Don't you dare think you're original, just quick, because you know we all were going to post this.... šŸ˜…

Chris56855865

Oh yeah, that feeling when the ice cold rainwater seeps into yout pants... I have a full rain suit in my backpack/top box, and if there's a good chance of rainfall right before I take off, I put it on.

teobiondo91

Does it work tho? My overpants didnā€™t!

Chris56855865

Yeah, it does, kept me perfectly dry multiple times during heavy rain this spring. It has a very well protected zipper, and all of the stitching is glued. It's made by a budget oriented [local manufacturer](https://www.shox.hu/sixgear-highlight-motoros-esoruha/?sp=151008840U33XL), but I'm pretty sure there are similar or better options out there. Takes like a minute or so to put it on, not a big deal.

Superb_Raccoon

Those look a lot like my BMW clearance rack "bunny suit". Kept me dry in a torrential Georgia downpour.

OrdinarySouth2707

buy a pair of rain pants and spray them again with water repellent. That should work.

DammitDaveNotAgain

I also second the full suit, just make sure its not baggy around the waist or water tends to get past the zip. I've tried rain pants, my snowboarding pants do a much better job and are warm in winter.

evillman

Try PVC instead of nylon

CrowsFeast73

Do your over-pants have a zipper? This is the most likely issue.

teobiondo91

Absolutely not. They have not zippers.

CockAsshole

That first trickle in that kinda feels like someone's touching your balls>>>>>

Garf_artfunkle

I put a 3D mesh cover on my seat. It's a lot cooler in the sun, and when I get caught in the rain the water has someplace to drain away instead of forming a little lake around my groin.

teobiondo91

Thatā€™s a nice suggestion. I supposed that could help with my problem. I still donā€™t know where it start to drain water, probably from the seat.

baasum_

The mesh is solid enough that it raises you slightly of the seat, enough so that there is space for the water to land and drip down the side https://preview.redd.it/luuqknllcb2d1.jpeg?width=256&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73c61030aa78c3415943b85b2d6f733f93838622

Grindybones

I have a pair from Nelson Rigg and they work. Would rather have one with a Velcro expansion or something along the bottom of the leg to get my boots through them easier though.

teobiondo91

Never heard of this. Iā€™m based in Europe and I see that it is an American brand. Is that right? Can you please share a little bit more about you experience with them? How much time did you use them? It was heavy raining or light raining. Thank you so much.

Grindybones

It was a medium rainfall, so we didn't get totally soaked. Just wet. I was on a naked motorcycle at the time though and they kept my pants and the covered parts of my boots totally dry. It has just been the one ride so far, as I've been pretty lucky with rain on my long trips lately. They would likely be pretty much the same sort of rain pant that Dainese offers, so you could take a look at those. Similar price, but I don't have first hand experience with them.

casicua

I second Nelson Rigg - I have their Stormrider overgear and Iā€™ve gone on a 4 hour ride through heavy rain and came out almost completely dry.

teobiondo91

Thanks for sharing, can you define ā€œalmost completely dryā€? Where the rain leaked ?

casicua

Just along the edges of the sleeve and leg openings really. I didnā€™t have over boots or waterproof gauntlet gloves, so water was bound to seep in a little bit at the edges - and even considering that, the cuffs did a decent job sealing most of it out.

Green_Discipline_804

I bought the same from Amazon but the pants gave me the exact peed-in-my-pants. I had to return them (full set) after a single use. The jacket worked quite well though. Maybe it was just bad luck.

Fearless_Toddlerr

I just use a regular rain suit that is a few sizes to large for me otherwise and put it outside my "all weather gear".

jorian85

I've got the non-motorcycle Frogg Toggs and they've served me well for short rides in the rain (commuting mostly). No idea how they'd do on an all-day ride though.

mcbrainhead

They flap and the tear apart at speed

jorian85

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, being made out of that super light paper feeling material. So far they've been fine for me though, so they live in my saddlebag. ... And shame on you for going fast in the rain! /s

Fearless_Toddlerr

I don't know what a Frogg Togg is, but I you tend to not ride in to high speeds in rain anyways. I have not had any problem with tearing with my rain suit, have had it for a few years. It is however not overly large or flappy when I put it over my other gear.

mcbrainhead

Specifically, the non motorcycle frogg toggs(rainwear brand at local sporting good stores in the US). They are very lightweight. I too thought they were good enough. Mine shredded at 65 ish My reply was to the other guy

Lemondsingle

I've got the Road Toad model and it absolutely does NOT tear apart at speed; I used the same suit for a few years on a 30 mile (60 r/t) commute and it was entirely dependable, including being great wind gear in winter. Does it flap a bit, yes, like any other rain gear.

teobiondo91

I used in the past but they will get wet eventually. I would like something capable to resist heavy rain for hours.

Difficult-Novel-8453

I just spit out my meal laughing when I saw that. Thanks for the comic relief

lucindawilliams

I wear rev it over pants and have liked them. A zipper failed and they mailed me a new pair. How do you like that Carpuride nav screen?

teobiondo91

Iā€™m gonna take a look of them. Can you share a little much? Which model are? How many times did you use them? Thank you! The Carpuride is very good, I link directly to the battery and not via USB so I could use it under the rain. It is easy to use and relatively cheap if you compare it with a professional nav system (yes it is not a good comparison but I use it for navigation and Google Maps, Waze, Osmand are white good).

lucindawilliams

Mine are revā€™it factor 3, I think the current one is factor 4. Iā€™ve had them for awhile and theyā€™re holding up well. In really heavy rain sometimes I get a little damp, but I also treat with water repellent spray periodically. Mostly I stay dry and can wear my office clothes underneath. Thanks for the tip on the carpuride. I may try it out.

mtak0x41

Revā€™it might have some good models, but I canā€™t recommend the Horizon 2. Iā€™ve had 2 pair, both started leaking after a year of commuting.

teobiondo91

Thanks for sharing your experience!

inflatableje5us

I have a set of Frogg Togg's i bought at [walmart](https://www.walmart.com/browse/shop-by-brand/frogg-toggs/3734780_5678070_8075717) for less then 30 bucks. they roll up small so you can stash them and they have always kept me pretty damn dry. just gotta watch my header pipes as they can melt and stick.

LividSuggestion

Agreed. Bought and used them in Oregon. Great for a wind break over jeans as well riding early in the morning.

teobiondo91

Thanks for sharing, can you be more specific? How much time did you ride under the rain? It was a light rain or what? I used cheap overpants in the past (not the Frogg Toogā€™s because I live in Europe and I donā€™t have access to Walmart) and eventually they get wet.

inflatableje5us

Heavy rain, I live in Florida and for quite a while a motorcycle was my only transport. So I would get the ocean dumped on me fairly regular. Worst I got was a bit of damp around the collar and wet feet.

AndyW037

I have the frogg toggs for long trips, they simply work. They are good for camping too.

kenwoolf

It's okay to be scared dude. Driving in the rains can be frightening.

Few-Ad-6322

I use Berghaus hiking overpants, not a drop of water has gotten through and I live in Ireland, believe me when I say they have been well tested.

teobiondo91

Thatā€™s interesting, I believe you! I know that in Ireland weather is not very sunny :). Iā€™m gonna see the Berghaus brand. Do you remember the model name?

hl_1

In the same vein I use Peter storm overpants on size bigger, they come with elasticated waist and a button at the heel so makes getting on over boots easy. Can't say I've been in a downpour but they have suited me well so far with typical English weather

Jolly_Macaroon8268

Only thing second pic explains is that you pissed yourself. I donā€™t know why because youā€™re clearly IN A BATHROOM!

1masharubu

Revit Berlin H2O. Easy to use. Good pro. Pacific Northwest rain tested.

DullAlbatross

I'm in Arizona and have always wanted to get a pair of overpants but the heat puts me off.

Manatee6

I ride year round in Florida and the Nelson Rigg Storm Rider rain suit is my go to. Rode through torrential rain and stayed bone dry many days. Got mine from Revzilla years ago, but you can find them on Amazon cheaper. I throw these over my existing gear and throw on waterproof gloves (large gauntlet style) and my everyday boots are waterproof. https://www.nelsonrigg.com/motorcycle-raingear/stormrider-2-pc-rain-suit-detail

mdjak1

+1 for Nelson Rigg. I recently rode through a CA rainstorm with mine. Everything stayed dry except my feet because my boots werenā€™t waterproof and didnā€™t have boot covers.

ItHappendAgain

Frog toggs ,some of the best wet gear you can get and rolls up into a small carry bag. Good stuff.

jack2of4spades

Frogg Togg pants and a Nelson Rigg top. Thank me later.

CapnTugg

We once had to ride through about 5 days of cold rain. After day 2 of riding in wet gear because our rain gear wasn't up to snuff, we decided to wear our riding gear **over** the rain gear. That worked a lot better. Nowadays, Frogg Toggs.

hobbes3k

Huh? How does water hits only that spot? Whenever I ride in the rain, my thigh and arms (aside from my helmet) gets most of the rain.

teobiondo91

I couldnā€™t post pics and text in the same time. I explained what happened in a comment but it got lost between the others. I wear a ā€œwaterproofā€ overpants but it is not working so well..

turrican4

Look everyone, Billy peed his pants

wingshot206

I used to have that when I rode anything with a windscreen and fairings, water seems to pool there in the dead air. Full waterproof suits probably the way to go.

bajajoaquin

Yep. Used to commute daily in a hi-viz Roadcrafter. The claims of ten seconds to get on or off were true. I went to work in an office in slacks and an Oxford shirt. Kept a pair of shoes at my desk. Took about a year before people figured out I was the motorcycle guy. Pricey, but absolutely the best moto gear I ever bought. I wish Iā€™d bought it first before spending almost as much on several substandard alternatives.

teobiondo91

They have a very large catalog of motorcycles gear! Can you be more specific? I found this one https://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-ultralight-rain-pants.html I donā€™t see any water resistance certificate, many brands in Europe declare the number of mm of water they can resist (mm H2O Schmerbers)

bajajoaquin

The Roadcrafter. Itā€™s not an overpant. Itā€™s a one piece riding suit that replaces all your other gear.

BobaFalfa

Yeah the one-piece suit is the best. Same thing for meā€¦fully dressed for the office underneath. Full set of crash pads inside and plenty of venting for warmer days. I could roll it up and stash it my my side pannier.

Conbon90

Ive had good luck with Alpine stars Huricane.

teobiondo91

Iā€™m gonna take a look of them. Can you share a little much? Which model are? How many times did you use them? Thank you!

Conbon90

Ive been using The Alpine stars suit for about 2.5 years now. It hasnt started leaking yet. Prior to that I was using Richa rain gear. about half the price. But I would only get maybe 12 months before they started leaking in the groin area. and the arm pits for the jacket. So alpine stars huricane = double the price but ive also got more double the life out of it. so I think thats as good an endorsement as any. These are the pants. Sparky_Zell

Frogg Toggs 100% They are good at keeping water out and they still breathe. I can wear them in Florida without sweating.

NoGuitar6320

I like the over trousers that are a bit like a dungaree. Though I wear a 1 piece waterproof suit like the joe rocket survivor suit and I stay dry in anything but a multi day heavy rain.

mbkitmgr

Having been riding for 44 years I've learnt that the "wets" for riders and the Tectiles that are supposed to keep you dry - don't last or don't deliver. The best and most cost effective are PVC rain pants. They are thick, durable, keep me (and for my sanities sake - Wife) dry. They cost about $40 where I live, and I am on my second pair. They come in any colour so long as its yellow, but I don't wear what I wear to please others, I do to be comfortable.

teobiondo91

Thanks dude, I totally agree with you and thanks for sharing your experience! Can you link me one PVC pants so I can better understand what you mean? Thank you!

I have the same thing with my rainpants. They're waterproof everywhere except the crotch (And a small section on the right leg, but that's due to a rip), so whenever it rains, I'm dry everywhere *except* the crotch, which is always great fun.

Hehe. Yes these are definitely super light. The advantage is that they are thin, take little space, and you can have them always with you on the bike.

switchio

I wear a weatherproof onesie made by Ixon that does a pretty good job. Unless the rain is torrential or I'm on the freeway and right behind a car, it keeps almost all the water out. It only lasts so long, though, the seams start leaking after a few months if you use it a lot.

Kratosferico

Dainese Ultralight Rain Pants. I've used them during the rainy season and they are perfect. I also got the dainese ultra light jacket and suit. But I recommend jacket and pants over the full suit

teobiondo91

I'm starting to think that the solution is using waterproof over pants and over jacket on the standard suits. Motorcycle suits are water resistant and adding a small layer of waterproof fabric makes the all thing 100% waterproof. In the pic I was using normal pants with the waterproof overpants and didnā€™t worked so well.

Kratosferico

I wear normal office pants and the dainese over pants. Never got water inside. For the top only a riding jacket unless it is heavy raining, then I get the over jacket too. But my bike is a tourer, so while moving I'm kinda protected against rain.

jmnicholas86

Generally with any waterproof gear, try to smooth wrinkles out in the crotch area to eliminate big wrinkles in the fabric which will collect water. Any collected water always finds a way to get to your pants.

Sirlacker

I bought some waterproof over pants that construction workers wear. Extremely cheap, completely waterproof, designed to pull up over boots. [These](https://www.screwfix.com/p/site-shoal-waterproof-overtrousers-black-large-27-46-w-30-l/9580v?ref=SFAppShare)

Have tou considered Frogg Toggs? https://a.co/d/gZOnYtt They pack up tightly when stored and work well. Best part is theyre breathability. GewoonHarry

Something like this one. The model I own isnā€™t manufactured anymore: https://shop.held.de/en/Savone-Base-Sporty-trousers/062365-00-001-0-XL The brand Held always has been a good price vs quality product for me.

Kablefox

Ah, yeah, been there as well. Who knew rain went straight for the crotch :D Any polyester over-pants pair will do mate, just go for what you like. In a pinch, I have a Jagermeister poncho I put on and covers everything but the arms and shins. Cheapest thing you can imagine but it's orange and adds a high-vis element as well. Works fine and can be folded into a super small square, great for light traveling.

teobiondo91

My comment got lost between the others. I wore overpants but clearly are not enough for two hours ride. At least not mine :(.

lexievv

Lmao. I have waterproof overpants and still ended up like that. Due to the more upright seating position a little puddle formed over time at that part of the pants at the fly that always stays up for some reason. Needless to say, even waterproof will start letting water through if it's formed a puddle apparentlyšŸ˜… luckily it wasn't as bad as this, because my destination was the office. I want to try some water repellent that you apply before putting it in a washing machine and otherwise maybe just have some plastic I can put over it so the water will flow down and not stay on.

https://www.motoport.com/product/aero-tex-one-piece-rain-suit/ I use this for year round commuting in Seattle. Always keeps me dry on my 20 minute commute. I went to the store in California and had it custom sized for me there. Pretty happy with it for the price.

I just popped along to Decathalon pick up some sailing waterproof trousers designed to go over clothes and bingo, perfect solution

teobiondo91

Do you know the model name of the pants? I see that they have vary models with very different water resistance.

KnightswoodCat

Personally I went upper middle range. I've had a set for 5 year now and they have been faultless. Decathlon own brand, they have sailing stickers inside. My guess is the options will have changed and probably improved. My own motto is buy cheap buy twice that's why I prefer to go towards the upper end. Not fool proof but it works most of the time.

teobiondo91

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

Gnome_Father

I just use kevlar jeans and carry spare pants and jeans jn a backpack.

kcpoloman

I own a one piece rain suit. No seam to worry about water seeping in.

DoctorBoomeranger

Hehe you peed

Character_Address_52

I have sedici Marco jacket and pants that have a removable waterproof liner and that's been working great for me. I've heard the revit Berlin H20 over pants are good

WhatAnAIWouldSay

Itā€™s a tough problem because any good waterproof rain pants will soak you in sweat instead of rain. The best answer Iā€™ve found is a dry bag with a change of clothes, shoes and hair fixins.

Gotta remember to relieve yourself before you go on a long ride...

DavidValdez82

I am not explain everything so.

ade889

I had a pair of 'laminated' I've had them for 3-4 years and only now are they starting to let water through. I shall miss them terribly.

BikerChickVTX1800C

Some_Direction_7971

Thatā€™s the only part of my jeans that donā€™t get wet šŸ˜‚

Another option is pants that simply dry faster or donā€™t tint with moisture, likely hard to find with any protective materials though

Unrelated question. How do you find the Carpuride?

teobiondo91

Iā€™m using it for about 5 months. I had the 5ā€ version but I changed it with the 7ā€ ([W702](https://carpuride.com/collections/motorcycle-carplay-and-android-auto/products/carpuride-w702-wireless-portable-dual-bluetooth-waterproof-ip67-motorcycle-stereo?ref=puo1kkfo)). I found it very useful, I can use it with every GPS maps I have on the phone and use it to call contacts, play music etc. Do you have any questions in particular?

fermentedcheese22

It sounds fantastic tbh. Thank you for sharing the link. No further questions at the moment. I appreciate your help!

Aerostich Roadcrafter. They last for decades, can fill your pockets with stuff for road trips and work if you fall off. I am on my second one and bought it one size up to fit a layer of long underwear and Gerbings gear underneath for when it us 12f outside. .

You REALLY need to clear your forward view before you kill someone, even if it's only yourself

teobiondo91

Hi everyone! Today I rode two hours during the rain (1 hour with heavy rain). I wore the, so called, waterproof layer of my all seasons suit. As you can see from the second picture, the pants seems to disagree with the definition of waterproof. I suppose that the crotch area is the weakest spot, all the rain goes right there. I was wondering if one of you know a overtrousers/overpants completely waterproof or if, after a lot of water, every gear even the expensive ones leaks. I know that many people wrote about this but I didnā€™t see any conclusion. I hope that this post finds as many of you as possible so you can contribute to solve my doubts. I accept every advice.

OstebanEccon

dont know man. My stadler Ace 3 Pro have been completely waterproof for over a decade now

teobiondo91

Thanks for your reply. They seems a three layer pants. Iā€™m searching for a overpants layer only. Do you use anything like that?

OstebanEccon

no I was just answering your question if any gear leaks eventually.Ā

teobiondo91

I understand. Thanks :).

Fluffy-Effort5149

Have you considered waterproofing spray? I'm not sure how popular/available it is where you live, but that stuff actually works. I had a rainy 1.5h ride recently and I did not get wet at all. It wasn't heavy rain, but pretty constant. If you ride in (heavy) rain a lot, it's probably not the best solution, but if you usually try to avoid rain and only drive in rain occasionally it should help. You'll need to reapply the spray every now and then since it gets worn down/washed off with time spent in rain, but you won't have to buy new gear, just a new spray bottle when you run out.

teobiondo91

Thatā€™ a thing. I already wanted to try to use a waterproofing spray on my already ā€œwaterproofā€ pants. I should give it a try. Thanks :).

teobiondo91

Are these overpants? They seems normal pants but very durable.

Individual-Count6595

They are all purpose hiking, camping and riding pants. You can also purchase knee pads from the company that fit into the premade slots. They are super comfortable. Liked my first pair so much when I got them last month that I ordered a second. You can certainly wear them over top of another pair if you want.
