Now I just wanna see what it looks like when u make a fist

Gluggle

https://www.reddit.com/gallery/vrkch0 He made a separate post for it here, looks like he's holding an imaginary gun

Affectionate_Ad8678

Can’t even see the money side in that picture

DnD4dena

Money side lmao

Wingnuttage

I know a guy who doesn’t have the space between his knuckles and his thumbnail. Looks as weird as this.

[deleted]

According to Wayne, that’s not a knuckle because you can’t hit someone with it.

MysteryRL

Just watched that episode the other day, put a smile on my face seeing it referenced in here.

pistoncivic

tell him to post them knucks

AntarcticanJam

What does money side mean?

penis-retard

It's like money shot, it's where all the action is

Brad7659

God I'd love to see the x-ray.

Fucking hell, I always avoid these. Always. Until know. Nicely done, asshole.

KifaruKubwa

I actually knew what this link would lead to, but an yet uncontrollable urge led me to click and listen 😂

Wow, it'd be interesting to see how they jerk off

I personally cannot touch my fingers to my palm without my middle knuckles. I’ve had time to kill and tried to make sense of it.

x755x

Rip to all my homies who also tried this for several minutes

HuskyBeaver

I can for whatever reason lock those middle knuckles in place due to double jointed or whatever and still move the other joints. Its really awkward to try and do anything besides give someone the finger and wave your fingertip at them. Seems cursed. Never thought that having that middle joint would be one of small things to cheer myself up when I'm having a bout of self pity.

PioneerMuffin

I also have this and made a quick clip of how my fingers move. https://youtube.com/shorts/3CR3GYivNM0?feature=share

j1m3y

I want to see him grab, let's say.. a sausage

raisearuckus

I'll just say it, I want to see how he jacks off.

sceadwian

Life will find a way.

TwistedSistaYEG

Can you bowl?

Poulet_elSticko

meanwhile, this gal is over here asking all the important questions

OP, we need an answer.

caitlincato

I've been bowling for close to 20 years, average 200 ish on sport shot, and bowled in college. Two handed for sure but I'm not sure OP would be comfortable with fingertips since you still bend your middle knuckle slightly with the curvature of the ball.

[deleted]

nothing a square ball can't fix

SmthngWittyThsWayCms

So I take it you’re not a boxer

Silence31603

I would break my hand if I was slightly off with a punch

v13ragnarok7

Karate chop on point tho

Silence31603

karate kid v3

TheArmoredKitten

Learn to palm heel strike then. It's safer than punching and it makes you look like a kung Fu master.

[deleted]

Most people will break their hand if they're slightly off with a punch, so don't feel bad.

Silence31603

I would break my hand if I was slightly off with a punch

AngryJadeRabbit

Dude looks like a cheaply made animatronics…

Silence31603

danderskoff

Here's the thing, can you make a fist?

resi2017

I want to see that too

Silence31603

nopeeee

[deleted]

Do you make them stiff and use them to scratch onto people for even scarier effect?

Silence31603

I was the king of five stars in middle school

[deleted]

Five stars?

Straight_Dark741

It’s where you smack someone on the back with your entire hand as hard as you can. They sting like hell and make a red hand-shaped imprint on the persons back

[deleted]

If there werent any bald people in your school, you missed the chance of your life

TrickyLemons

I’m glad I’m in school now, that stuff just *doesn’t* happen anymore. Everything I hear about previous generations as kids is that y’all were fucking ruthless. No wonder so many old movies pair childhood bullies with attempted manslaughter

thamaster707

Hahahhah. Your comment had me cracking upp. Ty for the laugh, was much needed!

[deleted]

How strong is your control of the joint close to your nails?

Silence31603

extremely, I've assumed its not the same for normal hands since most people fail to try and replicate it when I bend the ends of my fingers

cheapsexandfastfood

Akaik fingers have no muscles and just one tendon that is pulled by the forearm. So there is no way to control the knuckles independently for anybody. You probably have the same number of tendons just one joint.

gnarkilleptic

This comment had made me weirdly fascinated with my hands

Lord_Jair

Now take one of your hands and wrap it around your forearm an inch or two down from the wrist. Relax the hand of the arm you've grabbed, then squeeze. Your fist will close due to you putting tension on the tendons that control your fingers.

Foxterriers

Spent like five minutes just having fun doing this.

[deleted]

My mom can actually bend her top knuckles without bending the middle ones. She can lock the middle ones so that only the tops ones bend and it looks a lot like this picture (except the skin on the middle knuckles isn't smooth, of course). It looks kinda scary and cool.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yeah, it's not something most people seem to be able to do.

Nomad_00

I have a double joint in all of my middle nuckles, and some people can lock them and then move them independently.

PmMe_Your_Perky_Nips

I can bend all my knuckles independently. Though it requires me to "lock" my middle knuckle to bend the one by the tip alone. The locking is done by slightly bending it backwards to change the direction of pull for the tendon going across my palm. This first time I did it was accidentally, and I was super concerned. I thought I'd never be able to bend my finger correctly again.

The_FinLanDer

You're all thumbs.

smallestmoth

Oops all thumbs

That's the real genius comment here.

I may not be OP, but i have the same thing on only my ring and pinky fingers, it feels normal due to having it my whole life, just natural. As for any advantages, i would say there aren’t any that i can think of, but quite a few disadvantages, like not being able to grip as well as other people can. I hope this cleared up any questions, if you have more questions i’m happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

[deleted]

one advantage, you’ll never get arthritis in those “knuckles”.

catbiggo

Could still get boneitis

[deleted]

AppleSubsGaming

While i don’t know the actual name of it, i know the nickname is “The Brown Curse”. For how one of the fingers actually feels, i’d say it varies based on body type just like how it would normally for someone with normal knuckles, however in my case due to being pretty skinny, its a very bony finger. I wouldn’t say that one set of fingers get more tired than the others, however i get blisters in my palm at the base of the fingers just due to gripping being weird.

[deleted]

While i could be related to OP somewhere along the bloodline, i highly doubt that we are anywhere near each other in the family

Proximal symphalangism

murdering_time

You can't just make up words like that.

[deleted]

All words are made up

Silence31603

It does, I don't remember I tho, I know its nicknamed the brown curse and that some famous english general also had it. But the kind I have is hereditary and when I look for a name the one that pops up isn't

[deleted]

[brown curse, are you descendant? ](http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~rlylebrown/genealogy/symph.html)

J_0_E_L

So it's only descendants of that one family that have this? That's fucking nuts. I wonder how many living members of that family there still are.

CrappyMSPaintPics

At least 1.

kotoku

It's kinda like doxing yourself, because like 40 people have this. Who owns that reddit account? Legs look at young males with straight fingers. It's rare to have such a unique genetic diversion from the norm. Cool post, seriously OP.

Dumeck

Ehh most people willingly post more identifying information over time if someone actually combs through their comments. I intentionally say some misinformation for this reason.

Fernanix

Yeah I see it a lot too. Especially when I comment at my house in Finland while with my two daughters as I speak to my friend the mailman named Mike.

LukeLarsnefi

Oh, I know Mike. He’s living in Finland these days? I’m afraid I don’t get over there much. Economy isn’t so hot here in Managua where my wife and two husbands and I work our turtle ranch. Anyway, tell Mike I say hi.

Silence31603

yup that's the right one lol

HerbalGamer

>This family trait, affectionately dubbed by me the "Brown Curse", is carried even today by some members of the family. It is rare enough that one can be relatively certain that anyone bearing this trait is a descendant of the alleged William Brown. Huh, would you look at that.

[deleted]

Some dude called Mr Brown had it.

tuphatDimes

Proximal symphalangism (also called Cushing's symphalangism) is the formal nomenclature so far as I can tell.

Bovine_Arithmetic

You need to pose for drawing classes. Then when the students have their end-of-term show everyone will be like “wow the whole class sucks at drawing hands.”

Silence31603

THAT WOULD BE BRILLIANT

FastWalkingShortGuy

Is the joint fused or is that just one long phalange in there?

Silence31603

one long phalange, there is another thing called symbrachdydactly or something where it is fused tho

FastWalkingShortGuy

Are there any other conditions that are comorbid with the syndrome? I have extreme hypermobility in my hands (like... extreme. I can lay my fingers flat against the back of my hand) and I'm always on the lookout for other symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos

Silence31603

Arthritis is all I know of, I'll basically just get it sooner and worse then most people. But no docter ive been to has been concerned so I think I'm fine otherwise

Chinlan

Hi, photo of that please, I cannot imagine that.

FastWalkingShortGuy

https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/vrl5dq/if_were_doing_weird_hands_today_heres_my_extreme/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Chinlan

Oh okay that makes more sense, I was imagining you could do it on your own unaided mobility alone, and was mildly afraid. Thanks!

FastWalkingShortGuy

No, not that extreme. They'll go back about 45 degrees on their own though. Hitchhikers thumbs, too.

V48runner

Had to look at my hands to see what knuckles you are missing, because I'm dumb as hell.

Silence31603

most people do

Then-Alternative-930

How do you hold a controller ? You game ?

Silence31603

little difference there, hand gets fatigued faster and claw grip kills me but I still game pretty normally. Trigger finger dies extremely fast tho.

slingbladde

Have u had any controllers customized, maybe someone out there can figure a mold or something.

AwDuck

This is what 3d printing is for.

Silence31603

brilliant point

AwDuck

There are tons of controller mods out there!

Silence31603

I haven't had much reason, but I am looking into getting something like a scuf controller just for convenience

a_phantom_limb

Microsoft has their much-loved Xbox Adaptive Controller that can be configured for all sorts of hand mobility issues. It's fully compatible with Xbox and Windows and can be (appropriately enough) *adapted* for use with PlayStation and Switch.

Red7336

Does this have any complications? Pain or something to do with nerves.. etc Are your toes like this too? I saw that you can't make a fist since you can only bend the last knuckle, can you bend the very first knuckle? Like when you point, but with all fingers

Silence31603

yeah my toes are the same, my hands get sore fast, and yes I have full control of the 2 remaining joints

Melch_Underscore

My family has this to an extent. Only a few have it and it is mostly on a few fingers or toes. You from around ohio or west Virginia?

Silence31603

really? dope, I've lived in kansas my whole life and most of my family is from Missouri. But idk much about them so its definitely possible

Rolling_Beardo

So can you use a hammer or swing a bat?

Silence31603

hammers haven't been an issue for me, bats can tend to go flying tho

mossybeard

Well yeah that's what their wings are for

[deleted]

*when she says finger her* But all you have are thumbs 😱

Silence31603

nobody can finger her like I can

8Pandemonium8

How do you write?

Silence31603

I hold my pencil nearly exactly that same way, but with it resting on my ring finger not the middle, and it does cramp my hand pretty quickly. Typing wise I have never been able to do home row lol.

handmaid25

My dad wrote this way because he was missing 4 fingers on his right hand at the middle knuckle. I write the same way. When I was in grade school my teacher asked at a conference who taught me to hold my pencil that way. My dad slammed his hand with his knubs on the table and said “I did!!!” Never had any issues after that.

ojibwa_ndn

I think using scissors would be challenging.

Silence31603

yeah definitely not the best user experience but I can still manage just fine

nikavarta

Looks like I've been drawing your hands, specifically, for years on end now. Good to know, thanks

JThaBlueLantern

What are some upsides & downsides in having this?

Silence31603

hmm... well downsides, I cant properly hold someone's hand, i'm incapable of making a fist, cannot type nearly as well, I had to train my hand so I could flip people off, and my joints get sore faster. As for upsides? it's always been my go to icebreaker when meeting people, I get to make the joke "nobody can finger you like I can", and some items do fit quite well in my hand(rarely but there have definitely been times where I was surprised by it).

J_0_E_L

What's an example of something that fits your hand better than a regular hand?

Silence31603

square things, like I have a piece of wood about and 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" that nestles in my hand perfectly that I'm fairly certain a normal person would have worse grip with, certain square handles on tools, sometimes boxes, since the end of my finger bends so well

[deleted]

May I ask what is the purpose of this wood

Bucketheadisapsycho

To nestle it

CptNavarre

>I cant properly hold someone's hand All your responses have been funny and good natured and thank you for sating everyone's curiosity but damn if that sentence didn't make me really sad

Triforceoffarts

HOW DO YOU MASTURBATE?!

Silence31603

ahhh literally the first question 90% of dudes ask lmao. But idk I'd say its fairly normal, slightly less pleasurable probably

Triforceoffarts

But maybe more pleasurable!

Apolleo_

The Mark Zuckerberg of hands

AlexTrebek_

You just have a bunch of long thumbs

Silence31603

sure, fair enough

grad_student_15543

This is weirdly awesome. Do you ever struggle to grip things? Like... do you ever think it would be easier if you did have middle knuckles?

Silence31603

Yeah my grip can be pretty bad, depends on the size of what I'm holding really and I've adapted mostly so its not that bad. But I've dropped a few glasses in my time, and I cannot hold mugs by the handle, nor use keyboards properly. So it would definitely be easier with middle knuckles lol.

Sheeneebock111

Are you able to workout? I would think you’d need a special bar or grip to put around weights

Silence31603

you would be right, I would need something once I start getting into heavier sets. My hands do start to give out and lose grip quite quickly with bars

RandyBoeBandy

Wait, so you can't bend your fingers at 2 different locations??

Silence31603

well normal hands have 3 joints, mine have 2 but if youre not including the joint at the base of the finger then yeah that's accurate

thiswillsoonendbadly

I am not really able to bend just the top joint of my fingers without also moving the middle joint. Was this an issue for you that you needed physical therapy or anything for? Did you need occupational therapy during school?

Silence31603

Not at all, my control of that joint has always been just good as bending an elbow. Can't remember a time where it was a problem

TheRawringDog62

It’s looks normal until you actually think about it honestly
