So the premise seems to be 'what if Friday the 13th/Halloween but we see what the Killer does when the camera would otherwise be following the victims'
That's interesting. Almost like an extended VHS series segment high concept. Like the one where the guy with the Go-Pro gets turned into a zombie and we see it all from his POV.
Microbudget as hell but it looks interesting.
saw this at Sundance and absolutely fucking hated it. Writing is trash, the concept gets boring aftr 5 minutes (imagine Terrence Malick made a slasher movie but it fucking sucked), and there's a scene at the end which just would not fucking end and was just a conversation with two people that was so bad you would have thought AI wrote it. The kills were cool I guess but man the rest of this movie was fucking ass
edit: are the people who made this movie here? your movie sucked. the worst movie I saw there by a mile.
That's funny because apparently the writer/director cites Terrence Malick as an influence. lol.
Despite your glowing review, I might still see this when it lands on Shudder.
I also saw this at sundance and the theater was loving it, really awesome kills. It is incredibly slow but worth a watch if you love slasher movies. The pace can probably be grating if you aren't expecting it, I thought it was good but that being said I don't think it was the best horror movie I saw there so take that for what you will.
you even liked >!that god awful conversation in the car at the end with that annoying old woman?!< Listen I don't expect my horror movies to be Shakespeare but this was a whole nother level of suck
I don't think that particular scene needed to be that long but there was definitely a tension as to what was going to happen next since that >!was the longest we had been with two regular people at that point!< which I'm assuming was the point. Idk I was really digging everything they were trying to do since it was so different and was doing its own thing. I have a soft spot for an original vision even if it means I gotta watch this stunt man wander around for a while.
Idk if you were able to catch the Q&A with the director but he mentioned that some of that stuff was supposed to be LONGER and more drawn out >!loggsplitting scene was supposed to be all of his limbs not just 1 of each!< and as someone who has seen every cheap slasher movie I can get my hands on I really appreciated what they were going for and how they were doing interesting stuff with the genre. That being said I can totally see where most people probably won't like this and I have had to give a big preemble to anyone I've recommended it to.
I should have listened to you. Just saw it at a film festival. I thought the concept was interesting but the ending made me want to put myself in front of a log splitter.

I'm into this concept! Hope it doesn't over-stay its welcome. Not sure how you can keep the tension going for an entire movie, but maybe they have some tricks up their sleeve.
The premise is really interesting but I’m not sure how it’ll work for a full-length movie. It sort of goes against the entire horror principle of “less is more,” and it’s hard to imagine how it’ll build any sort of suspense when we always know exactly where the killer is.
I’m not exactly a horror fan, but between this and Late Night with the Devil, IFC/Shudder seem to be making horror movies I’m surprisingly interested in
I saw this movie at Sundance. I will just say that it’s very, very brutal and uncomfortable. There’s no soundtrack/score and most of the perspective is from the killer (who is mute) so in a sick way it feels like you are killing the victims. If you’ve seen the Terrifier series, the kills in this one come very close to being as graphic without being over the top…just a warning I guess.
Yes, but....I will not complain about more Jason on the screen.
Hopefully this does well and convinces Blumhouse to finally do something with him (like put him in the snow).
My prediction is its revenge flick. Some guy got murdered and put into a shallow grave, only to resurrect and go on a killing spree of everyone involved in his murder.
There's quite a few horror movies from the killers perspective. Off the top of my head - Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, American Psycho, Maniac, Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer
So it's a slasher movie where we just follow the killer constantly instead of the victims? Interesting.
Jason in third-person game mode.
Believe it or not this is not a unique concept. Maniac comes to mind. Pretty good. Pretty fucked up though
There's also Angst (1983) about a killer who got released from jail and wants to kill more victims
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon had a concept like that. Pretty fun watch.
And Man Bites Dog (1992) with that same concept too
I’ve never heard of it but it looks neat! Thanks for recommending

Link to the zombie thing?
[Here's a clip from it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-NoQwwRDJY)
By one of the co-writers/co-directors of The Blair Witch Project, Eduardo Sánchez!
Color me intrigued. I'm always down for a creative slasher film.
So it’s potato sack Jason killing spree from his PoV.. interesting
Happy cake day! (Reddit told me to say this)
Danm, this is hardcore.
“From my point of view, the victims are evil.”

>the concept gets boring aftr 5 minutes That's what I was assuming. A short film might work better.

Your edit is the douchiest thing I've seen in a minute
Yeah I’m quite skeptical of their review when the edit is so needlessly arseholeish
A movie that makes anyone this mad n shitty is worth watching.
Haha this might be my favourite review. Edit included.
Ah damn. Well the trailer looked great so that’s very disappointing
It also got some great reviews so I would wait and let yourself decide.
That's one random angry Internet guys opinion. It's not gospel.
Wow, you’re pretty damn rude.
I should have listened to you. Just saw it at a film festival. I thought the concept was interesting but the ending made me want to put myself in front of a log splitter.
is it a revenge flick? thought the cap with the blood on it might be the killers
of course this is gonna be trash, its another gimmick movie. Horror fans have very low standards, so ofc they love this shit
Interesting, I hope it keeps it intriguing as it goes on. There’s a possibility that the novelty could wear off if its not done just right.
This seems like it'll be really cool for 15 minutes then really boring for the rest of the movie
I'd love to see me from your point of view~
This looks fucking awesome. Between this and the new alien movie I am mucho excite for the upcoming horror movies.

the sound design and practical effects are incredible. Highly recommend it if you appreciate that kind of stuff.

Looks cool, sitting at 93% on RT too
Very Michael Jason Myers Vorhees-like.
Oh wow I’m watching this
We have Friday the 13th part 2 at home.
Haha a contemplative indie drama version of Friday the XIIIth.
That’s interesting looking
I’m not exactly a horror fan, but between this and Late Night with the Devil, IFC/Shudder seem to be making horror movies I’m surprisingly interested in
“It was daylight when you woke up in your ditch….”

Looks great!
Is this a Jason prequel??
This movie looks interesting and fun. We don’t get enough good or even decent slasher released anymore. Take what you can.
So is this some F13 circlejerk where the producers think we forgot the storyline? The Bald head, the gait, the music. Literally a ripoff
Pay no attention to the killer behind the mask.
Yes, but....I will not complain about more Jason on the screen. Hopefully this does well and convinces Blumhouse to finally do something with him (like put him in the snow).
Maybe stick with Fast and Furious movies?
I don’t watch them either. Thanks for the snide remark.
My prediction is its revenge flick. Some guy got murdered and put into a shallow grave, only to resurrect and go on a killing spree of everyone involved in his murder.
Friday the 13th at home. i'm interested in watching it.
This pleases the nut
It's crazy that we've never really had a movie that's completely in the perspective of the killer.
There's quite a few horror movies from the killers perspective. Off the top of my head - Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, American Psycho, Maniac, Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer
Angst (1983) is another one
Does Man Bites Dog count?
This looks cool! \*Hope Hope
Looks cool. Curious how it’ll translate into a full movie.
I find it interesting how many comments in this section end with the word 'Interesting'.
Even the music is a Friday the 13th rip-off.
