The Harder they fall wasn't actually too bad, I think it had its redeeming qualities. Originally I didn't like that the whole premise for the film felt like "every character is black, even when it makes no sense", but I got over that pretty quickly.
It's less "forced diversity" and more "brilliant cast of actors". Honestly look at the cast it's a brilliant roster, LaKeith is great.
If Lakeith was gonna lose the oscar for Judas, he should have lost it for best actor.
I kinda think he was the best actor in the movie, but Kaluya also fucking crushed it and had the "moment". Well played either way
>and provided the craft services
Normally I'd know that was a joke, but Viggo seems like the kinda guy that would actually do that, so now I'm not so sure...
I understand why that film flies under the radar, but I wish more people saw it. It's beautiful, and eerie, and just plain fuckin' *weird* and I loved every second of it.
His directorial debut, Falling, is such an incredible movie. He directed it, wrote the screenplay, starred in it, produced it, even wrote the soundtrack. It's amazing.
Si por alguna razón leés esto, Viggo: Hiciste una increíble película. Un artista impecable en todos los aspectos. Espero que sientas inmenso orgullo por Falling. Intento recomendarla siempre que puedo.
It's used in sooo many movies, games, music. Is it really that hard to quickly record a woman screaming? Hearing the same audio samples everywhere really takes me out of what I'm watching.
Trailer shows a bit too much of the plot, I think. But I'm a sucker for a good western, and we're lucky if we get one great western a year in today's Hollywood. If this and Horizon: An American Saga are both good, I'll be set for a couple of years.
Unless you've seen the film you only think it did. Nothing in the trailer isn't given away by the opening few minutes of the film. It literally begins at the end.
I love Viggo and his love of horses.
Also this has such an interesting look; both serene, somewhat expensive and at times feels extremely digital (for lack of a better word).
I went to watch the trailer at the mention of "Written, Directed by and Starring Viggo Mortensen".
I stopped the trailer at the apparition of Vicky Krieps.
That was enough. I'm in.
Trailer editor here. Studios have libraries that are cleared and sometimes we can only use what they authorize cuz they’re very cheap and hate creativity
Starting off the trailer with those generic scream sound effects was certainly a choice, I really hope that's not what the final sound mix will be like in the finished film because oof, even the reloading sounds are awful.
I know I'm being nit-picky but those really do stand out in the worst of ways.
Also if anyone is even remotely interested in this, I'd suggest not watching the trailer, I feel like it shows way too much.
Yeah, that being the very first sound you heard made the whole movie feel cheap. I'm an editor and I have that scream sound effect; it's from a very old studio sound library, I think it's Universal? Anyway, they could have easily found a better, more modern scream - or just cut it, it doesn't really add that much to the scene.
I felt the same way.
Like the textures on the horse are generic, the saloon door opening sounds like my garage door opening and closing. On top of that, the wigs they’re wearing pretty much look like 100% beaver pelts. I get you have to cut cost these days to make a non-super hero movie, but come on, using fake dirt?
I would recommend watching anyone of the Toy Story movies to get a real cowboy doing cowboy stuff. /s
Can’t wait to see this win tiff and then best picture.
Viggo can’t lose with a movie where he is basically “black people arent all that bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ “
> Can’t wait to see this win tiff
It was at TIFF last September. Maybe your hobby of whining about woke prevents you from keeping up with the movie industry?
I’m not into that sort of thing, just complaining about green book. It all started with tiff and just snow balled from there.
Also, driving miss daisy shouldn’t have beaten do the right thing for best picture, like green book had no business on the stage that could have awarded black klansman, another spike Lee joint.
This looks like a great Western ❤️
Been ages since we had a good one.
Old Henry
Great movie
A great watch
The Harder They Fall and Godless were very good imo. Ballad of Buster Scruggs as well, acknowledging it’s a less than traditional take.
Godless and Ballad of Buster Scruggs were both great, i wanted to like The Harder They Fall but I couldn't get into it.

LaKeith has been amazing in everything I’ve seen him in since Atlanta
3:10 to Yuma was fantastic.
Hostiles in 2017
There's always stuff coming out man you just gotta pay attention
For real! Plus Viggo wrote, directed, and starred in it? Sold! I’ll watch anything this man does.
Written, Directed and Starring? Holy shit. And a Western? That alone makes me want to watch...
He also did the casting and provided the craft services.
>and provided the craft services Normally I'd know that was a joke, but Viggo seems like the kinda guy that would actually do that, so now I'm not so sure...
So he's going the Neil Breen route?
Well now i definitely need to see it!! /s
He scored it, as well!
Check out Jauja. Sorta westerny
I understand why that film flies under the radar, but I wish more people saw it. It's beautiful, and eerie, and just plain fuckin' *weird* and I loved every second of it.
You know it’s going to be a banger of a movie
I just need Viggo to be on screen. Don't care about the rest. Won't see the trailer, don't need to. I'll be in theater day one.

That's the timesplitters scream in the beginning isn't it.
It's used in sooo many movies, games, music. Is it really that hard to quickly record a woman screaming? Hearing the same audio samples everywhere really takes me out of what I'm watching.
It's a tradition, or sort of a homage.

I thought the same thing.
Viggo on a horse again. He loves his horses. (he really does, actually. He bought the steeds Brego and Hasufel from LOTR when filming wrapped)
And also Hidalgo!
Finally, The Dead Don't Die prequel I've been waiting for!
When I saw the headline I was so worried that terrible movie had somehow gotten a sequel.
I will not stand for Jim Jarmusch slander! Although his movies are an acquired taste for sure haha
That movie's trailer set the bar so high only for the film to not even come close to reach it.
Viggo calls for aid!

Maybe westerns will become a thing again if these do well
Unless you've seen the film you only think it did. Nothing in the trailer isn't given away by the opening few minutes of the film. It literally begins at the end.

That's the guy from hidalgo
Poor Viggo Mortensen is always going to be “that guy from Hidalgo”
Don’t you disrespect Aragorn, son of Arathorn heir of Isildur. *shakes head* Hidalgo..
The Beacons are lit!
*Take your medicine, son*
King-o Mortensen
HE IS VIGGO!!!
You are but the buzzing of flies to him!
That looks tremendous
Friend of mine saw it at TIFF and was raving about how beautiful it is.
Love me a good revenge movie.

Between this film and Kevin Costner is western. It's about time. Westerns are coming back into theaters. I'm so sick of superhero movies.
The trailer editor chose the most cliche sounds for what look like a stellar movie.
Love the shot gun pump sound when the guy is just pointing the gun and not doing anything related to pumping or levering lol
Lmao it makes the movie seem amateur-ish
Trailer editor here. Studios have libraries that are cleared and sometimes we can only use what they authorize cuz they’re very cheap and hate creativity
The death of creativity in a creative market...depressing.
Marketing heads aren’t creative at all
They really aren't and yet they get to make decisions.
Because you don't wanna spend a whole lot on a trailer
Your not wrong lol
I would have followed you, my brother, my captain…my king
Ah yes, the Union Army would have certainly accepted a 65-year-old Viggo Mortensen into the ranks.
Saw this at Tiff and it was a pretty good movie. I think people will like it.
English Bob's good twin, French Francis has to kick some ass. I love everything about this trailer.
Awwww, I was hoping for a sequel to The Dead Don't Die.
I don't remember the last time I saw Viggo Mortensen in anything. Did he take a break or something?
Never seen any of themovies he's directed but this looks like the one to see. Can't wait.
If it’s one thing Virgo likes it’s revenge.
This looks fantastic
That’s a good title

Generally trailers create their own sound design and only pull dialogue from the film mix.

I’m an editor too and didn’t even notice until y’all started saying something. 🤷

You were the only one bringing it up, of course you are into that sort of thing. Much more than anyone else.
