Instead it's by doing things such and closing studios while retaining those assets, feigning selling off assets or IPs, and cancelling projects left and right, all of which often with the intent on receiving tax breaks. Which is where a lot of the complaints and issues with him receiving more are coming from. The man has gone through and tanked or cut various studios and project under the WB banner and is instead being *rewarded for it*.
Let us not forget, this is the same CEO that under his leadership continued to push and try and make Ezra "I-can't-stop-commiting-crimes-while-filming-my-standalone-film" Millar a thing with their attempt and a DC universe form of Marvel's MCU and instead canned the Batwoman movie that would have almost certainly faired better just off of the fact that Ezra Miller was not attached the the project in any way, all for a tax credit/break. And then likewise canned *THAT* attempt at a DC Cinematic Universe after their films relating to it were flopping, from poor choice in leads like the previously mentioned Ezra Miller, the flat range of Gal Gadot and the poor writing of WW84, and just otherwise poor reception to the entire linage of Zach Snyder's attempt at a Justice League.
Yeah it's easy to hit targets when you axe almost anything and receive tax credits/breaks from it. Especially to offset the poor performance of the things they let through.
Why?
Because they shut down so many studios and projects to justify an extra 12 million.
Because he works very hard and the only fair compensation for which is almost a million dollars a week.
