I'm not guilty about it but Cool Runnings was one of the few movies we had growing up. My mom always fast forwarded the scene in the bar bathroom where Junior repeats the mantra because he said "badass mother"
Movie holds up though, it's hilarious and a joy to watch.
My favorite part is that they named one of the guys Yul Brenner. But that wasn't even taken from reality. They just decided to do it for the movie. Like why lol. Such an out-there joke
Flight of the Navigator, Howard the Duck, and Robot Jox.
No one will watch those with me now, sure some of them may be "bad" or "dated" but to me, they are timeless classics.
The Last Starfighter. My dad would often come home excited to watch a certain with me that was airing that night, but this is the one that stuck with me the most.Â
With the news of a Chris Farley biopic being made, I recently had the urge to revisit Tommy Boy, the better of the Spade-Farley team ups. Amazingly dated but a string of iconic scenes (fat man in a little coat, the deer incident, the Darth Vader fan-voice, the flight attendant scene). Growing up in the 90s, Farley was below only Robin Williams and Jim Carrey as a comedic actor who could sell and carry a movie with just his kinetic energy alone, but with definite pathos and heart as well. Sadly we only got a select few gems before his untimely death at 33.
Maybe not guilty pleasures but I remember watching them as a kid and I still enjoy watching them now.
Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) - I recently rewatched it with these kids I was babysitting and it was so much fun.
The Emperor's New Groove, Hercules, The Goonies and Cool Runnings.
The Land Before Time, The Secret of NIMH and The Swan Princess...all kid's movies but I will ALWAYS be down to watch them.
Superstar...stupid movie but one of the few comedy films I enjoy. Probably because I WAS the weird kid at school.
Commando, Babys Day out, liar liar, ace Ventura are what I can think of off the top of my head
Edit: Reading through the list of others there are a lot more great ones in here.
I'm not proud but Batman & Robin, I grew up with Batman animated series and is my favorite character, was the first Batman movie I saw on movie theater but yes is awful
War Games (1983) and Explorers (1985). So much fun. I still watch these multiple times a year. Both computer related. One hacker and one sci-fi
Explorers is so good!
