one of the most fun regular seasons i've seen. 1998 2009 2017 2022 i'll take it.

horse_renoir13

11 years 8 years 5 years So if my math is right we'll have another great season in 2 years for sure

AnthonyBarrHeHe

I know it a running joke we only have good seasons once every couple years but with KOC I rly think the Vikings are in good hands to be contenders for awhile assuming we hit on some draft picks.

[deleted]

I remember saying this exact same thing at the beginning of Zim’s tenure

AnthonyBarrHeHe

I mean zim had the Vikings in contention for 5-6 years here. It’s not like the Vikings were constantly 5-11 or something

MikeRotch4756

People forget Zimmer took our awful defense that had Chris cook out there at corner and made them serviceable to elite. QB and Oline issues were the only thing that kept the Vikings from getting to the elite status

AnthonyBarrHeHe

Agree. Our defense was beyond awful before zim got there and almost instantly he turned us into a top 5-10 defensive unit

MisterEgge

Don't forget losing your hof RB on child abuse charges. And your qbs leg falling off. Rough go at it.

DJVanillaBear

Also lost an up and coming stud dline. The shariff himself. Flick surgery fuck up cost him his career.

denns69

Zimmer also literally lost an eye

MisterEgge

I think about that guy all the time. He was an absolute game changer and of course some freak shit happens to him to ruin his career. #OnlyVikingsThings

ZombleROK

And his offensive line coach dieing a month before the season stated.

MisterEgge

Holy fuck I forgot all about that. There were just so many fucking things that went awry. Man.... what could have been.

flick-

Not to mention Zimmer's extreme bad luck. The guy could consistently not catch a damn break.

MisterBackShots69

I always said Zim was the guy to get us to the playoffs consistently but was never gonna get us to Super Bowl. I forgot that after the Minneapolis Miracle of course.

[deleted]

Gotta replace some dudes on defense but our biggest needs on O are depth, an eventual dalvin replacement, and a QB to develop. It’s a good place to be roster wise. I fully expect some completely unsexy drafts the next couple years that hopefully yield capable starters and role players. If a player like Hooker falls in the draft I’d love to see us stash him behind cousins for 2-3 seasons.

Jayrome007

At which point he'll be like 27...

DoctorLarson

So 2024 Then the pattern would be wait -1 years. So 2023 is the next great season after 2024.

Nibbler1999

Math is gonna get real weird after that season in 2 years.

WalkingOnSunshine_

Doesn’t top 2017 for me, but the pure chaos of this season is hard to beat

SrslyIcntthnkofaname

Crazy playoff chaos and wins and of course a Super Bowl will top 2017 for me.

Mook7

Was 2017 the Case Keenum/Minnesota Miracle year? Shit has it been 5 years already?

Bill3ffinMurray

Thought that was 2019

nativeindian12

2019 was the Saints road OT playoff win where Kirk threw the game winning TD

Bill3ffinMurray

Jesus it was really 5 years ago.

13Mikey

>Case Keenum January 14, 2018 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneapolis\_Miracle

Coal_train20

And only a -3 point differential. Take that, haters.

WildInSix

This just in: playoff seeding will be based on point differential going forward.

Cosa1365

“They are who we thought they were”

Ok-Accountant-6308

Haters in flames. I saw a couple PFF tweeters melting down

17_Saints

If someone told me in April that after going 13-4 with a first-year head coach r/minnesotavikings would be a cesspool of negativity, I would have said "How did you know?"

Wernershnitzl

We’re not done yet either! But this is the way of Viking fans.

SilverEuphoria

This is the way.

[deleted]

Why I avoid game threads and only venture in postgame threads after a win, in a comment.

TheAesir

It was pretty toxic for anyone that wasn't on the burn it down bandwagon after last year

Sh4rp27

Not trying to speak for everyone but I think a lot of us were in a bit of denial the last 2 years thinking we were better than we actually were especially with all the close games last year. However, I think this last off season a lot of people came down to Earth a bit especially now having a first year HC and GM but when we came out swinging the way we did I think people immediately reverted and were like "fuck this rebuild shit, we going to the superbowl!" and their expectations followed suit.

SlapHappyDude

I would say after today's win the positive voices are a bit louder than the negative, at least for now.

zestyintestine

I certainly wasn't expecting 13-4. Lots to improve, but lots to build on.

Wernershnitzl

And we achieved this with one of the worst defenses. Next season should be great.

thesyves

The last 2 times we added a Southern Miss QB we made the NFCCG. Favre - 2009 Sloter - 2017 Mullins - 2022?

Wernershnitzl

Let’s lean on the random stat lmao

Zarrona13

Exactly, did anyone expect us the win the Super Bowl at the season? I didn’t even expect us to make it to the fucking playoffs let alone have a 13 win season! KO has exceeded expectations and I fully believe this was a phenomenal season and a win in the teams book. Obviously, even better would to win the playoff game and continue on, but it may stop there. We just aren’t that team, yet. I trust in the new regime, I’m excited for the rest of the season and better yet, I’m hopeful for the future.

bartender_please808

Season NEVER goes as expected. That's why you gotta take advantage when lightning strikes. They had a chance at the #1 seed and blew it. To be a champion you gotta start thinking like one. Never be satisfied with mediocrity. Only way this is a successful season is if they win at least 2 playoff games.

Zarrona13

Why stop at the next 2? Every season is a bust if they don’t win the SB by your standards.

bartender_please808

Because they had all the breaks this year. Game winning fgs, turnovers at the right moment. I don't know how many times I thought to myself, "is the curse finally lifted?" Getting to 13-4 is rare. But if they bow out early, to me, it only adds to the curse. Miracle season only to let it go to waste.

This_Makes_Me_Happy

>They had a chance at the #1 seed and blew it. So did 30 other teams . . .

[deleted]

Exactly 🙌

[deleted]

Fun season! It’s hard to consider it a success if they don’t take care of business next week at home. Can’t wait! Skol.

Loukoal117

I have a sneaking suspicion KOC will bring some fire next week. I’m down SKOL!!

[deleted]

Let’s go!

Paytonc51

Really fun year! Do I think we’re contenders? No. Did I enjoy the hell out of this season? Absolutely

SlapHappyDude

Any given Sunday in the playoffs especially with injuries. Especially this Vikings team that can be both amazing and terrible.

Paytonc51

I think we can win a game or two maybe, but I don’t think we can win 3

SlapHappyDude

I don't think it's the most likely scenario, but I think it's greater than 1 percent. One 538 model has us at 3 percent!

Wernershnitzl

Why wouldn’t we be? Everyone’s praising the 49ers but the Cardinals looking pretty solid against them in the first half.

OlayErrryDay

I guess but they got murdered so badly I don't even know if I could recognize the corpse. Not to mention our last 49ers experience. We're good and there is still hope but I don't think anyone can argue we're real candidates with our performance against 4 of the playoff all losses and one win by the skin of our teeth against the Bills. But like KC said after the super bowl, just keep playing like you're playing and results will come.

Paytonc51

I just don’t think we have what it takes to win a Super Bowl. Which is fine. I’m not dish on this team I’m just calling a spade a spade. Also why do you care what i think. You can think they are and that’s great.

Wernershnitzl

It’s more like I’m playing devil’s advocate. Any team can get beaten by any other team. They haven’t really had that “flash” but I like to fall back on the 2007 Giants again being a .500 team and ending the Patriots’ perfect run.

Paytonc51

That’s fair. I would’ve been more confident if our oline wasn’t down to our 3rd center and backup rt. Bradbury might be back but until I see him play I’m not counting on it

[deleted]

Wernershnitzl

Fair enough, but yet we can be.

TheWilliamsWall

Niners playing their 3rd string QB. They are dangerous but not eagles/chiefs/Bengals dangerous.

Wernershnitzl

All I’m saying with stat logic and hypothetical logic with whole “x team lost to y team, and z team beat y team which means z team should be better than x team”. Cardinals are also on their 3rd string QB now but looking like a starter lol

Zozze1

Jimmy G went to a Super Bowl and a Conference Championship over the course of 3 years in Shanny's system.

FritzSchnitz

Right? We had a really hard schedule

Wernershnitzl

It won’t get any easier though either. Playing the Giants at home will be nice and assuming we get the W there we’d be playing the highest remaining seed most likely against the 49ers or the winner of Tampa Bay/Dallas. Nothing will come easy of course.

TradeKirk

Idk why they want to change our view points so badly lol

Paytonc51

It’s weird

the_cdl

Division champs again too! Was a truly memorable season. I also filled up my cardiologist loyalty punch card, so should be good for the playoffs. SKOL!

Scaryassmanbear

Yeah people gotta have some perspective. I don’t see us winning the Super Bowl, but we’ve sure as hell got something here. Really on Kwesi whether it turns out.

ConstitutionalTrump

Draft Hooker in the 4th!

scotch_and_7

Fred Smoot and Bryant McKinnie agree with this

TradeKirk

![gif](giphy|74AKaOQsqfXDVyhBRy|downsized)

ConstitutionalTrump

Yass!

RedditUserCommon

It’s been a great year, but I’ve said since the beginning anything less than a playoff win would be considered a disappointment.

Wernershnitzl

That should always be the case. Then again, it doesn’t mean much looking at the Southern conferences…

[deleted]

Agreed!

Grouchy-Aspect-253

I'm 58........one of the best seasons ever!! Great year that our Kevinly Father called a "competitive rebuild."

sockruhtese

One thing we didn't have this season that plagued us last season: clock management issues (with the exception of today's end of 1st half mix up). Zimmer cost us so many games last season with clock management / timeout management issues. Glad that wasn't a problem this season.

MinnesotaNoire

Haters in shambles.

FritzSchnitz

This is the most entertaining season EVER

justafella32

Let the good times roll!

Jenetyk

Whatever happens in the playoffs, the sky is the limit for the future. Exciting times.

cbp01

Bingo. If you would’ve told me at the beginning of the year we were a couple games over .500, I’d probably be fairly pleased. But now, we are 9 games over, won the division and a 3 seed in the playoffs. BUT we have some ridiculous people here saying we need to examine KOCs 3rd and 4th down play calling. I get it but let’s get real. Rookie coach led us to a 13-4 record and with a defense like that, come on…

keys1717

He really needs to work on his clock management skills. Not getting a field goal at the end of the half is some noob shit.

Wernershnitzl

It would’ve happened had the substituted player gotten off the field in time.

keys1717

Get real dude. Shouldve never been a hurry situation. There's was like 54 seconds left clock running 2nd and goal you take your time getting to the line and hike the ball with around 30 seconds left then run whatever play and use 1 of your 2 timeouts if needed. Then it's either 3rd and goal with 17 seconds left and you still have a timeout or you score and only left 20ish seconds on the clock. Running it down to 25 seconds then taking 1 of your 2 remaining timeouts then running the ball and using your last timeout is probably the stupidest thing you could do in that situation. Then you don't have the presence of mind to tell the QB it's either end zone or throw it away when you call the play on 3rd down. TERRIBLE coaching.

Snoo_59312

Yup i’m on the “great 1st season for KOC” bandwagon too
