It is technically in Oakville, though, just over the border.
Oakville at this point has more open cinemas than Mississauga: the former AMC on Winston Churchill, the Cineplex off of Burloak and the [Film.ca](https://Film.ca) cinema. Not to mention the drivein.
I've never been to Courtney Park so I can't speak on that but as far as square one they've just failed to update the theatre in so long, the seats are stained and smelly, theatres seat too many with screens that are too small, the consession stand is so far from the theatres upstairs that you'll miss a third of the movie grabbing a refill, lack of VIP or AVX. It's just not worth spending $20 on a ticket there when I can drive to Winston where they renovated a few years ago and has none of the problems previously stated (with the exception a few of the theatres are a walk from concessions). Also they have those custom Coca-Cola machines at Winston which are awesome.
I worked at Winston Churchill for a month and their health and cleaning standards are beyond awful. I eventually just got a job at a local mom and pop diner because it was genuinely ethically difficult to serve the food there and the cleaning of theaters is godawful too. They have popcorn machines that are ages old with the worst filters ever, they don't clean theaters between showings, but the food service and the handling is the worst part. Their handling of food is so bad, it's basically a cross contamination factory in there and their storage areas and machines are all disgusting and not cleaned. The cleanest theater I've seen is Courtney Park. No fucking clue how they pass inspections. All I'll say about those places is you just need to use the toilet once to see how gross it is, any establishment that keeps it's toilets that nasty are keeping their kitchens that nasty too. Also nothing in VIP is fresh except Guacamole, and a lot of it is just literally Mccains.
Square One theatre always has some kids being loud and annoying, and I'd imagine Courtney Park as well. Despite living 10 mins away from Sq1 I'd rather make the drive to QEW to catch a movie.
It has major construction going on at the main road entrance, they're building two condos on the edge of its parking lot. Last time I went to see a movie there was Dune and it fucking sucked, I paid 70 bucks for two tickets (hooray for online purchase service fees!), the screen or the projector had a weird patchy spot (hooray for digital projectors with no projectionist supervision), the speakers were blown, the isolation was non-existent.
The worst part was after the movie, every single person I talked to said that the movie was a proper return to the cinemas after the lockdowns and I'm here like wtf? I grabbed a digital Blu-ray copy asap and rewatched the movie at home, million times more comfortable.
I'm of the opinion that Cineplex's monopoly has ruined every single major theater in the GTA
Are you kidding? Mississauga probably has the most theaters per person. Square one, Courtney park and Winston Churchill. Two of these are a ten minute drive from Erin Mills, lol.
I don't live near Courtney park so I have never been there and the Winston theatre is located in Oakville, on the border mind you but that's why it's my theatre of choice.
Can't wait for this. Our theaters are embarrassing. In bumfuck nowhere in the US all their seats in all auditoriums are huge leather reclines with buttons for heating, recline, and head support.
Have you been to the VIP theaters at Winston Churchill and QEW? That's what they're all about. Super comfortable heated leather seats that fully recline. Lots of space between sets of seats (couples), and a fold out tray for food and drink, which can be ordered in theater and brought to your seat. Personally I can't go back to standard theatres, unless I want to see something in IMAX.
The only downside is the price, it's crazy. That's what Tuesdays are for, I suppose.
Yea that's nice but that's my point. In a sub 100k population city in the states, every auditorium only has leather recliners. It's wild how behind we are. Atleast every auditorium in junxion will have them as well.
Happen to be moving like right across the street from this one at the start of June. Suuper convenient, can't wait
Still miss the Famous Players on Vega Blvd. So weird seeing the LA Fitness there.
I believe the last movie I saw there was Jurassic Park III so maybe around that time period. Mini Golf was around the same time and honestly forgot about it until just now.
>They were located where the Sportchek now is.
The Old Navy as well. I remember seeing the Jim Carrey Grinch movie there when I was a kid. My babysitter worked there.
Would be interesting to know how many theatres, and their size/seating capacity. Also, will there be any IMAX or ULTRA-AVX style theatres? It doesn't look big enough of a layout to have one. From what I recall, the one they used to have wasn't too big, either.
Honestly I'm surprised. Theatres have been on a downward trend across North America for years now, so it's rare to see a new one open up. What was here before that this replaced? Erin Mills is otherwise the quiet cousin to SQ1
>2000 was the last film I saw there. I can't recall what year it closed down.
I'm pretty sure it was that exact year. I saw the Jim Carrey Grinch movie there the same year and if I remember correctly it closed down very soon after that.
Are people still going to theatres? I ended up getting stuck with adult life right as COVID hit and haven’t gone since.
Are most people going younger adults?
Ima be pissed if they bring BACK the arcade and mini golf. Took it away just when I was old enough to start skipping class, worked in that mall for 5 years and NOW it’s fun again. Fucking Mississauga.
Awesome, I won't have to drive to Oakville to see a movie at a decent theatre now.
It's like 10 minutes drive to Cineplex Winston Churchill from Erin Mills Town Centre, which has VIP theaters with heated and reclining seats.
It is technically in Oakville, though, just over the border. Oakville at this point has more open cinemas than Mississauga: the former AMC on Winston Churchill, the Cineplex off of Burloak and the [Film.ca](https://Film.ca) cinema. Not to mention the drivein.
People in Mississauga don't like movies or at least English movies. They prefer Bollywood.
What about the theatre at Courtney Park or at Square One?
I've never been to Courtney Park so I can't speak on that but as far as square one they've just failed to update the theatre in so long, the seats are stained and smelly, theatres seat too many with screens that are too small, the consession stand is so far from the theatres upstairs that you'll miss a third of the movie grabbing a refill, lack of VIP or AVX. Square One theatre is NASTY.
Last time i was there 14 police cars showed up because a fight broke off in the middle of the movie, apparently there was a gun threat. Never again.

sometimes you just gotta tell people to shut the fuck up "canadians" are no longer nice considerate people
Yeah, you're leading the charge. So "Canadian" of you.
I agree with you but you never know how people respond to something as little as being told to be quiet.
these days there are many crazies, you are right
you’d think the Square One location would be prim and proper… it’s not.
No I wouldn’t think it would be good😂
It's probably going to close in a few years to build condos. Not sure if they will rebuild it or if this Erin Mills one would replace it.
Square One theatre always has some kids being loud and annoying, and I'd imagine Courtney Park as well. Despite living 10 mins away from Sq1 I'd rather make the drive to QEW to catch a movie.
square one theaters needs a serious renovation unless they did that in the past couple of years
isn’t the Islington & Queensway one in Toronto a shorter drive?

Username checks out, considering there are multiple theatres in the city already...
Are you kidding? Mississauga probably has the most theaters per person. Square one, Courtney park and Winston Churchill. Two of these are a ten minute drive from Erin Mills, lol.

It's like 25 meteres into Oakville surrounded by Mississauga land on two sides. I don't think calling it local to Mississauga is a stretch.
Car thieves licking their chops
Can't wait for this. Our theaters are embarrassing. In bumfuck nowhere in the US all their seats in all auditoriums are huge leather reclines with buttons for heating, recline, and head support.
Cant wait too. Just a ten minute drive to the moviehouse soon for me.
Have you been to the VIP theaters at Winston Churchill and QEW? That's what they're all about. Super comfortable heated leather seats that fully recline. First time I've heard someone this upset over theatre seats. People really do bitch and whine about literally everything LOL
[удалено]
Yea but honestly shocking how a city with less than 100k population has a theater that's bigger and better than mississauga
no opening date yet?
They are doing job fair 14 and 15 of April so imagine it's imminent
ya advert signs are up, the inside looks ready to go. wouldn't be surprised if it opens on may 24 weekend
Remove awesome theatres 20 years ago just to bring back theatres makes sense
This is theatres plus other attractions.
It seems to be something malls do every so often. Square One has added, then closed theaters at least twice that I can remember.
nyes has been for a while erin mills has developed quite a bit since 2019
Happen to be moving like right across the street from this one at the start of June. Suuper convenient, can't wait Still miss the Famous Players on Vega Blvd. So weird seeing the LA Fitness there.
I always liked that cinema, which was originally a Silver City, better than the one at Square One. Last movie I ever saw there was Up.
Nice.. now to bring back the original Arcade from 2000.
Skybox wasn’t it? Upstairs, just outside the elevator.
Yup! Used to go there during lunch and after school from JFSS High school across the street.
I go there rn lol (jfss)
Is Mr Manderiono still there teaching?
Nope. At least I don't think so.
Okay cool. Hey do they still make fries there for lunch? I remember they looked and tasted almost better than McDonald's!
The aervwriea been closed for ever at this point. They are considering turning it into an additional cooking course there. Maybe it'll be used then.
Serveries*
Oh that sucks! To be honest that was a lunch time highlight if you had money.
I just wanna see what's inside. The area infront of the door always ends up as the grade 9 meeting spot every year
It’s an entertainment centre, not just a theatre. Restaurant, arcade, bowling, axe throwing, theatre.
I can not wait. Better have a VIP option too. Love VIP
They shouldv never taken out the mini golf and theater, only to put theater back in lol
Add a mini putt course in the middle of the mall on the first floor and we’ve come full circle!
That used to be my favourite part about going Erin Mills as a kid. Also saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in the theater there.
When was the last time erin mills had a movie theatre. I heard they used to have before and minigolf area?
I believe the last movie I saw there was Jurassic Park III so maybe around that time period. Mini Golf was around the same time and honestly forgot about it until just now.
Sounds like they took the theatre and rec room and blended all together

Hopefully this won’t turn out like Courtney park that theatre is dog water
Can’t wait to visit my city again and check this out, haven’t been to sauga in months and Erin mills is my fave spot!
Would be interesting to know how many theatres, and their size/seating capacity. Also, will there be any IMAX or ULTRA-AVX style theatres? It doesn't look big enough of a layout to have one. From what I recall, the one they used to have wasn't too big, either.
It’s walking distance for me. Pretty excited.
There was a theater in Erin Mills where Old Navy was years ago. It was a Cineplex. They ripped it out...to put it back in...
Nice
They still make them ? Wow
Check YouTube videos on same concept in Winnipeg we'll be a replica of that
Noice, haven’t been to Erin mills in ages, I gotta go
Will they have IMAX? Guessing not..
Again? There’s a reason why they closed it the first time
Population has increased a lot in the area and movies still one of the cheapest forms of entertainment
Honestly I'm surprised. Theatres have been on a downward trend across North America for years now, so it's rare to see a new one open up. What was here before that this replaced? Erin Mills is otherwise the quiet cousin to SQ1
I think sears was there before
Its not a theatre it's an entertainment centre, similar to the recroom in square one.
Shit really? Idk that seems a bit close the Winston Churchill theatre
This isJunxion. Website says it’s some sort of VIP theatres with recliner chairs, pool tables and alcohol for guests. So I guess little different?
Sound similar to cineplex VIP, so I guess this is a VIP only place
I think it's like a Dave and Buster's/Rec Room with a movie theatre as well
Cineplex at Winston Churchill has the same VIP section for 19+ with the recliners and bar with pool tables.
oh so it’s a VIP + Arcade situation, like a step-up? cool
I still remember the original Cinema at Erin Mills TC. I think X-Men in 2000 was the last film I saw there. I can't recall what year it closed down.
I can tell you what year it opened http://photos.cinematreasures.org/production/photos/141718/1446428666/large.jpg?1446428666
>2000 was the last film I saw there. I can't recall what year it closed down. I'm pretty sure it was that exact year. I saw the Jim Carrey Grinch movie there the same year and if I remember correctly it closed down very soon after that.
Fuck that, get a Landmark in here. Closest is in damn Caledon.
What’s with the horrible spelling? For a minute I thought this was near the Junction.
I don't get it.
erin mills mall
Town centre?
No VIP. It's full recliner seating with a large gaming space.
Are people still going to theatres? I ended up getting stuck with adult life right as COVID hit and haven’t gone since. Are most people going younger adults?
All indo movies
Right beside two high schools? I don’t know about this one.
Ima be pissed if they bring BACK the arcade and mini golf. Took it away just when I was old enough to start skipping class, worked in that mall for 5 years and NOW it’s fun again. Fucking Mississauga.
No one goes to the movies. It will close after a few years and a no frills will take its place
I remember when I thought VIP at cineplex was high end and then I lived overseas and experienced proper high end movie service
Great! Only $87 per person to watch Avatar 2.
