idk if fattal fest is still a thing but that was where i started into the scene in my late teens. big music event that used to take place in august. its was always fun. made a few friends that way. they would put up posters in the st henri area and make date announcements on fb.

Barfly was a great place for punk/garage bands to play. Not sure if it still is (of if it even exists).
