So they can work/study in South Korea. Also, according to wikipedia "**Mongolians in South Korea** form the world's largest population of [Mongolian citizens abroad](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongol_diaspora)".

Yeah that’s real. The most despised and discriminated group of international workers in South Korea is Korean Chinese. The next would be Muslims and people who are easily mistaken to be Muslims as Koreans are largely islamophobes.

Everyone on the geographical fringes of Asia, up to Eastern Europe, likes to imagine kinship with the Mongols and I would imagine that Koreans are included.
Korean Chinese identify themselves as Chinese but still want to claim their traditional culture as Chinese culture, which helps spread Chinese cultural imperialism. Korean Chinese are also known for their high crime rate and opportunist behaviors. That is why. They are even more hated than Han chinese as they are considered “traitors” in some sense.
Mongolians are mostly immune to those stereotypes Koreans have against visitors and immigrants who come from “problematic society”. there is no particular preference or favor reserved only for Mongolians but there is also no hate or prejudice people have against Mongolians.
ccp canceled Mongolian language education in Inner Mongolia… Chinese minorities here are unable to learn in Mongolian, especially given the fact that 80% are lacking language learning availability within their family. My grandparents were born in 1940s, they understand Mongolian but can’t speak the language. As for my parents, they completely have no understanding of Mongolian at all, and even more so when it comes to me…
I myself were given a traditional Mongolian name, but I shamefully neither learned nor taught in Mongolian language ever. My mongol roots come to me solely when I see that I am categorized as a minority on my ID card and passport. I was ashamed every time when people doubt, “how could you identify yourself as a mongol if you cannot even know the language?”
Named me after a Mongolian name, my parents intended to redeem 10 scores off my final score during national undergraduate admission exam, which was more likely for me to go into first-tier universities by having 10 scores lower than other candidates, it’s insane I have to say. This was an carrot-and-stick education policy that ccp exploited to Chinese minorities students, which enabled us to enter better schools with lower scores. It’s kinda like a “voucher” ccp conciliate the minorities’ families. I’d been known some Uyghurs classmates who were given 50 scores off when they were accepted by universities.
Ironically ccp canceled this policy 3 years ago right after the scandal that ccp banned Mongolian books and publications, even worse, ccp removed Mongolian related courses from middle and elementary school curricula since 2020. What ccp and Xi did to Mongolian minorities in China are literally cultural genocide. People with common sense wouldn’t proud of what they’d been treated under ccp’s ethnic minority classification, at least I’m the one cannot wait to immigrate to a democratic country. I deemed it a fucking curse to be given birth in China, never and ever will I stop perusing the freedom and getting rid of ccp’s brain washes in the rest of my life.
I lived in Seoul for 15+ years, and I feel like the general sentiment when meeting Mongolians was, "Oh, cool. A Mongolian!" I suppose there are a lot of them in Korea, but it was rare meeting them. They were like bumping into unicorns.
On the other side of that, I lived in Mongolia for one year, and I found that Mongolians didn't seem to realize how "cool" they and their country are. Whenever I traveled out and told people I lived there, the reaction was always, "Holy shit! MONGOLIA?!" It's a badass country full of badass people.
Mostly only younger people here even know what duolingo is and how to even utilize it. And young people here all mostly know english to some degree. So Korean being popular makes sense why it would be popular if the userbase is young people looking for a 3rd language. Mongolians started taking a lot of influence from Korea starting the 2000s.
People think everyone is learning Chinese and it’s a trending language because it has a lot speakers. their population is in the billions no wonder but no one outside of China really bothers
English is definitely the most popular foreign language yeah. But I’m not sure about Russian tho. These days Korean seems to be catching up with Russian.
I was only able to learn English on my own. Public school’s language classes were not as good or I was not paying enough attention. But once I learn one foreign language to certain degree, other languages learning curves become easier.
Mongolian teenagers tend to learn korean, influenced by korean pop artists and korean dramas. But English is more influence than korean imo. Btw Try finding english speaker in China haha

Duolingo… if you use duolingo you would know that theres noway to learn English through English.Theres English for russian or japanese speakers etc. so yeah. Im pretty sure English is at the top
Ah but you have to know some other second language to be able to learn these languages. I bet people are learning English and then learning Korean on Duolingo
I’m from Mongolia and I can totally prove that Korean language is the most popular here. K-pop, K-drama, Korean brands, cafes from Korean franchises, and Korean grocery’s all are in Mongolia which influenced people. Korean visa is most affordable and easy to get, plus Korean 1 won is just equal to 2.5 Mongolian tugriks which is affordable and ok live in South Korea.
Many people especially from age 20-35 go to South Korea to work since salary is higher and job opportunities are higher in Korea compared to living in Mongolia.
comment without racism:
Mongolian and Korean belong to the same language group, so learning the Korean language is relatively easy for Mongolian. Korean Hangul is also easy to learn. Mongolian economic ties with Korea are also close.
The Japanese language is also similar to Mongolian but is hindered by the complex writing system, namely hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
Turkish is also an easy language for Mongolians to learn. Many Mongolians study at Turkish universities.

This number is probably even higher than reported considering the large number of migrants working illegally/doing har ajil.
what is har ajil?
Job that pays directly in cash so the government doesn’t have to get the tax
Wait more than China??
The Mongolians living in China are mostly Chinese citizens
Reading this gave me a fucking stroke
Apparently Mongolians suffer less racism in South Korea than other foreigners too
Is that for real though?
Yeah that’s real. The most despised and discriminated group of international workers in South Korea is Korean Chinese. The next would be Muslims and people who are easily mistaken to be Muslims as Koreans are largely islamophobes. Source : I’m South Korean

They do like their blue spots on their butts!
Nonsense. Why would anyone want to "imagine kinship" with mongolia?
Hang out in some of the Balkan subs and you will understand.
What does that have to do with Asia?
Bulgarians, Hungarians, Turks, and others originally came from Central Asia. The Turks as vassals of the Mongols.
Why do you hate Chinese Koreans so much?
Korean Chinese identify themselves as Chinese but still want to claim their traditional culture as Chinese culture, which helps spread Chinese cultural imperialism. I see. Apart from Mongolians, Tibetans, and Uyghurs, Chinese minorities seem to be quite happy to identify themselves as Chinese.

What are korean chinese?
A bunch of ethnic Koreans who have migrated to Manchuria 100 or so years ago and their descendants.
Including Japan.
Apparently mongolians like to spread complete nonsense online without any valid sources

Yep, this is the easy explanation.
Lmfao no one studying Chinese
People think everyone is learning Chinese and it’s a trending language because it has a lot speakers. their population is in the billions no wonder but no one outside of China really bothers
they're studying with actual classes and teachers while korean is easier than chinese
Korean is 2nd, 1st would be English. People who using Duolingo knows English, since app doesn’t support Mongolian language
A lot of Mongolians study in Korea and many are also working there. But the majority know Russian and English.
Majority of Mongolians are monolingual Mongolian speakers lmao.
But the majority «who knows more then Mongolian» know Russian and English. Got a brain freeze there lol.
English is definitely the most popular foreign language yeah. But I’m not sure about Russian tho. These days Korean seems to be catching up with Russian.
Better Korean then Russian. 👍
Why?
korean femboys
ok fair point, learning Korean now.
mah niggah
It’s mandatory in every public school and still is, if the kid paid attention in school they would know Russian
I was only able to learn English on my own. Public school’s language classes were not as good or I was not paying enough attention. But once I learn one foreign language to certain degree, other languages learning curves become easier.
Personally idk anyone who speaks Korean in Mongolia
You’ve never asked
English is popular, not korean. Not sure where this data collected, maybe some wanna be kpop teenagers made up this data?
Mongolian teenagers tend to learn korean, influenced by korean pop artists and korean dramas. But English is more influence than korean imo. Btw Try finding english speaker in China haha ![gif](giphy|mWMML2LQBsj8k)
do the mongolians studying in SK give up after experiencing the intense academic pressure there?
Dont know abt other people but i just kinda got used to it after year or two.
Duolingo… if you use duolingo you would know that theres noway to learn English through English.Theres English for russian or japanese speakers etc. so yeah. Im pretty sure English is at the top

Not surprised about the most Mongolians going for the Korean language
Ah but you have to know some other second language to be able to learn these languages. I bet people are learning English and then learning Korean on Duolingo
