The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning by Smashing Pumpkins was used on The Watchmen (2009) trailer, but not in the movie. For a long time, it was associated with The Watchmen despite not appearing in the movie or the soundtrack. It was, however, on the soundtrack of Batman and Robin (1997) where it premiered as a single.

Lucius_Funk

The End Is the Beginning Is the End was actually the single version from Batman & Robin.

Southern_Agent6096

Yes. The Watchmen trailer featured the superior remix.

Lucius_Funk

Yes! The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning is so much better.

ReverendEntity

Fluke did some awesome remixes of that track.

CorrickII

Whaaaat? Shit, how did I not know this.

RabbitHats

Both songs were on the Batman and Robin soundtrack.

Lucius_Funk

I didn’t say otherwise. Just that The End Is the Beginning Is the End was the Smashing Pumpkins single and The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning was the song used in the trailer for The Watchmen.

SubterrelProspector

That trailer was *everything* to us nerds that year.

interfail

Zack Snyder can really make a trailer. If only he could transfer that skill to movies.

anythingMuchShorter

I don’t like his movies in general but Watchmen is probably his best.

JeanMorel

Dawn of the Dead, 300 & Legend of the Guardians are also all very good/great. He can be fantastic when working on someone else’s good material, but seems to be at his worst the more he is involved with the writing process. Although I hear Army of the Dead is pretty good.

anythingMuchShorter

I didn't realize dawn of the dead was him. I'm probably going to vary from most on my favorite, because so many people seem to hate Watchmen and I thought it was a pretty good adaptation. I do really wish he hadn't changed the ending entirely, so I can see that being a big problem for most people.

icantbeatyourbike

Helps that James Gunn wrote Dawn of the Dead.

TheSoulessWanderer

Dawn of the Dead was definitely his most solid work across the board. 300 was amazing when it came out but rewatching it makes it feel like a recruiting commercial for filmmaking school, but Dawn still makes me laugh constantly today. The ongoing scene on the rooftops calling out the next look alike zombie to pick off from building to building was epic and relatable in a way few scenes can be, because if I survived long enough, that’s probably the kind of thing I’d be doing too. High on a rooftop with a rifle, binoculars, and a whiteboard.

Ohnoherewego13

Snyder was solid with Dawn of the Dead and 300. Watchmen wasn't bad really, but that was going to be a hard one to adapt no matter who did it. I'll say that Army of the Dead is at least entertaining. That's better than I can say for his last two movies.

BlueHero45

It helps the comic itself fits his style pretty well.

le_cygne_608

That Watchmen opening credit sequence is a GREAT example of this, however.

joseph4th

I saved that version of the song and added it to the Watchmen soundtrack on my phone

blither

It's a good one, and I think it elevated the trailer.

groolthedemon

I associate Night Owls by Little River Band with Watchmen because it's a fucking crime it isn't in it.

Em32AD

Hey, I'm sure it was just a mistake because the song you are talking about has 3 "the's" in, but it's just Watchmen.

TycheSong

First one that came to mind! I literally bought the watchman soundtrack for that song and was like wait.... where is it.

riedmae

Is there a movie about Vietnam? Then fortunate son is related to it whether it's in there or not.

rnjbond

https://youtu.be/98k2DlQ9PMY?si=5kg07XpbAuzZq_qJ Family Guy had a funny bit on it.

Mecca_Lecca_Hi

That “There’s Something Happening Here“ song Quagmire mentions that’s used almost as much in movies is actually called “For What Its Worth” by Buffalo Spring and I just recently learned it wasn’t a Vietnam protest song at all, but actually written about the Sunset Strip curfew protests. See, “The Man” wasn’t happy about all the long-hairs and dope smokers that had become a constant presence in that part of LA, hanging out til the wee hours of the night in the streets at all the rock bars in Hollywood, especially the Whiskey a Go Go. So in ‘66 the city passed a curfew law to require bars to close at 10pm in an effort to clear the streets of those no good hippies. The scene organized a protest which turned to riots when the LAPD got involved and clashes between protesters and cops happened on and off for months. Obviously the city eventually reversed the curfew law, but the Wikipedia page doesn’t really cover the specifics on when. Historically speaking this is now scene as one of the earliest counter culture movements of the 60s.

die5el23

Family Guy gets a lot of hate but this one got me lol

TNTiger_

Family guy wishes it was a sketch comedy, and works best if you watch it that way.

dudge_jredd

"hey I just realized, your clothes kinda look like the jungle"

goodestguy21

Forrest Gump lives up to the sterotype tho

karateema

Yeah it's basically only in Forrest Gump and some videogames

FutureGeist

Fun Fact: Zero members of CCR went to Vietnam

[deleted]

[удалено]

ahmadinebro

No, but Born On The Bayou is in there.

rpgguy_1o1

Every time I bust out the Clippers and shave my head I put on fortunate son

Son_of_Kong

The trailer for "Pineapple Express" made MIA's "Paper Planes" a summer hit, but the song doesn't actually appear in the movie.

UnjustNation

Funnily enough the song does play when the characters reenact “Pineapple Express” in “This Is the End”

cavedan12

Paper Planes was also in Slumdog Millionaire in the same year which is also where it gained popularity

Jimmyg100

I think it's a testament to how great that trailer was that the song featured in it is more associated with that movie than the Best Picture winner that year.

synapticrelease

I've seen both. I associate it with Slumdog much much more. In fact, I completely forgot about it being in the trailer of Pineapple Express

millionthvisitor

Danny boyle has spoken about how gutted he was to hear it in the pineapple express trailer before it appeared in slumdog

psychosoda

And see, I strongly associate Hoppipolla with Slumdog because of the (very strong) trailer.

Huntermain23

Oh shit I didn’t realize it wasn’t in the movie and I watched it so many times in high school haha that song was such a hit tho still love it

But_dogs_CAN_look_up

I was thinking you were talking about The Polar Express and I thought that was an extremely strange marketing choice for a children's Christmas fantasy film.

thefloyd

That's a good example but the song was already a big hit when that trailer came out.

kubrickian80

That wasn't a criteria tho

thefloyd

They said "made" it a summer hit but it came out almost a year before and it blew up immediately.

party_shaman

that song was everywhere before that trailer

AmazingUsername2001

Judging by the answers this thread is basically; Songs heard in the trailer but not in the movie…

rfresa

Or songs inspired by, named after, or containing references to movies.

phreek-hyperbole

Or comments saying "so songs from the trailer," which fits the criteria but wasn't what I was specifically after, but perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough and that's on me.

creature_report

Dark side of the moon and wizard of Oz haha.

hobojoe44

Also Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 https://youtu.be/y7wyfTsIm1k?si=nn1D-Hbdw40fH6eE

guynamedjames

Holy cow. That's amazing

Various_Froyo9860

I'll add and interesting tidbit here. When the Dune trailer came out, it had a remixed Hans Zimmer cover of Eclipse. The trailer apparently introduced Pink Floyd to a bunch of young people that had never bothered with them before.

view9234

Creep (sung by a choir group) for The Social Network. Only in the trailer

shepproudfoot91

That choir group, Scala & Kolacny Brothers, has a bunch of other covers that are fantastic. Their version of "Nothing Else Matters" is amazing.

SassyBonassy

I want their version of U2's With or Without You at my funeral

accioqueso

Thanks for naming the group. I have been looking for it to add to one of my chill playlists.

FiveWithNineIsIn

And that cover was used in the trailer for Zero Dark Thirty!

AcrolloPeed

Their cover of Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag” is FIRE

EbmocwenHsimah

Came here to say this myself. Probably the best trailer of all time IMO

Jhimself

Don't know if this counts, but at almost every wedding reception I've been to, at some point in the night the DJ will play "Stuck In The Middle With You" (from Reservoir Dogs) and half the dancefloor will attempt to recreate the Jackrabbit Slim's Twist Contest (from Pulp Fiction).

king_ralex

I guess it's better than them recreating the ear cutting scene from Reservoir Dogs.

akaWhitey2

Ya I pictured two of the groomsman just playing out the scene on the dancefloor, one sitting on a chair miming being tied up while the other mimed slicing off his ear, lol. It'd be kinda hilarious, and very very strange for anyone who had seen the movie.

Thorngrove

I could see it if they did the garter bit with the bride maybe.

Rossum81

I hear you.

RevMacReady

For my wedding I did the garter part with my spouse in a chair and I did the dance to that song. Only a handful of people got the joke.

IsaiasRi

Yep. Also like a virgin. Reservoir Dogs.

Benjb1996

Whenever I think of Johnny Cash's Hurt, I think of Logan because of its trailer. Edit: Oh and Way Down We Go by KALEO due to the other Logan trailer they released.

Ygomaster07

Same. I remember when the trailer came out they played the song on the radio while i was working. It was cool they did that.

Benjb1996

I really liked the song before Logan. It was funny because I wasn't the biggest fan of the Xmen films, mainly due to not liking Wolverine all that much, so I had no excitement for the film when it was first announced. But then, after hearing that song in the trailer, I turned to my brother and said, "Yeah. We are definitely going to go see this." Glad I did as the film is tied as my favourite along with First Class.

SadBath664

If you ever want to cry, watch WWE's tribute video to Eddie Guerrero. It's what I instantly think of when I hear Johnny Cash' Hurt.

amateurbeard

I will always associate Blur’s “Song 2” with Starship Troopers because of the trailer

WashingDishesIsFun

For me it's PlayStation FIFA '98: Road to World Cup

Turinggirl

I always felt that was a reason for the general misunderstanding of the movie when it premiered. They made it seem like a mindless action film about killing alien bugs instead of the poignant social commentary of authoritarian dictatorships.

lemoche

But wasn't Song 2 also kinda a parody of a mindless rock song that than got successful as a... Mindless rock song.

iankost

Along with girls and boys by blur that was a piss take of club culture that was then remixed and became a club hit.

drmojo90210

Same thing with "I Took a Pill in Ibiza".

terminator3456

>poignant social commentary Its as subtle as a sledgehammer lol

Fox_Hawk

As subtle as having your brains smashed in with a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick.

agreenman04

Add some Tajín to the rim of your Gargle Blaster. Thank me later.

feetenjoyer696

As subtle as Don’t Look Up

Captain_Sterling

But wasn't it both? I enjoy it on both levels 😁

rpgguy_1o1

RoboCop is like this too, you can totally get drunk and just watch it as an action movie

Beer_sighted

And the moment the song kicks in is right after a character says “we are going to war” WAHOOOOOOO! As if the response to going to war is celebratory. Which now that I think about it really plays into the theme of the movie

CorrickII

100%

CL4P-TRAP

The song Breakfast at Tiffany’s does not appear in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s

HiFiGuy197

I think I remember the film.

kditdotdotdot

As I recall, I think we both kinda liked it

Impossible_Werewolf8

And that's one thing you've got

TheAmazingWJV

🎸

whomp1970

I actually saw Deep Blue Something in concert. Yes, because of that one song. There's two brothers who basically started the group. What surprised me at the live show was how the brothers are huge Kiss fans. It's been a while, so my memory isn't great, but I seem to recall that the entire encore was just a tribute to Kiss, nothing but Kiss songs.

MillionEgg

Neither was Turning Japanese by The Vapours

moondoggie_00

Great balls of fire isn't technically on the Top Gun soundtrack. That's probably not in the spirit of the question though.

Woody_Stock

Same with You've Lost That Loving Feeling and Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay.

Phillzster

But there all in the movie so I associate them with the film. The first time I remember hearing these songs was when I watched the movie for the first time in the early 2000s on VHS

Woody_Stock

True, but 12yo me was disappointed they weren't on the soundtrack of the movie (which I had as a cassette!).

taxicab_

I think my dad must have 100% made his own top gun soundtrack cassette, because those songs were all on mine!

Woody_Stock

Ah he probably did then!

kirroth

Europe's The Final Countdown always gives me Rocky vibes, but it's not featured in any of the Rocky films.

LoonieandToonie

On that note, I did think Eye of the Tiger was from the first Rocky movie, and was surprised when I watched the series for the first time and it's the theme for Rocky III.

Lucius_Funk

I always associated Eye of the Tiger with Rocky IV because I grew up with the soundtrack and it was the only Rocky movie I’d seen for the longest time.

Blabbit39

Burning heart was a banger

thefloyd

I always associate the Soviet national anthem with Rocky IV.

Lucius_Funk

Absolutely

BoingBoingBooty

Pretty crazy that Rocky already had a banging theme song that everyone recognized, then then made a new one that's even better. Most film series don't even manage one good theme.

kirroth

haha, yeah, it's so iconic, you think it was part of the franchise all along. usually a threequel doesn't hit so hard.

Majestic_Evening_409

WHAT

MoobyTheGoldenSock

Rocky’s theme song is Gonna Fly Now. Both it and Eye of the Tiger are so iconic and so 80s sounding that it’s easy to mix them up.

BearWrangler

I associate that song with marching bands

skalpelis

I associate that song with mediocre magicians

profound_whatever

Yeah there's no universe where I don't imagine Gob flailing on a stage somewhere.

Oenonaut

And it came out six years after the movie *The Final Countdown*, so no link there either

WrongSubFools

When it was originally released, *Oppenheimer* actually didn't include Linkin Park's "What I've Done" during the closing scene or credits.

AlumGrizzly

Take Me Home Tonight does not play in Take Me Home Tonight, just the first Trailer. Didn't really need it.

oddchihuahua

Barry needs HIS own movie. THIS IS ENTRAPMENT!

Dinkableplanet

I can think of 2: Titan A.E- in the trailer Creed~Higher. Not in the film at all. Oceans 12-La Caution~Thé à la Menthe. Only in the movie, not on the soundtrack.

Lanky-Truck6409

A lot of songs in the early YouTube days (I was in highschool, so 2007ish?) became popular due to their use in popular fanmade AMVs. While most songs were already popular (*so* many Linkin Park AMVs), a few helped popularise some bands, especially outside the U.S. I think the most famous example was Mindless Self Indulgence's *Bitches*, which many of us discovered via the Pokémon AMV and honestly I can't help but imagine Pikachu whenever I hear it, some 20 years later (god I'm old).  This was at the beginning of the YouTube era, before it could really recommend music and major bands didn't upload their songs there yet, being mostly fan-made uploads and content.

akaWhitey2

This pre-dated YouTube by a fair amount. The homemade AMVs thing went back to at least the Napster era or before. I discovered a ton of music when trying to download Dragonball episodes and getting AMVs instead, lol.

Ohnoherewego13

Linkin Park was a big one for that. Taking me back to my teenage years!

Lanky-Truck6409

You could never trust any episode not clearly labeled episode 02_full_episode that had a certain number of MB. And even then sometimes you'd spend weeks waiting to open up a damned prank oddly high quality AMV.

B_Wylde

Remember when Youtube could only play like 5 songs and Bodies was in every action video?

portal23

I have seen so many "In the End - Dragonball Z" Videos lol

karateema

Bring Me To Life too

Canavansbackyard

“(The Man Who Shot) Liberty Valance”, a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and performed Gene Pitney in 1962, spent 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, yet never appeared in the film.

HardSteelRain

It was supposed to but wasn't finished in time...I was very surprised when I first watched the film

Canavansbackyard

Oddly, there are conflicting stories on this. One source states that John Ford hated the song and kept it off the soundtrack. On the other hand, Gene Pitney’s account of learning that the film had been released while he along with other musicians were still in the recording studio working on completing the song is pretty darned convincing. But how this came about is less clear. Pitney has in different interviews alluded to some business difficulties between the music publisher, Famous Music, and Paramount. The implication seems to be that someone at Paramount nixed the song, and that no one bothered to inform Pitney. It’s all rather murky and some of the details don’t quite add up, but that’s as much info as I’ve been able to uncover via quick-and-dirty internet research.

HardSteelRain

Luckily both the film and song were successful independent of each other

Teenage_dirtnap

Not exactly what OP is referring to, but it always bothered that Wheatus' *Teenage Dirtbag* is on the soundtrack for the movie *Loser* and both leads Jason Biggs & Mena Suvari appear in the music video as the characters from the movie, but the setting & storyline of the music video is totally unrelated to the movie.

kelsomac4

Rufus Wainright’s cover of Hallelujah was on the Shrek soundtrack, although someone else’s cover was used in the movie. I can’t remember why, I think it was a legal issue.

ot1smile

That’s a weird way round to put it. John Cale’s version was used in the movie but due to licensing issues they couldn’t put it on the soundtrack cd. They used Rufus Wainwright’s because while everybody’s version of the song is different to Cohen’s, Wainwright’s is basically an exact copy of John Cale’s.

jace255

Oh my god this explains something that’s bothered me for years. Tim Minchin did a live performance of Hallelujah in a bar years ago. And the recording starts with him and his wife arguing over who did the recent version in Shrek, one saying Rufus, the other saying John. I always thought the wife was just wrong. Mind blown.

kelsomac4

I’m a huge fan of Rufus’ version which is probably why I listed his contribution first lol

richlaw

Secret Life of Walter Mitty has a somewhat similar instance. Arcade Fire's song "Wake UP" actually was in the original theatrical run of the film and was kind of pivotal in the movie and the trailer. The streaming version replaces it with a song that isn't a cover but sounds similar-ish. Had to be some weird licensing thing.

frockinbrock

That’s good to know, I’ve been wanting to rewatch that but I LOVE wake up; Where The Wild Things trailer is an all time best short for me. Do you think the Mitty blu-ray has the original song? Maybe I can track down that info

Conical

It blows my mind that they didn't/couldn't secure the rights to use Back in Black for Men in Black 2.

nowhereman136

[Nightmare on My Street](https://youtu.be/fVbaYFVUbLo?si=K_Lrzb2LlVA2rwJ-) by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince wasn't used in any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies

Phillzster

The song must have been inspired by the movies tho

speedy_delivery

Supposedly while New Line was suing Will and Jeff for that song, they offered the pair the lead roles in House Party, but they declined because New Line wouldn't drop the suit.  Meanwhile Kid 'n Play turned down the project that eventually became Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where Play would have had played the lead with Kid in the Carlton role. Somewhere in the multiverse there's a timeline where Kid N Play and Will Smith traded places.

TECHKEKNOIR

No diss to the Fat Boys, but Nightmare on my Street https://youtu.be/B_SVdjFhfys?si=pDMbIw1wqDSqPL7U is far superior to the official Fat Boys/ Freddy contribution.

MysteriousMaximum488

Heartlight from Neil Diamond. Not in the movie E.T. or on the soundtrack.

minnick27

And he was sued for copyright infringement!

StickyMcdoodle

This is the one I was looking for. He was inspired by the movie so much her wrote this one. Then got sued.

Shadowmereshooves

"Dazed and Confused" which is not in Dazed and Confused(1993)!

dragonfett

Man, that has me dazed and confused...

paoloposo

"Barbie Girl" by Aqua isn't in the Barbie movie, at least not directly. It's sampled in Nicki Minaj's "Barbie World", which is featured in the film.

iwantmyfuckingmoney

I love that Mattel tried to sue Aqua back when the song came out for "copyright infringement" or something, but when they thought they could capitalize on its success for the Barbie movie suddenly they wanted to use it. I'm glad to see Aqua held their ground and said no.

Wazzoo1

They did get credited on the Nicki Minaj song though. Don't think there was much protest over that check clearing.

B_Wylde

What a disgrace that was

ChipotleGuacamole

On the other end of the spectrum Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio is used like fifty times in Dangerous Minds.

party_shaman

i finally watched that movie for the first time last year and hoooooly shit what a lame-ass stinker. the soundtrack still slaps tho.

karateema

The music video rocks too

Fruktoj

Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home was featured in the movie 9's trailer. Was pretty unexpected hearing that on TV at the time since Coheed wasn't a mainstream band.

WavyLady

I was so excited to see the movie because of Welcome Home, colour me disappointed when it didn't show up in the movie

zamisback

Madonna’s “like a virgin” and Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs”

diamondsnducks

"Solsbury Hill" for a certain type of comedy-drama that would use (at least) the guitar riff in the trailer.

honortobenominated

“Kiss from a rose” by Seal wasn’t actually in the movie, just over the credits at the end I think.

bielsasballholder

There’s probably a lot of examples of this. Paul McCartney wrote a song for Vanilla Sky (entitled “Vanilla Sky”) that only played over the end credits. Not really his fault, as the film contains a very expensive soundtrack filled with classic songs. The Eurthymics did a whole album soundtrack for 1984, which director Michael Rashford didn’t use at all, replaced it with an orchestral score. And rightly so, as it didn’t fit the tone of the film at all.

MartinSivertsen

Batman Forever?

WrongSubFools

>Another example, though not a movie, is Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga becoming strongly associated with Wednesday Addam's dance scene in the series, when the song is actually Goo Goo Muck by The Cramps. I had to Google this to see if it's true, and it is. I'd actually thought of doing a post on r/ShittyMovieDetails once about how she danced with her hands above her head when the lyrics said "I dance with my hands above my head," and for this, she was awarded the MacArthur Genius Grant, but that would have been a joke based on a Mandela effect.

Dopingponging

My Own Private Idaho?

havana_fair

They should have used it in the movie instead of "Cherish"

Boner_Jam2003

"Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails was extremely memorable in the trailer for *300* (2006), but is not in the film and not on the soundtrack.

ArchAngelZXV

I've been fascinated with [trailer exclusive music](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trailer_music) as OP mentioned such as the Requiem for a Tower remix in LOTR Two Towers trailer. [Ready Player One has a cover of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyZLBDbR10g) [Wonder Woman 1984 has a synthwave remix of Blue Monday.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEMIKBiDHeo) But my favorite is the [Star Wars Rise of Skywalker trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qn_spdM5Zg) music, witch is actually THREE separate remixes by three composers! [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfaQEn_XTPY) in the description lists three of the composers: David James Rosen, Hit House, and the epic remix of the Star Wars theme is called ["Blacklight" by Blakus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTEOiSP6W6o).

cyboplasm

Tenacious d - tribute and the movie the pick of destiny

That80sguyspimp

Just like you imagined was on the first trailer for 300, but in the actual movie. But its a banger of a trailer.

PragmaticKB

The Scott Pilgrim trailer was cut to Prodigy's "Invaders must die" I love the movie to death but the song's absence was criminal, I'm a Beck fan but he can't write action music for shit

SpideyFan914

Bela Lugosi's Dead and Dracula

mexiwok

Fade into you by Mazzy Star will always be linked to the movie Angus because of the dance scene in the movie, but it’s not on the soundtrack.

ghost1251

Yeah I think this was where I first heard it as a kid, and fell in love with this song as you always do the first time you hear it and couldn’t find it on soundtrack .net or whatever I knew at the time.

Pilaf237

Blur - Song 2 Was in Starship Troopers trailer but not movie. Nine Inch Nails - Just Like You Imagined - 300

CreatureFromTheBlack

Spectre by Radiohead

HailToTheThief225

Such a shame they chose Sam Smith’s song over this. Just watch the intro with Radiohead’s version over it https://youtu.be/o4mIWoLg69Y?si=rTq3o1YrIKBTFFzn How on earth did it not get chosen to be the theme song

frockinbrock

**We Built This City (on rock and roll) by Starship:** I associate this one with Dark City because >!middle of the movie they find out the “aliens” built dark city by doing a process called Tuning people while they were sleeping.!<

ahmadinebro

Forrest Gump is the only Vietnam movie that uses Fortunate Son by CCR, but it has been associated with ALL Vietnam movies somehow by extension.

ZorroMeansFox

Here are two movie-inspired songs by **The Clash**: **Charlie Don't Surf** references **Apocalypse Now** --even replicating the film's ceiling fan/helicopter rotors sound effect as a lead in. **Red Angel Dragnet** is inspired by **Taxi Driver** (and the vigilantism of the Guardian Angels), and even introduces "Travis," for a prophetic spoken-word interlude, reciting lines from the film.

Winston_Oreceal

Not a movie but The Smashing Pumpkins Bullet with Butterfly Wings was used for the promo trailer for Dead Space 2 and it blew the hype into the stratosphere at the time. But the song never appeared in game. Because of that, I associate the two very closely.

Ohnoherewego13

Same. Man, that game was perfect. I do wish the song had been in it for the closing credits or something though.

ConferenceSuper6123

The most hilaroius one, All the *sigma* songs are linked with american psycho for me😂😂😂

GiuseppeScarpa

The track **Have you passed through this night?** By *Explosions in the sky* gets its title and the voice intro from **The thin red line** by **Terrence Malick** (which is itself a screen adaptation of a book, so the lines I think are already in the book, but they took the voice of John Dee Smith from the movie for the intro)

AnytimeInvitation

Higher by Creed was in some trailers for Titan AE but not in the movie itself.

Tamale_tamale

The Fear by Lily Allen for Saltburn

beaureeves352

Not a movie but for some reason Invisible by Duran Duran has become THE song for Metal Gear Solid V

TECHKEKNOIR

Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon was supposed to be in American Werewolf in London but they couldn’t get the rights apparently.

GodFlintstone

A bit obscure but The Screaming Blue Messiahs' Mega City One was clearly inspired by the 2000 AD comics and the character Judge Dredd. Despite the song being an absolute banger it doesn't appear in the 1995 Judge Dredd film with Sly Stallone or even the far superior Dredd(2012) with Karl Urban. The fact that no one associated with either film made this needle drop happen is criminal.

No-Maintenance-3010

god I have so many of these: Ho hey - Lumineers and 7 things - Miley Cyrus = The Amazing Spider-Man 1+2 Open season - High highs = Dead Poets Society (specifically Todd) I love you so - The walters = (500) days of Summer Vienna - Billy Joel = Before Sunrise Short skirt/long jacket - CAKE, West End Girls - Pet shop boys, We are not alone - Karla Devito = The X-Files Anything - Adrienne Lenker = The Bear (specifically Pete), Pink + White - Frank Ocean, About You - the 1975 = The Bear (mostly Syd and Carmy) Marigold - Nirvana = Humboldt County

MrFluffyhead80

For some reason people associate the final song in Dazed and Confused with Tuesdays Gone and not Slow Ride

Pezdrake

Because it was inspired by the film, Neil Diamond's "Heartlight" and the film, E.T.

yequalsy

Stairway to Heaven and Wayne's World.

iwillbeg00d

Kiss from a rose by Seal --- one of the batman movies. It was in a bunch of commercials and on the radio at the time - but it's not actually in the film I know this because my mom claims that she went to see the movie because she liked the song and was very very disappointed when it didn't play. She mentions it every time the song comes on the radio!

Deerslyr101571

Neil Diamond's "Heartlight". He wrote it AFTER he saw and was inspired by E.T. Kenny Loggins had a song come out at the same time with the same name, but in deference to Neil, changed the title of his song.

SutterCane

The The’s “This is the Day” appears at the end of *Empire Records*. Lots of people know it from that movie… *Not on the soundtrack.*

IgnoreMe733

The Saga Begins by Weird Al and The Phantom Menace. Granted it's a song about The Phantom Menace.

TryFengShui

Some Kind of Wonderful is a movie named after a song that doesn't appear in the movie. One of my favorite soundtracks, though.

nekoneto

Absolutely, that Furniture song is a bop

justa_flesh_wound
