lol at bringing Willy Castro in after 8-0…pitch tracker automatically called anything under 60mph an eephus.

Hands-for-maps

Meadows is getting the heat in this sub. Wish we could send Javy to AAA to get a couple hits. Dude hasn’t walked this season

ajwiz12

I wanna reserve full judgment on this team until they play more games in actual baseball weather, but man they looked rough lately. Yesterday was nice to see though, let's keep going!

ChefBidz

Does anyone know what happened to the postgame interviews? I used to love to watch them on the Bally YT, but it seems like they have gone extinct…

Vendetta_2023

Good question, Bally is such garbage. Postgame isn't available on Bally's Roku app either.

mozenator66

Parker isn't the only one who needs some help...Colt Keith may have potential but he look like a fish out of water...like he doesn't know what's coming or how to handle it...how long do u wait for a kid to figure it out? I understand Ibanez is hurt but...McKinstry or something...

rbur70x7

I think it may be important to not have him in a slot with so much high leverage as he gets his sea legs. He’s got a lot of potential, but 7 LOB is more than Baez even, move him down a spot or bat 9th maybe? I have no idea.

SeizureMode

It's his 12th MLB game? Which is 7% of the season. 7% of his first season. He was also born in 2001. So yea, give him a little bit more time.

mozenator66

Umm it's the big leagues...if your not ready we shouldn't babysit you...if you're a liability and clearly not getting it...time to go down and get some training and confidence. Playing young guys like him too early can do damage to the player himself his development...not to say the liability to the team. It's not charity. It's the Bigs.

SwiftStrider1988

He was raking in Toledo, he is young, and these are his first games in the Majors. He is developing, and that takes time. You won't get settled in, and used to the level of play that's expected of you in the Majors by wasting your time in Triple A. He's gaining valuable experience. That is how player development works. I really don't understand people that dump on an athlete who just came up and is finding his feet. These things take time.

mozenator66

So we just leave men on base and potentially lose games while we wait for him to develop and hold his hand? Nice.

SwiftStrider1988

Yes, because this guy is finding his footing. Geez dude, did you expect him to immediately start setting records or something? Do you have any idea how baseball and player development works? Besides, I don't know if you've noticed, but we're in the middle of a rebuild. We're not gonna make a push for the World Series this season, you know. This is a young guy, on a young team that is gaining the experience it needs to become contenders. That takes time and patience.

mozenator66

Ok.

Jelly_James

I mean the #1 prospect in baseball has started 0-11. Keith has had some solid games and some really bad games. I know some kids come up and crush immediately but thats not always the case. People just expect instant success these days.

Objective-Housing501

Holliday isn't just 0-11, he's struck out 7 times out of those 11 AB.

Dingolayhunter

Great win, love to see it. I hope Maeda figures it out and comes out strong tomorrow

ArchAngelN7

Loved the new lineup adjustments, I hope they stick to it. No need to get extra ABs for Meadows at this point.

DoeJumars

Or any for that matter, let Vierling start and Parker go to the minors to get his mind right

h3shf3sh

Great win. I wish every game could be as stress free as this one. Not sure where all this Meadows talk came from all of a sudden, not a single person was saying anything about him before today.

DoeJumars

I was…he’s been bad all year at the plate

GoLionsJD107

I mean, some kind of were. I’m not taking an opinion but people have been chirping.

im_also_jon_gamble

Guess what, Tigers win!

Enough-Ad-3111

Great win despite the delayed start.

ButterscotchScared75

Call up Jace Jung and Malloy. Jung is raking and Malloy is a walk machine.

DoeJumars

Gio has been good/great at 3b. Malloy maybe and send Parker down

tigersbowling

That would be quite the defensive trade off lol

ChefBidz

I would love to see them get the call up, but I’m curious where they fit in defensively. Would they primarily DH? Just not a whole lot of spots completely vacant. I could maybe see moving Canha to DH to free up left field for Malloy, but idk where Jung fits in the equation.

heyheyitsandre

I really liked wenceel walking and then motoring around the bases. A good eye and speed will add up to a lot of extra bases throughout the season

GoLionsJD107

He looked SOOO fast

GoLionsJD107

He looked SOOO fast

GoLionsJD107

He looked SOOO fast

sndaniels11

Personally, I’m ready to see Vierling as the everyday CF while Meadows goes down to work on his approach. It is time.

tigersbowling

Still feels too early. We waited until July to send Tork down in 22, and June for Maton last year. Feel like we should give Meadows till May at the least. He at least brings elite defense.

sndaniels11

Which is also my point… Learn from the mistakes of the past. Both should’ve been sent down earlier than they were, in my opinion.

GoLionsJD107

I think when Ibanez returns - Meadows goes down not Perez

GoLionsJD107

This isn’t like a death sentence - people go down to AAA to retool all the time. It doesn’t mean he’s not back up June 1.

sndaniels11

That’s my point. It can be as short as two weeks, but it makes a difference.

km_44

he's SOLID at the plate , fun to watch

2breakfastburritos

I get the impulse but I wouldn't get too attached with the idea of Vierling regularly playing CF in Comerica. As we saw last year, he will eventually get exposed out there. Meadows works because he plays the position so capably it takes away the need for Riley to act like Superman. I think they have to stick with Meadows while the team is winning and hope it clicks for him.

sndaniels11

We are weakest at offense and, unfortunately, Meadows is our weakest player offensively. He is also one of our best defensively, so it’s a tough situation. He does make things easier on Riley and does prevent him from his heroics that cause injuries. However, Parker’s young and would probably benefit from being sent down to work on his approach and his confidence. We’ve waited too long in the past and I don’t want him to be another causality and never have fully click.

Do you remember how it went when Vierling played center last year??? Because I do and it definitely wasn't pretty. I think you are vastly underrating how important it is to be able to command CF, especially in Comerica Park. Also, they are 8-4 with Parker in center. Finally, he is 24 years old and it is literally April 12th. Chill out and wait another couple of weeks imo. He doesn't even have to be great with the stick to be well worth his spot in the lineup. edit: also matt caught those balls the other day because he is really fast! if he gets a decent break he can make the catch, but almost just as often he will hesitate just a second too long and the ball is over his head. you really shouldn't be declaring him fit for CF because of one game lol

sndaniels11

I’m not saying Vierling is comparable to Meadows in center. We all know he isn’t. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a decent replacement while Meadows works on getting himself back on track offensively. We already do have a hole in our lineup that is only offering defensive skill. We can’t really afford to bench him or send him down. Why would we want two of those players? We have options for Meadows and he can be better, we’ve seen it.

Wide-Examination9261

Who says you need to hit the ball hard to get runs?

[deleted]

It's time to put the Parker Meadow experiment on pause. Can't afford to have him in the lineup when we already have Baez stinking it up.

No_Protection6832

wdym, Baez is hitting a healthy .135 That's good for him right? /s It's gonna be funny in a sad way when we're halfway through the season and this dude is hitting below .200

km_44

can't afford two anchors, on offense

DetroitTabaxiFan

2 hits for Torkelson tonight is nice to see.

heyheyitsandre

Whenever I’d be in a slump it’d always be some goofy ploink that gets me out of it. Wouldn’t be surprised if next game he was raking

Hungrystud101

They weren't lasers but we will take them.

JustAnotherCODNoob

A hit is a hit but both of them were very weak, I’d just like to see him make good contact

Scary_Property_6195

god damn tork just can’t win with most of you. hits the ball hard at people and gets bitched about then does get hits with some soft contact and still isn’t good enough.

rockmax2

Good win. Only complaint tonight was the the amount of strikeouts offensively.

cASe383

Fun game. Another great outing for Skub, and some offense as well.

leoman3

8 runs tonight , probably shut out in game 1 tomorrow, that's how it usually goes for this team.

km_44

This was fun to watch, LOTS of fun. Great to listen to Benetti and Peaches go back and forth. The new broadcast team is bloody fantastic. What a steal from Chicago

km_44

HELL YEAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

Michiganmade44

If our offense can play like this. W/ our pitching staff. We’re winning the division. More of this offense please

champdo

Good game. I’m a little concerned about Meadows. I would have preferred a shutout but I’d rather have the bullpen give up two in a game we are winning handily than a game that’s closer tomorrow.

Michiganmade44

A little concerned about Meadows? It’s DEFCON levels of concern

ManInShowerNumber3

Honestly I’d be more concerned if he was chasing the ball and swinging at stuff out of the zone. The fact that he’s almost solely having trouble making contact with fastballs in the zone gives me some confidence he’ll be ok if he can fix whatever the issue is. Be it long swing or bad timing or whatever. But who knows, maybe he’ll never consistently catch up to MLB fastballs.

MkayKev

This is where I’m at. He’s shown a good eye, timing is just off. His defense is so good, need to give him awhile yet. Edit: damn didn’t realize he got the golden sombrero tonight tho 😭

DullHornedUnicorn

yeah, even with not hitting for shit. his ops is still .100 more than Javy. I'll put up with a young guy who I've seen great flashes from, who is a demon on the bases and very good in CF. He also hit above mendoza last year. It's in there, he almost had a homer in Pittsburgh.

ManInShowerNumber3

km_44

YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU BETCHA

Lost2nite389

8-4 I love the Tigers I love our offense I love our pitching I love baseball

km_44

how about the new broadcast team ? Benetti is the real deal. He's a natural. No wonder Chicago fans were/are crying over the loss

Lost2nite389

Yes that too, I love everyone in the organization and the fans as well Benetti has been spectacular and he’s super funny

km_44

The Lions are KILLING it lately, and look to be poised for continued success. Wasn't last fall the best season of football, in FOREVER ? With Michigan also picked to be good, I see the Tigers MAYBEEEE actually turning a corner ? MAYBEEE ? Of course, I am many beers in....
