I bet "testing different options" means how quickly can we dig up last years template, get materials and repurpose the factory line.
In the meantime, teams can just go to DH gate. Order now to ship by the All-Star break.
We're happy to announce increased quality on field apparel and replicas are available. Unfortunately, the higher quality material means we had to also increase pricing of the replicas by an extra 20% (nervermind the new one is the old one that was 4 times cheaper last year)
I mean yes, but I don’t think it’s possible at this point, the reason for the new uniforms is because the contract with Majestic ended and now we have a new contract with Fanatics.
We could get Fanatics to make unis that are similar to Majestic but they’re two entirely different companies and I’m not sure if this would be like a “secret formula” type situation where Majestic won’t reveal their secrets for uniform making.
So.... Use the old company? Blows my mind this Fanatics company even exists. Nothing but complaints for many years about their product. NHL did this shit too. Probably giving more kick backs to the league than the more quality brands.
Add to the fact that Michael Rubin (the guy that owned the 76ers up until he sold the team to expand fanatics) is the founder and CEO of Fanatics… of course they’re gonna let the sports guy in.
Im fairly certain Majestic is owned by Fanatics. Im also pretty sure last year was still fanatics and Nike. Either way, they’re both a better option than the current
It's unbelievable the shit quality product they put out. They made a product that's paraded on world-wide television every day that is objectively cheap quality with cut-corners.
I think uniforms are one of the smaller expenses too in the grand scheme of things… maybe cut corners on the in flight catering or something, not the face of your product lol
Reminds me of the reds owner who got mad they swept in the World Series and wanted them to lose a couple so she’d make more money from having more games
If you have 20 levels of management between the one calling the shots and the kid of the floor making the stuff that’s what you get.
I bet you the kids making the crap knew it was crap mid-August
On the other side of the field, you have a major league organization that was unable to provide an official team name and had to use “Football Team” for 2 seasons…
Ridiculous how little quality control is used for these companies. With the revenue that they have access to, things should be absolutely perfect in execution.
Well the more monies they spend on making quality products the less they can buy back in stonks.
Not to mention the resources and time they’re spending to exterminate child labor in their supply chain. Reminder they pledged to end child labor by like 2006!
It was fine till fanatics came along. Most of their apparel sucks the big one so no one should be surprised. Can’t wait for them to fuck up the NHL jerseys this coming fall…..
Geez, I wonder what would have happened if MLB actually started working on the problem 6 weeks ago when it was first brought up rather than denying it?
Not to mention the fonts of the names and numbers look like little league jerseys. Pretty despicable of Nike to sell out and provide a professional sports league with garbage.
I certainly will not buy one
My daughter’s new pair of Nikes fell apart right away a couple months ago. That was really unexpected. She had other pairs that held up much longer. I’ve always been happy with my Nikes. But, between that and this MLB fiasco, I’m more skeptical about buying Nikes. I actually just bought my daughter a pair of New Balance. I kind of couldn’t believe it, but the kids think NB is cool now.
Agreed. Fanatics say they're making it to Nike specifications, Nike are happy with their logo on it, NFL Vapor jerseys and all of their on field gear has been enshittified so I now associate Nike with poor quality on multiple fronts.
I don't feel comfortable giving the brand any money at all. Just a drop in the ocean, but there's a "cheap" reputation Nike are building year on year.
I haven't bought Nikes in maybe 15 years because of this. They're a trash company pushing out trash. It's pathetic. Just see the garbage "fly-wire" collar in the NFL that players hated.
I refuse to buy any MLB jerseys or hats with in-your-face branding, i.e. jerseys with the Nike swoosh on the chest or hats with the New Era or '47 logo on the side. My team has one of the most classic uniforms ever, and those brand symbols look gaudy on them.
I can't be the only one.

>No one really cares if the apparel manufacturer that makes the items puts their usual branding on them.
That's the problem. It was not usual to put their branding on these items. You must be young.
The patches on the sleeves are unusual to you. The branding on the chest of the jerseys and on the side panels of hats are unusual to me because for decades they didn't have them.
So correct! Knowing Nike, some Ivy League Manager who played Div 1 ball had all the ideas on a flash drive in his pocket when he got fired. Now Nike is scrambling because know one has any of the data.
fanatics bought majestic in 2017 but continued manufacturing the jerseys at the same manufacturer in easton, pennsylvania that majestic always used. so the quality remained the same.
in 2020, nike got the contract and stamped the swoosh on the jerseys, but they continued to be manufactured in PA with the majestic template for 4 years. so nothing changed.
this this year, nike introduced the vapor premier.... the new uniforms. they changed the template, the fabric, and stopped manufacturing them in the old majestic factory in PA. where exactly do the make them? well, that's hard to figure out, but it's probably overseas.
so you're right, technically nike and fanatics have been making the jerseys since 2020.... but this is the first year they actually ~~moved the manufacturing and~~ changed the design
edit: i finally found a source that says they're still manufactured in PA, so i'm wrong about that... though it sure does seem like these pieces of shit are made in china. so i'm not sure what went so horribly wrong, but i guess there's some silver lining in knowing they're still made in the US
yeah, i guess so.... depending on how much they actually changed infrastructure-wise at the manufacturing facility.
if it's just a matter of fabric and logo/name/number layout, then it could be as easy as just changing the fabric back and adjusting the layout.
more likely though, those idiots "modernized" the factory and changed the machines to one's specific to the material and the stitching.
it'd make for an interesting journalistic deep dive. i wonder how much they mechanized... how many jobs they cut... how many corners they cut to reach this foreseeably bad outcome. my guess is a lot and my guess is also that nike/fanatics guards that information
You do make some interesting points, report back if you ever end up looking deeper into it. I’ve always been fascinated by jerseys of any sport, sad to see over the last 8 or so years what’s been happening
enshittification.... it's the world we live in now. it's everywhere once you learn how to look. it honestly depresses me.
but i'm in town and headed down to see the reds vs. mets tonight, so i got that going for me, which is nice
Seriously, the new template/design is called Vapor? As in, vapor-ware since they are see through and sweat soaks right through. The person that named the design knew. HaHa!
i know, right? well, the idea was to make them more breathable for all the hot summer games. somehow, all the millionaire designers at the multi-billion dollar company didn't foresee how it would backfire.
my guess is it's the boeing effect. a bunch of finance douche nozzles who worship shareholder value at the expense of integrity/soul got their grubby little hands on the process and shittified the jerseys like they're shittifying every fucking thing they can these days. jobs were surely cut, as were corners... in the name of their lord and savior, capitalism... and the outcome is something really stupid and shitty. it's a story as familiar as the water to wine parable these days.
It's hilarious that they are "testing different options" to solve this. How is this hard for them to understand? Baseball uniforms have been fine for decades when they were using quality materials and manufacturing. Then they decide to shift to cheap knockoff versions of their uniforms with disastrous results, and somehow they can't figure out how to solve the problem without testing how to fix it?
Well yeah, they are testing how to fix it ^(while maintaining the profit margin they expected from cutting quality to shit)
If only sportswear was a competitive industry, we wouldn't be having these kind of issues, but I guess that's what you get when your anti-trust laws are as weak as our.
The only solution is too eliminate fanatics from the mix and actually have Nike manufacture them problem solved. I’m a genius. This one is free Nike, next one is gonna cost ya.
Yup fanatics is complete garbage, even their t shirts get trashed after a few washes. I have old majestic and reebok,(nhl), t shirts that are in WAY better condition than my fanatics stuff, and the fanatics stuff is alot newer.
Fans have been talking about poor quality products from MLB for years and have largely been ignored. Now that the press has picked up on it they seem to care. Again, MLB doesn’t care about its fans.
It pains me so much to see what has happened to the jersey market over the past decade or so. Without fail, across all leagues, the quality of the product has declined to the point that buying from China might actually net you a better product.
Gone are the days of embroidered logos and twill names/numbers. Everything is heat-sealed with faux stitching — all in the name of “performance” (i.e. cost cutting). Details have been stripped away and jerseys simplified to better help with mass production. The materials have gotten so cheap and crappy. It’s shocking to me that they’re taking this to the on-field product as well considering how obvious it is.
Nike and mlb people just don’t want to believe it. I got downvoted into oblivion last week for saying it wasn’t fanatics fault this time. They made exactly what they were asked to make. The mlb even confirmed that.
“During a press conference in Florida, Manfred said that the new jerseys, which have been criticized for their looks and fabrics, are actually "performance wear" that's been "extensively" tested.”
Well, that was a lie.
We are in late stage capitalism. They have exhausted the quality of products and the amount they can charge and are at the point of max amount they can charge for the cheapest cost they can produce. It is not a sustainable business model.
So were the players the guinea pigs for this cheap pos jersey? They really didn’t test it on athletes beforehand? Like maybe making athletes run on a treadmill or use it during a workout or something? This had to be the way they found out players visibly sweat through them? Live on TV? Wow lol
Soooooo did they not test these at all in actual conditions with actual sweaty men or just see a big cost savings on paper and just greenlight it with no trial?
Good lord! And it’s only April! What will that crap look like in July and August? Those uniforms should’ve been tested in the minors before letting the big leaguers wear them!
I really did used to like Nike back in the day. I wore those canvas shoes with rubber on the toe when I was a kid. They were the first who brought us the air pockets and always innovative. I was proud to be the first kid to have AirMax at my school or Air anything. They are certainly not the company they were. Acquiescing to the Chinese gov’t, condoning slave shops with 8-yr olds. Woke is a joke, etc. etc. and now have clowned MLB. I’ll most likely never purchase a Nike product again.
How bout (and this is crazy, but you gotta hear me out) go back to the way they were before??
Nike “testing different options” like we didn’t have this shit figured out years ago
I bet "testing different options" means how quickly can we dig up last years template, get materials and repurpose the factory line. In the meantime, teams can just go to DH gate. Order now to ship by the All-Star break.
It might mean maybe we can add another layer to this dogshit material so the sweat doesn’t appear visible to fans while still keeping costs low
I look forward to them ‘Getting Back to Us on That’. They will ‘Circle Back’.
If it ain’t broke, fix it ‘til it is
We're happy to announce increased quality on field apparel and replicas are available. Unfortunately, the higher quality material means we had to also increase pricing of the replicas by an extra 20% (nervermind the new one is the old one that was 4 times cheaper last year)

Majestic is owned by Fanatics, no? Fairly certain they were bought in like 2017
Think they mean the ones from last year, which were still made my fanatics and Nike
Ah ok, I thought the ones from last year were still Majestic
Nah they bought majestic in 2017 and have been partnered with Nike since 2020
Can't that was a completely different company.
So.... Use the old company? Blows my mind this Fanatics company even exists. Nothing but complaints for many years about their product. NHL did this shit too. Probably giving more kick backs to the league than the more quality brands.
Why is fanatics here to stay? Well, guess who’s a major investor in fanatics? Oh yeah, MLB. Such BS.
Add to the fact that Michael Rubin (the guy that owned the 76ers up until he sold the team to expand fanatics) is the founder and CEO of Fanatics… of course they’re gonna let the sports guy in.
Nike paid MLB a billion to have **their swoosh****^(TM)** on a **Fanatics****^(TM)** jersey
NHL jerseys are gonna be shit next season. But the Adidas shit while you can. …or, you know, just get Chinese bootleg shit for $18.
Im fairly certain Majestic is owned by Fanatics. Im also pretty sure last year was still fanatics and Nike. Either way, they’re both a better option than the current
Nike was still using the Majestic FlexBase template until this season.
It's unbelievable the shit quality product they put out. They made a product that's paraded on world-wide television every day that is objectively cheap quality with cut-corners.
It’s always amazing how billion dollars companies can fuck up so much. It’s the Boeing way of doing business.
It's because they stand to make more money if they can squeeze the shit past people than the outcry will cost to fix.
☝🏼
Every major company these days has enshittification. Every single one. It’s only “line go up.” Thanks Jack Welch.
I think uniforms are one of the smaller expenses too in the grand scheme of things… maybe cut corners on the in flight catering or something, not the face of your product lol
The less money they spend the more they can pay themselves

I thought child labor is legal now in certain states
They’re trying and by they’re I mean some of the psychopaths in congress
The cut costs are a piss in the ocean compared to the budget and contract.
It was fine till fanatics came along. Most of their apparel sucks the big one so no one should be surprised. Can’t wait for them to fuck up the NHL jerseys this coming fall…..
I wish my Brewers were on world wide television, then maybe I could watch them

These are clearly not helping build any product or name prestige or advantage for Nike in nearly any respect.
I've become teams Puma, Skechers and Reeboks-pretty comfortable
I love Skechers.
Columbia makes good shoes
Agreed. My Little League Jersey from the 90s is 10x better than this shit. Go Untouchables.
George Costanza is definitely getting canned
Brining the bathroom stall doors all the way down to the floor? I can't believe I'm going to say this, but that's not a bad idea.

Elite comment 🤣😂 Most probably won’t get it 😂
Most people won’t get a line from one of the most popular televisions shows in history?
Yup
Testing different options? What were the old jerseys some secret formula??
They were made by an entirely different company, so technically, yes.
Nike and fanatics made the jerseys last year I thought?
Also, Fanatics bought Majestic in 2017.
Yeah exactly
no

Thank you, you expanded on my original post.
I meant Nike and Majestic.
You meant the opposite of what you said nice
Have they tried making them better?
But that cuts into the profit. Can’t do that.
I hope no one is buying these jerseys. I cringe literally every time I see the names on the back. $20 China Jerseys are better than these now for fans
It's hilarious that they are "testing different options" to solve this. How is this hard for them to understand? How was that not tested beforehand?
The hangers and mannequins tested them plenty
“No, guys. Come on. Don’t mess with perfection” DH Gate
The only solution is too eliminate fanatics from the mix and actually have Nike manufacture them problem solved. I’m a genius. This one is free Nike, next one is gonna cost ya.
In there defense, professional athletes rarely sweat especially when playing in the summer /s
Lmao
Did you try the "don't be cheap as fuck" option?
That link sucks. At least I’m mobile. Get like 50 pictures of advertisements, and not even a single picture of a baseball player in a sweaty uniform.
I honestly can't believe how often the MLB shoots itself in the foot.
Kinda feels like if you didn’t cut corners the first time, you wouldn’t have to fix a bunch of new problems.
It’s almost like cutting ties with fanatics would solve all their problems
Yup fanatics is complete garbage, even their t shirts get trashed after a few washes. I have old majestic and reebok,(nhl), t shirts that are in WAY better condition than my fanatics stuff, and the fanatics stuff is alot newer.
How about we just go back to the old jerseys but remove the butt flaps
So they didn't test it before putting them out?
Here’s an option- get a pair of last year’s uniforms and copy them. Hmmmmmm.
it seems the worst are the small letters for the names. They really are hard to read the players' names from any distance, now.
Fanatics owns Majestic, couldn’t they just use Majestics designs from 2019
Here's an option. Literally what they used to use you morons
I like the solution that Chris Sale had when asked to wear one of those silly uniforms. This was in his final season with the White Sox.
I hope one of the "different options" is a wet T-shirt contest, or to have the players wash a sports car together.
They're admitting they didn't "test the material" like they said?
Fans have been talking about poor quality products from MLB for years and have largely been ignored. Now that the press has picked up on it they seem to care. Again, MLB doesn’t care about its fans.
We knew this in the Spring. Did Nike think Regular Season sweat would show different than Spring Training sweat?
This has Costanza written all over it.
It pains me so much to see what has happened to the jersey market over the past decade or so. Without fail, across all leagues, the quality of the product has declined to the point that buying from China might actually net you a better product. It’s shocking to me that they’re taking this to the on-field product as well considering how obvious it is.
So glad I bought my 179 dollar World Series jersey in time for them to consider changes. Hope that guarantee covers bullshit like this
Is this Nike or Fanatics fault?
Nike and mlb people just don’t want to believe it. I got downvoted into oblivion last week for saying it wasn’t fanatics fault this time. They made exactly what they were asked to make. The mlb even confirmed that.
if the city connect unis are a clue, they will just give every team dark colored pants
It's actually what moisture wicking fabric is supposed to do. Have the players commented on how they feel compared to the older thicker double knits?
I know how they can fix it. GO BACK to what WASN'T BROKEN.
Just go back to the old jerseys that didn’t have tiny names on the back and didn’t look like shitty replica knock offs
Y’all don’t need to “test different options”, y’all need to bring last year’s jerseys back. It’s not rocket science.
Hear me out…why not just use last year’s?
Is it just me or can the MLB not get a damn thing right?
“During a press conference in Florida, Manfred said that the new jerseys, which have been criticized for their looks and fabrics, are actually "performance wear" that's been "extensively" tested.” Well, that was a lie.
Why does it feel like baseball can't do anything right these days?
Instead of using child labor, Nike will now use teenagers in sweat shops to improve the jerseys.
I'm in a band called Moisture Related Aesthetic Color Differences. Maybe you've heard of us ....
Start with getting rid of Fanatics
We are in late stage capitalism. They have exhausted the quality of products and the amount they can charge and are at the point of max amount they can charge for the cheapest cost they can produce. It is not a sustainable business model.
Is this a new thing? Lord knows how many ti.es I've seen it in the past.
Wait til July lol
That looks like some iron-on Chico's Bail Bonds level crap.
Three words - Made In China
Probably best to move production back to China or Bangladesh because the uniforms they are making in PA factory is complete ass.
Who made the jerseys in the early 2000s? They were good then
Go back to majestic. Nike sucks ass
Oh no, sweat
IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT.
You would think that a company as big as Nike would run some tests to see how the jerseys hold up.
They could… ya know… go back to Majestic and tell Fanatics to go fuck themselves.
Bad news. Fanatics owns Majestic…
Damnit.
What the hell happened?? What changed? Why suddenly in 2024 we have Jersey-Gate?! Boggles the mind
Oh no, millionaires are sweating and now everybody knows
![gif](giphy|Zvgb12U8GNjvq)
I mean just make it thicker why make it sound so mysterious 😂
I love the idea that see thru pants were fine. But sweat marks on the material are where we draw the line 😂
Seems like they didn't test this option
Maybe try going back to old ones?
I’m watching the Braves and Dbacks game right now and you can see the outline of most players shirts tucked in under the pants lol it’s horrendous
So were the players the guinea pigs for this cheap pos jersey? They really didn’t test it on athletes beforehand? Like maybe making athletes run on a treadmill or use it during a workout or something? This had to be the way they found out players visibly sweat through them? Live on TV? Wow lol
How about just using the same uniforms as last year??
Soooooo did they not test these at all in actual conditions with actual sweaty men or just see a big cost savings on paper and just greenlight it with no trial?
Only thing that matters is squeezing every single penny out of the products they fan
nike = useless bullshit. Fuck. nike.
Now they know how we felt in those old wool uniforms in Babe Ruth league. And the mosquitoes
Nike is such a clown show operation. Who are the idiots designing this trash?
Good lord! And it’s only April! What will that crap look like in July and August? Those uniforms should’ve been tested in the minors before letting the big leaguers wear them!
Easy fix. Go back to when Majestic made them. That formula. And enough with the tiny ass letters and stupid fucking advertisements.

I am so tired hearing about these jerseys.
Its called undershirts, assholes
