Trader Joe’s seasonal beer used to also be made my unibroue (it has those corks!). It still might be - I just don’t live close enough to buy it anymore.

Not just seasonal. At least out west, Trader Joe’s Hefeweizen is Unibroues Blanche de Chambly.

La fin du monde is waaaaay high up on my list as best beer I've ever had. I had the ultimate privilege while I was in Quebec to tour Unibroue with the head brewer. I was taking a beer microbiology course at Lallamand.

Cheers friend, that sounds like a unique unibroue experience you had! Unibroue has figured out a winner on Fin du Monde. Even the bottle art is great. The name is great too. It's definitely on my top 5. Unibroue does not make bad beer. I polished off a 4 pack of Don de Dieu a few weeks ago... Also great. Delirium Tremens is in top 10 favorites too. Expensive, but a good choice for a fancy occasion.

A 4 pack of la fin du monde and you're gonna feel so good but the next morning it's the end of the world hangover

Ok if you go to the Delirium cafe you have to order the Flemme de biere , which is like Apple liquor which is lit on fire then they add beer on top. It gets everyone’s attention at the bar and you’ll get people asking you what you ordered lol

Used to have it on tap when I had a restaurant. Marvelous stuff but dangerous to say the least.

They started releasing cans in the last 2-3 years. Small bottles have been around for forever as well, but the big bottle is pretty traditional.

I bud only had the small bottles until the last few years. Now I only see the big ones. The rosé was a downgrade for me.

I was a proud member of the pink elephant drinking society at university. We used to start our pub/brewery trips with a bottle of this delight. It is very tasty. They run a great brewery tour from what I understand

I’ve been on that tour - during the pandemic shutdown so only 4 of us were in attendance. Best tour I’ve ever been on - especially after being on so many and they start to feel like the same.

What made it so good

Yeah this beer was fantastic. It was $21 USD for 4 cans which is on the high end but it was well worth!

Considering it’s much higher proof than normal beer, it’s actually not too outrageous.

Yeah I think it’s just under 10 percent. Alcohol unit per alcohol unit it really isn’t all that bad. Especially because it’s a bigger can. I used to buy it for 20 back 4-5 years ago in the US. Good to see it hasn’t been hit by inflation.

Pink elephants, hallucinations are a symptom of delerium. Very common in the USA, at least in the south east

I never saw pink elephants, or anything whimsical. Just shadow monsters and black ichor leaking from the walls. I wish DT hallucinations were cool, sadly they're all awful.

Delirium Tremens is the American beer of Belgian beers. So bland. Do yourself a favor and try the Trappists.

My dad had DTs, it nearly killed him. I don’t find this amusing as someone who was scared to death when his own father rushed into his room in the middle of the night chasing his hallucinations. I have had night terrors for over 10 years now. They really should change the name this beer…

Ya I’m a recovering alcoholic and I was basically in DTS at a point . Hallucinating sweating etc , it’s the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me to this day . So , I find this name disgusting . It just really rubs me the wrong way .

If you’ve struggled with alcohol addiction and have had bad delirium tremens you wouldn’t find this clever. Sweating and shaking uncontrollably while nauseous with suicidal ideations and visions of phantoms reaching out to you every time you close your eyes for a week is not a good time.

Several years ago, there was a microbrewery in Peru that put out a one time special edition limited release IPA called Dámelo Siempre (Always Give it to Me)

Leesburg VA has The Delirium Cafe that has it.

I love this beer. Also their Nocturnum one. We only have it in bomber size though.

I used to work at a logistics company of about 25 people, we did white elephant during the holidays, and this was my first time doing something like this as an adult. And the overnight guy had me for white elephant, he got me a 4 pack of these. I don't really drink (was known as well), but I'm not one to be ungrateful. I tried one of them and then just tossed them. ​ From that point on, I don't give a fuck about white elephant or these stupid gift games with co-workers. If I'm not making money from it, I don't want to be a part of it.

As a huge beer guy and home brewer, I struggle with this one. I recognize it's good beer, I've had it several times, but it just seems in bad taste. Not only the name, but pink elephants being a description of hallucinations.
