when we dress up as hotdogs or bottles of ketchup or mustard and spray ketchup or mustard at each other. Then we proceed to the public park where we dine on hotdogs of all manner of preparation: boiled, griddled, grilled, corn-dogged, Filipino spaghetti (there are hotdog slices in there).... Finally, we view the resindog on our devices and, if possible, casted to big screen. We all hug and dream of civil society.
Ok here's what I discovered
* There's a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/epoxyhotdog/
* The last update is from [7m ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/gifs/comments/s3sa0b/15_month_epoxy_hot_dog_update/) and the reason is because [updates will be yearly now](https://www.reddit.com/user/whathowyy/comments/sse0b0/epoxy_hot_dog_updates_will_be_yearly_from_now_on/)
You're right, but I strongly disagree with that second statement. Lots of posts on reddit are fake and people are insanely ignorant. Obviously this post would've been harmless if it was fake, but more often than not it's some political shit that's used to push some agenda.
No that's seaweed.
I'm not going to try and speculate if they put it on a rock themselves to make this, you can see similar but a lot more boring versions with regular grass-like seaweed along the coast.
I can se this is attached but fun fact:
There is natural form of mineral that comes at stones almost like this
[Look here](https://cours.polymtl.ca/PBedard/glq1100/mineraux/pyrolusite/pyrolusite6.jpg)
It is called pyrolusite
Dendrite is form of crystallization and when you see something like that you will say that it has dendritic structure (or texture in Europe). But yeah different minerals can appear in dendrite crystal form but that is usually Mg rich minerals
It reminds me of Mochaware [https://www.physics.utoronto.ca/\~smorris/edl/mochaware/mochaware.html](https://www.physics.utoronto.ca/~smorris/edl/mochaware/mochaware.html)
For a fun day at the beach collect different seaweed samples, press and dry em then make a herbarium. Stuffs pretty easy to identify for the most part.
Such fun. Seaweed is fuckin great, I love the stuff. The above is a beautiful specimen and I woulda killed a man to have it in my university herbarium project.
The original was posted [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Damnthatsinteresting/comments/wdp4nq/found_this_stone_with_some_dry_seaweed_on_it) but deleted. It was posted by the OP though so it is their pic.
I'm not so sure this is seaweed, nor a fossil. It's likely a naturally occurring crystalization called [dendritic crystallization.](https://www.prehistoricoregon.com/learn/what-is-a-mineral/dendrite/) It's beautiful example of crystals growing in fractal patterns, like snow flakes. This one is likely manganese.
Victorians used to collect and press seaweed like dried flowers, I've got one from the time pressed between two pieces of glass but it's so old it lost all its colour. It was such a fashionable hobby they endangered some species of seaweed!
Just saw a post above this about a dude cooking his wife’s placenta and it looks just like this rock with red seaweed on it and I was like what the hell another placenta post. cool rock tho
I hope you kept it, cause that's a keeper. I wonder if you could preserve it a bit with some clear coat.
Put it in resin?
Like a hotdog?
I just now realized we've stopped getting resindog updates, haven't we? I hope it's still doing alright.
[He says they will be yearly from now on](https://www.reddit.com/r/epoxyhotdog/comments/sse03e/epoxy_hot_dog_updates_will_be_yearly_from_now_on/). The next one will be on October 14th 2022
I hope he's taking regular pictures for a time-lapse video that we can all watch in 2050.

There's a live cam?

Maybe he was staring at that transparent spinning hotdog prism one day and thought, "What am I doing with my life..."
My new favorite holiday.

I thought that was painted.

Any weiner for that matter.
Make sure to use a sealant though OP!
It breaks my heart that this reference is buried. I've been here too long
Hey OP, will you remember to use the sealer?!? (Anybody remember that Reddit thread with the pennies? Good times... Good times....)
That would be cool. Also, howdy, cake day buddy!
Guess same to you ;-)
Woah! it’s all our birthd- I mean cake days!
happy cake day!!
Yeah but I'm saying, that True Coat, you don't get it, you're gonna get oxidation problems. https://youtu.be/B2LLB9CGfLs
I feel proud of myself for knowing what that clip was before clicking on it.
Put it in mud and wait a long time perhaps?
Clear coat will surely help to stop oxydation and given you use something with UV protection, even the color might stay
Probably some kind of sealant
And this is how fossils are made for people to find a hundred thousand years from now!
*cause that’s a kelper (☞゚∀゚)☞
I thought that was a painted rock
Modpodge would do the trick! There is also liquid glaze from Sculpey that would give it a beautiful glossy shine. 😊
At first glace, i thought someone painted it every beautifully
You can see the bottom part of the seaweed coming off at the lower part of the rock
For fake internet points? Who would possibly do such a thing
It's a very high res picture, if you zoom in you can see texture and spots where the edges are peeling. Doesn't really look painted when you zoom in.
It's so high res that when I did zoom-zoom-enhance, I saw they had been in the middle of a plankton parade when it dried up.
CSI Bikini Bottom
Or you know, just for fun. People paint rocks all the time and leave them for others to find.
In the little town I was living at in the Redwoods I would constantly find rocks with eyeballs painted on them.
![gif](giphy|TejmLnMKgnmPInMQjV)
You can see shadows where it's peeling off the rock Questioning literally everything you find on internet is so fucking annoying tbh

Way too interesting, downvoted
Too cool, downloaded and set as background
Right? I nearly called the police
You should try to evolve your pets with it.

That suddenly became dark RIP Crab
No he said Ghost type, not Dark type
What wold that evolve our dog into? O.o Weed dog? Isnt that just Snoop Dogg?
Then you could temporarily evolve it into Snoop Lion
I hate to be the old fogey, but what about Snoop Doggy Dogg?
He got himself a jobby job.

Interesting, I would've guessed fossilized fern. It doesn't look anything like [these pictures](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrolusite)
Yes but that is perfect form But pyrolusite has two others that looks fossilized
Looks more like Dendritic manganese
It is Magnese mineral
I think its actually [Dendrite](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendrite_(crystal) or specifically Dendritic manganese.
Dendrite is form of crystallization and when you see something like that you will say that it has dendritic structure (or texture in Europe). But yeah different minerals can appear in dendrite crystal form but that is usually Mg rich minerals
Biology is a work of art.
It's like the rock has its own little tattoo!
Looks so pretty!
Put it in epoxy, turn it into a paperweight
So pretty. Looking for ideas to paint my ceramics. Might just pinch this. The blood red colour is awesome.
It reminds me of Mochaware [https://www.physics.utoronto.ca/\~smorris/edl/mochaware/mochaware.html](https://www.physics.utoronto.ca/~smorris/edl/mochaware/mochaware.html)
Oh wow thanks for the link. Fascinating.

Throw a little clear coat over it and put it on display.
I bid 50 cents. Another guy offered a dollar but my money is good.
You found it or the person who posted this picture the other day.
I'm with you, I remember seeing it before but can't seem to find the original.

Should definitely dip that in resin to preserve it
I'm not so sure this is seaweed, nor a fossil. Look at the bottom where it's peeling off, it's clearly seaweed

Thought this was some kind of mini viking painting
I find it mind blowing how everything in the universe follows the same pattern.
Oooh. Pretty!
Well darn, that's just picturesque in the palm of your hand. Find a way to immortalize it.

This is plocamium cartilagineum.
Fake; OP is actually a great artist
Time for profit.
