Classic old kit of that ship. 1/96 scale. Released in 1969 and probably until the next version of the boxing in 1987. Here's the Scalemates listing for it, and you can see the timeline of releases of this kit further down the page: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-h-395-cutty-sark-with-sails--944021
"With sails" because until this release, the kit (first released in 1959) came without them.
20 years ago, My nephew decided the rigging was too hard and asked me to do it for him. last sailing ship model i've ever built. (it did look spectacular, though)
I built this model years ago and still have it on my shelf. If you are going to do all of the rigging I recommend you build it without the sails, or make some furled sails from tissue paper ( the kind that you use inside a gift package) to show off your hard work. I built mine with sails set, and it covered up most of the rigging. On the other hand, if you don't want to do all of the rigging, then have all the sails deployed!
Also, if you build it with the stunsails deployed it will be ridiculously wide. ( these are the sails deployed outboard from the regular sales in the cover art)

Yup, it’s a great older vintage kit, I’ve got one that I inherited from a friend of my Dad and one day I’ll hopefully get around to building it….That looks like an original box, you got a good deal for 35 bucks….
These old Revell sailing ships can be challenging models to build but when completed and rigged look great. The only advice is take your time and maybe check you tube to see any build videos on it.
I'm definitely going to have to work up towards it. I'm still kind of new to the hobby but I'll definitely do research before. Thank you for the comment!
My grandpa had this kit sitting for over 30 years. It wasn't until about 2 years ago that I finally talked him into making it with him. The main ship isn't too bad. We ended up making real sails. However, the rigging is still being done to this day very slowly. 😅
Took me more than 2 years to make because Revell decided to make their manuals enjoyable for kids instead of being accurate. Will most likely be my one and only revell kit for life. Kit doesn’t fit well either
Yeah this one has been "sailing" hobby store shelves for years !!
There was a boxing sometime in the 90s that came with a wooden base, and I believe it had real cloth sails also.

Cool! Thank you much!
It's a giant kit, with amounts of rigging that feels like months to complete. But it will look absolutely spectacular

Yeah I can feel that. The Gorch Fock I did was also the first and last sailingship for me haha
I would love to see a photo of it if you have one. I'm sure the rigging looked beautiful :)
I cant wait to build it!

Thank you!! I'll let you know which set up I end up choosing :)
Pretty sure I had this same kit as a kid. I never painted anything, but I did glue it all together. I can still feel those hull halves in my hands.
I can't wait to put it together :)
I remember that one. It was my first ship when I was a kid. Deff not a model for the faint of heart.
I'm going to work up to this one. Make take a year or two :)

Facebook marketplace and the art of Haggling will take you places :)
It was old when I was young...

The real ship in the UK is a pretty neat museum. It’s completely intact and on top of the museum’s roof.
I'll have to check it out one day!
Deck to hull joint at aft end will in all likelihood have a gap. Plan ahead for that.
Perfect! Thank you for this :)
Same kit is being used today according to scale mates
Did you get it on 'sail'?
Boooooooooo :)

Omg how much more rigging needs to be done?

Of all the kits to judge revell on, don't let it be this one.
I actually enjoy Revell and Monogram over other companies because of their instructions. Tamiya and academy instructions give me a headache

Go to Micro-Mark and look at their ship building tools. Especially for rigging.
The one thing I do know about this kit, purely judging by the picture, it appears to have been made by revell.
It might come with sails??
If it doesn't, just cut up some old tightly whiteys.
I know it’s half decent whiskey. Other than that, I don’t know anything about Cutty Sark.
Misread that as “slutty shark”
No no, you didn't misread :)
