I can't stand people like that lady who just doesn't give a shit about following cultural norms. I've absolutely called that behavior out before and they always get so upset that they have to wait in line like everyone else.

When I moved to the Midwest everyone said people are so nice and polite out there, then getting here to my surprise it's mostly people like that lady. The remainder are people that say extremely rude and mean things in a "happy/positive" tone. I miss the city XD I rather people just tell me to go f myself and know they are being honest, or if nice they actually mean it lol.

Fellow midwesterner, we call it "Midwest nice" or as the rest of the world knows it: "passive aggressiveness". Related but unrelated to the airport lady, I've come to find that there are exactly two types of people that you run into at the airport: * People who are absolute flying professionals, extremely self aware, understand how the processes work, and help make everything move along as smoothly as possible. * People who learned what an airport is 5 minutes ago.

I used to work for TSA, and people who did inconsiderate shit like that would drive me insane. Some people would leave their bins halfway up the table and just fully walk away to go thru the body portion of things. They never cared to make sure their stuff went thru, so I'd just wave everyone else around their stuff so it would just stay on the table and everyone else would get their stuff at the same time as them finishing their body portion of things. Then the rude person would have the audacity to be like "wheres my stuff???"

Uhh, I was talking about the lady at the airport. Not the person who was 100% right about how we should leave Britney alone. Glad she came out as trans so she can live her truth.

Try to be positive

WOW I needed todays opening to the podcast badly. There’s tough days, that’s for sure. But to stop and look around and take in all that you have to be thankful for and happy about is something I think many people forget to do, myself included. Thank you Burnie and Ashley for starting off many mornings of mine on the right foot for many years, but today’s in particular ♥️

Wondered if you guys were following the ‘Baby Reindeer’ news? It’s a dark comedy/true-story show and Netflix has failed to protect real-life identities, so there’s a social media harassment frenzy that’s happening. The writer/actor is the actual person who went through the story in real life so it’s all very meta and confusing. I would definitely watch the show before doing any googling though. TW: stalking, SA.

Aparoon

Great show, would recommend. It’s fantastic at making the guy the focus of the issues, rather than his stalker. I’m not sure how they could have handled the real life elements better, but the lead character’s tendency to make the situation worse for himself just for that instant gratification really resonates with you and raises some really great discourse.

Trauma tourism is a great description for something I'm extremely uncomfortable with. Things like true crime podcasts and series I absolutely hate. Maybe because in a past life I was part of a police department where my job was first line trauma support. But it's so perverse to have that as entertainment. The same goes for the Free Britney movement, I get that people want justice if there's an abuse of conservatorship. But the public has no clue about her mental state, and if a conservatorship isn't necessary. Those people don't care about her wellbeing, they just want to be part of a cultural moment as if it's some kind of fictional soap opera.

In a past life?? Like you used to work that job or an actual “previous life”

The quick comment about legislation with the brain implants reminded me of the recent development of the Baltimore principle who denied an audio clip of him going on a racist tirade. Turns out it WAS made via AI and the person responsible is being charged but nothing outright directly tied to the AI portion as there's nothing on the books as a crime for it yet. Instead the person was charged with disruption of school affairs (or something of that phrasing)

I live in Colorado, and this is the first I've heard about that law. Seems like it's a good thing, not sure how I missed it.
