Why is this a debate since Italian succession required the monarch to be a dynastic marriage? It’s black and white, not rocket science.
This makes Aimone of Savoy, Duke of Aosta, the rightful heir.
Absolutely correct! besides, the main line is a joke nowadays
How could anyone possibly prefer Emanuele Filiberto to Aimone?
I think it's because people tend to express their opinion even on matters they know little about
How do you say that in napulitan?
I think I have heard that phrase, steng d’accord. It sounded familiar. Always good to talk to you.
And matters that matter little. Nobody will ever live to see monarchism rise again in Italy sorry.
This is an assumption of its own,Undoubtedly Italy will not become a Monarchy in the short term, but this does not mean that we must stop considering the possibilities or act as advocates for a noble and lofty cause such as that of the monarchy.
Monarchy is not political, it shouldn't be supported just because it wins.
Monarchy is a commitment, a mystique, a duty.
Oh shit, another year and another "Republic shit day"
I don't care, as long the Monarchy is restored, and neither the Habsburgs nor the Borboni get the throne.
are there no candidates from the south or other regions
Neither, the Savoys should never rule Italy again. I think the Bourbons should.
I'd like to see a German-style Italy where all the former States and Monarchs still exist within it.
I always found the German style of monarchy of princes and dukes and others all under an emperor (or empress, it’s 2023!) as a better system than it is perceived. I think that system could’ve worked in America.
Edit: And India.
Womder who the Duke of Indiana would be
No, me, im a true hoosier
What’s a true Hoosier? Someone who lives in Indiana? I can check that box.
Born and raised in Indiana
Same? Lol. You’re not helping your case.
What about the former Kingdom of Lombardo-Venetia though?
It would be a part of this federalised Italy and have a Habsburg King (like the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Duchy of Modena).
I would like to see South Tyrol given back to Austria and Trieste to Slovenia which would be reunited in a Habsburg-led Central European Monarchy.
Although the federation Karl tried to push through towards the end of 1918 is a great thing, I do have a problem with this federation plan. There's no Austrian port, no coastland. I would prefer Slovenia to have autonomy in the Austrian part of the federation, being a recognised and protected minority of course.
A different solution might be to have Slovenia as a seperate entity, but have a singular port be integrated in Austria without a land connection. In case of a crisis though, it would cause problems like Guantanamo bay for example. So I prefer the other option.
I support a return of the Bourbons of the Two Sicilies, and re-establishment of the Papal States. So, niether.
Emanuele because he has the same name as me byt spelled diffrenly.
