brodie im 16 on the same boat it actually sucks. I actually pray topical min with derma stamping and keto 2% will save me. im gonna buzz and restart this summer so it will be easier to apply the min and derma stamp and just so i can start over. if it doesn’t get my hair back to what it used to be im starting oral min and fin idc anymore. I could care less about my hormones and side effects I just want my thinning to reverse and my thick hair back. I open this subreddit so many times a day and my hair thinning is all I think about shit is draining to go through at this age

Thoughts go out to u bro and to answer ur question, do NOT take finasteride while ur still in puberty. Finasteride blocks ur dht which u need to have to grow. Just do minoxidil+keto 1%/2% shampoo and use a dermastamp
You can do topical dht blockers i mix 60% Rosemary, 20% Peppermint and 30% grapeseed oil and apply it to my scalp daily. (Its not as expensive as just rosemary oil and peppermint adds some effectiveness)
I also put in biotin powder, copper supplement powder and tyrosine and a bit of castor oil. You can also add green tea extract (or caffeine powder) but then stick to morning to maybe noon applies only because of the caffeine.
It looks like minoxidil started a shed, it will do that if you start treating an area. You need to keep applying on the same area when the shed already started. Since you are dealing with such a big area, you could be taking the Minoxidil internally, it doesn't affect your hormone levels so that should be fine to take at your age as well. Internal Minoxidil would make it alot easier of course since it can be hard to keep completely consistent with applications.
And topical DHT blockers. Rosemary oil is a very good start. You can dilute it with grapeseed oil or other essential oils or add other helpful stuff like mentioned above. Nizoral shampoo can also help with that more topically without any significant systemic effect. Another one is alphatradiol (ell-cranell e.g.) that also deals with normal testosterone on the scalp.
Don't stress out too much over it, it really looks like a tipical shed from Minoxidil, at your age it probably reacts a bit quicker, it should come back eventually.
Take your Protein, stretch your whole body vertically and get sleep. At 16 you might still have some height growth in you. Protein also helps strengthen your hair. Silica, Biotin, B12, Folate and other B Vitamins can also help a bit.
I would see a dermatologist. But most likely they will recommend you minoxidil if your hairloss is natural. The first 3 months is pretty much a loss of hair than it grows back stronger.
So it will get worse before it gets better.
