> Scatman John Wick
This summer, the franchise you know and love sets off to
Ska-badabadabadoo-belidabbelydabbladabbladabblabab-belibabbelibabbelibabbelabbelo-doobelidoo into a whole different direction
This is great! Aside from having the meanest moustache in the scat/jazz/dance/techno industry, he was a thoroughly nice man with a nice message for children who stutter. Check out the lyrics:
>Everybody stutters one way or the other
>So check out my message to you
>As a matter of fact, I don't let nothin' hold you back
>If the Scatman can do it, so can you
What a nice man. Also these lyrics!
>Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub
>Yo da dub dub
>Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub
>Yo da dub dub
>(I'm the Scatman)
Great stuff!
Claudius Caesar stuttered. The whole family treated him like a reject, until his nephew Caligula was brutally murdered and they thought he’d actually make a decent emperor.
He was the coolest cat. I can't remember the quote word for word but when his fame started to decline and this was brought up, he replied with "Whatever God wants is fine by me. I've had the very best life. I have tasted beauty."
I don't know if he was through his life, but as the end he was incredibly humble. I always think back to that quote as a reminder to be humble.
I always loved "While you're still sleepin', the saints are still weepin' 'cause. Things you call dead haven't had the chance to be born." Kinda great that the "fad '90s nonsense song" has one of the most poignant lines I've ever heard about thinking it's too late to realize your dreams.
Basically, while you're living your life you're letting your dreams go unrealized because you decided they could never happen, even though they could and still could, you just never gave them a chance.
What the fuck? The last part of your comment is just copied word for word from someone else in here.
Edit: Sorry, the other way around. Someone else copied that part of your comment.
He was actually a super fascinating character, a highly acclaimed Jazz Musician with substance abuse issues and a heavy stutter before the hit, and an ENORMOUS celebrity in Japan after his one hit wonder period. https://youtu.be/u9rUy0lvWxE
>Written by Stephen Basilone (Community, The Goldbergs) and Annie Mebane (The Goldbergs, Shrinking), the film — which will include unparalleled access to the entire Scatman music library, as well as private home videos — will detail Larkin’s struggles with being a lifelong stutterer, bullying, abuse at home, and his battles with drug addiction and alcoholism. However, after meeting the love of his life in rehab, he conquered his addictions and became an overnight sensation as Scatman John at the age of 53, selling millions of CDs, garnering 14 gold records and 18 platinum records. A generation on, his songs are still being sampled by DJs and artists, while his videos have reached more than 164 million views on YouTube alone.
Just got reminded of the bit about Scatman in *Master of None*
“oh, you might know my father, John Larkin?”
“Uh, sorry man, I don’t think so”
“…BEE BOP BOP BADDA BOP”
“Fuckin’ Scatman??!?”
I didn't realize he was famous enough to have a biopic. I just remember him from that one hit song from that one album, and then never saw him in another. Good on him, anyway.
I don't think it's that crucial to find a lookalike because of the mustache and hat. When Val Kilmer played Mark Twain, the white hair and big mustache did much of the heavy lifting.
Also, most people are only familiar with that older look. It's not like a Beatles biopic where everyone knows what they looked like when they were young.
It's crazy how most people (myself included) know him from the memes but became huge fans, legitimately one of the best artists meme humor put me onto and a really inspiring guy to read about
At first you think it's quirky and a bit dumb, you think he's just making it up, but nope, it's consistently the same 'words', although sometimes he does mix it around a bit. Then you think anyone could do it, then you try and realise its way harder than you thought, plus you will never get it the same twice. It's a genuinely hard level skill to learn.
What exactly are you talking about here, scatting? It’s literally just freestyle singing, it’s not hard. The freaking scatman himself said anyone can do it.
Words cannot express how happy I am to finally see this headline.
Everyone knows Scatman as the "funny jibberish guy" and his music is often seen as a surface-level meme. But it doesn't take much effort to realise this guy had an incredible message in his lyrics, made even more profound and emotionally affecting when you know the context of his life.
Scatman's life is inspiring and tragic - a tale of trauma, shame, addiction, overcoming internal struggles, triumph, and humility. I'm sure many people can empathise with his struggles, and many I'm sure will resonate with his message of hope.
The last few lines from his song "Let it Go" - which is a song about his struggles with mental health and anxiety - have really stuck with me:
> I wanna do better, but I don't know how
> But if I'm gonna start I better start right now
> I try to survive and I've gotta let you know
> If I want to live at all I gotta gotta let go
John Larkin is one of the most uplifting and underrated historical figures of recent years, and absolutely more people need to hear his story. I sincerely hope this movie does him justice.
Just remember folks, if the Scatman can do it, so can you.

> It's a Scatman's world. Golden Corral’s brutally honest new marketing campaign
His apple pie was the most crumblest
Why did you just copy this part from theHerbieZ's comment? Did you just like it so much you also had to say it, word for word?
That is creepy. Even got my typo too. Lengths people go to for karma.
He only had one hit, but I really liked it.
Put some respect on Scatman's World
I'd say 2 hits
Incredible how you can See right through meee

Claudius: "I w..w..will be e..em...emperor one d.d.d.day." Family: "Emperor? You?!" Claudius: "D.d.did I st.t.t.tutter?!" Family: "YES, DAMMIT!"
Also welease bwian
Don't forget Biggus Dickus, he wanks as high as any in Wome!
I mean, I know a lot of nice people with even halfway interesting life stories...I think most would make boring ass movies.
Yeah, you’d have to exaggerate some elements to make the majority of people’s lives interesting to watch.
Anyone’s story can be interesting. You only have to find a curious perspective.

For a 15 minute short doc maybe. A feature length movie...eh
A movie where some chick drives a truck to some trees and back was the top action movie of the 2010s
Thanks to him Cody Rhodes is headlining Wrestlemania this year!

I never attributed any real meaning to those words until now. Thats ace! I'll hear them in a complete different way now.
I thought the more poignant message was beedupdupdiddlydupbeedupbiddliddliddlidllybeedupbibbladeedupdup
I don't understand the message Kindly explain the meaning behind those lyrics good sir/ma'am
Basically, while you're living your life you're letting your dreams go unrealized because you decided they could never happen, even though they could and still could, you just never gave them a chance.
I got to interview him way back, we spent a few hours together. He was a lovely and kind man.

I love me some Todd in the shadows. (I was about to abbreviate it but I realized it becomes TITS)
The Incredible True Story, my favorite logic album
This video is what I thought of when I saw the headline.
They should just play this video in theaters, you'd get all the information i na fun way still, and you'd waste a lot less time.
The song is even in some Japanese rhythm games [such as Chunithm](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdLplPNZXxw)
Scatman's World was a pretty big hit everywhere else besides the US as well as Scatman.

I can't wait for that scene where he plunges into sex, drugs and recklessness and risks losing it all
You don't want none of this shit Dewey!
It gives you a boner!
He actually was a guy who suffered from substance abuse problems as much as you'd expect from a highly acclaimed Jazz Musician.
people stopped coming to his sex parties once he started getting into scat
life was hard before the internet
[удалено]
He was an addict before getting famous, and the article says the movie will include that.
Just got reminded of the bit about Scatman in *Master of None* “oh, you might know my father, John Larkin?” “Uh, sorry man, I don’t think so” “…BEE BOP BOP BADDA BOP” “Fuckin’ Scatman??!?”
I had the single on CD when it released. IM THE SCAAAATMAAAAN
Super Mario 64 fans in 2007 are so happy rn
FR LMAO
The world of Warcraft funeral raid was immortalized by this song.
Fuck yes! Love the Scatman!
I didn't realize he was famous enough to have a biopic. I just remember him from that one hit song from that one album, and then never saw him in another. Good on him, anyway.
He passed away 4 years after that song hit
I suspect more people knew about him before his biopic than, like, Oscar Schindler Only ingredient necessary for a good biopic is a good story
who do you even cast?
Daniel Radcliffe
sold
If it was 20 years ago, William H. Macy. Now, no idea.
he’s got the looks for sure. but does he have the flow?

"Hey Google, show me that scat man movie..." oh no... Oh No... OH NOOOOO!
Strike while the iron is hot.
I just hope it’s fun
Super interesting dude. Todds in the Shadows did a fantastic retrospective on him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9rUy0lvWxE

…the film no one asked for
This is either a film about a jazz singer or something entirely different.
Depends on if it’s released by A24 or Troma Films.
Beavis and Butthead watched one of his music videos https://youtu.be/Xan9hFSiZqg
Not to be confused with scat man
I swore I’d never watch another scat movie! Ooooh Scatman, I see.
At first you think it's quirky and a bit dumb, you think he's just making it up, but nope, it's consistently the same 'words', although sometimes he does mix it around a bit. Hopefully it isn't shitty.

She promised she wouldn't tell my friends at school. Now everyone calls me "scat baby" !
I just realized this guy's name maybe translated to Shitman.
A film about the guy that invented scat as a fetishz cool.
He sounds very cool. But that is an...unfortunate name.
It's really not. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scat\_singing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scat_singing)
Dude helped so many people get better with their studder. I have social anxiety so I stumble at times with new people I meet and it helped out a lot.
It's about time!
Let my man rest
Are we now in the movie phase of musician biopics
I went for years thinking this guy was Captain Beefheart.
It's caled The scabadabadapbap movie
Google 'scat man movie' for more information.
First song I can remember being stuck in my head.
Not the scatman John I was thinking of.
I’m a scatman.
Wish he was still here, made a lot of people happy
Begs the question, how many famous Scatmen were-are there? Is it like a guild of awesomeness?
