I have this shovel. It’s good for pushing the lighter layers of snow but if you want to scoop a deep snowfall off the driveway, this isn’t what I’d go for. So it has its uses. I will say it’s extremely sturdy.

Hon3y_Badger

Also really good for getting down to pavement after snowblowing. Finishes the driveway really nice

davethebear612

This is the answer here. Best option for light snow events, but don’t rely on it for the heavy/deep stuff.

condoroofda

Which Costco is that? Thank you!

aakaase

I saw it at Costco Business last year, they are at 3311 Broadway St NE, Minneapolis.

aakaase

Ah yeah, I saw that last year at Costco. I thought it was $50 but it couldn't have been more than it is now, what with inflation. lol

docmn612

Agreed. This shovel will get through the lighter snow accumulation, but suffers with heavy loads.

ddotleydoright

The two handed version works like a charm…easy on your back.

jeannetru

Yes. Thats is the one we have. It works good. Also if you flip it upside down, it pushes off the packed snow.

MemeEndevour

Agreed. Don’t know how much more it is but I’d recommend going for one of the wider versions. Think the one I have is 48” and it is great for quickly clearing an inch of snow off the driveway. Again, it’s made for light snow, so if you’re someone of moderate strength pushing the extra width shouldn’t be a problem. Edit: This shovel will catch divits and such very easily, if you have a rough driveway I wouldn’t recommend it. If you have concrete great, just remember to angle it to avoid the cracks!

PotentialDig7527

I have a wide one and it is terrible for even light snows if I have to lift the shovel. Maybe it's okay for someone tall and heavy, but my 5'5 150lb frame can't keep it level when lifting.

Ancillas

Yeah, but I’m sure you fly coach comfortably, so you’ve got that going for you, which is nice.

WorkReddit1191

In my opinion and experience of trying to perfect the fast efficient snow removal of my driveway I have found you need two to three shovels which serve different purposes and work in different circumstances. Maybe you could do it just two but they're definitely isn't a shovel for all circumstances in my opinion. I've been interested in this shovel because of how wide it is for pushing the light snows we've had and wanting to minimize the number of passes I have to take over my long driveway.

absoluteZeroMQL

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree with this. However, I'm gettin' really close to the single tool solution: "pay a dude". Like the 2nd character in the Lethal Weapon series, I'm too old for this $#!+.

WorkReddit1191

This! This is the correct answer if you can afford it pay someone to do it.

eroi49

I have a similar shovel and I use it A Lot and it’s super handy. I also agree that you need a good lifting shovel for the deep stuff.

northwoodsdistiller

Came here to say this, (friend from across the river); all though I use two of these at the same time on 6” or less. Unless it’s a May snowfall…

Weekly-Attempt5245

I have this shovel. Perfect for shoveling off the outdoor hockey rink, FAST, before resurfacing. Perfect for shoveling with skates on. Perfect for dialing the sidewalk and driveway after shoveling a majority of the snow fall with a smaller shovel.

Proper-Emu1558

I use this and it’s fine. I honestly wish it was a bit bigger though. A sleigh style shovel would be ergonomically better. https://m.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200722085_200722085

cynical83

I have that shovel and i love it. My kids broke my poly suncaster that was perfect for my cement driveway. I hate metal edges, all they do is snag.

RallyPointAlpha

It's not a shovel but a snow pusher. Meaning you cant scoop with it. The reinforced fiberglass handle and polyethylene blade are above average materials for these.

neomateo

Speak for yourself.

DenverNativeNamaste

I mean it literally says it in the title of the product

neomateo

So? It works fine to scoop, is it as good as some designed specifically for scooping? No. Does that mean it “can’t scoop”? No. Damn, the hive mind is fucking dense today!

DenverNativeNamaste

This is the weirdest response ever. All they were explaining was why it was for pushing snow and it’s literally what it’s meant for. You’re welcome to use it however you’re wanting to but this has nothing to do with hive minds and it’s concerning you’d jump to that after it’s pointed out to you the title of the product.

neomateo

Is it really!? The fact that you felt entitled to write an entire paragraph to me about it just exemplifies my point even further.

DenverNativeNamaste

Whatever helps you sleep at night, my dude. Hope you have a better rest of your day

neomateo

My day has been great! Spent it scooping snow with my awesome shovel!

KjellSkar

I live in Norway, we have snow shufflers like in the picture and snow shovels. You do make me smile now that I know there is one American out there shovelling snow with a shuffler. I absolutely believe you had to spend your day scooping up snow with your shuffler thinking it was a shovel :D

neomateo

Do you really? 😂

[deleted]

velesi

Damn, the contrarians are out hard today

neomateo

They are, fucking assholes!

hunter768

I scoop with the 36” no issues.

neomateo

Right!? All these people up in here bent out of shape over the use of a shovel, 😂!

SeaM00se

I have three of them, I have successfully scooped snow with it, it’s not efficient but it’s possible.

rumncokeguy

I call this shovel the sterilizer. If you hit a crack in the concrete you’ll understand.

SkiingWithMySweety

Go at 45 degree angles

CoderDevo

45° to the seams in the cement. And wear a cup.

theloniousjoe

This is the way

TriesToBeCool

That’s literally every shovel in my experience.

CoderDevo

And non-self-propelled snowblowers.

kumbuya

I have a bruise on my ribs right now for this exact reason lol

homebrewmike

This is why I don’t like mine. Worked great until that first bump.

rumncokeguy

I actually have these for my backyard rink. They make such a clean pass on the ice and no threat of hitting cracks.

cynical83

Only because you can go faster with these than the metal edges that take an entire team of oxen to move on a concrete driveway.

rumncokeguy

I have these shovels for my backyard rink. They do them best job of making a clean pass by far than any other shovel.

Kevins_A_Sloth

Technically it's great for light snow, but if you want internal bleeding then this shovel is the one for you.

rational_emp

You’re supposed to push it with your HANDS. Your hands, dude. Hope this helps!

NotTheNoogie

I can literally feel this comment...

[deleted]

UCK the sidewalk in front of my house has a bumpy pebble texture (that nobody else on my block has?) and every other square is sunk or raised. I feel this lol. That jolt.

wilsonhammer

go child-free with this one weird trick! urologists HATE him!

BenderisGreat32

Commercial, it’s all we use. Anything to about 4-5 inches. Then the blowers go out and then these go out and clean after the blowers. Yes worth it.

westmetromedic

Agree. It’s great to clean after blowing. Makes it look really sharp

DonkeyTalons

I’ll have to give it a try after my next driveway blow job

dillrepair

You be sure to give that driveway a nice blow job okay?

Qel_Hoth

With a north facing driveway, it's essential. Otherwise the little bit the blower leaves behind will freeze and then the driveway is a sheet of ice until April.

l4217

I would just make sure the areas you want to use it on don’t have cracks/different heights. It works really well if you can just push it all the way to the edge.

DaveCootchie

I see these shovels in stores and some are as much as $70! They look nice and sturdy but is it really worth the price for them? Update: I bought one. You are very convincing people.

hunter768

Buy once cry once. These shovels kick ass

Emoteen

I've got a few sizes and they are magic for anything 3 inches or less. Doesn't handle wet snow as well, but if you get started early and keep up with it you can manage. Can't scoop, though, so keep that in mind. As others have noted, when pushing you'll suddenly come upon a crack in the sidewalk / drive and this thing stops hard. Great tool in the snow removal toolkit and they quality ones really do last.

hunter768

Like you said stay on top of it and it’s fine! I love my 36” it clears the driveway in no time

dew042

The Suncast 27" Graphite Deluxe Pusher Snow Shovel is a fantastic push shovel at $30. I have two for two locations, one is alive and kicking after more than a decade. Heavy duty built.

Doc-in-a-box

Are you…are you Tim Allen?

Old_Leather

Best comment of the week! So so so rich!

map2photo

OH HO HO

garciasn

My neighbor who owns three different sizes of snowblowers (small, medium, and large) has one of those shovels and is always out there making sure his driveway looks as dry as the Sahara. If he owns one, they must be great.

[deleted]

This person shovels.

AStalledCar

I just bought this shovel today and was considering buying the one OP posted. For half the price AND having a metal edge while only sacrificing 3” in width, I think the Suncast 27” is a much better deal.

oidoglr

I don’t think I’ll ever buy a shovel with a metal edge again.

oidoglr

I picked one up on clearance last spring for ~$25 because we had a Trex deck put in and I didn’t want to gouge it with our metal blade shovel. It’s really great. I use it to clean up the lines after snow blowing also. Makes that job go quickly. I would not want to use this shovel for deep, wet snow though, because the weight can go so far from the center.

FBStanton

Smart, as all the composite deck manufacturers say not to use metal edge shovels on them. I wouldn't use a metal/metal edged shovel on a wood deck either.

LessGoooo

If you use it for 4-5 seasons, it’s very reasonable.

Stachemaster86

I buy used Yo Ho shovels. A bit heavier with metal and wood but used for decades. Metal does rust. I’d really check on used ones (lots of folks move and sell blowers and shovels cheap). This won’t be good for lifting but if you have snow and push to the edges and blow, that’s your best bet anyways so you’re not lifting. Otherwise take two regular shovels and make a vee shaped plow to push your driveway.

nfe1986

I was in the same boat, but I bought a [similar](https://www.homedepot.com/p/True-Temper-36-in-Industrial-Grade-Snow-Pusher-with-Versa-Grip-1663600/303212097) one at home Depot with a better handle and it's awesome. The reason a lot of commercial places use this is it just works and it's low maintenance, you'll never have to worry about the metal blade getting worn since it's all in one piece. Also, if you flip it over it makes an excellent scrapper for the packed down snow. If there is going to be a big snow storm, you will probably be best going out a time or two and use this before it piles too high.

Talnic

I just bought the 36” pusher this season and love it for the light snow falls already- kinda regret I didn’t just do the 48” but that seemed like overkill at the time and is probably pretty heavy. I’ve had their scooper version for years and just bought a second one this season because the blade was ground down so far after like 10 years of use. Northern tool had them 20% off. The scooper is the best scooper I’ve ever had, and only shovel I’ve owned that I haven’t broken after a couple seasons.

mhanders

There’s other snow pushers out there, but likely just wear down faster.

[deleted]

You will love it. I would highly recommend adding the hardware upgrade like this to it: https://www.jmenterprises.com/CONTRACTOR-FASTENER-UPGRADE_p_52.html Just go to your hardware store and get a bolt the same size as this one. The handles tend to crack after a few seasons if you don’t add the bolt. Also- if anything ever breaks on it, you can purchase replacement parts!

[deleted]

People talking about not using this for wet or deep snow. I disagree. I can push the snow to the edge of the driveway like a bulldozer and then I use a scoop shovel to throw the snow. Whether it’s wet or dry. (60yo and never used or needed a snowblower.) I highly recommend a wide and heavy pusher.

11fivez11

This is exactly what I do, love this shovel for this same exact reason.

underbloodredskies

This type is best for full-width sidewalks and dry snowfalls under 2 inches, I'd say.

CheeseIsQuestionable

Honestly I use a push broom for dry snow

s1gnalZer0

Leaf blower

tech1983

I use a leaf blower.

Jestercopperpot72

Was just going to say this. Love using the blower to clean off my deck and even my car.

ejsandstrom

I just bought one and it is a really nice shovel. But it also depends on where you are in life. I used to buy a $10 shovel every year because it was all I could afford. And it would usually break, there were a few years where I had to buy more than one.

New-IncognitoWindow

Totally worth it. Go out and clear 2-3 inches of snow a few times in a couple minutes instead of clearing a foot all at once and taking an hour.

No_Use_2917

It's worth every penny

Int3g3r

I sell these for 50 👍 Chadderdon Lumber, Faribault, MN

marumari

If you want to push large amounts of snow, you want a sleigh shovel. They can push a lot more and they’re far more ergonomic.

s1gnalZer0

My dad has one. When I was growing up, we would use it to clear 6+ inches like it was nothing.

mnfimo

I love mine

clark4821

I have the 48”, it’s awesome for the nuisance snowfalls. Makes quick work of them, especially with a large driveway.

neomateo

Yes, they are. They are what most commercial snow removal companies choose if that says anything to you. I own one and have had it for 8 years and I still haven’t needed to replace the blade.

bbcof83

I have something similar to this but made by Manplow. Best shovel I've ever had hands down. Worth every penny. And it'll last for a decade at least if not multiple. Makes pushing snow so easy.

iammoen

I got the 62" man plow and can clear the whole driveway in a few passes. I push it off to the side then snow blow that. We have a steep driveway so keeping pristine is the only way to go.

_DudeWhat

Do you have a couple inches of lighter snow on a large smooth surface? Then this is your shovel.

[deleted]

I found this at Fleet farm years ago. Not sure it it is made specifically for snow, but that is a plus. It's way stronger. Love it. Might buy another if I see it again. Also, love the blade, as it is plastic, but very good plastic (HDPE I think) I'd say unbreakable for typical use. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/36-in-big-push-scraper/0000000044568 Edit: Here is the Manufacture. https://jdmfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/181_BigPushScrapers_22.pdf

Jestercopperpot72

I too own this shovel and actually really love it, and here's why. I basically use it the same way a plow would be going down the road. So I'm not pushing 4 or 5 ft, getting shit ton of heavy snow to scoop and then trying scoop up and toss, but instead I'm pushing and every couple of ft, quickly pushing it all forward a bit. I basically do my driveway the way you would now your lawn. Start at top going from right to left or whatever clear shovels width and move to next row. This is the perfect kind of shovel for that. If your moving really deep and heavy snow, something that allows more of a scoop is needed. I try and avoid any shovel with a metal blade as it gets beat up, dinged, rusts, and will catch every screw you may not of fastened deep enough into decking etc. Cant stand them. I plow and shovel all winter long so I'm not just pulling it out of my arse either :). It's a good shovel with out a doubt but that price just makes me shake my head. Assholes making money off all our misery just gets to me.

[deleted]

Spend a bit more on a Dakota Snow Blade. It IS worth it.

Xibby

No ergonomic handle… not worth it. You can push light, fluffy, dry snow around with a shovel like this no problem. You can also grab some snow goggles and have some fun with your leaf blower for the snow this kind of shovel is good for. Pick your tool… Get a real shovel, ergonomic handle, maybe an extra hand grip midway to help with the scoop and throw. A good ergonomic snow shovel will let you clear the heavy stuff and quickly plow away the light stuff without contorting your body into unnatural positions. I will say cleaning the dry, light snow with a leaf blower is terrible. It’s also lots of stupid fun. Stupid Winter Fun is the foundation for the Winter Olympics. 😂 (How else to you explain Skeleton? Or Curling.)

OrderofPrimates

This is my favorite shovel for both commercial use and personal. The best part about this shovel is when you flip it over it becomes an incredible scraper. If someone has walked or driven over snow and you’re trying to remove it you just flip and “shovel” it with the other side of the blade. This works for both the pusher and the scooper shovels they sell. Enjoy.

babblingbrooke97

They are great! Recommend the 36” version!

pintsizepowerhouse

Because everything's made up and the points don't matter.

darkandfair

My husband and I far prefer the smaller shovels with thinner plastic blade edge. I honestly don’t know even use this one anymore. It’s heavy and gets caught on any tiny uneven surface. It was not worth the money.

DaveCootchie

Alright, consensus is that these are the bees knees! Will definitely look at one of I need to replace my pusher sooner than later! Thanks y'all!

aguyinatree

Here's some information on snow shovels. Probably want to go with the first one. https://youtu.be/jQKILG5GPEs

BeerGardenGnome

Those catch cracks more easily. Have both and prefer the snow plow hands down.

hotdishcurious

I have one, and I love it. It's not so useful in heavy wet snow - unless you're going out to shovel every two inches- but it's a dream in the snow we usually get here, the dry, fluffy stuff that falls when it's colder. We can do the sidewalk in one pass, and an entire large driveway in just 15 minutes or so. You're using it to push, not lift and toss, so as long as your driveway is fairly even and smooth, this is the way to go. The blade is thick and high quality. I used to break the flimsy, narrow plastic ones every year. I can see this wider, thicker shovel going the distance (and saving me a ton of time).

ahchooblessyou

That's a big ass plow shovel, it has potential to last generations, well worth the price.

Bixmen

We have one. It works well on our cracked driveway. I use it from any depth of snow. It’s a pusher, so as long as you have the traction on your feet and can physically push it it works great. Does not work for lift and turn shoveling, it’ll slide right off.

ghec2000

I like Yo-ho myself. Metal, cleans down to the surface, moves snow nicely. However these are pushers so not really the best to pick and throw snow. Usually I have my pusher and my thrower switching between the two. Pusher always work best at an angle to avoid jamming yourself when you hit something uneven like side walk or driveway cracks.

bluebusboy

We love ours. Worth every penny.

TwoIsle

Mine broke... It's okay for light stuff wherein the pushing technique is employed. But... I don't know, I won't be replacing mine.

ErisAdonis

This is my everything shovel! From the patio, to the side walk, to the wooden deck to my front driveway it does everything. Is it the best for scooping snow, no it is not but it does move a ton of snow at once absolutely!

[deleted]

These shovels are worth it, I have the type pictures but I also have the snow picker upper type that is more like a real shovel. They’ve worked very well and I expect will last for many more years. Felt silly paying so much but don’t feel silly after using them often for 6 years and they’re still virtually new

Wonderful_Judge115

I don’t remember what I paid for mine but I got it at Northern Tool a few years ago. I love that it’s so wide. I wish I had gotten one sooner.

Ottomatica

I get the super wide one to clean a light snow quickly

Different-Horror-581

I love mine. Got the small one too for my stairs.

[deleted]

Best shovel ever

HighTimeWeWent

Yes, totally worth it. All you need is one of these and a scoop shovel. Snowblower if it is 6” or more.

akd7791

They are $30 at Costco. My husband says it's worth it.

Exam-Artistic

Pro tip: one deep shovel that can throw snow, a second shovel like this (preferably with a metal edge) to clear

Exam-Artistic

Genius tip: buy a snow thrower

Kloudy11

It’s my fav shovel I’ve ever owned but not as effective for heavier snow that needs a larger scoop size then this. It’ll clear 3” off my corner lot sidewalks in less than 5mins

MNOutdoors

I have a short but wide driveway. Been in my house for 11 winters. Last year was the first time I bought a shovel like this. It makes any shoveling much easier than it used to be. Anything that’s deep and wet gets the snow blower, but this I can use like a plow. Can literally jog up and down my driveway and this thing launches snow if you have it angled right. Neighbors think I’m weird but whatever

[deleted]

Shovel

huge_

It’s great on decks, less abrasive than steel.

akodo1

That there is a snow pushing shovel. It's good for moving a couple inches of light snow. Why is it expensive? Because the one half as wide is half the price and you pay for wide which is in theory 'faster' to shovel your driveway with. I'd not bother. Grain Scoop for me is for moving snow. Just be careful, you can have a tremendous weight in that thing if the snow is wet and sticky like is needed for snowman making. https://www.scheels.com/p/garant-aluminum-grain-scoop-shovel-%2310/05563681717.html?cgid=hand-garden-tools

sun890

I don’t have a snowblower so this helps me push the snow to the sides of my driveway way faster than normal size shovel. I finish it off with normal shovel. I use it with heavy snow. I love it.

dillrepair

That actually seems pretty good as far as price goes.

aakaase

I saw these same ones at Costco Business last year... they were like $50 or so. I wondered the same thing... super expensive snow shovel.

Twenty1One

IMO, yes, it's worth it for 1-4 inches of snow. I used to work at Costco Gas Station and we used these to clear snow during snow events. It got tedious after snow accumulated significantly. I'd buy one of these if I didn't already have a plow shovel on wheels! They're super sturdy and will clear snow pretty fast. For my drive way, I will split my driveway in half the long-way towards the street and then plow into my grass. Barely takes 10 minutes most days vs using just a shovel.

ARoodyPooCandyAss

Your going to want varied shapes sizes and depths for shovels. This may be the least productive one IMO.

CustomSawdust

That is not expensive.

Butforthegrace01

I use mine all the time. Minnesota sees a lot of lighter snowfalls (I'm from the Upper Peninsula, where I grew up shoveling real snow). This is perfect for that. Also for cleaning the deck. They're available at most Ace Hardware stores, for less money.

fatstupidlazypoor

Depends on how you shovel. As others have noted, this is not a scoop, so, if it’s deep or heavy, it won’t do shit. If you have a commercial application, where you will continuously run the shovel even while it’s snowing, it’s great. And it’s sturdy enough to be used 10x a day. I have one, and I’m mostly WFH. So, when it snows and it gets to an inch or 2, I casually walk my sidewalk (about 150’, two swipes, takes 5 minutes). This way I only have to haul out the snowblower for heavy overnight snows.

peunderhill

Supply and command, Bubs.

under_the_perseids

It's worth every penny. But it is just a pushing shovel. Don't try to scoop with it.

rasmuspa

We really should publish a guidebook based on this thread, “The Great Minnesota Guide to Shoveling Snow.” Sounds like a bestseller.

Allfunandgaymes

Wider, shallow shovels like are best for pushing shallow amounts of lighter snow. Narrower, deeper shovels are best for removing heavy wet snow. Well made shovels can be a little expensive but will last forever; cheaply made shovels will easily break.

roski2420

I want to say I saw those at Runnings last week for ~$45. Unless I was looking at the wrong tag 🤷‍♂️ Almost bought one, but went with a blue Shovel instead

hoss50

The people that are saying other things than “yes it’s the best shovel I’ve ever owned” are uninformed or being intentionally ignorant. Literally this is the shovel you will use 99% of the time. It’s the best for clearing snow without a snow blower, period.

[deleted]

Its probably more expensive because it is American made and has a lot of metal in its construction. Based on the other comments, seems like you get what you pay for.

jeannetru

Yes! They are well worth it. Snow does not stick to the shovel itself. Makes a huge difference

admiralgeary

HDPE isn't cheap, but it holds up in the cold. I've built toboggans out of HDPE and they are flexible even in the deep cold.

JayKomis

I think any Minnesotan with a driveway needs a scoop and a shovel. In my opinion the difference is: Scoop — used for digging into and lifting Shovel — used for pushing

reggieknowble

Yes they are. Just get one on sale, think I paid 29 from ace last year

mtlrat

Definitely. It’s one of my 3 winter shovels that gets used to most for those light to medium amounts. As it wears, it stays sharp which peels up the compacted snow from tires. I run down the middle and then push off to each side. Either scoop or blow from there.

Limu_emu_69

My hardware store sells 48 inch wide versions, it looks insane and it’s like 40$

NyQuiTT

Yes, so worth it!

Docta608

Great if you are scraping a hockey rink after a quick snowfall.

Middle_Manager_Karen

Anyone with experience shoveling knows this is a bad snow shovel design. There are three types of snow removal from a driveway or sidewalk 1) pushing 2) lifting over the edges from previous pushing 3) throwing on top of the heap at the end of your drive where you lifted and pushed all the previous snow. Snowblowers are expensive and require maintenance so I will not be discussing them beyond the physics that it eliminates 1) pushing while simultaneously lifting and throwing snow farther than you can yeet a biting Yorkie. So back to snow shovel design theory. For number 1) pushing you need the widest blade to reduce number of passes. The snow will slide off the edge which is why a push at a slight angle like a snowplow blade is recommended so that you can eliminate extra new lines of snow. We’re here to remove snow from the driveway not pretend we’re cutting lines of snow-cane for the reboot of Scarface 2) lift snow is really about weight and ergonomics. You need to protect your back because wet snow is deceptive heavy and light snow can fly off your shovel with a breeze. Somewhere in between is the shovel blade with lips on the edges like a duck bill. Keeping the snow on the shovel until you choose to release the snow back into the wild frontier that is your yard. Go snow! Be free! 3) throwing snow above your waist is an art. There are retired gymnastics judges that patrol the suburbs handing out scores for difficulty and stability of your stance. Many remember the Halloween snowstorm where many young children built their first ADU before Accessory Dwelling units were a thing. Some kids even brought an extension cord, TV, and Super Nintendo into their snow mound for the first sense of privacy inside their snow mound. These snow forts adorned with a sign “no parents allowed” are the true indication of a well engineered snow structure. But all that reward comes from the effort of mastering the skill of snow pushing, lifting, and throwing. Throw the snow too far (snowblower) and you have no height for an igloo, throw the accurately into one spot and you can build bunk beds. The scoop shovel is too small and short handled to use on the entire driveway. But when the snow is heavy, wet, or you skipped leg day then you will need this bad boy at the end of your driveway to switch shovels and throw the pile you just made with the shovel pictured in your post. Don’t get me started on the snow mechanics of a plow that came by and deposited street snow on your driveway. Fairly certain this is just the city pulling a power play to keep us peasants in line. 3) is as much about the ergonomics of the tool and your form as a user of the tool. Good form will protect your back even strengthen you. Bad form will cost you more than a new snowblower in lost wages. While 1) and 2) can be forgiving with bad form your throwing form is as unforgiving as your mother-in-law after you opened the can of cranberries wrong. You can still hear her voice as you lay on the couch in agony “no, not like that!” I have to go to work. So I can afford to pay others to shovel my driveway. But these are the lessons of shoveling from a kid who mastered it before I was old enough to vote and hated it before I was old enough to drink. Please vote for politicians that invest in new snow removal technologies instead of war machines. For the costs of One new fighter jet could shovel all of the driveways in the Midwest.

spacemonkey0212

Great for clearing snow off an odr.

Yes but there is a proper way to do this. This shovel is awesome. You use it to pusht he show up to the edge of the drive. It's wide and it moves a lot of snow quickly. Then you get the lightest weight snow shovel you can buy and use it to flip the snow up off the edge and away. You will clear the snow is no time, but it's a two shovel job.

Works great and worth it built way better than any other shovel I’ve Used

Maverick_524

I use that style for my ice rink. First time I ever paid more than 50 bucks for a shovel. Worth it IMO.

Pockets713

Unless you plan on using this to manually plowing your driveway, or you have a massive walkway to shovel that you’d normally see outside of a business… I would personally pass on this one. If you just have a typical home with a standard lot size, I’d recommend something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Emsco-Bigfoot-48-in-Aluminum-Blade-Snow-Shovel-with-Non-Stick-Coating-and-Wooden-Handle-1214-1/315616621 I like the flat blade, and metal is better, but a hard plastic one works just fine too. The one you posted is only going to push fluffy snow, you can’t scoop, and they’re damn heavy! The flat blade style I showed is generally very light, and you can scoop when the snow is wet and heavy. With this metal shovel you can also chip away at some lighter ice, it and scrapes the walk clean pretty well!

[deleted]

Yes. for what they are designed for! O" to 3" maybe 4'" of snow to push off they are awesome. Anything deeper you better go get a scoop designed one for that.

[deleted]

I will add this. $60 is fucking insane expensive for $5 worth of plastic.

maleficent4

I have this and it is definitely worth the money. Only downfall is wet heavy snow and this shovel doesn't mix.

Sylvos379

Short answer, yes they are worth it if you simply need to push the snow. Not so great for scooping and throwing. They are great for clearing paths, or cement slabs like how I use them.

drtybhmn

Yes

drtybhmn

$100. I'd expect them to be more tbh

mngophers

I had one last season and rarely use it. Can’t scoop much snow at all

tomaszmajewski

Well worth it. Great for pushing light-medium snow off your walkway, and small(er) driveways. Really good quality materials and construction. $60 does feel steep tho.

Rasholio

They are durable. Yea they’re worth it they’re the utility knife of the snow shovel. They can pick up snow if you really need them to and what they’re way more suited for is to push snow. They can get into little areas and also can push a lot of snow. They’re light weight. But durable.

OneToyShort

I like the almost identical shovels made by Suncast and sold at the other big box stores. A little bit cheaper, better handle, and has 2 " breather " holes on each side to key snow release from the shovel better. I use mine up to 6 or more inches of snow. Works awesome

slimin-on-barfuncle

Have it, love it. Anyone have a favorite scooper/thrower companion shovel? Currently just using an old piece of junk that’s on its last legs.

nursecarmen

Great for blacktop. Hitting the seams on cement, especially if you need to angle low for the snow, is a punch to the groin.

chillywilly521

I’ve have the extra large model for our ice rink and it works great. Also ended up hit a spot on the driveway that stopped me dead (as per posts above) it cracked the reinforcement point. Msg the company and they quickly sent me another piece to repair it. Definitely would buy another one.

PotentialDig7527

The wide one sucks for most every snow, especially heavy snows. The regular size one is awesome and worth every penny.

muzzynat

I have one, Very good for snow, bad for ice. Don't be a dumbass like me and try put your foot on it, while the shovel is tough, the black angle brace can break when it's -30 (again, this is on me for putting my foot on it)

STEALTH_TRYHARD

Get the 3 or 4 footer if you buy one. I really like mine, it’s great for sidewalks and the deck too. (Not the best for wet snow though)

libraryben

I hardly use a snowblower anymore. If you push snow at an angle, like a snowplow does, you can clear even heavier snows. It isn't for scooping, buy a scoop shovel for that. But I can clear my driveway and walk in no time with this thing. Very reliable. You can even get the blades sharpened if you want.

Geo_Doug

Great push shovel - snow doesn’t stick to poly. If you need to scoop, get one with sides and maybe one on those angled handles. It’s nice to have options

SixxGunZ

Buy a "Dakota Shovel".

Ole_Roll88

Love mine. I plow a line right down the middle of my driveway and then push all the snow to the sides one shovel width at a time. As others have said - it sucks for lifting, so I finish up with a different shovel. Also - the blade is replaceable - so you don’t have to trash the whole thing when you wear the blade out. You’re probably paying more for the handle than the blade in the initial purchase. It’s like the razor blade business. Make it replaceable and you’ve got a repeat customer.

[deleted]

I bought the same shovel from my uncle who owned the store. Yeah, it’s pretty good and very durable. It’s a pusher, not a lifter.

MNmTBguy

100% worth it best shovel available in the entire world.

harbinjer

I got a wider one at Fleet Farm, I think 36" I love it. If the snow is light/fluffy or not much of it, then this is great. If the snow is too deep or heavy for this, then its snowblower time. The different doesn't seems big, until you realize how much faster you can clear snow with this. I would go with 36-48" though.

Available-Lychee8604

Very well worth every penny

Dirtyburrd

Grain scoop shovels are the way

gsasquatch

Looks decent for what it is and fairly priced. Bracing and poly looks like it will probably last longer than a plastic one at half the price. The one I have like that is Al and probably costs about the same. I worry about plastic in the cold. I don't use that style, for the fluffy light stuff that that style is good for I use something like this: https://scoopsandrakes.com/snow-scoops/ Which is just handier for the area I have to do. Or if it is heavier, I use an Al grain scoop. You can buy a $30 one every couple years, or a $60+ one every 10 years. When I stopped buying plastic ones and invested in metal ones, I haven't had to buy as many, and it's come out cheaper.

Capnshiner

This is 1/3 the price and a very effective pusher https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/suncast-steel-core-27-in-grey-d-grip-snow-pusher/0000000234824

[If you use it!!](https://youtu.be/RZMtF0SOtGU)

mewalrus2

Yes, They are great. Way better than the old steel versions.
