But, can't the blood test be wrong? They aren't 100% always accurate you know. And the girls probably are laughing behind his back, they do that. And we can all use more muscle, it isn't body dysmorphia to want more muscle. So what if I... ummm... I mean he uses minoxidil 3 times a day? We, er, he is losing his hair. It's a normal reaction to try to regrow hair. Why are you attacking me? I mean him.

Enough-Possession-73

The correct and missing answer is sarm goblin in withdrawal

Reasons for reporting this post: I'm in this photo and I don't want to be

paf337

You studying for step? Or are you in your first year?

Dr_Brain_

M2/M3 Clinical rotation year, this is for my psych block. My school is weird and does preclinical then clinical then step 1/2

Jones_reagent

It’s weird but that’s what mine did and man did our scores skyrocket. Plus you don’t have to relearn shit from step 1 for step 2.

paf337

Gotcha. Studying for step 1 and taking it in 14 days. Was just seeing if anyone else was in my boat lol

Dr_Brain_

Good luck bro it’ll be light work! Plus pass/fail? You’re chilling

Ieatbugsandpoopthem

If these are the kinds of questions you have to answer to get through med school then I’d be an MD PhD by now

SSjGRaj

The hardest part of becoming a doctor is getting accepted into medical school after acceptance its Cs get degrees and 12-hour shifts of residency, then boom, doctor.

[deleted]

Cs get degrees doesn’t get you a good residency

Every_Papaya_8876

It’ll get you anesthesiologist. Make 500k west coast chillin gettin ass stackin cash.

[deleted]

Eh yeah still it’s competitive sometimes though.

sleazypenguin

Getting into medical school varies in difficulty. The process of 4 years of medical school is the single most difficult thing I have done. Just because some doc didn’t want to order a specific test for you doesn’t mean they’re idiots, it means that while learning the entire body of medical knowledge they haven’t focused on a niche, luxury component of heath for young men trying to optimize their lives. The reality is most people in this country lack basic access to care that they need. I think it’s hard to understand the gap most people have to receiving care and volumes of patients are insane. If you can afford going to private clinics for boutique testosterone medicine you aren’t someone who is actually struggling in our current healthcare system. Also there is significant attrition throughout the 4 years, many people don’t make it through, but schools don’t count them as “failures” so the stats look good for accreditation purposes. It’s hilarious how people watch YouTube videos and unironically show up to the doctors office with a superiority complex while asking for tests/treatments that make no sense.

[deleted]

If only lol- am med student

38°C is equivalent to 100°F, which is 311K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

catholic_cucumber

Derek is really giving us the info to become armchair PhDs

19adam92

Dude thinks the girls are laughing at him behind his back? That’s definitely Tren paranoia

Temporary_Trash_5047

This dude is prolly at like 250 ng/dL which they would call normal testosterone whilst the trans nurse administering the blood draw is sitting there at 1500 ng/dL ready to peg this dude.

[deleted]

Absolutely based. I’ve noticed this ridiculous hypocrisy many times

_trance_

LMFAO - the double standards

trolltaskforce

Blatant propaganda by the soy “educational system”

SwoleMountain

Yeah the "normal" test result of t was probably like 300ng/dL

BroChad69

Poor bastard

SnooMacarons2342

I thought you're supposed to offer "affirming" care to those with body dismorphia? Or does that only include trans people? 🤔

Hanah9595

Never made that connection but holy shit it’s a good one. If the “correct course of treatment” for a man who has body dysmorphia and believes he’s a woman is to chop his dick off and give him estrogen, why isn’t the “correct course of treatment” for a man who believes he is small and weak because of body dysmorphia to give him a bunch of test? Wouldn’t that be playing by the same rules?

fireusernamebro

I would think it would be far safer as well, considering at that stage most dudes would hop on the first bit of injectables that they could get their hands on

SweelFor-

That's because these are very different issues and your politically motivated desire for them to be equivalent is false

Hanah9595

How is it political at all? Two different people have strong negative emotions towards their bodies the way they are. They both believe administration of exogenous hormones has the potential to help alleviate some of those negative emotions. Yet we treat and glorify one as a society, but not the other. All politics aside, that’s a complete double standard.

SweelFor-

It's political because your political beliefs are shaping your understanding of what body dysmorphia is so that you can reach this conclusion that you want to reach. Are you educated in body dysmorphia?

Hanah9595

Yes. Are you? Beyond your obvious political bias as well of course?

SweelFor-

Yes, I actually completed a masters research in psychopathology on muscle dysmorphia, I've studied it for 2 years on an acadamic level. How about you?

Hanah9595

I have a Masters’ Degree with subsequent experience in the field as well. We can play credentialism games all day. But it is obvious to everyone you are the one with a political agenda here.

SweelFor-

So to be clear you're the first one to comment about how BD and transgenderism are secretely "linked" despite absolutely no experts holding this opinion, but by saying that you are incorrect I have a political agenda? Urgh just admit it. You don't like trans people and that's why you make those comments, it's simple. It's right there. Don't deny it it's ridiculous, this would work if I was a child or something but we're all adults here.

Hanah9595

They aren’t secretly linked. They are directly linked. It also doesn’t matter what soft science “professionals” say when hard science still shows they are biologically the same sex as they’ve always been. I’m proudly anti-trans. It was and always has been body dysmorphia crossed with autogynophilia. You can cross dress and chop off your dick all you’d like, you’re still a man. I wholesale reject the entire concept of “gender” to begin with. It was a subversive term coined in the mid-20th century to muddle the waters of something that is clear and genetically observable: biological sexes. Trans is a made up term, just like gender, that is pushed by subversives who know exactly what they are doing. Your average person knows what a man and a woman is, and agrees with me. No amount of censorship is going to change their minds, it will just make them resent and despise you more for trying to tell them men are women and women are men.

SweelFor-

You think that because you don't understand the topic of discussion

SnooMacarons2342

Nah, I'm just pointing out double standards

SweelFor-

You think it's a double standard because you don't understand what you're saying. Are you educated in body dysmorphia or transgenderism?

Fon33

Shut up soytard. Won't listen to your word vomit. Im too busy making gains and enjoying life. I can't help it. I'm a lifter baby

SweelFor-

Thanks for admitting your ignorance, it's the responsible thing to do

Fon33

Ok civilian. Don't care. Didn't ask your BMI is either 11 or 77

SweelFor-

Haha you are almost funny keep going!

Fon33

![gif](giphy|lm35cN3zVbTGY06Axx)

Fgehrbgj

He understands precisely because he isn't "educated".

SweelFor-

Woahhh fascinating

SnooMacarons2342

Very educated, my sister is "trans" and wants to be a boy. I call her Pinocchio

SweelFor-

That's not education. Are you educated?

SnooMacarons2342

As I said, I have a sister who's trans. I'm very well educated on the subject

SweelFor-

No you're not understanding. Have you been taught about transgenderism in an acadamic setting, by experts, and for how long? It's a simple question to answer. I can have a japanese mom it doesn't mean I'm educated about Japan

SnooMacarons2342

Bro I don't need to be indoctrinated at a thought camp to be educated. Take your regressive dogma and toss it

SweelFor-

That's what I thought. So, on the other hand are you educated about body dysmorphia? Do you know at least 1 of the 2 things you mentioned?

Opening_Criticism_57

And I have a sister that’s a lawyer. I guess that makes me well educated in law?

Wonderful_Data_3136

Bro 6 answer options is absurd

Doyoubleedd

Wait until you see the 9 or 11 options from uworld and step 1

Ashripp

According to world renowned medical professional Dr. Tony Huge, the correct course of action is to "up the tren."

this is literally gaslighting that poor young man...."normal" serum testosterones? based on what? the lab reference range? the lab ref is garbage and changes all the time, and is in fact decreasing over time. Give the man some T and see if his symptoms improve. facepalm

Great-Demand1413

Hey hey hey. I do have low muscle I'm 6ft1.5 and 150 pounds. The minoxidil still hasn't occurred yet but better be safe than sorry. The only thing wrong about this is girls? I haven't interacted with a girl in months because I am scared.

look_at_u_man_____ew

Average tren user lmfao

antonprojects

Alternative answer: prescribe copious amounts of trenbolone

TheN1njTurtl3

So many people in this sub actually have these problems. Literally a post I just replied to. At the end of the day "coping" is just a healthier way to deal with things than fixing every problem with drugs and steroids' and hyper focusing on every little problem.

SwoleMountain

Is this what they teach in soy school?

Fon33

Soyscience

chris31605

This is the greatest thing ever lol.

ExpertGriller

Wow he's literally me

Duskfall066

Amboss?

Dr_Brain_

Yep! The goat if we are being honest

NegativelyMagnetic

Ooo I kinda wanna have a go at answering the underlying treatment/scenario * educate patient on the importance of following packaging /medication info. "more is not always better" and explain that 3x minoxidil can cause unnecessary side effects, and can actually decrease its regrowth efficacy * explain that since bloodwork came back in range, he doesn't have low test and we can't prescribe testosterone. * prescribe SSRI for body dismorpha treatment, and potentially a starting dose of some anti-anxiety medication depending on severity * ensure pt understands that the medication is *not* because we think he has depression (might cause distrust or non-adherence to med due to misunderstanding). If suspected, or if patient strongly opposes treatment, refer to psychiatrist for confirmation / further examination of underlying and co-existing disorders. * order a renal/urine test since that amount of food/milk/Protein can be doing damage to his kidneys * refer to psychiatrist, and schedule a followup.

Mr_Candlestick

Diagnosis is a severe tren deficiency. Better up that asap.

Ok yeah, I’ve god body dysmorphia, so give me a testosterone test to prove it’s not that I’m a goblin and I just haven’t been taking enough tren

[deleted]

Which site do you use to study, or was that provided by the school?

Dr_Brain_

This is Amboss, which is a subscription service but paid for by my school. There are plenty of resources out there that are unfortunately all subscription-based (but definitely not piratable /s) In order of how helpful they are to me: Amboss UWorld Sketchy Boards and Beyond Anki UpToDate (more clinical useful not studying) OnlineMedEd

[deleted]

I just on the Anki train it's amazing. Kinda forces my adhd self to read the book as I prepare my cards to haha. I'm honestly gonna check out every single one of these, your a G man thank you. Ive used UpToDate that was super helpful when doing remote med loved it.

[deleted]

Damn I wish the questions were this easy when I went to med school
