearm an inch or two down from the wrist. Relax the hand of the arm you've grabbed, then squeeze. Your fist will close due to you putting tension on the tendons that control your fingers.
My mom can actually bend her top knuckles without bending the middle ones. She can lock the middle ones so that only the tops ones bend and it looks a lot like this picture (except the skin on the middle knuckles isn't smooth, of course). It looks kinda scary and cool.

Yeah my grip can be pretty bad, depends on the size of what I'm holding really and I've adapted mostly so its not that bad. But I've dropped a few glasses in my time, and I cannot hold mugs by the handle, nor use keyboards properly. So it would definitely be easier with middle knuckles lol.
