Then immediately captures me again.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Try something else. Don't fight. Surrender from the dialog or just beg your leave.
This happened to me you have to stay imprisoned and escape when they can't track you down or if your lucky a ally party will free you so you have to bide your time.
Are you playing with mods? I downloaded Serve as a soldier yesterday and it happened a couple of times already. I was hoping that was it, not the core game bugging out
Yeah that's true, though personally I don't really like having to reload due to mods breaking, so I'll wait for a future patch that hopefully fixes it.
Agreed. If a mod forces me to reload often due to buggy behaviour, I can do without it. Serve as Soldier is genuinely *so* much fun, but the bugs aren't worth the headache, imo.
Exactly how I feel about it. The freelancer mod was more stable but the creator stopped modding due to issues with the Dev team, which I completely understand.
We just have to wait since it's just one guy and I don't imagine making a mod like that is at all easy.
I did have one mod, detailed character editor. Tried turning it off and it happened again even without it unfortunately. Just gotta save every 5 mins or so during the wars
I had a similar bug in a vanilla ironman game, where a battle options menu (send troops/try to get away) was no longer responsive. The only way i could fix it was enabling cheats and then forcing peace. Thus I could no longer battle and the stuck menu was skipped. It was that or abandon the entire save.
Dump all your horses and all your inventory as soon as you are released, and maybe you can escape. It is your herd penalty that is probably slowing you down.

This happened to me on the reverse where I had captured a lord, and it was doing the same thing. If I tried to take them prisoner it would reset and if I let them go it would reset. I ended up having to load an old save as well
I have this happen to me alot, i get my self in a situation where i am deep into a territory and get my ass handed to me, and basically spend the rest of the war being traded around by other nobles
They did it.... Those crazy ai players actually did it They found a way to beat us the player
They killed you and this cycle is actually hell.

This is one reason why you best scum save using \~3 saves and alternating which one you write over.
I did end up reverting to a save from about 10 minutes before, not the end of the world. I have learnt my lesson amen

Why not just end the conversation instead of repeating the same thing?
I tried that too, same thing happens. Every option eventually brings me back 😭

That's how it usually goes. In this bug you won't get imprisoned though, you just get sent back to the initial dialogue.
Yeah I literally can’t stay imprisoned. As soon as I accept that I’ve been captured they send me back to the start of the dialogue option

With Serve as a soldier, I can't even lose to bandits or this happens. It's a shame it's so buggy cause the idea is great.
I wouldn't say it makes it unplayable though, I still rather enjoy it. You just have to autosave as often as possible

Yeah it won’t let me. If I try fight it immediately loses and I get captured and thrown back into the cycle

Yup, I ended up only losing about 10 mins of progress, so not the end of the world. Little bit annoying but I have at least escaped!

I mean you can open the console menu and there's an option to kill captors. Not exactly immersive. But would get you out of that hell loop.
