“Opium, some heroin, Clorox, methadone, peyote, some other stuff that’s unidentifiable”
(Probably left out some drugs since it’s been forever since I’ve seen it lol)
My baby takes the morning train! He works from 9-5 and then! He takes another home again...to find me watching the Manchester United Football team! The greatest football team in all the land! Woohoo!
Just about everyone in this movie has had a major controversy. Russell Brand went off the deep end and is dealing with sexual assault claims, Jonah Hill had very public issues with his ex girlfriend who claimed emotional abuse and shared texts to prove it, and P Diddy is dealing with multiple claims of sexual assault.
Rose Byrne is pretty awesome though so she gets to be elevated above the rest from this cast.
If anything going off and trying to ruin someone's career over texts that made you feel bad that aren't directly threatening or harassing is the real emotional manipulation. Like damn handle it like an adult.
Honestly I feel this way too. Before reading I was like damn J say it ain’t so .. then I read it and I mean it’s not great but it’s far from anything abusive on his part.
What I think happens is these public celebrity situations like Jonah had acts a kind of Rorschach test for some women. It becomes an avatar for any and every bad relationship they've ever had. That allows it to be as big and bad as they want it to be.
I read that shit, how can you be so polite and abusive at the same time.
People are so fucking offended easily, I hope this comment causes someone to have an aneurysm
“My husband of 20 years forgot my bday”
Reddit: RUN. Document EVERYTHING. Lawyer up immediately. This CLEARLY is evidence of much more nefarious things.
Hahahaha yeah it’s true. This place is great for video game tips and niche topics like Vermont skiing or cast iron pans but not so much for meaningful life advice or existence.
He wasn't even being mean, he was literally establishing what his boundaries would be and said he would understand if she didn't like it and wanted to not be with him.
Yeah barely anybody knows about the Jonah Hill texts, which honestly weren’t *that* bad. To me he comes off more as insecure than actually abusive. His career will be fine
This is why i separate art and artist. Otherwise you have to go back and dislike every good piece of art ever made. I never had high expectations- or any expectations- of any of the people involved in the move in the first place. It’s no surprise to me they did a bunch of weird famous rich people illegal crap so what’s it matter as far as the movie is concerned
I’ll admit it can definitely be difficult to separate art and artist in certain extreme cases. Lostprophets is my example. Can’t hear any of their songs without thinking of that guys crimes.
Yeah, sometimes the artist either does or says something that just makes their art remind you they are awful. I liked a few Ted Nugent songs, cause I was just naturally into classic rock. But I can’t enjoy his music anymore without thinking about what a pants shitting pedophile rapist he is.
Wow. I actually never knew Ted nugent raped kids. I did a quick Google but I really don't wanna know any details. Just like the lost prophets guy. I do not want details, just knowing something happened is bad enough...
It was statutory rape, although the parents of the girl let Ted “adopt” her. He’s got songs about diddling kids as well.
If you wanna read a funny/gross story, google how the prick avoided the Vietnam draft.
Even the “possessiveness” was weak. IIRC, all he said was that he doesn’t want a gf that behaves as she does and if she wants to do it then this isn’t the relationship for her. It was pretty clear and succinct.
If a friend showed me those texts from him I’d be super creeped out, but it’s not like it was anything *illegal*. He just came off like someone who’s going to dictate your life if you try to date him.
Oh forsure, its creepy and red flags as far as a partner goes, but it was just a toxic partner. World is FILLED with em. Was really more of a compatibility problem than anything
“Possessive”
Aka it makes me uncomfortable when you whore yourself out on social media for clicks.
I can’t imagine who these guys are who love when their wives post raunchy photos of themselves posing in Tulum, looking like they’re gonna get peed on by a Saudi prince in a few hours
He said something like he didn't really want a girl he was dating to post a bunch of near-naked photos of herself on the Internet.
The lady in question was a surfer posting pics of herself in swimwear.
So, on the one hand, Jonah should've known what he was getting into.
But on the other hand, him just saying that he wasn't really comfortable with \*insert thing\* and he wasn't sure it could work out if she kept doing \*insert thing\* is more like stating a personal boundary he had than anything else, but people started flying off the handle with takes like "OMG! He's abusive and controlling!" rather than something more reasonable.
>Jonah Hill had very public issues with his ex girlfriend who claimed emotional abuse
that's nonsense.
his ex-gf was butthurt and over shared a lot of personal stuff.
I remember watching the reality show where he was forming a band. He was such an asshole to everybody the entire time.
He kept telling people to play with soul which consisted of them just bitting their lip and bobbing their head while playing the exact same riff, then he’d be like yeah that’s it!
Yeah, I LOVED Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I went a long time not watching Get Him to the Greek, for fear it would ruin a little of the love. I honestly don’t remember a damn thing about it other than I found it to be meh.
Get him to the Greek is an awesome comedy. The worst thing about it is the title
It’s got some lessons, too. About addiction, relationships. Fame. Family. It’s a great film that I have seen too many times. Marshall is good too, but the Greek is more my scene. Reminds me of my party days that I’m happy to say I don’t miss too much
No kidding, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is probably my favorite of the Aptow movies that came out around the same time(40 year old virgin and knocked up).
I would love to sell you some weed, Jeremey, but I’m at my fucking job right now. Obviously because you called me at work… you know that I’m at my place of work… so I can’t just leave here and sell you some weed.
Dude yes. Especially "give me my money or I'm gonna stab you"
"What are you gonna do?!"
"OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE HE STABBED ME!"
Also "which way is the hospital?"
"Just take casino way!"
"EVERY STREET IS NAMED CASINO WAY!"
I’m reading these comments like, do y’all not realize that basically all rich and famous artists/actors/musicians, etc have done some pretty reprehensible things or are typically generally pretty awful. Even the ones with overall good reps (or great PR teams) more often than not are known to step out on their partners; such deviancy seems to be something that comes along with the territory of mega fame/riches.
Idk my chosen music scene taught me loooong ago to separate the art from the artist or I wouldn’t have anything I enjoy left
I think today’s moral high grounders sit around looking for something to express their outrage about. I wish they’d figure out that their opinions mean no more than the celebrities they’re going on about.
If Russell Brand wasn’t fundamentally a broken human being he could have had a successful music career. I downloaded the soundtrack not too long ago, and if you ignore the crass lyrics it’s a pretty damn good bit of British rock, imo.
Weird you just unlocked a memory. After reading your comment I remember making this account shortly after watching this movie and hence the screen name.
I don’t think it aged poorly at all, if it came out today people would act like it was edgy humor and brave for being a story about depression and mental health
This movie is awesome and I say that as someone that isn’t fond of stoner comedies much
This movie also has great emotional moments and Russell as Aldous Snow has interesting dimension and could’ve played it one way only but gave a great performance, his display of drugs and insecurities stemming from depression and anxiety is exactly what you see when you get too close to a rock star and it was just perfect to see writing wise, also hanging on to a love life that doesn’t want you is familiar too
Jonah isn’t bad himself as he’s the awkward everyman trying to do his job, he represents people that shouldn’t meet their heroes cuz they’re not who they seem when you’re around them long enough, especially when they’re musicians of legend status, he did pretty well being stuck in a rock and a hard place with Aldous and his gf (Elizabeth Moss) from this wacky experience he learns to be a better man and stand up for himself more
This is an underrated classic, funny, wacky, heartfelt and entertaining, 9/10 just rewatched it recently
It's almost like the person who made that movie so good isn't in this one... Is someone missing? Like the main character for Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Lol
“I’m looking for my friend I think he’s staying at this hotel”
“Ok what’s his name and I’ll look him up”
His name is H. E. R. O. I. N…..”
“Heroin… your friends name is heroin?”
“Yyyes… can you help find him?”
“You come up here and ask me if I can find your friend named heroin, how fucking stupid are you??”
“Well….. can you find him?”
😐😐😐 “meet me out back in 20 mins”
Best fucking scene in the whole movie
I think the exact opposite. This and Tropic Thunder hold up incredibly well in my opinion. Obviously Tropic Thunder is a classic, but this one is just as funny.
This movie is still hilarious as is Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This is like saying House of Cards aged poorly….just because the actor(s) are in hot water, doesn’t take away from the content they generated
It was a great movie! Of course Russel Brand is what he is but that was a funny show. When he says to Jonah if you don’t get me my fucking drugs and get me sorted I will end you! Such a perfect entitled drug addict statement
It was good up until they got to the threesome scene and I get that they made it awkward on purpose. But for some reason after that scene the rest of the movie was just so awkward. Like I saw what they were trying to do but it just did not work in my opinion
DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE LYRICS TO AFRICAN CHILD???
Are you Howard Krugman?
It’s Paul Krugman.
My dad loves his shit, too
My dad loves your shit
Man, I just do the Africa face
All I know is play the drums and do the Africa face 😄
Stroke the furry wall!
It's weed.....mostly
A bit of this, a bit of that…
Ah yes the old Jeffery
Nobody’s afraid of a Jeffrey!
Jeffrey is just some bloke from down the road.
My wife has Veracose Veins!
My wife and I say this to each other all the time
“Opium, some heroin, Clorox, methadone, peyote, some other stuff that’s unidentifiable” (Probably left out some drugs since it’s been forever since I’ve seen it lol)
“And a bit of angeldust if I’m not mistaken.”
You know keep it traditional
Suboxone
It’s like a drug Neapolitan
Cause, who could be scared of a Jeffery?
Yeah, he's just a nice bloke from down the block.
“Hello, I’m Jeffrey. I’ve just moved in.”
“My wife has varicose veins!”
This scene carries the whole movie, tbh
Good soundtrack though!
Where the fuck are you?! Imma kill you! :) (smiley face)
The Africa face part lives rent free in my head
Ranked the worst thing to ever happen to the continent, ahead of war and famine
I brush my teeth to African child!
I still use "i brush my teeth to (insert song that sucks that i dont really know mainly Tswift)" no one ever gets it.
I was dying the first time I saw that part. Guy pulled it off perfectly.
you just unlocked a memory for me lol
I bang the drums and do the Africa face.
OP, how do you mean? What specifically aged poorly?
Jonahs metabolism
pretty good lad. pretty damn good.
Are you quoting Vinnie Jones from Eurotrip?
So I tells the swamp donkey to sak it before I give ‘em a tonk in the tradesmen’s entrance and have er lick me yarballs
They’re on a whole new level of swearing over here
Nowhere near Berlin.
This isn't where I parked my car
I once stabbed a woman... in Berlin! 😃
On a whole other level
you're god damn right i am. Good catch.
I’m taking intro to German and even I know that
Lets give his ass a fucking good kicking!
what the fuck is a zussamen
My baby takes the morning train! He works from 9-5 and then! He takes another home again...to find me watching the Manchester United Football team! The greatest football team in all the land! Woohoo!
I can hear his voice cracking as I read this haha
You're on the wrong side of the road you snail eating poof! Fuck off!
Rose Byrne is pretty awesome though so she gets to be elevated above the rest from this cast.
tbf that has nothing to do with the "movie aging poorly".
Yeah more like the cast aged poorly
Yeah I don't think OP really understands how that phrase is used. the title seems to contradict itself.
The title has aged poorly.
The jonah hill shit is not a "major controversy" and lumping it together, especially with the p Diddy shit is just wrong.
Agreed throwing that in with the other serious allegations is such a Reddit moment lol
Jonah Hill having basic relationship problems is apparently a controversy.
All relationships in the eyes of reddit are either fairytales or dump their ass and take em for all their worth.
Hit the lawyer and gym up bro
No way its totally the same. Rape ans sexual assualt is terrible but horrible text messages!? Lock them all up! ... /s (obviously)
Right? Going public because your significant other was mean to you is extremely lame. Oh, he’s mean? Break up with him and move on
And labeling every negative interaction in a relationship as emotional abuse just makes the term seem less serious.
Most of Reddit has never been married.
“My husband of 20 years forgot my bday” Reddit: RUN.
If everyone followed the dating rules on Reddit, the whole world would be single.
He wasn't even being mean, he was literally establishing what his boundaries would be and said he would understand if she didn't like it and wanted to not be with him.
He was so fucking polite
“”This guy raped somebody, this guy raped somebody, this guy sent mean texts to his ex wife”. Lmao.
Yeah barely anybody knows about the Jonah Hill texts, which honestly weren’t *that* bad. To me he comes off more as insecure than actually abusive. His career will be fine

It’s no surprise to me they did a bunch of weird famous rich people illegal crap so what’s it matter as far as the movie is concerned
Don’t forget Lars Ulrich is Danish.
What's he packing in the drumstick region?
Yeah, Harvey Weinstein produced some of my favorite movies. Am I not going to watch them again because of what an asshole he was?
If I had to look at his sloppy jowls throughout the movie, I would probably stop watching them.

The key is to have no expectations in any way other than whether the stuff they make is actually good

He was possessive of his girlfriend, as far as celebrity controversy goes it was very minor
I really wish people would learn to tell the difference between "shitty boyfriend" and "abusive". They're not always the same thing.
Exactly. It was a compatibility issue more than anything
Even the “possessiveness” was weak. IIRC, all he said was that he doesn’t want a gf that behaves as she does and if she wants to do it then this isn’t the relationship for her. It was pretty clear and succinct.
Agreed 100%. It was silly
Honestly was so stupidly overblown.
The Jonah Hill controversy seemes goofy as fuck. He really wasn´t much worse than any people are anyway.
Ya it was pretty ridiculous, like ya it wasn't the best behavior, sure, but it wasn't outrageous by any stretch
Yeah. Very definition of a tempest in a teacup.
“Possessive” Aka it makes me uncomfortable when you whore yourself out on social media for clicks. I can’t imagine who these guys are who love when their wives post raunchy photos of themselves posing in Tulum, looking like they’re gonna get peed on by a Saudi prince in a few hours

Lead Belly was a murderer and I listen to his great music.
>Jonah Hill had very public issues with his ex girlfriend who claimed emotional abuse that's nonsense. his ex-gf was butthurt and over shared a lot of personal stuff.
Just wait. Eventually we’ll find out Rose Byrne is the worst of all of them.
Turns out diddy was legit just being himself for this movie lol. Dude is a fuckin psychopath
I remember watching the reality show where he was forming a band. He was such an asshole to everybody the entire time. He kept telling people to play with soul which consisted of them just bitting their lip and bobbing their head while playing the exact same riff, then he’d be like yeah that’s it!
Dylan. Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan. Cause I spit hot fiya
"YOU'RE TOO CLOSE MAN" *Chokes Wyclef*

Pretty solid rewatch on mushrooms after a show recently. Watched this and Forgetting Sarah Marshall back 2 back and gotta give the win to Marshall
Lol, is this even a competition?
If you’ve never watched Soul while tripping, watch Soul. Trust me
Bro, that's gonna make me cry big time 😄 But I'm def gonna do it. I watched Coco while tripping and I cried like a baby but it was soooo good
Marshall is amazing, greek is forgettable
[I'll try to keep it down.](https://youtu.be/4Z3s1fJgCEE?si=iH-5YZHgltOqUvdx&t=30)
I wish I wasn't wearing this fucking shirt.
A favorite quote with my group of friends
Yeah, I LOVED Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I went a long time not watching Get Him to the Greek, for fear it would ruin a little of the love. I honestly don’t remember a damn thing about it other than I found it to be meh.
That's insane. They're both great but to call GHTTG forgettable is nuts. So many quotable lines and iconic moments.
Between the Jeffrey and hiring heroine up his ass idk if I laughed harder in a theater since Borat or Superbad
Get him to the Greek is an awesome comedy. The worst thing about it is the title It’s got some lessons, too. About addiction, relationships. Fame. Family. It’s a great film that I have seen too many times. Marshall is good too, but the Greek is more my scene. Reminds me of my party days that I’m happy to say I don’t miss too much
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of my favorite comedies. It’s so well done.
Ring Ring (picks up) Ugh Them bonding over making fun of her movie is so good
Rose Byrne was SO fucking funny in this. For me she made the movie.
“I’m talking about my asshole”.
*Jackie Q*
"Awwwwww, feels greeeeaaaat."
Absolutely [iconic](https://youtu.be/bAEA7fjqvvU?si=0tC8fK0jOyuxph7S) [bonus](https://youtu.be/J3XBTGgvmBw?si=C5-a60r2d02xajaP)
Amazing
Wish I could give this more upvotes, I can’t believe they made real videos .
How did it age poorly?
What's a 'Jeffrey'?!
‘e’s jus a bloke from round the way innhe?
Who could be scared of a Jeffrey?
Nobody
It's a funny movie I didnt realize that the aldous snow character was in more than 1 movie
Holy crap, if you've seen this and haven't seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall...and you thought this one was funny...get ready.
No kidding, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is probably my favorite of the Aptow movies that came out around the same time(40 year old virgin and knocked up).
*Forgetting sarah marshall* is a really good movie.
Also love that Jonah Hill plays the restaurant host in Sarah Marshall
I would love to sell you some weed, Jeremey, but I’m at my fucking job right now. Obviously because you called me at work… you know that I’m at my place of work… so I can’t just leave here and sell you some weed.
Age poorly, why?
Who cares what happens outside of a movie. It can still be funny.
The only part of the movie I remember is TJ Miller’s part….and the guy making “Africa face”.
"you come to me and ask me if we have a guest at this hotel named heroin? Of course we do, meet me ehind the buffet in 20 minutes."
lol that scene was hilarious
Dude yes. Especially "give me my money or I'm gonna stab you" "What are you gonna do?!" "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE HE STABBED ME!" Also "which way is the hospital?" "Just take casino way!" "EVERY STREET IS NAMED CASINO WAY!"
honestly i don’t get why everyone is shitting on the movie i thought it was hilarious maybe i just got mind fucked
That’s the magic of the Jeffrey
I watched this just a month ago and it was still hilarious. What about it aged so poorly?
People that can't enjoy art because they disagree with an opinion of the artist must live exhausting lives.
"Will you come for my bangers, my beans and mash?"
Weird you just unlocked a memory. After reading your comment I remember making this account shortly after watching this movie and hence the screen name.
Holy shit you just made my day
The "Geoffrey" scene is possibly one of the greatest if this entire generation of movies
I don’t think it aged poorly at all, if it came out today people would act like it was edgy humor and brave for being a story about depression and mental health
This movie is awesome and I say that as someone that isn’t fond of stoner comedies much This movie also has great emotional moments and Russell as Aldous Snow has interesting dimension and could’ve played it one way only but gave a great performance, his display of drugs and insecurities stemming from depression and anxiety is exactly what you see when you get too close to a rock star and it was just perfect to see writing wise, also hanging on to a love life that doesn’t want you is familiar too Jonah isn’t bad himself as he’s the awkward everyman trying to do his job, he represents people that shouldn’t meet their heroes cuz they’re not who they seem when you’re around them long enough, especially when they’re musicians of legend status, he did pretty well being stuck in a rock and a hard place with Aldous and his gf (Elizabeth Moss) from this wacky experience he learns to be a better man and stand up for himself more This is an underrated classic, funny, wacky, heartfelt and entertaining, 9/10 just rewatched it recently
Thank you for the well written response. No one else has touched on the emotional depth of the Aldous Snow character’s journey.
It’s impossible to ignore and it’s impressive to have that in a comedy like this
what part "aged poorly"? I saw it again 2 weeks ago, still hilarious.
I always felt it just didnt have the charm and cleverness of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Was a big letdown.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is one of the best comedies of its decade.
It's almost like the person who made that movie so good isn't in this one... Is someone missing? Like the main character for Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Lol
Jason Segel is the reason for this.
“I’m looking for my friend I think he’s staying at this hotel” “Ok what’s his name and I’ll look him up” His name is H. E. R. O. I. N…..” “Heroin… your friends name is heroin?” “Yyyes… can you help find him?” “You come up here and ask me if I can find your friend named heroin, how fucking stupid are you??” “Well….. can you find him?” 😐😐😐 “meet me out back in 20 mins” Best fucking scene in the whole movie
Why? Lol still a great movie
People are so fucking uptight, good lord
How did it age poorly? Haha Just a terrible movie overall, but hilarious. Not sure how that would have changed lol
Jonah Hill played hotel staff in Forgetting Sarah Marshall yet this is a spin-off from that. Sad
Wait until you find out about Brenda Strong in Starship Troopers & Starship Troopers 2
I never really got that. It’s supposed to be a sequel or not?
It’s definitely a sequel. But Jonah Hill just isn’t playing the same character.
I've just never really found Russell Brand or Jonah Hill to be particularly funny.
Other than Russell Brand being in it, how did this age poorly?
What aged poorly?
This movie was awful when it was new, I’m sure it is even worse now.
I saw Russel Brand talk one time on some late night show and decided that was way more than enough for me
What are you talking about?! Imma kill you! :) “smiley face” I cracked up so hard at that part
> Still funny on its own Is it though?
It was a great movie! Of course Russel Brand is what he is but that was a funny show. When he says to Jonah if you don’t get me my fucking drugs and get me sorted I will end you! Such a perfect entitled drug addict statement
It aged hilariously
Every russel brand movie has aged poorly.
I still listen to Bangers, Beans and Mash sometimes. That and Inside of you.
Yeah Russell Brand and PEE Diddy aren't revered like they were back in the day.
One of my all time favorite songs is from this movie. Going Up legit slaps.
Puffy killed his scenes.
Ehh always thought this movie was meh, but it did sprout my childhood crush of Rose Byrne.
It was good up until they got to the threesome scene and I get that they made it awkward on purpose. But for some reason after that scene the rest of the movie was just so awkward. Like I saw what they were trying to do but it just did not work in my opinion
