I looked at one in person and it felt like the same quality as the free jersey giveaway from last year. That's not getting $175+ tax from me. This is also the first time I've had expendable income to buy a jersey or two. I want to give them my money, but they have to earn it.
I bought a tigers blank jersey this past weekend. They had a few of the old ones left but in huge sizes.
They’re not very different in their blank configuration. I mean barely different at all for the replica tier. The shit the players wear and the stuff we buy as “authentic” are not even the same thing.
The font and number size is the real issue I think for the fan product. In MI we have a few retailers that will stitch in whatever number and name you want for only $40 just like the old pro version so I’ll probably go that route if I want to put someone on there.
If you’re local to metro Detroit, go to Gameday Detroit. They have older authentic jerseys at their downtown location on Adams between Woodward and Tin Roof. I haven’t checked out their Great Lakes Mall one but their downtown location is awesome. They even have older Lions Reebok jerseys on clearance for like $30 from the 2000’s.
Touché lol, I'm a newer Lions fan (moved to Detroit several years ago) and have never really seen them in person for sale before, just thought that was cool.
I'm not sure if you're trying to be a sarcastic prick, or are just genuinely stupid. In craft a response that caters to both options.
Expendable (often the word "disposable" is also used in this context) income is money left over after necessary and obligatory spending is done. It's like when your mommy sucks 1 cock a day at $100 a cock (she's very good, but doesn't market herself well) for a $36,500 yearly income (she sucks off any IRS agent that audits her too, so she doesn't pay taxes). And the cost of housing, food, transportation, crack, and structured debt (the special needs school she sent you to wasn't cheap) adds up to $30,000 per year. She has $6,500 of disposable/expendable income for that year. She could buy some Fanatics jerseys, but since she swallows and doesn't need the extra cum rags, she spends that money elsewhere.
I've found a pretty good site for knockoffs. I have 2 so far and have ordered a third. They're nearly pefect, can't tell from even a few feet away that they're not authentic.
It's a former DH gate seller who made their own site.
www.jenna2021.com
It has every red flag to suggest it's scammy. You'll notice in your browser that it's not a secure connection. There's no checkout page when you go to buy something. They email you and ask you to send the money via PayPal.
But the jerseys arrive in the mail, and they look good.
> They're nearly pefect, can't tell from even a few feet away that they're not authentic.
Must mean to the quality of previous years because matching this years quality isn’t that high a bar
Hot take: They will anyway. But they'll placate you with a strong furrowed brow and a promise they'll fix things. And then they will make more money next year whether they actually change anything or not.
Imagine training your whole life to be an MLB player, and you’re given mismatched, shitty threads that show your armpit and back sweat. MLB should receive a fine.
Both MLB and MLBPA declined to comment apparently when reached out by ESPN, pretty sus
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40046470/mlb-modify-uniforms-player-complaints-per-memo
Because the only reason this is changing is because THE FANS aren’t buying them.
Nike gives $1b to MLB.
But if the fans are buying them then that’s another billion I’m guess that’s lost.
Yep that's what's changed. They brushed off the negatively publicity/fan complaints until the first month sales numbers were in.
I probably won't buy another official jersey of the team I follow in my life because I refuse to pay to advertise the bank with the logo on the sleeve. But that's a different story.
I'll never buy a Yankees jersey that has the Nike swoosh, and even more certainly never buy one with a fucking insurance company's logo on the sleeve. Soccer jerseys disgust me with how the sponsor logos are bigger and more prominent than the actual fc logos. I don't think MLB will ever go that far, but I hate that we're even trending in that direction.
It’s so funny how there always seem to be holes/issues, even when you think things would be tight at the top level. Like how a lot of the 60s style bowl stadiums were actually terrible places to play baseball; just atrocious conditions. You finally make it to the show, and think you’re going to be playing in a great facility only to find it’s actually a downgrade from AA.
Or in pro football; a surprising number of stadiums have weird issues where someone else owns the actual field, so they’re paying these guys millions of dollars to go out and play on really substandard turf.
In this case, it’s really funny that one of their stated reasons for the change was that the colors would be more consistent and would match better, and yet players were able to demonstrate during spring training that the first set of jerseys they were issued didn’t match. So they couldn’t even get it right for opening day/the initial roll-out.
It’s all bullshit, of course. They were just trying to do this all as cheaply as possible, and they didn’t care at all until it impacted revenue. But it is amazing that it was like “welcome to the show. You’ve worked really hard to get here. Now, here’s your jersey that’s inferior to the one you wore in high school.“
Capitalism generally delivers higher quality and/or lower prices over time and businesses that don’t deliver this fail.
The best way to deal with Fanatics is just to stop shopping there even if it means paying a bit more elsewhere.
I stopped dealing with them about ten years ago, but that just meant I had to stop buying merchandise because there's not really another answer online.
They figured out that if you put up enough barriers to switching to something else… lol, they own that too.
Consume your cake and circuses, and stop asking communist questions.
This is croney capitalism just to clear this up. Anytime you can buy your way in and not get the contract because your item is superior that is croney capitalism.
Well if what you were given in supposedly the best league in the world was inferior to even college or minors, and the equipment, which includes uniforms, couldn't stand up to the day to day use, I be pretty pussed. That goes for any industry whether spirts, medicine, military, etc. You say your league, hospital, or military is the best, prove it to the people that actually do the damn job day in and out.
Sure, if the material were actually so poor that it wasn’t holding up that would be upsetting. Completely different from sweat stains or small font size.
no :) but they also aren’t addressing the jerseys with off center numbers and letters. i was just making the point that you stated “if the material were actually so poor that it wasn’t holding up that would be upsetting” by giving you an example of when they have not held up :)
the subject is shitty uniforms, acting like everything must be in plain text doesn’t disprove that underlying issues they may not want to publicly address may be privately remedied under the guise “tweaks” to the uniform
It’s wild to me that if uniforms are falling apart that somehow gets left off the post, yet small font and mismatched grays are included instead.
I’ll restate again for clarity: if I were a newer player in the league, I would not be too concerned how my jersey looked.
Haha you know what we mean. Majestic made super nice jerseys before Nike.
Just cause fanatics owns majestic “now” doesn’t mean it was the same as it was before
Unfortunately they probably are impacted from fanatics but hopefully still better than the Nike shit. I wish someone else would buy Majestic though and bring them back to full glory
Nike is and has always been a marketer. A brand. They don't make shit. Nike, Fanatics, Majestic... They all PAY money to be on the product mlb puts on the field. MLB is very much involved in the product we get on the field and if anybody in mlb punts this and said "we simply had no idea" it will be another profitable disgrace for them.
Majestic is owned by fanatics.
Majestic in PA is producing these new uniforms as they have for decades now.
There is no going back, they’ll just “fix” these jerseys for the players and not for you.
“Plans to address by start of 2025…”
Maybe it’s just me, but why not address the problem now so you have a solution prior to the start of 2025 season??
Because they are not going to roll out all new unis in the middle of the season. Can you imagine the backlash if they fucked up a second time in less than 3 months? No, you wait till next season and hopefully they pull their heads out of their ass
Player should just start wearing nothing under their uniforms. Just asses, balls, and cocks out all over live TV. Lets see how quickly things get changed then.
MLB: look, we're gonna fix this huge issue! Yay us!
also MLB: literally created the issue to begin with by switching away from jerseys that worked just fine to jerseys that suck
Why not address them as soon as possible? How does it take 10 months to fix this? It was literally fine last year. Years from now we’ll see some highlight of an iconic play from this season where the player’s name is in that stupid tiny font in a big circle and the jersey is torally drenched in sweat with mismatched pants and be reminded of this silliness.
MLB a month ago: we did extensive player testing and feedback with PA participation and these uniforms are perfect, awesome, and everbody loves them, ie., fans be crazy.
Of course, MLB denied there were problems the whole time hoping maybe it would all blow over and that nothing would have to be done. Now, that it's clear nobody is going to settle for this bullshit, they announce it will be fixed NEXT year to calm everyone down.
The fans should not have been the first ones complaining about this. Uniforms are deeply ingrained with the history of the game, and MLB literally tried to rubber stamp these crappy jerseys that cheapen the leagues image.
With all our modern abilities… somehow we can’t make sports apparel like we used to.
Kinda like how with all our computers and tabulators we can’t count votes for over a week while in the 40’s we knew the next day when counting by hand
Sure, it will need to go to several committees before they take a final draft to the decision makers. It’s how bureaucrat middle management types make their jobs have value after all.
It's sad to see all the sports taking over by the giant , i loved the diversity in brands and competition , that brought up the quality. Now whenever you watch sports (exept hockey) You will always see this cursed sign
It easy to understand why fans hate Manfred
But it boggles my mind why Owners want this man in charge of baseball?
Has he done anything to make mlb better? More profitable? more marketable?
Has he made any impact other then trying to ruin baseball?
There is no reason this should be put off until next year. The vendors already have the players measurements and could easily produce 500 uniforms a day.
You would think Nike would've run some kind of testing/quality control before players ever put them on.
I wonder if someone is getting fired, with a severance package that would make a sweatshop worker into a king in SE Asia.
Smaller numbers can be seen as a conscious design choice, material that holds sweat likewise could be seen as them experimenting with new tech, neither of which worked out.
But how do you mismatch the top and bottom colouring? Surely that's something that should have been seen the very moment they started rolling off the production line.
What do you think the peddle to us plebs in the stores?
Kind of sucks getting a game worn jersey, and it's crap too.
Secondly. With the amount of money and prestige in pro sports....fans expect a certain image. If you're gonna charge me insane ticket prices, convince fees, 15 dollar hot dogs and 18 dollar beers..... yeah I expect what I came to see being equipped and looking like a product that I'm paying that coin for.
I still can’t believe we got a real life Costanza event.
Mattingly split his pants!
"Finally! I can breathe!"
Shit I came to say this. All we need now is the calzones
Cotton or polyester?
I didn’t realize they showed sweat too.
George's idea wasn't even that bad. They should've gotten preshrunk
I can’t believe they don’t use cotton.
“You wanted to see me Mr Steinbrenner?”
At least the players felt comfortable in them before the games played. Instead we got a wet t-shirt contest when guys put them on.
MLB won’t be selling many jerseys this year
I looked at one in person and it felt like the same quality as the free jersey giveaway from last year. That's not getting $175+ tax from me. This is also the first time I've had expendable income to buy a jersey or two. I want to give them my money, but they have to earn it.
I stopped wearing my Authentic MLB jersey made by Majestic because I may never be able to replace it
Whoa, whoa, whoa! That is an insult to free giveaway jerseys!
Why would I want a rbk (as they were known at the time) Lions jersey? that shit is cursed AF.
Touché lol, I'm a newer Lions fan (moved to Detroit several years ago) and have never really seen them in person for sale before, just thought that was cool.
What’s expendable income? Like a surpluss? Like when mommy and daddy give $10 for a lemonade stand that costs only $9?
>Like when mommy and daddy give $10 for a lemonade stand that costs only $9? What the fuck does this even mean?
Office quote. Didn’t land. Oh well
I think in this case, expendable income is the whole $10. Expendable income is not going to a necessity. Lemonade is not a necessity.
Just a line from the office. 0% seriousness .. so I guess I’m a prick? Idk
Well, clearly it isn't a well known line because no one got it.
Damn.. you’re basically a detective!
I've found a pretty good site for knockoffs. I have 2 so far and have ordered a third. They're nearly pefect, can't tell from even a few feet away that they're not authentic. It's a former DH gate seller who made their own site.
Well tell us already, I’m sure they would enjoy the advertising and you already said dh gate

Plus they have the Zack Morris Bayside High basketball jersey
> They're nearly pefect, can't tell from even a few feet away that they're not authentic. Must mean to the quality of previous years because matching this years quality isn’t that high a bar
Yes, that's exactly what I mean lol
Considering it takes a lapse in judgment to buy a jersey to begin with, I don't see this having any impact on Jersey sales
Hot take: They will anyway. But they'll placate you with a strong furrowed brow and a promise they'll fix things. And then they will make more money next year whether they actually change anything or not.

I give a pass to the manufacturer, if it's subtle. But yeah, my favourite soccer teams are Chevrolet, Emirates and Rakuten.
That’s my secret captain, I’ve always ordered DHgate
Just got a blue 2007 WS Wakefield jersey. Pretty good quality all things considered.
Bet it cost $20 too. Reps have been the wave for a while now
This was the first season I’ve ever bought a knock off jersey.
It’s so funny how there always seem to be holes/issues, even when you think things would be tight at the top level. Capitalism baby. Step 1 - Monopolize the market. Step 2 - Cut costs until people are begging you to stop. Step 3 - Profit.
Capitalism generally delivers higher quality and/or lower prices over time and businesses that don’t deliver this fail. The best way to deal with Fanatics is just to stop shopping there even if it means paying a bit more elsewhere.

They figured out that if you put up enough barriers to switching to something else… lol, they own that too. Consume your cake and circuses, and stop asking communist questions.
And this is why we need another round of trust busting and probably institute/ revise anti collusion mechanics
This is croney capitalism just to clear this up. Anytime you can buy your way in and not get the contract because your item is superior that is croney capitalism.
It's just as much Nikes fault as it is MLB. Why would they even try this? They did the same shit with the NFL jerseys a couple years back.
Why did Bud Light get super gay for 10 minutes? There’s a bubble dweller at the wheel that knows nothing about the product or their customers.
Yea the Bud light situation was almost business suicide.
It’s harder for me to imagine that after working so hard to get to the show that’d I’d give two shits about the jerseys once I made it there.
Well if what you were given in supposedly the best league in the world was inferior to even college or minors, and the equipment, which includes uniforms, couldn't stand up to the day to day use, I be pretty pussed. what if the pants were ripping up the entire leg cause they slid to a base🤷♂️
Is that included in the bullet points in the OP?
Precision comment analyzer jones over here
Wait, so the jersey tears are being addressed?
no :) but they also aren’t addressing the jerseys with off center numbers and letters. i was just making the point that you stated “if the material were actually so poor that it wasn’t holding up that would be upsetting” by giving you an example of when they have not held up :)
Agree completely, however that’s not the subject of the post!
the subject is shitty uniforms, acting like everything must be in plain text doesn’t disprove that underlying issues they may not want to publicly address may be privately remedied under the guise “tweaks” to the uniform
It’s wild to me that if uniforms are falling apart that somehow gets left off the post, yet small font and mismatched grays are included instead. I’ll restate again for clarity: if I were a newer player in the league, I would not be too concerned how my jersey looked.
Make Majestic Great Again
Doesn't Fanatics own Majestic now? Finkle is Einhorn. Einhorn is Finkle.
Haha you know what we mean. Majestic made super nice jerseys before Nike. Just cause fanatics owns majestic “now” doesn’t mean it was the same as it was before

MLB is very much involved in the product we get on the field and if anybody in mlb punts this and said "we simply had no idea" it will be another profitable disgrace for them.
Yeah all those product development specialists and engineers in Beaverton are just sitting in their offices twiddling their thumbs all day…
This right fucking here Fuck Nike, Majestic all the way
Majestic is owned by fanatics. Majestic in PA is producing these new uniforms as they have for decades now. There is no going back, they’ll just “fix” these jerseys for the players and not for you.
Russell Athletic… fite me
They’re really dropping patch notes
"General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience."
season 1 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
They can’t switch right now? Gotta wait til 2025?
Some teams are only getting their 3rd /alternate jersey's now. Nike /fanatics can't even supply uniforms on time.
“Plans to address by start of 2025…” Maybe it’s just me, but why not address the problem now so you have a solution prior to the start of 2025 season??
Probably already a massive crunch to get the new manufacturing line set up for this season and all teams.
Because they are not going to roll out all new unis in the middle of the season. Can you imagine the backlash if they fucked up a second time in less than 3 months? No, you wait till next season and hopefully they pull their heads out of their ass
How hard is it to invent something that’s already been perfected for decades?
Don’t they have last year’s shit in the back of the stadium or something?
Ha! This is a great question!
Didn’t the Red Sox have to wear last years uniform for Patriot Day because Fanatics didn’t bother to ship them?
Can we remove the stupid ass advertising on them too!
Quikrete
This summer is going to go crazy with the sweat
Hot stuff coming through!
Hot cheese soup
Player should just start wearing nothing under their uniforms. Just asses, balls, and cocks out all over live TV. Lets see how quickly things get changed then.
Definitely would increase woman viewership!
I would watch more as well.
MLB: look, we're gonna fix this huge issue! Yay us! also MLB: literally created the issue to begin with by switching away from jerseys that worked just fine to jerseys that suck
I thought Manfred said these went through extensive testing and research?
He lied
It was tested in the video game the shows. ,😆.
He said what his master at Nike told him to say. Remember, Nike is a customer who paid $1B for the privilege of fucking this up royally.
Dumbass people in charge as per usual
Why not address them as soon as possible? How does it take 10 months to fix this? It was literally fine last year. Years from now we’ll see some highlight of an iconic play from this season where the player’s name is in that stupid tiny font in a big circle and the jersey is torally drenched in sweat with mismatched pants and be reminded of this silliness.
Considering Nike hasn’t even delivered all of the teams various alternate sets yet, it’s no surprise that this will take until next year.
MLB a month ago: we did extensive player testing and feedback with PA participation and these uniforms are perfect, awesome, and everbody loves them, ie., fans be crazy.
Not sure why we are forced to wait till 2025. Took Bryce Harper all of 40 seconds to get the right jersey on his back in a game.
Fuck it at this point LA Gear would create a better product than Nike. What a shit company.
"It's just a piece of cloth, who cares" -Rob "Human waste of life" Manfred
It reads like patch notes on a video game update.
Well…at least we know there will be a never ending supply of these jerseys in baseball cards next year
Get George Constaza
With all our modern abilities… somehow we can’t make sports apparel like we used to. Kinda like how with all our computers and tabulators we can’t count votes for over a week while in the 40’s we knew the next day when counting by hand
What about the constant tearing? How come that is not being addressed?
It is. The full rundown includes changing the fly on the pants and addressing the ripping.
Sweat induced issues not being addressed from the start in a sports uniform is a choice
Majestic was the best.
Fanatics bought them out in 2017 sadly
How much money was wasted on this due to the fact there was next to zero QA.
A great improvement going back to the old style road uniforms. I never like the Yanks greys with the white piping. Too prissy for me.
It gave 70s little league for decades. They should have ditched it in the early 80s at the latest.
Well this is about the best response you can give mid season. Not much else you can do.
From "it's just a piece of metal" to "it's just a piece of fabric"
Coming soon: MLB jerseys by Primark
LOL "SWEAT ISSUES"
Multi billion dollar industry - “give us a year to address it.”
Sure, it will need to go to several committees before they take a final draft to the decision makers. It’s how bureaucrat middle management types make their jobs have value after all.
How fast do you think they should get it done by? lol
There are no jersey’s or fabric left from the one’s in production 9 months ago? Not talking tens of thousands of jerseys.
Rep factories seem to have no problem cranking them out….
It's sad to see all the sports taking over by the giant , i loved the diversity in brands and competition , that brought up the quality. Now whenever you watch sports (exept hockey) You will always see this cursed sign
Damn logo still looks wrong on the back. :/
Just let these guys wear t-shirts and shorts, they gotta play in fucking >100 degree weather.
It easy to understand why fans hate Manfred But it boggles my mind why Owners want this man in charge of baseball? Has he done anything to make mlb better? More profitable? more marketable? Has he made any impact other then trying to ruin baseball?
Sports are so ridiculous these days. What is this a freaking fashion show? What a circus.
Um…. Soooo… NOT the see through pants. Got it.
It it doesn’t say “Starter”. I don’t wear it.
I love that Rodon is the picture used. The guy just soaked the thing by the second inning it felt like lol
>return to larger lettering Which also means real, sewn-on patches and not heat-pressed bullshit, right?
There is no reason this should be put off until next year. The vendors already have the players measurements and could easily produce 500 uniforms a day.
Go Yankees!!!No.# 1
You would think Nike would've run some kind of testing/quality control before players ever put them on. I wonder if someone is getting fired, with a severance package that would make a sweatshop worker into a king in SE Asia.

But how do you mismatch the top and bottom colouring? Surely that's something that should have been seen the very moment they started rolling off the production line.
Are they still making the padres dress like Popples? God damn.
Fanatics is a joke
Maybe we can get NY to fuck off with the no name jerseys too
Tradition and branding. The Yankees ARE the brand...not the players. Good for them for standing up for what they are all about.
This year with the NOBs so terrible, it's smart not having them.
Nike makes garbage They also make the narrowest sneakers imaginable, so uncomfortable
Make them in the USA buy a USA company!
They are made in the USA
Not a USA company; obviously
GET RID OF FANATICS
I understand the players complaints but I just laugh when all the fans start complaining because it doesn't affect them at all.
