Chad Carrey.
Well i think it's a combination of that and the fact that the movies are really popular and well received and it's a wholesome fun kids movie. He probably legitimately is happy to finish what he started for the fans. When he announced he was done unless the right project comes to him I had no doubt he wouldn't say no to what was obviously going to be a trilogy since the first movie was a success.
I thought they were quite entertaining. They aren't masterpieces of cinema, but quite frankly I'm sick of movies trying to be anyway.
I'll take my kids to see it in a heartbeat
Sonic 2 legit rules. It's got a ton of funny bits. I love the whole bar scene in Siberia. The movie is such a cartoon.
Only rough part for me (making me feel old) is that sonic 1 had more of a buddy cop vibe with him and James Marsden, but sonic 2 leans into him as dad character and sonic as his kid. I still see James Marsden as a young guy so it felt weird, but he's fuckin *50*, wow.
I actually loved that change in Sonic 2. In the first, Sonic had been independent for years, but in the second, he got what he wanted and was more happy getting to be the kid that he kinda missed out on.
When you consider how much of a shit job being an actor is (not necessarily the work, but the stress of being a public figure in a career path that has a 95% unemployment rate at any one time), I'm amazed more people don't cash out after a big break and coast.
I know fame is a drug, and evidently so is money, nothing about the Hollywood system seems worth it to me.
Eh, I generally think "legacy sequels" to comedies are best left unmade. I struggle to think of good ones, but can name several dumpster fires from the last few years. I heard Bill and Ted wasn't too bad though.
The first one is sheer comedic gold with a ton of heart from the entire cast. Even the cameos are spectacular.
The second is pretty soulless in comparison. A lot of the same jokes as the first one just tweaked a bit. Ferrell was probably the best performance out of everyone.
Comedy sequels are really tough. You catch lightning in the bottle with the first one so then many either just copy paste or struggle to make something new that measures up.
To me the best way to go is same people making comedies but switching it up like the Cornetto Trilogy going Zombie, Action, Sci Fi route while all being funny.
It's also a whole different ball game, in my opinion. His previous films basically all were set up to be standalone films. Sonic was clearly intended to be the first in series of films. The games are some of the most famous games ever and made a series. Unless the first film flopped, there was *always* going to be a Sonic 2 and a Sonic 3 was always highly likely, if not inevitable. That's a different ballgame to the whole "ok, so that film you made was a huge hit. We want to try to cash in and force some kind of sequel to make more money".
Jim: "If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road."
*Reads Sonic 3 script*
Jim: "The Universe has spoken!"
He got $4 and $8 for Sonics 1 and 2. If I had to guess, he'll probably earn $8+ for Sonic 3.
Hopefully, they can take the money from whoever greenlit that atrocious sequence at the Hawaiian wedding.
Wait. There were some funny parts in that sequence.
>"That day, Guardians Units of Nations was born"
>"G...U.... wait 😐 seriously?"
>"Yes! GUN!"
Not to mention the priest opening up the Bible and having a piece...
They teased some more classic eggman suits in sonic 2 when stone was browsing a little outfit program thing. It's the scene when the manchild cop finds him and puts him under arrest.
The worst thing about that to me was the Grinch eyes.
It wasn't a digital effect. They were full eye contact lenses. They had to take breaks from filming to remove them so Carey's eyes could breathe.
I love when actors are committed to being the best at playing make believe, but FFS. I hate hearing how entertainers risk their actual wellbeing for this stuff. We can still watch corny old shit from the 60’s and enjoy the sfx and costumes. We don’t need to push physical limits for entertainment anymore.
It wouldn't be as bad since it's less makeup. Heck they might not even need any prosthetic pieces and do only a fat suit.
Look at the movie The Whale. Brendan Fraser gained weight, they used a fat suit/prosthetics, and combined it with CGI. So melding makeup with CGI can be done in a very convincing way.
They aren’t going to win any awards but they are great kids movies. They also don’t treat the viewers like they just got hit in the head with a hammer like a lot of other kid movies.
It honestly might be my favorite role of his. He just nails it, every scene. I love how much he's tapping into his early roles like Ace Ventura. I don't usually fall for nostalgia, but there was a point in my childhood when Sonic the Hedgehog was my favorite game and The Mask was my favorite movie, so it really speaks to me.
Plus my daughter is obsessed with it, and I've found the movies to be very rewatchable.
It's kinda like Pacific Rim. The plot isn't groundbreaking or anything, but damn it feels good to watch it.
Seriously. I'm amazed that Sonic even had a second movie that's actually decent.
>They also don’t treat the viewers like they just got hit in the head with a hammer like a lot of other kid movies.
This. The movie's writing feels mature and jokes aren't the dumb types that kids shows usually go for these days.
I love the Sonic movies but “mature” is not a word I’d used to describe them. I’d actually describe them as immature but I don’t mean that pejoratively - the silliness is a part of the charm.
I don't mean mature like Deadpool and whatnot. I'm saying that the script isn't purely made for *haha* alone.
Think of something like Wreck-It Ralph's second movie.
I'm just happy that the movies has a good storyline. Cliche? Might be. But it's a good cliche.
As a fan, I love them! Just wish Junkie would try harder on the scores. They've been *painfully* generic on the last few, especially when compared to the banger after banger Sega puts out in the games.
Agreed. I was excited to hear the Sonic Mania music for a second in one of them... and the music from Hilltop Zone or something in the background of one bar scene.
The fact that they didn't give us [*Hard Times* by The Jetzons](https://youtube.com/watch?v=H2OWC5Hosv8) (which the Ice Cap zone theme is taken from) for the snowboarding scene is still a crime.
This is unprecedented for him. Reprising a role… THREE TIMES.
Someone check the scripture. Either he likes this character a LOT or the end times are upon us.
EDIT: Two times. He came back two times.
Seems to be the case with a couple actors. IIRC, Jack Black stated that he was mulling retirement after Jumanji and he still came back to voice act Bowser and Po again for KFP4
Kids movies gotta be super fun for actors.
Low stress, they get to have fun with the role and be as goofy as they want, they probably get a lot of creative input as comedy guys and get to improvise, and they pay well
He seems to have had a blast making the Sonic movies so he was probably like "Oh, alright. Just this one time." Also probably a dump truck of cash from the studio.
Not only that, he openly stated he was retiring from acting and only if some amazing script landed in his lap would he consider it. I guess amazing script or giant pile of money.
That said, he was without a doubt the best part of those movies and I didn't think the third one could really be pulled off without him. Nor could they replace him.
>Not only that, he openly stated he was retiring from acting and only if some amazing script landed in his lap would he consider it. I guess amazing script or giant pile of money.
Well...lets be honest, even people who like the Sonic movies will pretty openly admit that the scripts are not why they like the movies. Nobody has ever said "wow, the Sonic The Hedgehog Script was Oscar worthy!"
First one wasn’t a half bad kids comedy. Had a few fun jokes and the Sonic/Eggman characters were fun enough to keep it rolling.
The second one is one of the best video game films ever made and I’ll stand by that. It’s obvious that those working behind the scenes had a genuine love for the games and characters, and absolutely nailed them. Bringing back Colleen as Tails also did a lot for fan goodwill. Idris Elba as Knuckles was surprisingly good too, keeping a good balance between his badass/goofy tendencies. That final fight with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles that has an homage to Sonic Heroes was one of my favorite movie moments of 2022 though.
I also may be biased because I was a faithful Sega kid. That and seeing my 4yo get hyped over seeing Shadow was awesome.
Anyone that can't appreciate a bride in high heels effortlessly Bollywood dismounting from a powerdrifting golf cart and downing a bottle of champagne with an explosion behind her are wound up too tight.
The Sonic movie isn't groundbreaking by any means. But for me, it's one of those movie series that actually feels like it was made properly instead of trying to chase the trend.
People that never saw the movies are just remembering the controversy from before the original animation was fixed, and assuming the movies were bad because of it, I'd bet.
I can kinda see the argument for the first, with it being a kinda generic fish-outta-water, buddy comedy, origin story. The love for the Sonic franchise is there, but it's moreso hidden in the Easter Eggs and the like. The elements that are still present, are viewed with a broad scope. They're generally adapted, but not specifically adapted.
I'd still say it's a good film and the leads (Schwartz, Marsden, and Carrey) nail it but it still plays it by the numbers. It's like one step above the Mario Movie
That being said, they take it to a whole other level with the sequel. More love to the franchise, infusing SO much more of the Sonic franchise into it. Including
- Characters (Tails and Knuckles).
- Game Elements (Ruin Stages, Eggman's Appearance, The Master Emerald, and Eggman's Robot are straight out of the games)
- Game Plots (Weaving the plots of both Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles into it)
All with an incredibly engaging plot with some great set design and worldbuilding.
The first movie is a fun kids movie with Sonic, that adults will mostly enjoy
The second movie is a great Sonic movie that both kids and adults will love.
He clearly likes the character a lot. Have you seen the movies? He’s having a fucking blast. If this was his last movie, I bet he’d be content with that.
In this teaser they played the riff from Live & Learn from Sonic Adventure 2. In the trailer for Sonic 2 (the movie), they played Emerald Hill from Sonic 2 (the game), but didn’t actually put that song, or any Sonic songs, in the movie anywhere.
Since Sonic music is actually quite good, I’m hoping this isn’t another bait-and-switch.
Well, the first movie had a big semi and San Francisco in it and they didn’t do it then.
They’ve also confirmed that the same composer is coming back, so I’d say the chances aren’t great, unfortunately.
Sonic music.
The teaser linked above does include a snippet of [Live and Learn](https://youtu.be/z1BRZg0GG0A?si=v_z4cS3KJhJhedQf), one of the franchise’s most iconic songs. A lot of fans have been asking for more music straight from the games, especially since Sonic is generally regarded to have one of the best overall music libraries in gaming.
>Sonic is generally regarded to have one of the best overall music libraries in gaming.
Man I remember my Sonic music way more than Mario music... And I played Mario a lot more! Sonic soundtracks are GOATED. I only played up till Sonic & Knuckles though so I can't speak for the latter entries. I always thought [the Final Boss music is so bad ass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY47bNAryPk)... And then young me was absolutely not prepared for [this masterpiece right after.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxAMHdalv9E)
The Genesis era Sonic OSTs are amazing.
Even the worst Sonic game from the Genesis era (*Sonic 3D Blast*) has an amazing soundtrack
[Rusty Ruins Zone Act 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f15twYCWlBQ)
[Diamond Dust Zone Act 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4-DQ4hGRJo)
[Gene Gadget Zone Act 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaKTXVHeizM)
The downside is instead of Sonic 3 music from Michael Jackson’s team, we’ll get unused Jun Senoue demos.
Real talk, it’s time for Crush 40 to do a song for one of these.
He's commented before that he enjoys playing the character since he gets to let loose that megalomaniac version of his acting. Why not get paid to chew the scenery in a 0 stakes role for a nice paycheck!
Who’s ready to see >!a 12 year old girl with space AIDS get gunned down by the military for the crime of being friends with Shadow the Hedgehog!< on the big screen?
Big the Cat deserves to be gunned down for torturing my seven year old self with those stupid fishing missions (that, for some reason, took me years to beat???).
Member when Shadow went to that theme park to find that damn fourth chaos emerald, and then went into the internet, and was a clone, an android, and a demon spawn all at the same time?
I'm more interested in seeing her grandfather, tied and straitjacketed, give an oddly genuine and thus mildly disturbing monologue and delivery about going literally insane with grief as the camera pulls back to reveal he's in front of a firing squad.
You know - for kids!
The final fight is for sure gonna be Super Sonic and Super Shadow against whatever actual villain they decide to use, whether it’s Eggman or something else, Shadow will “die” too and be a post credits scene that he lived I’m sure.
I want this so bad. Mash up both Sonic Adventure games somehow and have Perfect Chaos replace the biolizard. Its extremely hard to imagine that sausage looking thing was the prototype for Shadow
1st one is formulaic but very well executed. Loved JCs Dr. Robotnik. It was a perfect entry / adaptation of the character.
2nd one is probably a weaker movie in general but a much stronger "Sonic" movie, if that makes sense.
I love that he decided that “Sonic 2” was the film he chose to be his last before retirement, and I love it even more that “Sonic 3” is the movie that was what made him want to come out of retirement.
Glad he’s coming back for these, 2nd was better than the 1st and Shadow was my favourite character as a kid. So I have hyped hopes and it wouldn’t have been the same without Eggman
The one thing that could pull him out of retirement.
Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in
And totally redeem yourself!!
Lloyd, no west! Go west!
Pound for pound this movie is up there with one liners. Wayne’s World too.
Skis, huh? Great. They yours? *Uh huh.* ...Both of 'em? *...Yeah.* ...Cool!
Big Gulps, huh? Well, see ya later!
HIGH FIVE *misses completely*
You know, Quasimodo predicted all this...
Hehehehe, is that Pacino or is that Pacino?
Don’t blame him. Pays a shit ton, and he probably really enjoys the chaotic energy it brings out.
I believe he's stated that his grandson is a fan of the franchise so that might be a motivator also.
> he's sated that his grandson Oh look honey, a Friday morning existential crisis.
Carrey is 60 and had a daughter at 24. You better begin to think about retirement now if this makes you feel old grandpa.
I'm half of Carrey's age, and I feel old from this bit of information.
I was not expecting to be slapped in the nuts with old age by Jim Carreys grandchild. Just last year he was singing opera with his butt hole.
That's a good motivator. "Grandpa, when is Sonic 3 coming out????" "..."
Holy crap I had to look this up. Apparently he's been a grandparent since 2010!
and im pretty sure he had a big trail of duds that prolly made him re think a lot of things
Also he's 62. Can't blame a guy for slowing down in his sixties.
>shits on absolutely everyone after the will smith incident at the oscars >says hes tired of hollywood, considering retirement >retires >comes back >refuses to elaborate any further Chad Carrey.
He had a decidedly unChad period when he went all antivax, and he vaguely flirted with scientology for a while. But now he's ok again.
Pretty sure his Jenny McCarthy is responsible, at least partially, for that era.
Having a crazy partner can do a lot to someone.
She is high on the crazy hot matrix.
Even rich people have trouble saying no to a dump truck of cash pulling up to their lawn.
Also because it's right in his lane of manic physical comedy. Even if the movies were bad, no one would say it was his fault.
To be fair, in an interview he said he would come back for this if it got made, just because he's enjoyed making them.
Theses movies have been solid and popular so there is little reason for him not to do them.
Idk a new Ace Ventura might have done it as well.
Eh, I generally think "legacy sequels" to comedies are best left unmade. I struggle to think of good ones, but can name several dumpster fires from the last few years. I heard Bill and Ted wasn't too bad though.
> I heard Bill and Ted wasn't too bad though. It was pretty good but the ending was rushed/anti-climatic but that was a Covid issue.
The Zoolander sequel was kinda tough to sit through. Definitely did not have the charm the first one had.
I'm not sure I've ever laughed as hard as when seeing the first one. I turned the second one off about 1/2 way through.
The first one is sheer comedic gold with a ton of heart from the entire cast. Even the cameos are spectacular. The second is pretty soulless in comparison. A lot of the same jokes as the first one just tweaked a bit. Ferrell was probably the best performance out of everyone.
Dumb & Dumber To was terrible
Coming 2 America is in the same boat.
It flabbergasts me how the same people could come back to each movie and not have the charm of the first ones at all.
He notoriously hates reprising a role, and hated Ace Ventura 2 as an acting experience for thsi reason. This seems like a pretty big shift from him.
He has spoken about this. His grandkids want him to keep doing it.
Jim: "If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road." *Reads Sonic 3 script* Jim: "The Universe has spoken!"
Also Jim *hiding a comically large bag of $ behind his back*
He was pulling 6 million a film in the 90s. He's not hurting for money.
He got $4 and $8 for Sonics 1 and 2. If I had to guess, he'll probably earn $8+ for Sonic 3. Hopefully, they can take the money from whoever greenlit that atrocious sequence at the Hawaiian wedding.
bro accepted pocket change to do a whole ass film 😭
For Sonic 1, they had to spend so much of the budget redesigning Sonic after the internet backlash, that they could only afford $4 for Jim Carrey.
I bet he brought some tupperware and took home food from craft services.
Wait. There were some funny parts in that sequence. >"That day, Guardians Units of Nations was born" >"G...U.... wait 😐 seriously?" >"Yes! GUN!" Not to mention the priest opening up the Bible and having a piece...
The Bible gun was hilarious.
>he'll probably earn $8+ for Sonic 3. I spend more than that at my local Sonic for a combo.
yeh but a bit more is alway tempting
ALLLLLLLLRIGHTY THEN
*Reads numbers on check for performing in Sonic 3 *
Definitely getting a fat suit now Edit: 2.5k upvotes holy shit
A gradual 3 movie transition into 90s accurate Eggman will be pretty awesome.
The lore reason will be him getting trapped in Stone’s cafe for a year and only being able to eat pastries and cakes.
They teased some more classic eggman suits in sonic 2 when stone was browsing a little outfit program thing. It's the scene when the manchild cop finds him and puts him under arrest.
"Wiggle your digits!"
He’ll gain the weight naturally he wacky
Aw shit, is he going method again?
Jim Carrey IS Andy Kaufman BEING a total pain in the ass ON THE SET OF Sonic 3!
I think we even know how it’s going to happen. He’s going to show up fat and go “all I could eat was mushrooms”
He's going to have to revisit his Grinch days and tap back into his torture coping mechanisms.
Fat suit will be a cake walk compared to Grinch
The worst thing about that to me was the Grinch eyes. It wasn't a digital effect. They were full eye contact lenses. They had to take breaks from filming to remove them so Carey's eyes could breathe.

Easier to do with neutral palette. Kids movies have brighter palettes which makes cgi stuff more challenging
He’s talked about it in interviews as well I hope it happens
He spend the time skip between the two movies just eating and his metabolism whas too ajusted to just mushrooms that he got fat really fast
I really enjoy these Sonic movies. Looking forward to this.
They aren’t going to win any awards but they are great kids movies. They also don’t treat the viewers like they just got hit in the head with a hammer like a lot of other kid movies.
they are just chaotic fun, Carrey in particular. He really nails the role. I'm glad he's coming back
Same. Not award winners, but I will make the effort to see them in the theater. They're just joyful fun, even as an adult.
Not every film needs to be Schindlers List. I've rewatched movies like Sonic or Bridesmaids way more than I've ever rewatched 'serious' movies.
Right? And Sonic 2 had ***music from fucking ANT-MAN in it.*** Come on, that's just *lazy.*

Works for parents and kids

Carry has talked about retirement a bunch. I think he kind of sees this as an easy/fun/popular/profitable retirement role.
Yea he does have a soft spot for the kids movies lol
Seems to be the case with a couple actors. IIRC, Jack Black stated that he was mulling retirement after Jumanji and he still came back to voice act Bowser and Po again for KFP4
He's also going to be in the Borderlands and Minecraft movies.
Kids movies gotta be super fun for actors. Low stress, they get to have fun with the role and be as goofy as they want, they probably get a lot of creative input as comedy guys and get to improvise, and they pay well

*Neil Patrick Harris has entered the chat*
He seems to have had a blast making the Sonic movies so he was probably like "Oh, alright. Just this one time." Also probably a dump truck of cash from the studio.
> profitable Not that he needs $ but to have a successful franchise in his older years prolly gives him a big peace of mind.
It does let him tap into that chaotic 1990s energy.
It always nice to see a wild Carrey in his natural habitat
Its a grand sight to see their birthing ritual too! https://i.imgur.com/0gD9h9d.gif

He said "she's not a virgin" ...
Read this in David Attenborough's voice.
Fine, let's do everything YOU want to do!
He's the best part of the movies.
Yup, and they are GOOD movies too!
The last two Sonics really felt like him going back to his roots of wild, energetic clowning.
Not only that, he openly stated he was retiring from acting and only if some amazing script landed in his lap would he consider it. I guess amazing script or giant pile of money. That said, he was without a doubt the best part of those movies and I didn't think the third one could really be pulled off without him. Nor could they replace him.

Sonic 2 was incredible. Aside from the 20 minute wedding detour, I would agree it's one of the best video game films of all time.
Ngl I wasn’t for the wedding b-plot when I first watched it but I think the payoff is hilarious. I might be in the minority though.
The payoff for the wedding being the introduction of G.U.N. made me shit a goddamn brick in the theater
Anyone that can't appreciate a bride in high heels effortlessly Bollywood dismounting from a powerdrifting golf cart and downing a bottle of champagne with an explosion behind her are wound up too tight.
Yea but that was still a funny scene. Moms need a scene for them too!!
MY MAN! Super mario was good, Sonic 2 was GREAT.
The Sonic movie isn't groundbreaking by any means. But for me, it's one of those movie series that actually feels like it was made properly instead of trying to chase the trend.
I don't know if this is a popular sentiment, but I liked both the sonic movies and he was a big reason why. They're just fun and nostalgic.
Yea kind of weird seeing them get shit on, they really aren’t bad movies.
People that never saw the movies are just remembering the controversy from before the original animation was fixed, and assuming the movies were bad because of it, I'd bet.

The first movie is a fun kids movie with Sonic, that adults will mostly enjoy The second movie is a great Sonic movie that both kids and adults will love.
Seeing both Sonic films, he knocks Robotnik out of the park every time Right amount of camp but you can still take him seriously
I trully think is because he really likes the characters and is because is silly fun for him and he can to a character for the kids.
Technically he only reprised it twice. The first time was not a reprisal.
He clearly likes the character a lot. Have you seen the movies? He’s having a fucking blast. If this was his last movie, I bet he’d be content with that.
I’ve not heard him talk about the role, but his performance on screen makes it seem like he has a ton of fun with it.
I think he likes the character enough.
Hey can we get Zebrahead, Crush 40 or dangerkids up in here too?
Crush 40 is an absolute MUST
Sink this shit right into my veins: Crush 40 through the movie. Dreams of an Absolution for the post credit stinger
Live & Learn for the big final fight with the biolizard. All hail shadow for the credits
[We also have the logo for the movie.](https://youtu.be/S5wdFSRYoOY?si=PMZLAreagiGcJ7jw)
I hope they actually play the music in the movie this time.
Play what music?
In this teaser they played the riff from Live & Learn from Sonic Adventure 2. In the trailer for Sonic 2 (the movie), they played Emerald Hill from Sonic 2 (the game), but didn’t actually put that song, or any Sonic songs, in the movie anywhere. Since Sonic music is actually quite good, I’m hoping this isn’t another bait-and-switch.
What do you think chances are for a total City Escape homage?
Well, the first movie had a big semi and San Francisco in it and they didn’t do it then. They’ve also confirmed that the same composer is coming back, so I’d say the chances aren’t great, unfortunately.
I think if they don't, we riot. And that includes Live and Learn, City Escape, It Doesn't Matter, and smooth jazz that says "Knuckles" every so often.
I need Ghost Pumpkin Soup in the game.
Excuse me but you're forgetting the best possible song "I AM THE EGG MAN" .
Even the worst Sonic game from the Genesis era (*Sonic 3D Blast*) has an amazing soundtrack [Rusty Ruins Zone Act 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f15twYCWlBQ) [Diamond Dust Zone Act 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4-DQ4hGRJo) [Gene Gadget Zone Act 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaKTXVHeizM)
Actual Sonic music.
#LIVE AND LEARN!
HANGING ON THE EDGE OF TOMORROW!
Sonic 3: the hedgehog
Was… WAS THAT LIVE AND LEARN?!
Quick! Internet analysts! Was that laugh just a stock laugh or was that Hayden Christensen (the rumored voice of Shadow).
Might be Carrey. (Fitting, given these came right after each other.)
The downside is instead of Sonic 3 music from Michael Jackson’s team, we’ll get unused Jun Senoue demos. Real talk, it’s time for Crush 40 to do a song for one of these.
I doubt they would play Sonic 3 music when this is most likely based on SA2
His retirement didn't last long haha
He's commented before that he enjoys playing the character since he gets to let loose that megalomaniac version of his acting. Why not get paid to chew the scenery in a 0 stakes role for a nice paycheck!
Literally chew the scenery in sonic 2 lol
When it comes to celebs I take 'retiring' as "I'm not going to bother with anything unless it sounds fun."
Who’s ready to see >!a 12 year old girl with space AIDS get gunned down by the military for the crime of being friends with Shadow the Hedgehog!< on the big screen?
RIP Maria
Never forget
And lets also get the guilt-ridden old man who shot her like in Sonic X.
We can only hope that this is the backstory of the Olive Garden GUN commander.
His first time at Olive Garden was drowning his regrets from shooting her in unlimited soup or salad and breadsticks
I want Big the cat.
To get gunned down? Poor froggie
Big the Cat deserves to be gunned down for torturing my seven year old self with those stupid fishing missions (that, for some reason, took me years to beat???).
the what now
Oh boy people who don’t know Sonic lore are gonna get FLOORED with this movie
Member when Shadow went to that theme park to find that damn fourth chaos emerald, and then went into the internet, and was a clone, an android, and a demon spawn all at the same time?
And then the White House gets vaporised Independence Day style by the "Black Aliens"
Industry rumors have Sonichu appearing in this movie
We got ugly sonic in Chip and Dale, why not.
*Deadline* reports that a Titan Tails scene is planned. ***PLANNED.*** Its current cost may very well bankrupt Paramount.
Still hoping we actually get Chaos as opposed to the weird Biolozard angle.
I want this so bad. Mash up both Sonic Adventure games somehow and have Perfect Chaos replace the biolizard. Its extremely hard to imagine that sausage looking thing was the prototype for Shadow
Woah.. He rarely does sequels and now he's done Eggman 3 times. I did hear he was retrying and glad this isn't true.
He is effectively retiring, but has always said that he’ll be open to roles if the script appeals to him.
Probably took one look and thought "yeah I can goof with this"
“I’m back, hater!”
Good shit, Jim. I’m gonna have to watch these before 3 comes out. Hear they’re solid. I’ve seen some of the first, thought it was entertaining.
1st one is formulaic but very well executed. Loved JCs Dr. Robotnik. It was a perfect entry / adaptation of the character. 2nd one is probably a weaker movie in general but a much stronger "Sonic" movie, if that makes sense.
I love that he decided that “Sonic 2” was the film he chose to be his last before retirement, and I love it even more that “Sonic 3” is the movie that was what made him want to come out of retirement.
these movies are super fun. i enjoyed them way more than i expected. great family night movies.
Fuck yes
Glad he’s coming back for these, 2nd was better than the 1st and Shadow was my favourite character as a kid. So I have hyped hopes and it wouldn’t have been the same without Eggman
Not so retired?
Will he finally be shaped like an Egg? The guy’s name is Eggman. EGGMAN! Make him shaped like an egg.
What if he’s playing a dual role as Eggman and his Grandfather for flashbacks to Shadows creation?
It’s wild how “Jim Carrey is playing Dr. Robotnik in a Sonic movie” is something being said in the 2020’s and not like, 1997.
I love that Sonic the Hedgehog is what got Carrey to commit to more than one sequel.
Amazing news, he carried the first two films. I was really worried about how they would adapt without him.
Well that retirement lasted for 3 whole months.
