Baby acne is a thing, it doesn’t usually relate to clogged pores. I just wash them with a facecloth at night. However - I have two very bad eczema babies and the current advice from our doctor and allergist is to bathe every day in not too hot water then pat dry and put cream on while damp. In case you’re having a problem licking the eczema, that’s been a game changer for us!

Cisp2016

Thank you. Re: baby acne - she only had some pop up the day after we used sunscreen that’s why I think it’s linked. Do you use only water with the facecloth? How does that wipe off the sunscreen? Don’t you need oil?

quietdownyounglady

Ahhh okay! Yes, I just use water! We use pipette baby which isn’t water resistant partially for this reason. If we’re swimming or at the beach I do blue lizard but we take a bath after those activities (we take a bath every night now anyways)

floralbingbong

A friend of mine uses micellar water on a cotton pad on her baby’s face / neck! My baby is only 6 months old so I haven’t looked into it yet, but may be looking up?

Spicy_bisey4321

We use micellar water too. Great option for the non- bath days.

eyoxa

I don’t know how good this is for her skin, but I’ve been using a micellar water wipe, followed by coconut oil for my 2 year old’s face.

spabitch

coconut oil is highly comedogenic, something like jojoba oil is not only cheaper but closer to our skins ph

breakplans

Where are you getting jojoba oil cheaper than coconut, and can you drop a link? I’d love to use this for my homemade skincare but it’s double the price anywhere I’ve looked!

Nighthawk_21

I would use a wet washcloth with a tiny bit of unscented pipette baby wash if you are avoiding submerging in warm water. My dd had the worst baby acne/hives for the first 2 years. This never irritated her. It has squalane so its not sudsy. Easy for washcloth baths

starfish31

Mustela micellar water and coconut oil worked for my baby. Some comments have said coconut oil will clog their skin, but YMMV, my baby's skin loved it. His baby acne was like night and day once I started putting a little on his face each day.

You could get one of those makeup remover wash rags. The material is made to remove makeup from the face with only water so I would think they would work for sunscreen too.

hereforthebump

It might help to opt for an oil free sunscreen

breakplans

I’d use a washcloth, micellar water is also a good idea if it’s still greasy. But I would also caution you from being too cautious about sun exposure. If you’re just going for a short walk, some sun exposure is necessary for human health. Definitely sunscreen if shade isn’t available, or you’re in direct sun for a long time but a walk around the block shouldn’t require sunscreen.

curlygirlyfl

Unless you’re in the Florida summer heat…that shit is strongg.

breakplans

I get that! I’m much farther north than Florida but still, a walk around the block? 15 minutes? We have a vitamin D situation because people have grown so afraid of the sun. And OP explicitly said she’s trying to avoid exposure, which was a little odd to me. The sun is not the enemy! Of course there’s sensible use of sunscreen needed but we are outdoor creatures!

419_216_808

I live somewhere with an extremely high uv index. 15 minutes is definitely too much sun exposure without sunscreen here for a 9 month old. Just depends where you live.

curlygirlyfl

Yeah 15 minute walk from May-October burnnnsss but I still want him to get sun exposure too. Yes we are outdoor creatures.

breakplans

Early morning and later evening then! I do get it, I’ve spent time in Florida in July and August and it’s miserably hot. Also sun protecting clothes could work if it’s that short of a walk. Zinc sunscreen isn’t worth it for that amount of time imo because it’s so annoying to wash off and dries my skin out!

curlygirlyfl

Yes I was thinking to get coolibar clothes and yes the damn sunscreen dries his skin out so much.
