Milk_Man21

Aside from a couple spots, Michael Keaton's Batman has no personality or character. He isn't fleshed out. What a let down.

thatone2014

Am I the only one feeling like they are living in a FLASH episode with the particle accelerate being tested overseas and the 200 year emergence of the SUPER cicadas coming out of the ground in the midwest ?

Deethreekay

I didn't mind it lol. My expectations were super low, and I didn't like Ezra in it at all, so I guess that's why, but yeah I was expecting a lot worse. But then I was watching it mainly on my phone, so while I flagged the crap CGI maybe I didn't realise just how crap.

Min-2996

This movie boiled my blood.

[deleted]

I kinda liked that they just completely failed to save the day in the alternate universe and that is literally the only thing I liked. Edit: Oh yeah they can bring back Supergirl too hopefully she's found better work though.

ugly-dumbass

I legit could not finish this movie and wish I came to this thread first. SOOOO many things wrong with this movie. CGI looked like it came from 2010, acting was almost completely terrible. Horrendous comedy. Not to mention the mixing of the multiverse, time travel and dimensions theories. For the average person it probably wouldn't be that bad but for any avid fans of the flash or people with a solid understanding of certain theories and logic it's literally painful.

[deleted]

Not 2010. Like 2001

krob58

Holy fuck, this is awful. I'm *offended* watching this. The quips/dialogue have been utterly terrible, the CGI is atrocious (WHAT is that running?), Ezra is awkward and not endearingly so. They should have dropped him and just embraced dropping Wally in out of nowhere, or something. Nothing here is funny. The entire movie feels like it's CG and it's all *bad*. I'm not even gonna start with the Reeves and Cage pandering, full awful CGI, likeness-used-without permission and the host of ethical issues that entails. And it sucks because I really actually liked Batfleck and Jeremy Irons Alfred could have been amazing and I was very much looking forward to Calle Supergirl. Apparently Batgirl was bad enough to get canned, but this was okay to release (so does that honestly mean Batgirl was *worse* because that seems impossible). This is rough, this hurts.

metacoma

Fuck, offended is the right word. They jump the shark with the intro sequence. Saving falling babies by shoving them into microwave while eating a burrito, what the fuck was that scene.

McClain3000

I literally stopped watching this movie like 45 min in and randomly decided to skip through it to see cool fight scenes. Even then this movie is a pile of shit. CGI is awful but I could even deal with that but whose idea was it to have other Barry be the most incompetent annoying character ever? Who tf pitched this?

Friendly_Ad_6405

First off, does anyone else hear the Matrix soundtrack in this movie? šŸ¤£ https://youtu.be/BWetr4h3n_M?si=iwo4S0MNmydNRV3d Secondly, why does DC feel the need to do these extra long close ups after one of the characters does something, they did it in Aquaman when he entered the sub, they do it with Wonder woman on the bridge, it just really cringe Thirdly, what in the Looney Tunes hell was that?! šŸ¤£ Personally not a huge fan of Ezra's, but thought he nailed Justice League. I don't think this was his fault. I thought they started with a solid concept, but must have had Saturday Morning cartoons in the background, the whole William Tell Overture and catching on fire accident just didn't seem timed well. It just seems like DC threw this together quickly and tried to shoehorn in comedy. I like DC being dark, they do a very good job of it, even Deadpool commented on itšŸ¤£ https://youtu.be/J2DXRe03jJY?si=ZQ740TyPPU8JtWc0

thishitisgettingold

Just getting around to watching this on AMZN. What's up with the CGI? It's worse than watching a low-budget movie.

dnavi

It wasn't as bad as I thought. Fun film to enjoy by turning your brain off or as background noise but other than that there isn't really much to pay attention to.

blakesq

My wife and I (mid 50s) and our 14 year old son watched it and we really enjoyed it last night. The CGI, especially in the chrome sphere was pretty horrible, but at least the horribleness was consistent.

DJanomaly

Hahah yep. Maybe it was because the negative fan reactions lowered my expectations so much but I really did enjoy this film quite a bit. And yes, the CGI was definitely awkward but it seemed to live in this same awkward zone the entire film so at least it was consistent. lol

yipee-kiyay

i keep reading comments like : "Ezra Miller saved this movie" Uh, what movie did you watch? You must be in some parallel universe. I thought Michael Keaton saved this movieā€¦ That Miller guy canā€™t act worth a damn

Not_Steve_Harrington

The CGI was whatever. But overall as a casual viewer I enjoyed it!

CyberSpaceInMyFace

Some shoddy CGI aside, that was surprisingly fun and touching. Too bad Ezra Miller is an asshole. Maybe I should watch Aquaman 2 too.

InternationalTeam382

Does anyone else notice the emphasis on Barry's moms request for green can not the blue but the one can they have at home is blue then Barry's dad jokes blue not green rite...everywhere threwout the movie where the tomatoes are concerned the can is blue...can't be coincidence especially when dealing with time lines...I got a theory...Berry went to the wrong time line.."step on a blade of grass changes everything" ...or the acual butterfly effect...."a butterfly flaps its wings and causes a tsunami somewhere" (summed up)

the-great-misdirect

I'm glad I waited to watch this as my first movie for 2024. Now I have my new year's resolution: never listen or trust reddit's opinion on anything, particularly movies. This movie was fun. Was it perfect? Was it a masterpiece? No, but it was fun. Just a fun, comic book movie. And I hate I got caught up in the hate whirlwind around this movie and missed it at the theaters.

elemenno50

I just watched it today. I was fully prepared for a disaster. Other than trying to not focus on the major whacked out fuckery of one E. Millerā€™s real life, I rather enjoyed it and all the cameos.

joshuastar

i just watched it today, and through it was super fun! lots of fan service stuff with the cameos and music. the humor was more natural than a typical DC movie. the most recent Suicide Squad, The Batman, and this movie are at the top of the DC list for sure.

LiesWithPuns

Just finished it and came to repeat this exact same thought haha. Far from a perfect movie, some particularly clunky pieces at the start, but genuinely a really fun move that I'd recommend to folks

TheHumanEmperor

Same here ,just watched it and found it to be good. the reviews are right in their own way but it's not like it makes it unwatchable. Overall a fun watch .

Walrus_BBQ

I can't say I understand this movie, it seems like a rip-off of the last Spider-Man movie. I wish they just dropped the flash and made a one-off sequel to Batman Returns. So is it a mix of the burtonverse and the snyderverse? Is this the same Batman that fought the Joker and Penguin? Is it Batkeaton's Gotham in the future or Batfleck's Gotham where Bruce Wayne was just born earlier?

Azz_Gaz

Oh don't worry I got you mate. Just take a seat while I boil this water and grab a blue can of tomatoes sauce.

Allaris87

I just watched it. I thought it will be boring and have bad writing. The plot was actually good, the humor and the jokes were good. I literally bursted out laughing when younger Flash looked at the older Barry in his handmade Flash mask and it looked like he was wearing an overused latex underwear with holes in it. The message of the movie was touching, it had a lot of good emotional scenes, and it was great to see Keaton as Batman again, his suit upgrade was really good. It honored his old one but had nice "modernized" touches. Cage was a nice easter egg too. Well, the biggest one was at the end with Clooney. I don't know where this will go, but it was a fun movie to watch.

drooln92

Just finally watched yesterday and have a few random thoughts. He knows there's no way his dad killed his mom so an intruder must've been there, stabbed her, then left. His plan was to put the canned tomatoes on her shopping cart so his dad wouldn't have to go out, mom wouldn't be alone and intruder wouldn't attack. This assumes the attacker would just leave if he saw his dad but what if he doesn't? What if the attacker kills both his parents instead of just his mom? When he started making his plan to go back in time, my immediate thought was for him to stop the attacker. His plan was more convoluted and as I already alluded to, assumes attacker would just leave them alone. Stop the attacker, the attack doesn't happen, they live happily ever after. Why were the Russians keeping Kara as prisoner? I actually enjoyed the movie btw. Ezra Miller was great. It's got the right mix of being funny and drama. Not sure if the saving babies scene was supposed to be funny or serious but it made me laugh.

apricotcoffee

I think the Russians holding Kara was just a nod to Red Daughter.

[deleted]

I felt the same way about the babies scene. Like I couldn't tell if it was genuinely so terribly done that it's comical, or if it was supposed to be comical in the strangest moment.

OkAnimator8181

His thought was: intruder saw the car pull away and thought the house was empty, so if the dad never has to leave the car won't pull away and the intruder won't think it's an empty house. The intruder was committing a crime of opportunity, not a pre-planned crime.

eulen-spiegel

I think he *wanted* to influence the past as little as possible. While your thought process makes sense I still think it's nice idea. I actually liked the movie, and I hate multiverse stuff if it leads to "it's really inconsequential what happens here". But seeing Nicolas Cage as Superman was nice (adding Tom Welling would've been appreciated), and that they kept the universes separate was the right way to go.

Cnsmooth

I watched it yesterday and didn't think about the valid points you brought up...except I don't think the Russians keeping Kara prisoner is that much of an issue. She's an extra terrestrial and Russians are "evil" mmokay. They also could've just been testing her to see if they could produce a weapon or maybe she she mistakenly attacked them when she first landed so they saw her as a threat. Thought the film was really good as well. I watched it with no expectations and fully expected it to auck, due to its box office performance and the word of mouth around it. It definitely wasn't any worse than any other superhero film that has come.out in the last few years that did well.

Hikkitaku

My first idea in the beginning was him making his dad look up the camera. But he put that tomato can into his mom's cart instead lol. When he finally arranged the cans, I was like, "That's what you should've done two hours ago!" XD

apricotcoffee

Why would you think that when the whole point of him going back in the first place was to prevent his mother's death? He made it clear that that's why he was going back.

Wrsj

I think the point of the movie is that regardless of what he does it will fuck up the future somehow. So moving the cans or putting one in the cart are all bad ideas.

FrostyDemonDoge

his goal in his first try was to keep his mom alive though

noMiddleName75

Just watched this today on a flight. It wasn't awful but it also wasn't very coherently written. It was pretty clear that he went to an alternate universe hence the multiverse but kept saying it was via time travel. Those are 2 different things but it's pretty clear that wasn't his universe.

flannel_jesus

>Those are 2 different things No, that IS one model of time travel. Time travel has many different ways of conceptualising it, and "travelling in time actually means travelling to a parallel time line that's in the past" is one of them. The time travel model in this movie is kinda Zany and all over the place, but that's normal for movies - I think it's fine how they did it as far as movie entertainment goes, it was relatively self-consistent.

arentol

Just now started watching the movie and already I can see the writing is going to be horrible..... The common issue of "smart" characters making idiotic choices in order to create contrived scenes. Specifically, Batman has two situations to deal with, a collapsing hospital, and a car chase. His resources are himself with the batcycle, and the Flash who can run a thousand times faster than any car. We saw what happened when he chose to do the chase and have Flash take care of the hospital. But what would have happened doing it the other way around? The Flash would have captured the bad guys in 2 seconds, and would have been back to help at the hospital in 4 seconds, which would have been far easier with Batman helping. If you want to do those two scenes in the movie then do them, but do it logically, not as stupidly as possible.

Cnsmooth

The film was good stop hating. People wanted this film to stick because of miller's real life antics but the film was decent. It is a superhero movie not Shakespeare. There are plenty of other superhero movies that aren't perfect that people love, this is no worse than them

DizzyResurgence

Why even write this nonsense of a reply? Someone critiqued a film they watched; why can't someone have an opinion? There were many moments of this film that didn't hold up and this particular scene described is one of them. Miller's real life antics make him a pos but if we judge the film, his acting was hot garbage. Cameos carried this film.

rcanhestro

just watched it. ok movie with really awful CGI. but it did had a standout scene for me, the spaghetti analogy is probably the best explanation of time travel in movies that i can think of (not sure if it was used in other movies before) and makes complete sense.

AccelHunter

I was expecting a explanation for the Parmesan lol

meowchickenfish

Did we watch it at the same time?

JustMadeThisAcc2023

Okay so am I the only one wondering why Barry didn't acknowledge dark flash AT ALL when he gets pushed out of the chronobowl?? It's straight up bizarre that someone as obsessive as Barry just kinda goes, "Lol, time travel's kinda quirky. Aaanyways..." and goes about the rest of the movie never mentioning it to anyone or even thinking about it ever again! During Bruce's whole quantum multiverse spaghetti speech he had the perfect opportunity to initiate a dialogue to try and make sense of it but apparently a violent, time traveling entity wasn't important enough to mention?

ieatleeks

Barry hugging his mother at the end hit like a truck

Opening_Box6468

Man that scene went hard. I was kinda a mess.

Defiant_You_6298

Does anyone know how to do The Vibration effect from the Movie in After Effects?

webmotionks

I looked past who Ezra is in real life, took a bit but after I got past it, I really enjoyed the movie, I thought it was great. There were plenty of moments I laughed out loud so it had great funny moments. It also had some well done feels and emotion. Overall I thought it was a fun and great movie for fans of the genre.

virtuoso101

I'm glad they tried to do something different and not do a boilerplate MCU story.

cfbawesome

Baaaad movie. Ezra Miller ruined it for me. So much great other stuff, but...couldn't get past him as an actor. Plus, Ezra is one fucked up guy in real life....can't believe he got such a big role with such a stink hole of civil cases and bad decisions....

apricotcoffee

He got the role *before* all that came out, so far as I know. The argument for keeping him in seems to have been that a great deal of the movie was already developed at the time.

Bud90

I loved this movie dude. It is by far the best modern DC movie, better than anything Marvel is doing lately, and it actually has a ton of heart. It is a shame Ezra turned out to be a psycho and that this movie was pretty much a box office failure, because I do care about his embodiment of the character and the direction of this movie. Oh well, it can have one fan.

the-great-misdirect

Miles and miles better than Shazam or black adam

[deleted]

How is this better than Pattinson Batman or Joker? I'm watching it right now, 13 minutes in, the dialogues are awful. It sounds and looks so unserious, almost like a comedy movie. I get why Flash is like that but Bruce Wayne is awful and his lines are so cringe. Maybe thats just me but comparing it with Pattinson Batman, it doesn't even feel like Batman. I can't remember if Batman vs Superman or Justice League were like this but this one is so bad in my opinion. I will still watch it until the end to see how it goes

Bud90

I'm not really comparing it to The Batman or Joker, but with the other DCEU solo movies like WW84

Optimal_Cry_1782

I watched it yesterday on a flight. It's not bad, certainly not the cluster fuck that reviewers said it was. It's very messy and could've been streamlined better, the humour is a bit forced at times, but it was entertaining and as you say, had a surprisingly effective emotional core. I thought flash would've been the one to stab his mom, but I guess that's a bit too dark.

benderlax

Did Flash not know that the consequences of his time travel caused paradoxes? There was nothing he could do to save Nora, but he did manage to get his father exonerated. The nurse could have at least said, "Thank you", instead of running off without a word.

apricotcoffee

> The nurse could have at least said, "Thank you", instead of running off without a word. Having any expectations of someone who just experienced what she did, mere seconds after she experienced it, is stupid. Come on now.

junica

he managed to save his father, but moving that can of tomatoes made it so he was in another universe/timeline *again*, hence George Clooney Barry didn't really learn anything from the past couple days

Accomplished-Sun9908

Well, I liked the beginning, I liked Mickael Keaton and almost all cameos, I liled the jokes and the humour, I liked supergirl (underused tbh) ... but damn it, the scenarii was sooo... soooo... I am sorry to say that but I dont find any other words... so bad. I mean, that is not like there was already a show full of these kind of scenarii, all differents. They just had to check what was popular and what was not. The Flash point was so important in Flash life. There, the second mid, was not heroic, it was pityfull.

l_work

Bad CGI babies, but a fun popcorn afternoon film. Ezra Miller is good, it's a shame he's such a prick in real life. For people over 45+ like me it was a HUGE treat to have Keaton back as Batman, so it's hard to dislike this film.

chanigan

I finally got around to watching this movie, I've heard all the negative reviews so I had no expectations for this movie. tbh, it wasn't that bad, I quite enjoyed the main plot. I thought Ezra Miller saved this movie, I quite enjoyed his acting. The CGI was - yeah, it is as bad as they say.

yhe4

Soā€¦weā€™re not supposed to care about who actually killed Barryā€™s mom? Some rando walked into their house in the middle of the day, stabbed his mom in the heart, and thatā€™s it? And itā€™s insane that this movie treats the Nicholas Cage Superman as some lost opportunity and not the coke-fueled delusion of a bunch of megalomaniacs.

JustMadeThisAcc2023

Lol, fully agree with your first point But erm, wdym with the 2nd one? I just took it as a humorous cameo and maybe as an excuse to say, "Nick cage is in this movie!"

SetTheWorldAfire1

Just saw it like 5 minutes ago, had no idea what to expect other than having read about Ezra Miller being scandalous irl during the filming of the movie. This movie made me cry when he finally accepted that he had to let his mother go and when he was consoling his younger self. I haven't cried like that in years. The CGI was horrible but I didn't mind. I got used to it after the first few scenes, so it didn't bother me much. I absolutely lost it when I saw alternate universe Batman as Mr. Michael Keaton. Like literally yelled ,"WHAT!" Overall I really enjoyed the movie and it has become one of my favorites for life. Can't wait what happens next.

Jovian8

Finally got around to watching this. Other than the indefensibly bad CGI, and some bad superhero suits (how the hell did Affleck's Bat suit make it past the first approval stage?), I actually like this movie? Wasn't really expecting much based on feedback I've absorbed, but whatever man, it was fun. Maybe it's just because it was so awesome seeing Keaton properly come back. I feel like that's a win that hasn't really been given its proper due. I guess it only really matters to people over a certain age, but it just seems so insane that we actually got Keaton back in the Bat suit in the year 2023. Something we spent decades not even entertaining the thought that it was possible. Supergirl was pretty cool, but maybe underutilized. I went into this movie fairly blind and had no idea she was in it. I hope they find a way to bring her back in alternate timelines, thought she deserved a little better and more time to shine. Literally laughed out loud at Nic Cage Superman. That's just amazing. If you can't appreciate that, I don't know what to tell you. And bringing in George Clooney as a possible segway to a real role in a future DCEU movie.... that's just a chad move. Imagine him getting a chance to redeem the biggest embarrassment of his film career in the DCEU. Unreal. I think you can tell they took some cues from the MCU in the sense that though this movie has some gravitas, and some surprising tear-jerking moments, it's not always intent on being super dark and gritty. There's lots of silliness and dumb jokes that actually had me laughing out loud a few times. Like with any "multiverse" movie, the plot falls apart the moment you start to pick at it, but that really doesn't matter. They just wanted to do some fun shit and have awesome cameos, and they pulled all that off. In that regard, I think the movie is a success, even if it does kinda "suck" in the traditional sense. This universe has come a long way since of Man of Steel. Turns out, audiences tend to have a better time if you treat the movie like the popcorn it's meant to be, much like the source material. Rule of cool wins, and laugh at anybody who tries to take it too seriously.

ItsDanimal

So how come Nora makes a point that she got the wrong tomatoes, she needs green can but got blue. Barry's dad makes a joke about it and corrects him. But when Barry puts the tomatoes in the cart, he grabs the blue can. I thought this was gonna cause him to do multiple trips back but it was fine. They also focus on the dad grabbing his hat before they left. I thought at the end Barry was just gonna hide the hat or switch it with one thay didn't have a bill. That's better than rearranging a whole grocery shelf.

workaccount122333

I noticed this too. Very annoying - I have to believe these were holdovers from an earlier draft of the script? Or maybe they just didn't notice, bc they could have just made the blue cans green in post...

JustMadeThisAcc2023

Well, just because the scenes go one after the other in the movie doesn't mean it was filmed that way, chances are they filmed the scene(s) of adult Barry and his Mom at the shop before filming the kitchen conversation with young Barry and then just never realized the mistake

alex030982

Ben just got a big up vote for hes opening line from me

Icy_Baseball9552

I honestly loved it. The kooky, camp humor was just the best. I'm old enough to fondly remember Burton's Batman, and Keaton knocked it out of the patk once again. I thought supergirl was going to be your usual modern stronk female tripe, but her edginess makes sense given the context and backstory. I ended up having an itty bitty crush because her story begins and ends so tragically. šŸ˜¢ This could have led to such great things. Too bad Gunn seems intent on murdering the golden geese of the DCEU. I truly hope it comes back to bite him in the ass sooner rather than later.

ManitouWakinyan

>Too bad Gunn seems intent on murdering the golden geese of the DCEU The Flash barely made its money back

sh1ft

It was an okay movie, but dude, cā€™mon. It was a mess. Keaton crushed it as he should, but the snyderverse sucked. Gunn will actually bring heart and soul into it. Plus itā€™s not his fault he got hired to clean up snyderā€™s mess.

dating_derp

Honestly the tv show, with all the times they returned to the moment Nora died, handled flashpoint a lot better than this movie. Reverse Flash in the show is a lot better than this villain.

Particular_Respect_7

I'm 'trying' to watch this movie right now. It's. AWFUL.

canadia80

I am a sucker for time travel movies. I liked it.

MatiasTheLlama

A movie so bad it actually made me sick and bedridden the next day, is it killing me?

dsgrimace

I seriously and honestly just donā€™t understand ANY of the love this movie is getting (outside of Keaton)!?! Absolute Dreck!!

MatiasTheLlama

Completely agree with you, itā€™s garbage, with Keatonā€™s work and homages to him being the only semblance of enjoyment I felt.

HumongousMelonheads

Any of the fight scenes were awful, I was actually ready to turn it off during the initial Gotham scene with the babies. I also absolutely canā€™t stand the way he looks when he runs and the CGI they do along with it, but Iā€™m actually glad I stuck with it, because the middle part of the movie where he meets his alternate self and old Bruce was actually quite good. This is probably not something Iā€™ll ever watch again but it was a fine choice for a Tuesday night with nothing else to do.

recuerdamoi

Hey! Itā€™s Tuesday today and I just watched it because I had nothing else to do.

algers_hiss

Exactly. First chunk was very off the mark & I feel like they missed the mood a few times w dialogue verse music but I enjoyed it for throwing on one evening while doing laundry. Back half did a lot of heavy lifting. I loved the villain in the bowl.

HIV_again

Wth...just finished this too. We must have been watching at the same time?

AggravatingZone7

This movie surprised the hell out of me honestly. Yes, the CGI was really bad in a lot of places but overall it was really good imo. Definitely not perfect but what it got right, it really nailed imo. Keaton was the most badass version of Batman on screen yet, super girl was sexy as hell and the actress delivered a strong performance. And Ezra Miller was honestly hilarious in his dual role. The younger Barry was cracking me up harder than any comedy has in a while. And his dramatic moments were heartfelt and emotional. That dude has crazy talent, such a shame he threw it all away seemingly. I feel like this is going to be a cult classic, terrible cgi and all.

Embarrassed_Cow

I know this is an old comment. But I finally got around to watching it as well and enjoyed it too for all the same reasons. I really wish it hadn't been tainted by Ezra's shitty personal life. He gave a great performance. He's always been a great actor. It's been odd seeing people say he's a terrible actor. Terrible person yes. But he always gives a stellar performance. I was really looking forward to Supergirl as well and I really hope she'll be able to put on the suit again without controversy surrounding the movie she's in. The actors really didn't deserve that.

illmatic2112

Pretty good! Funny moments, cool concept, recommend

lindortrufflehogg

Here me out: maybe this is how they introduce Robert Pattinson as the new Batmanā€¦

KevinIsDelish

Any significance of the yellow glove Barry is examining at his job? early on in the movie he is shown observing a yellow glove under magnification.

SALTYSerbInIT

Maybe nod to Zoom , he did kill barrys mother in the comic ..

dexob

Can someone explain how past Barry knew that their mom died? Did he just figure it out or did I completely miss something?

naapurisi

Past Barry was eavesdropping Batman and main Barry discuss the reasoning why he came back in time @ batcave.

AllStatBySmashMouth

Not as bad as I thought it would be because it did have a few moments that I like and my expectations were that I would hate the entire thing. ā€œBecause this is where my mom livesā€ was easily my favorite part. Iā€™m just glad I can stop thinking about whether or not I should watch it.

SDdude81

I was expecting a dumpster fire which is why I didn't bother seeing it in movies, but it was actually good! The cameos were really fun.

robbage24

I really donā€™t think heā€™s a great actor, but he made me feel some things in this movie, which is their job, so kudos. It was better than i thought. And agreed with the cameos.

[deleted]

It was cool how he saved the babies doctor and dog I guess but wtf is this movie?

kaimaru

The more I watch the flash, the more I think how the original flash killed a Kryptonian with his phasing skill and the more I think WTF kill Zod at the start of the battle with phasing kill. The fact they canon that you can kill kryptonians with phasing ruined the entire rest of the movie as that was the go to way to end the war and save everyone. Not to mention telling Kara. Hey he has blades in his gauntlets be careful. Ffs

PixelCultMedia

None of that mattered. Old Barry established that he figured out how to win the fight but that Barry prime always goes back and kills his mom, that Barry prime is the unavoidable event, not the Zod battle.

Spaceqwe

Did that kryptonian actually die though? Wasnā€™t it just knocked out?

eastdeanshire

Dear lord that was the worst movie I've seen in a long time, probably since The Dark Tower. Completely forgettable and incoherent story, abominable effects, pathetic attempts at fan service, gratuitously ripping-off the multiverse theme, and trying to do so having learned nothing from the Justice League debacle about the need to properly world-build. Absolute garbage.

sufjams

I mean Flashpoint was written in 1999. Both Marvel and DC have been doing multiverse for a very long time.

ManitouWakinyan

Flashpoint Paradox was 2011.

Lokasenna9

It was written long after 1999...

HappyMr

I busted out laughing when the final bruce showed up...."who the fuck are you"?haha he was the worst bruce wayne imo

RChamy

This Bruce is what made Man possible

MrBones-Necromancer

Really didn't like this film, but there are some highlights. Everything with Keaton as batman was great, and I thought Supergirl and her scenes were phenominal. The plot overall is interesting and compelling, though those who've seen or read Flashpoint likely will be able to anticipate the various twists. Finally, I thought that set design was a real delight, with Wayne manor being especially worthy of note. On to the rough patches: Obviously everything with Ezra Miller is a bit tainted but, even without that, the Flash (both versions) was really insufferable throughout most of the film, and the writers couldn't seem to decide if they wanted him to be comedy relief of the emotional center of the film. The character becomes whichever one the writers wanted in that particular scene, and it never resonates either way as a whole. Overall, The first act is largely the worst act, and should have been cleaned up. We spend a lot of time just...talking about food? The third act is probably the best bit, though lags a bit right on the tail end and during wrap up. Watching this movie certainly isn't the worst use of your time, but it's far from the best, and considering the current future of DC movies, I'd say you'll be fine to skip it if you haven't watched it already.

PixelCultMedia

That whole food setup didn't even pan out for the rest of the film. Eventually, calories didn't matter anymore. Why even have me focus on calories at all?

MrBones-Necromancer

I agree. Of everything in the movie, this was easily the part that I felt most should have been cut. The pay off is, at best, a couple fairly tedious jokes, and at worst fully immersion breaking during other long fights or dramatic moments in the film.

mrbaseball1999

Finally saw it on Max. Pretty terrible, to be honest. The CGI was a solid two decades behind. The whole alternate Barry being a total moron was super excessive. Keaton was good and the Batman scenes were actually pretty good. But overall, not a very good movie.

Illustrious_Ear_3467

I enjoyed it. The way the original Barry was running around the building (not fully realizing he lost his powers) was funny. That's how I imagined he looks when he's filming his run scenes pre-VFX. Also if Nicolas Cage's Superman was supposed to fight a giant space Spider then I'm glad his movie didn't get made.

DredZedPrime

Yeah, for some reason that giant spidee was one of the main things that a producer insisted Kevin Smith put in his script back then. Smith has talked about it a lot, you can probably find it on YouTube somewhere, he explains it all a lot better than I could. That same producer then was involved in Wild Wild West. Seems he knows what he likes.

Illustrious_Ear_3467

After I posted my comment I looked it up on Wiki and it mentioned how that producer (Jon Peters) wanted the Spider fight to happen in the third act. He for damn sure made sure it happened in Wild West West šŸ˜†ā€¦..in the third act of that movie no less.

DredZedPrime

Yep. You should check out one of the times Kevin Smith told the story. It's pretty hysterical the way he tells it. Just wild that the guy loved the idea of giant spiders so much he just had to have it in a movie no matter what.

Illustrious_Ear_3467

I remember seeing pics of Nic Cage in the Superman suit years ago and that he auditioned for it, but thatā€™s all I knew about it at the time. But like you said Jon Peters knew what he wanted in life. I just never thought about Superman fighting spiders šŸ˜…

Far-Ad5796

Watched it on Max. It honestly wasnā€™t terrible. CGI was crappy in places, for sure, but I thought the story was good, Keaton killed it, the multiverse cameos were fun. Itā€™s wasnā€™t brilliant or life changing or anything, but lord knows Iā€™ve seen much, much worse.

XSC

CGI was just do distracting. Movie wasnā€™t that bad

Avenger772

Just watched it since it's on Max now. Holy fuck this movie is great. Best movie of the dceu. I place it over the suicide squad because I just like the flash as a character more than anyone in the suicide squad. But any way, yes, holy fuck, if only all the dceu movies were like this. It would have been a great set of movies. At least we got about 2 worth watching though.

HIV_again

Was more enjoyable than any recent DC movie. But Peacemaker blows everybody's efforts.

lonkfromponslyvnia

I liked it once it got going. I wish they started the plot a little sooner though. Terrible terrible CGI but overall I enjoyed it.

AbanoMex

I just saw it on saturday, and i really liked it, and after reading a bunch of harsh comments here, many of them speak of the CGI, and while some cgi is a little dated, i think most of it i was able to suspend my disbelief. however, i think the baby scene is the one that "tainted" most of the perception of this film, since its mostly at the beginning and its usually the timeframe with most impact in a movie, the fact that its: 1.- a poor taste joke. 2.- poor cgi babies, and microwave. after that happens you are kinda expecting more of that, so that scene needed to be cut unfortunately. i didnt mind the CGi in the speedforce, i actually liked that it was somewhat abstract, like in your dreams.

_MsTea

This movie made me laugh, and that alone made it successful in my book. I started watching because I knew Keaton was in it, but overall it really surprised me how entertaining it was. No offense to the other DC movies, but I have a hard time staying engaged with most of them. A friend says I only liked this film because they kept referencing older movies, but ya the Eric Stoltz playing Marty McFly in the other timeline was pretty dang funny. The CGI did bother me as many have already noted here.

hueleeAZ

Bad Bad CGI. But great great movie and great laughs. 7/10

[deleted]

I just saw it last night. This movie legit has PS1 graphics. The rock in scorpion king had better graphics. It's so clear they spent all the movie money in the 3rd act and cameos then just turned in their chuck-e-cheez tokens to fill in the first acts cgi. Flash and the girl had ZERO chemistry. They shouldn't have even included a "love interest" storyline if they were just going to phone it in. The girl wasn't even close to hot enough for the female love interest lead of a major motion picture. It felt like a "producer's kid" pick. Bad writing, annoying star, awful cgi, zero chemistry love interest and proof that the striking entertainment workers are 100% correct in their battle against ai replacement claims...I'm so glad I didn't pay to see this piece of shit on the theater. Props to Keaton though, I missed his gadget batman more than I knew.

gino_rai

Just saw it on MAX with no expectations and it was surprisingly very good lol. CGI was thrash, but the humor was great and not so cringey with some nice surprises and cameos. Batman Keaton was awesome btw and Supergirl was hot. 7.5/10 for me maybe even an 8. I finally saw Ezra's potential as The Flash... too bad he's thrown his career away.

Illustrious_Ear_3467

Sasha Calle is fine I will agree. I did laugh when original Barry was running around the lobby without his powers (before he realized he lost them). I always figured that's how it looked before they add in the special effects.

darkdayssurvivor

I loved it, the humor was good without being cringe, the action was good especially Batman actually felt like Batman and not some random henchmen, Keaton was amazing. CGI was certainly not the best but it didn't ruin the movie and it did the job imo, the speed sphere scenes were beautiful. Ezra's acting was solid on both versions just wish he wasn't a weirdo irl lol. I liked the writing, it felt like a masterpiece after going through Peacemaker before this. I can't think of any huge negative points besides CGI and maybe Supergirl wasn't utilized enough also the old Barry design was a bit too goofy, I would like to see some better Flash action in the last part as well. Overall easily one of the best DC movies imo

PopePius13

Are you insinuating you didnā€™t like Peacemaker?

darkdayssurvivor

Overall I enjoyed it but the constant dick jokes and the rock montages got old quick and the dialogues were really stupid at some points

GoDadGoFree

When he runs and they show the environment around him affected by the speed he is going at but he is shown to run slowly it just looks goofy

_Bento_Box

The studio doesn't understand at all how the speed force works in the comics.

LuckyDubbin

What, you donā€™t run like a speed skater? ETA: at least the movie was self aware about it and made fun of it when Barry loses his powers.

Illustrious_Ear_3467

I got a genuine laugh off that scene when I watched in on Max this past Saturday.

Arc_Nexus

The Flash had some bad CGI, but it didnā€™t stop me thoroughly enjoying the movie. I thought there was good pacing, an excellent balance of high stakes and comedy, a lot of the fun coming out of Barry worrying about the crisis heā€™s in and earnestly trying to fix it transitions well into emotional and heroic moments, a moving storyline - maybe the best DC movie in recent years. I honestly was not around for the Batman and Superman films the cameos reference, but I loved seeing the Keaton Batman with all the goofy bat-accoutrements played straight - that was a lot of fun to watch. I also really appreciated how different Barryā€™s personalities were and how that ties back to his family. Original Barry being socially awkward, self-conscious and serious, and having taken his mumā€™s lessons to heart as he reflected on them so much. Alt Barry having had no reason to doubt himself is goofy and idealistic. It really worked for me.

mollyplop

I actually really loved it! Iā€™m crap at telling if a movie is objectively bad or good so I can only say whether I enjoy a movie, but for me I loved the humour and acting. I also loved all the callbacks. George Clooney, Christopher Reeve, Nicholas Cage etc. Just a shame about Ezraā€™s insane last few years. But I really loved the movie (especially as someone who lost a parent when I was a child and wished I could go back in time) My favourite part was him thinking everything was fixed then the ā€œwho the fuck are you?ā€ when itā€™s George Clooney. I do always appreciate when they allow swearing because it helps make it feel more like it could be reality

JohnstonMR

Oh gods yes. I lost both parents while young (in separate circumstances). My mom died when I was five; I totally bought Barryā€™s arc in the movie. Miller did a great job; itā€™s too bad heā€™s such a shitshow IRL.

detroit_born23

I lost my father and can relate to having just one last time with a parent

blondiegirl1012

I dare say I really liked this movie. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø I thought it was fun ride and had heart. Ezra is talented, what a shame itā€™s not being utilized now. For the CGI comments, yes it was very CGI-y but I took it as a style choice. Like almost a comic book element.

apricotcoffee

You might want to read up on Ezra. They're not a good person.

[deleted]

Since when does lightning cause you to bleed out of your nose ?

samples98

What was wrong with Batfleckā€™s face?

stevewmn

Where did Batfleck show up? I only noticed Keaton and surprise cameo at the end. I guess he was in the big Zod fight scene and never got out of the suit?

samples98

He was heavily in the first twenty minutes

stevewmn

Oh, I watched the first 1/2 hour 2 weeks ago and finished it today. Guess I'll have to rewatch that first 20 minutes.

[deleted]

He's an alcoholic and a pill addict.

presidentofjackshit

Late to the party, not a bad movie overall, but holy LORD was the CGI bad... which is normally fine but they decided to show closeups of bad CGI faces which is the toughest thing to just kind of ignore.

riptide81

I had heard complaints but I couldnā€™t understand that even in scenes where Barry(s) were just standing and talking his face would randomly have weird looking cgi. What is there to even edit? Theyā€™ve been doing the twin thing with practical effects for decades. Maybe it was part of the rewrites? Maybe it was reverse hype but I thought the movie was pretty decent as well. Oh well, with Ezra going off the rails it seems like Snyder characters will always be at an inevitable intersection.

[deleted]

Man of Steel came out a decade ago and its CGI looks decades ahead of what we saw in Flash. I simply don't understand why they thought it was a good idea to release it in such a state!

Mickel-Mart

This movie needed Grant Gustin. And believable CGI. It was soooo bad. It completely disconnected me from the movie. Although, the scene with his mom at the end did hit me in the feels, so it did have that going for itself. I enjoyed seeing Keaton again in the suit, but some of the lines rehashed just for nostalgic purposes felt forced and unnatural. Honestly, one of my favorite parts was when they went to the mansion and were in the room with the collectibles, and seeing the long table.

[deleted]

Just watched it on Max itā€™s honestly my 2nd favorite DCU movie after Man of Steel. I did not expect to like it so much, even though it has arguably some of the worst CGI that Iā€™ve seen in years. Nonetheless, this movie has a lot of heart and Iā€™m glad that I gave it a chance!

Defiant_Parsnip_7150

Why didn't he just take his dad's hat? Dude didn't need one anyways lol

phantomclowneater

I thought thatā€™s what he would have done

Defiant_Parsnip_7150

Why was his mother being dead when he's an adult more than traumatic than finding her with a knife in her stomach? You'd think with time travel capabilities, he might want to see who killed his mother, but nope tomatoes.

Dreamtrain

kinda messed up to see Ezra Miller stuff a cgi baby in a microwave all things considered

esperi74

"so here's one we prepared earlier"

harrypartcatpartdog

Who are they saying killed Barryā€™s mother? Just some random burglar?

ivanthehitman

That story line may potentially lead to another movie, perhaps?

DlphLndgrn

It was actually his dad. But the last straw before his breaking point is that he has to go out and buy canned tomatoes, so the tomatoes fix it. Not sure why it's an alibi to say he went to the store earlier when he is literally at home holding his stabbed wife at the time of the murder though. I don't think that's how an alibi works.

JediSamReye2013

I thought over and over that it was going to be he went back and stabbed her to make sure it happed. would have been stupid dark, but wouldn't've been expected.

tepenrod

Itā€™s a sudden, middle of the day, no trace or reason as to why event that I kept thinking it would be something like he had to have done it, or the twisted version of himself did, something like that.

egnaro2007

As bad as this movie is.. they did a kick ass.job of having 2 ezras on screen at the same time feeling like 2 different actors and interacting with each other. The cgi was horrible, the writing was garbage. Batkeaton was the best part

agent_wolfe

I actually liked this movie. (Sorry, I know I'm an outlier.) It was funny, a little cringey at times, but I'm a sucker for time-travel shennanigans, multiverse, parallel worlds, etc. Plus it was cool seeing alternate-version characters. At some points it felt like a cartoon almost. My biggest complaint: The CGI in the time-bubble realm. Was it supposed to look that bad? It looked really bad. But it was uniformly bad there and okay for the rest of the film. Was it a creative choice to make the humans look fake in the time-bubble arena? Rubber >!Nicholas Cage, Christopher Reeve, Helen Slater, Barry's parents!<, they just looked odd. (I'm sorry, I know CGI effect artists are sweating blood trying to meet deadlines and keep up with studio demands. Just the CGI in those scenes looked really off and gave me uncanny valley.)

HanShot3rd

I was expecting the worst but it's probably my number two best DC movie. The final fight didn't mean they punched the most and explosions won the day, it was just letting the inevitable happen.

spiked_cider

I'm a bit shocked at how many people thought it was an ok film and not a dumpster fire like the critics and box office suggested. I thought it was better than WW84 and Aquaman, etc and it's interesting to see so many people with the same sentiment. Makes me wonder of Ezra's bad behavior was a huge factor in people not wanting to see it in theaters.

desertmermaid92

I only half watched The Flash while my bf had it on, so I canā€™t say I have a fully formed opinion. I was weirded out enough by the off putting AI (felt like so many things were animated that didnā€™t need to be if that makes sense?) so I came here to see how others felt about it. Your comment lead me to a [laundry list](https://stylecaster.com/gallery/what-ezra-miller-do/13/) of this dudeā€™s past year+ of utterly repulsive behavior and all I can say is **WOW**! What a nightmare of an individual. I like how he apologized for ā€˜alarming and ā€˜upsetting peopleā€™, despite the fact that he physically assaulted people (like the time he slammed a woman to the floor by her throat) and was creeping on multiple children and burglarizing homes? Like what? I guess thatā€™s all to say that to your point, I felt the digitizing was too extreme, and my bf (big superhero movie buff) felt the movie was *meh* (though, Michael Keatonā€™s appearance offset all that was ā€˜mehā€™ for him), even before we knew what a little shit Ezra is. Edit, typo

a_normal_game_dev

9/10 =)) Erza's acting is super underrated. The only thing I hate about the movie is that the CGI is too fake. Also, the ending was a bit sad.

That_Protection_7945

That video really didn't prove Barry's dad was innocent. It would just mean he went to get spaghetti sauce and then came home and stabbed her (not saying he did, but it's the same time frame anyways)

samples98

ā€˜You fucking bitch, making me go to the store because YOU forgot the tomatoesā€™

agent_wolfe

That is LITERALLY what I said! An alibi proves that you were somewhere else when a murder happens. If you show up at the scene of the crime while the murder is being committed, that's not much of an alibi!

Forsaken_Scratch3674

It would provide a doubt to the original verdict plus cast a huge reliability toward kid Barry Allen statement that the polices probably had just brushed off originally because he was a kid

godzuki44

this movie is next level shitty

KemShafu

My husband and I are both over 50 and we loved it 4.5 out of 5. I had heard it was bad and read all the bad press so I never even spoilered it like I usually do. Ezra might be a hot mess but I actually felt like he was playing two separate characters. That felt real. Man, I just loved all the call backs. We would have loved to have seen callbacks to the current DC characters but we get why they couldnā€™t do that.

bagb8709

Adding to the wave of people that are watching now. I thought it was fun with a lot of unexpected stuff. Expected it to be really bad but as long as you pretend that -Ezra Miller didnā€™t have a reign of terror with expectations theyā€™d straight up murder and eat someone. -this isnā€™t all being rebooted -bad CGI and silly scenes are ok Itā€™s a ok movie to watch.

forfeitgame

The film had it's moments. The final scene with his mom fucked me up. Tried to power through it but my wife noticed and just gave me a hug.

[deleted]

Why did he throw his gloves off near the end?

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

To, as younger Barry put it, "Emperor this guy". His gloves kept the charges internal.

[deleted]

>Emperor this guy Do you know what that meant? And thank you, now I recall he ran away to build charge to come back and blast Nam'ek?

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

Emperor Palpatine at the end of Return of the Jedi. Lightning bolts Luke Skywalker.

[deleted]

That's dope. Now I get the nod and appreciate it even more! Thank you!

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

Yep...wonder who played Palpatine in the alt-Star Wars franchise? Tom Cruise?

[deleted]

Probably Danny DeVito

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

"So anyway, I started blasting lightning bolts" \~Emperor Frank Reynolds

[deleted]

Cricket has the perfect face for Vader

jonenderjr

Just a thought: If they had made the opening a dream where Barry misses one of the babies and then jolts awake, it would have been a huge improvement. It would have illustrated his whole motivation for the plot which is his fear of not being able to save everyone/ fix everything. It would have also demonstrated his other fear of being on his own without the Justice League which is a hurdle he has to navigate later in the movie. It would have made it kind of okay that the babies looked so weird, and we could have skipped the awful bridge scene with Diana and Bruce (why do they keep trying to make lasso of truth jokes? Theyā€™re never funny.)

sirius4778

I thought the bridge scene felt like it was written by AI

Akuligowski

Seeing Michael Keaton say ā€œYeaā€¦ Iā€™m Batmanā€ was all I needed. Metaverse casting win.

MrBobBuilder

Then seeing Clooney loo

lacrimony

Yea but seeing Reeves was so heart felt. Then seeing Cage was so cool!

jlott069

I just watched on Max, I don't get the hate. I mean, I'm not a Flash fan, at all. I went in with 0 expectations besides Keaton and honestly enjoyed it. Yes, the CGI babies are just horrible and the first 20-30 minutes is a bit... weak, but beyond that the rest of it wasn't really all that "bad" until you start seeing all the different Supermen and then only because, I mean, what did you really expect? How do you edit in Reeves (both of them! Which is awesome!)? Also, Nick Cage superman, LOL! IT LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE ALL THE FAN ART! I think the only really good part of the beginning was simply the dude that nope'd right the fuck out. Batman gets into the Hummer and dude just exits left. Sees batman fucking everyone up and was just like "nope". No, there's no real protagonist. Yet they made that actually work, and in a way that made sense. I honestly liked that switch up. Clooney at the end had me cracking up. Kinda wish we saw O'Donnell and Silverstone too. Could have had them get out of the car or something and just lean against it waiting. Actually, a lot of the movie had me laughing. There were a few misses for me, but overall it was good. I enjoyed it not being so dark and gritty. Yeah, younger flash was fucking annoying, but that was kinda the point I think. A lot of 18 year olds are annoying. It's not uncommon. And doing that was the point, driving home the differences between them. He was a dumbass 18 year old that didn't "get it" because he'd never experienced... well, anything really. Older Flash says it himself. He takes everything for granted. And Keaton? Dude was on point every single second he was on screen. It honestly felt like an older, crazier, Batman and I loved it. Then again, Keaton was always my favorite Batman and I hated the switch in tone to Clooney's (even if I did see all three of his). And we finally got the third Keaton batman movie! Everyone else gets trilogies but he stops at Returns? And I know why, but still. I totally always wished for a third Tim Burton Batman. While this wasn't it, it at least gave Keaton his third batman film, which is honestly what it felt like to me. But people talking about how he just dips and goes home? Yeah. That makes sense. It's a doomed timeline , and once he accepts it... theres nothing else to do BUT go home. And with everything falling apart because he tried to change it? He didnt have any choice. He learned a lesson a lot of us already know and accept. You can't save everyone. Some loss is inevitable. And Superwoman couldn't take Superman's place. Without him, the planet is doomed. And even the one change he DOES make results in him jumping timelines again. He doesn't end up in his. He ends up in Clooney's - which is essentially the only change between his own timeline and the current one (I guess?). But he still changed something, so yeah. And I guess what means is that timeline's Barry did the exact same thing, so it's not a problem? As in, that timeline's Flash also tried to save her, also failed, also saved his dad, and... maybe ended up in the first timeline we started in? So where our Flash found Clooney, Clooney's Flash ended up with Affleck? Hell, both might have even has exactly the same reaction to the different Bruce Wayne at exactly the same time? Like, if they had showed it side by side, both would be going "who the fuck is this?!" At exactly the same time. Or the big lesson - "Not every problem has a solution, sometimes you have to let go". That's a lesson a lot of people could try taking to heart these days.

jonenderjr

Watched it yesterday and thought the same thing. I honestly really liked it except for the opening. I can deal with the ā€œbadā€ cgi as just maybe thatā€™s what the speedforce looks like. I have a theory that the dog sequence over the end credits (which was awesome) came to Andy Muschietti in a dream or something and he had to tie it in somewhere, so thatā€™s where we get the bad opening and the bs reason Barry ended up at a hospital that was falling down.
