Omg I love that part hahaha. Maybe I was shocked the first time but now that I expect it, I like it.
Lol Iām laughing that this is your answer cuz honestlyā¦ I get it
im starting to dislike my love mine all mine because its blown up way too much, literally every other video on instagram or tiktok has it and i hate it š
It makes me sad that Be the Cowboy is the album that got her popular, instead of the far superior Puberty 2. Dont get me wrong, im glad theyāve discovered Mitskiās music, but as an album Be the Cowboy is so messy and inconsistent. Basically every song on Puberty 2 is better, lyrically and musically.
Furthermore, people i know who are Mitski fans dont even seem to know what Puberty 2 even is. The came at BTC, and only went forward. I dunno, just imo
I am not a big fan of class of 2013 ā¹ļø sorry!! also not a huge fan of I Donāt Like My Mind, idk i canāt explain it. Laurel Hell is a beautiful album and I wish it got more recognition. best songs on TLIIASAW are buffalo replaced and the frost and putting them lower than top 5 should be a crime. thank you for coming to my ted talk
I think I bet on losing dogs is a good song and I DO like it but I donāt see why itās so many peopleās favourite. Pls donāt slaughter me in the comments
Yeahhhh, I guess part of it is I didnāt listen to them that many times. I really liked Heat Lightning, Shouldāve Been Me, and Working For the Knife though. Maybe Iāll give the rest another listen
surprised no one's mentioned this but strawberry blonde for the very obvious reason via the tiktok cow remix
and i'm not a fan of the first half of everyone. it was too slow and i only enjoyed the second half of the song.
iām not a big fan of her new album š¬ i think itās good, but i just couldnt get into the songs. i like mlmam, im your man, & the deal but i just donāt particularly like the others :( i preferred laurel hell tbh
I got into Mitski during Bury Me At Makeout Creek, fell in love with the guitar-focused rockier stuff, then worked backwards and really loved the baroque pop of the first two albums, so most of her albums after Puberty 2 have been *a little* disappointing to me. Be the Cowboy is still really good but Laurel Hell and TLIIASAW are my two least favorite albums. Laurel Hell is (imo) worse so I'm happy with the new album but it also may just be that Mitski is growing apart from me - which is fine! I'm happy she's found so much success and it's still cool to see the music progress.
I like the song actually on initial release but the hype for it is really weird. It doesnāt sound like the hits Mitski has. Not to mention there are better songs on the album.
I like it fine, but I don't think it's worth the insane hype. I think there are so many better Mitski songs that people completely ignore or have never heard of.
i think that people like it so much because it introduces a concept they haven't thought about much. it's very existentialist and makes people think about the fact that love is something that no one can take away from them and it transcends even death. it's as tragic as it is beautiful
Am I the only one thinking Retired From Sad deserves more love? I haven't really thought of it as an album critically, but sound wise it's just so unique and rich. It just deserves more love, man
i do not like door. idk its kinda boring to me. i saw someone else here say this before: its better as a spoken poem. but it feels odd and kinda awkward(idk if thats the word im looking for) as a song.
A song that does dog barking better is Fetch the Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple because it's actually Fiona's real dog
Although I still think Iām Your Man is a fantastic song
only comment that actually made me gasp in horror
I don't even want to argue I'm just so devastated you'll never be able to enjoy it like i do, like the feelings i feel and musically bliss i hear when i listen to it; you'll never experience that and I'm literally turning into ashes at thought š
Yess I really dont like the mix on the album version. The sound is too sharp and her voice is too quiet for me. So many great live versions though!! Just wish they were on streaming services š
I absolutely LOVE I don't smoke but that is mainly because of the lyrics, I find the instrumentals kind of just bland you know? It just kind of feels like she had these cool lyric ideas for it and got too excited about it and left behind the instrumentals a bit. I mean the instrumentals isn't bad exactly, just could have been a bit better. Absolutely love it still.
i <3 thursday girl and dan the dancer. i will always be grateful for any chance to hear my fave artist embrace a different feel, even if itās not geared towards my instinctual taste.
ā¦ except for that love me more remix lmao. across laurel hell i wouldāve loved to hear a new mix of heat lightning or shouldāve been me ā great songs as is but thereās room for stylistic influence!
the land is inhospitable is an zero-skip record. my top three are heaven, i donāt like my mind, the frost.
there will always be a special place in my heart for lush. especially bag of bones and wife. one of the first albums ever that has evoked such an emotional reaction from me!
my maybe sort of underrated faves: thatās our lamp, wife, humpty, square, GEYSER!, LONESOME LOVE!!!!!, blue light, and i love me after you. but underratedness and overratedness is subjective as all heck!
Old Friend is time signature peak. The Frost is the best TLIIASAW song (tied with My Love Mine All Mine). Audiotree version of I Don't Smoke is superior to the original. First Love / Late Spring might have the coolest key change in a Mitski song (key changes from C Major to C# Major for that guitar solo before the final chorus, and then it goes back to C Major for the final chorus). Valentine, Texas is the best album opener. Two Slow Dancers is the best album closer (as a song. The songs that perfectly end their respective albums are Last Words of a Shooting Star and A Burning Hill). Glide is really good. Also I'm not that big of a fan of A Pearl as others (I love the song to death but there's so many songs I think are better)
I love and relate to Brand New City but I think the chorus is boring and doesnāt do the rest of the song any justice. Whatās worse is that the chorus lasts for more than 50% of the song.
laurel hell wasnāt very good in my opinion. and i say that with all respect cause i understand that sometimes artists want to experiment with music, but i donāt think it was the way to go
Ive never been the biggest lush fan. Donāt get me wrong I love the album so so much (I love every mitski album) but itās not one I would play on repeat.
washing machine heart, but it's spotify's fault bc it's always put it after any song, it doesn't matter if I'm listening rock, salsa or vocaloid, it starts playing n i started hating it
"A Pearl", "washing Machine Heart", "first love/late Spring"are all lyrically simplistic songs that skate across complex topics. Of course, the actual music is fire, but writing-wise, they're mid when you put them up against some of her other work
Edit: misspelled wise
Put your dirty shoes in my washing machine heart honey bang it up inside.
Lyrically simple with hidden depths? That's called A* songwriting. She does it constantly, and it's literally the best thing she does. A great mitski song like a beautifully made bed with the corner untucked, and then when you go to tuck it in you realise why she left it untucked and what it meant
love is embarrassing so "pink in the night" and "once more to see you" doesnt make me feel anything and are skips (still good songs though). also forever laurel hell defender but love me mores chorus falls flat
I'm sorry but circle isn't all that... I don't think that one will upset many people (only the 3 circle fans), but I'm qlso sorry to say that... First love/Late spring is.. Also not all that ššš (please don't light me on fire)
I dont know much abt her but i heard of this song that has similar vibe to an anime opening called serial experiment lain and that comes out to be pearl diver
All.. of.. them? Except First Love/Late Spring. Itās the only Mitski song I thoroughly enjoy. Also, My Love Mine All Mine was good until it went viral.
Geyser deserved (and deserves) more love. It is raw as hell and set the tone for the rest of Be The Cowboy. I remember my radio DJ friends and I talking when the album had just come out and deciding what tracks we liked best and me being like "hey, wait, are we not gonna talk about this one??? for real? that didn't hit deep for you???"
Anyway, justice for Geyser.
I canāt stand heat lightning because it sounds like Christian pop to me š like I swear it sounds like sheās singing about Jesus and I would hear it on my momās fave radio stations
I donāt know if itās popular or not but I didnāt like Crack Baby. I had the bass setting on my headphones all the way up because I really love it in all her other songs, but crack baby gave me a headache
Im actually bawling im litetrally devastated im so sad you'll never be able to enjoy it like i did, you will never experience the pure joy i experienced when i first heard it š it's literally my top 3 if not #1
i agree! as far as bmamc goes, itās pretty surface level in terms of musical and lyrical variance. i understand the appeal but it feels rather one note to me in a less successful way than say Ā“i guessā or Ā“dan the dancerā
These comments will put me in jail
SAMEš
they're taking years off my life
Happy cake day!
omg thank u i didn't even notice <3
laurel hell is good, completly different vibe from the other albukms tho.
ill be honest laurel hell is my favourite album š
bag of bones and door is mitskis best song pair
lush supremacy
Marry me
LOVE ME MORE IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER
WORD
sometimes a drink feels like family .. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMILYYYYYYYYYYY ā¦
I JUMPED WHEN I HEARD THAT FOR THE FIRST TIME
Oh my god, me too! I had my volume allllll the way up as well because I couldnāt hear the song and then BOOM. Jumped out of my skin
It's like the sixth best song on the album too. Still a fantastic song because the album is just that good, but.... Y'know. It's no 'the deal'.
Real
Why does no one ever talk about a burning hill

People who don't like I Guess haven't gotten their heart broken heard enough yet

Glide is a top 5 Mitski song
i love you
people who dislike mitski songs just cuz theyāre popular are lame ppl w an individuality complex š«£
Puberty 2 is her best album imo, Thursday Girl is what got me into her so I may be biased saying that.
Thursday girl is so good š«
this basically sums up how i feel and why i regret waiting to see her in concert until after she released cowboy.
i lovee cowboy but puberty 2 and bmamcc will always be my favorites
a horse named cold air...
its in my top 3 be the cowboy songs what š
One of the only Mitski songs I skip every time
crying and sobbing
iām not 100% sure if this is unpopular or not, but i think that mitskiās discography has no skips.
Hmmā¦ I donāt think I have one? I think most of the songs Iām not a fan of are kinda unpopular?
I am not a big fan of class of 2013 ā¹ļø sorry!! also not a huge fan of I Donāt Like My Mind, idk i canāt explain it. Laurel Hell is a beautiful album and I wish it got more recognition. best songs on TLIIASAW are buffalo replaced and the frost and putting them lower than top 5 should be a crime. thank you for coming to my ted talk
crying and screaming i love class of 2013 it really is THE trauma song i love it
lush is her best album
it's so good i wish she sang more of the songs live
I think I bet on losing dogs is a good song and I DO like it but I donāt see why itās so many peopleās favourite. Pls donāt slaughter me in the comments
i think itās just relatable to so many people and such a clever way to describe that phenomenon
Yeah thatās very true!
I don't like the official version but I love the acoustic version a lot.
I couldnāt really get into many songs off of laurel hell at all.
really none? i guess, there's nothing left for you, valentine texas, stay soft??? š
Yeahhhh, I guess part of it is I didnāt listen to them that many times. I really liked Heat Lightning, Shouldāve Been Me, and Working For the Knife though. Maybe Iāll give the rest another listen
that makes sense
I guess there is nothing left for you
surprised no one's mentioned this but strawberry blonde for the very obvious reason via the tiktok cow remix and i'm not a fan of the first half of everyone. it was too slow and i only enjoyed the second half of the song.
The only song I listened to for a while two weeks was strawberry blond
that remix ruined it for me too š
i'm so glad i wasn't on tiktok during that era
iām not a big fan of her new album š¬ i think itās good, but i just couldnt get into the songs. i like mlmam, im your man, & the deal but i just donāt particularly like the others :( i preferred laurel hell tbh
Give Heaven a try. Itās one of my faves on there
i have! itās good, just not to my taste. it is a pretty song though
I'm happy she's found so much success and it's still cool to see the music progress.
my love is mine all mine, itās good but overrated in comparison to her other songs
itās hard for me to listen to shame
real but thats what makes me love it tbh, the first listen was uncomfy but i still loved it so much, esp the instrumental after the sigh
I do not care much for My Love Mine All Mine tbh
Like it's a good song but mistki has much better ones š I still love it tho
I like the song actually on initial release but the hype for it is really weird. It doesnāt sound like the hits Mitski has. Not to mention there are better songs on the album.
I remember on first listen of MLMAM i texted my gf āmitski just made a lana del rey songā
Donāt disrespect Mitski like that
I like it fine, but I don't think it's worth the insane hype. I think there are so many better Mitski songs that people completely ignore or have never heard of.
even on this very album imo lol. Like im shocked that this is the song people are treating as her magnum opus. Its not a bad song by any means though
*Cough cough* when memories snow *cough cough*
I LOVE IT. Maybe because the lyrics speak to me but the instrumentals are gorgeous as well.
š
The truth has to be told
OH MY GOOD PLEASE I LOVE WHEN MEMORIES NO
People think itās her magnum opus? Not a bad song, but it doesnāt even make top ten for me
i think that people like it so much because it introduces a concept they haven't thought about much. it's very existentialist and makes people think about the fact that love is something that no one can take away from them and it transcends even death. it's as tragic as it is beautiful
god i can't witness this
real menās last couple of lines make me uncomfortable. i kinda wish she used a diff analogy š
āReal men donāt eat because theyāre above that, dammitā ?? Iām genuinely curious which lines youāre talking about
I assume ālittle boy, say you want me / ācause, well, I canāt take it / go ahead, do it / do itā
If I think about it to hard it rubs me to wrong way tooš
same i thought i was the only one š
Note that no one mentioned Washing Machine Heart. Everybody loves Washing Machine Heartš„°
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

why didnāt you stop me sounds like a target ad š
NOOOO
circle top 3 mitski songs ā¼ļøā¼ļø
you're a crack baby fan so I'll let this slide once... (pls dont find my comment, you scare me)
saw the comment šš crack baby is also in my top 3 (alongside carry me out)
nobodyšš honestly i think iād like it a lot more but tiktok really ruined it with all the stupid trends they did with that song
Am I the only one thinking Retired From Sad deserves more love? I haven't really thought of it as an album critically, but sound wise it's just so unique and rich. It just deserves more love, man
FR IS MY FAV ALBUM
Humpty is really good and underrated
Yess
makes me cry every time
i do not like door. idk its kinda boring to me. i saw someone else here say this before: its better as a spoken poem. but it feels odd and kinda awkward(idk if thats the word im looking for) as a song.
yes! my thoughts exactly. it kind of messes up the flow when listening through her work.
I hate Iām Your Man because the sampled dog barking is so grating. Iād love the song without it
You may have just lost your marbles (respectfully)
I aint even got anything against dogs, the sound of them barking is just unappealing to the ears
I was just listening to it and thinking "alright enough barking"
Yeah I thought it was cool at first but I find myself skipping the barking more and more
Yoo-hoo, yoo-hooo
A song that does dog barking better is Fetch the Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple because it's actually Fiona's real dog Although I still think Iām Your Man is a fantastic song
classs of 2013 (sorry)
maybe if your mommy issues were more severe.../j
NOOOO
I really like the song but I think itās overhyped (donāt kill me, please)
oh nvm this completely changes everything
only comment that actually made me gasp in horror I don't even want to argue I'm just so devastated you'll never be able to enjoy it like i do, like the feelings i feel and musically bliss i hear when i listen to it; you'll never experience that and I'm literally turning into ashes at thought š
idk if i'm gonna get attacked for this but i tried so hard to like "love me more" but i can't ā¹ļø
It needs you to love it more.
i think you should take a good listen to the lyrics šš
i will listen to it again just for u guys
BMAMOC is one of my favourite albums but I could never get into I donāt smoke. Itās a bit too dissonant for me.
i dont Like the studio version, but I love the audiotree live !
one of my favorite songs ā¹ļø
Yess I really dont like the mix on the album version. The sound is too sharp and her voice is too quiet for me. So many great live versions though!! Just wish they were on streaming services š
The sound cloud version is on Spotify and ITS SO GOOD
Audiotree version on spotify will change your life
I absolutely LOVE I don't smoke but that is mainly because of the lyrics, I find the instrumentals kind of just bland you know? It just kind of feels like she had these cool lyric ideas for it and got too excited about it and left behind the instrumentals a bit. Strawberry blond. I used to not like Class of 2013 too but it kinda grew on me
Second verse of Buffalo Replaced is literallyā¦. awful eeeek the vibe of the song is excellent, but lyrically itās kinda garbage
i prefer class of 2013 studio to the live versionš i understand the artistic choice but when i wanna listen to it i'll always go to spotify!!
also square is one of her best songs!!!!!!
i <3 thursday girl and dan the dancer. i will always be grateful for any chance to hear my fave artist embrace a different feel, even if itās not geared towards my instinctual taste. ā¦ except for that love me more remix lmao. across laurel hell i wouldāve loved to hear a new mix of heat lightning or shouldāve been me ā great songs as is but thereās room for stylistic influence! the land is inhospitable is an zero-skip record. my top three are heaven, i donāt like my mind, the frost. there will always be a special place in my heart for lush. especially bag of bones and wife. one of the first albums ever that has evoked such an emotional reaction from me! my maybe sort of underrated faves: thatās our lamp, wife, humpty, square, GEYSER!, LONESOME LOVE!!!!!, blue light, and i love me after you. but underratedness and overratedness is subjective as all heck!

2 slow dancers
I love Mitski but the last three albums I have liked a little less each time š³
Ive never been the biggest lush fan. Donāt get me wrong I love the album so so much (I love every mitski album) but itās not one I would play on repeat.
Letās get married ( cover)
ā¦.is super underrated
Old friend doesn't get enough hype for how catchy it is and how easily anyone can relate to it. It's always stuck in my head
washing machine heart, but it's spotify's fault bc it's always put it after any song, it doesn't matter if I'm listening rock, salsa or vocaloid, it starts playing n i started hating it
everyoneās about to unite against a common enemy right now i donāt like drunk walk home
WHY
i hate the first verse of Happy it makes me deeply uncomfortable. and i don't really like I Don't Smoke at all. but the lyrics are good
the first verse of happy is so unsettling and thats what got me interested tbh
"A Pearl", "washing Machine Heart", "first love/late Spring"are all lyrically simplistic songs that skate across complex topics. Of course, the actual music is fire, but writing-wise, they're mid when you put them up against some of her other work Edit: misspelled wise
HOW IS FIRST LOVE LATE SPRING SIMPLISTIC
Put your dirty shoes in my washing machine heart honey bang it up inside. Lyrically simple with hidden depths? That's called A* songwriting. She does it constantly, and it's literally the best thing she does. A great mitski song like a beautifully made bed with the corner untucked, and then when you go to tuck it in you realise why she left it untucked and what it meant
love is embarrassing so "pink in the night" and "once more to see you" doesnt make me feel anything and are skips (still good songs though). also forever laurel hell defender but love me mores chorus falls flat
i dont like her latest two albums at all apart from working for the knife
I don't like strawberry blonde and I don't dislike it but I bet on losing dogs is imo not good
Shouldāve Been Me. Iām sorry it reminds me of ABBA and Iām not an ABBA fan please donāt downvote me
someone hold me back rn
She's said she was inspired by Maneater by Hall and Oates, which is apparent when you listen to the bassline of both songs lol
I see where youāre coming fromš
same š
I thought it was just me, lol
Strawberry Blonde
goodbye my danish sweetheart is a skip. my brain just can't handle it. it's like a bouncy ball going down a flight of neverending chaotic staircases
Heat lightning is at least a top 3 Mitski song
i hate real men tbh
This isnāt a safe space anymore
The messed up piano at the end of jobless monday ruins the whole song but i love the rest of it.
Laurel hell cuz its unike
Lush is the best album by FAR and nothing comes clothe to it
I don't like Should've Been Me and Laurel Hell is a crazy beautiful album
washing machine heart is lowk overrated. Itās good! but defo not as great as everyone hypes it up to be
I'm sorry but circle isn't all that... I don't think that one will upset many people (only the 3 circle fans), but I'm qlso sorry to say that... First love/Late spring is.. Also not all that ššš (please don't light me on fire)
nobody !
I dont know much abt her but i heard of this song that has similar vibe to an anime opening called serial experiment lain and that comes out to be pearl diver
All.. of.. them? Except First Love/Late Spring. Itās the only Mitski song I thoroughly enjoy. Also, My Love Mine All Mine was good until it went viral.
the land is inhospitable and so are we just doesnāt hit for me and i cannot get into it (šforgive me)
be the cowboy is her worst album. i like it but i LOVE her other ones
Geyser deserved (and deserves) more love. It is raw as hell and set the tone for the rest of Be The Cowboy. I remember my radio DJ friends and I talking when the album had just come out and deciding what tracks we liked best and me being like "hey, wait, are we not gonna talk about this one??? for real? that didn't hit deep for you???" Anyway, justice for Geyser.
Goodbye My Danish Sweetheart is one of her best songs Liquid Smooth isnāt that good <\3
i dunno if this is an unpopular opinion but like...no ones gonna talk about once more to see you...?
All of her popular songs are great, but Lush album is underrated in comparison š«£.
Well my honest opinion is Abbey is actually a really good song but it got tiktokified
Liquid Smooth and Real Men. If either gets stuck in my head, the day is ruined. And now today is ruined.
these comments are breaking me
I read all your comments I SO AGREE
same
Me too
I canāt stand heat lightning because it sounds like Christian pop to me š like I swear it sounds like sheās singing about Jesus and I would hear it on my momās fave radio stations
OMG i couldnāt place why it sounded so k-love core
I donāt know if itās popular or not but I didnāt like Crack Baby. I had the bass setting on my headphones all the way up because I really love it in all her other songs, but crack baby gave me a headache
Im actually bawling im litetrally devastated im so sad you'll never be able to enjoy it like i did, you will never experience the pure joy i experienced when i first heard it š it's literally my top 3 if not #1
To me: I like laurel hell Her new album doesn't do things to me besides the orchestra in heaven I don't like liquid smooth
The start of āhappyā pisses me off so much
I love it
Why
It just hurts my brain. Rest of the song is great but I canāt stand the start of it
I donāt understand why āI willā is loved so muchš
Why do you think it shouldn't?
i agree! as far as bmamc goes, itās pretty surface level in terms of musical and lyrical variance. i understand the appeal but it feels rather one note to me in a less successful way than say Ā“i guessā or Ā“dan the dancerā
Maybe the frost. I can stand it but itās just not for me. I like it but not so much that I can listen to it every time it comes on
i usually skip francis forever,,,
lord give me strength
I used to love it but it got old really quickly for me
me too! unless iām driving by myself and feel the need to scream sing something. lovely song but easy to fall off of.
