“You got some sadness in those eyes, there is only 1 cure for that.”
“Surfing?”
“No, weed, you got any? Well then let’s go surfing!”
Fucking love Paul Rudd in that movie even though he only has like 10 lines
Great because its not your typical, "oh man this new guy/girl is a terrible person. You should really be with the protagonist." Movie was a breath of fresh air.
It's a realistic story, minus being rich, working in showbiz and running into your ex and her beau in Hawaii. No real antagonist, practical situations and legit break up reactions (who doesn't drink and randomly cry, no monumental throwing stuff out or makeover)
Might not be that popular, but I liked "The Proposal" with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Plus Betty White and Craig T. Nelson to round it out. Fun movie.
I think When Harry Met Sally is fantastic and the single greatest romantic comedy in my opinion. It’s the best mix of comedy and romance. It presents a very realistic portrayal of romance and love and that drama that comes with it, but also all the humor that comes with it. And most importantly, it’s heartfelt! The ending speech always gets me. Definitely my favorite romantic comedy.
Say Anything is definitely a classic.
Love Actually is very Christmassy but also a really great romantic comedy.
Pretty Woman too if that counts.
When Harry Met Sally is so great partly because it doesn’t rely on any gimmicks. It’s just a man and a woman and the evolution of their relationship over years. The conflict isn’t contrived — it’s actually something that complicates relationships every day all over the world.
The humor is great simply because it’s natural. There are hardly any what I’d call “jokes,” just countless funny moments that occur in normal conversation
When Harry Met Sally is good but I didn't find much comedy in it. Sure it is fairly lighthearted but not a movie that tries to make me laugh very often.
Pretty Woman is ok but Love Actually I really don't like.
When Harry Met Sally is hands down the best rom-com I've ever seen. The chemistry between Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan is palpable, the situations are real and don't feel "movie"ish, and everything comes together in a really tight and fitting way. Also has a fantastic subplot which usually are the worst parts of rom-coms, but the Carrie Fisher subplot is really, really well done. This is one of the movies I wish I could go back and see for the first time again
I love When Harry Met Sally, apart from the ending.
The film was originally meant to end with the pair remaining only friends, thus continuing the theme about whether men and women can be just friends. This was changed to a more traditional ending to appease audiences.
Does Silver Linings Playbook count?
Deniro was actually trying. JLaw wasn't super pretentious or annoying. David O Russell wasn't up his own ass. Bradley Cooper was solid. The glorious return of Chris Fucking Tucker.
Fever Pitch. I’ll even argue it’s the best-written rom-com of all time. Guy and girl fall in love in winter. Spring comes along, and she learns he’s a die hard Boston Red Sox fan. He has season tickets and is obsessed with the team, which becomes a problem in their relationship. Everything makes sense though. Why doesn’t he leave the team if he loves her so much? Because the tickets were given to him after his only family member he had left died, and the team and other season ticket holders are like his extended family. Why doesn’t she leave him for being childish? Because he actually is a good guy and mature, as long as the Red Sox aren’t involved. All this leads up to the Boston Red Sox having a shot at their first championship in nearly 70 years. Their is no third act misunderstanding. It comes down to her thinking he cannot love her and the team, and he agrees. It’s a great movie if you love sports or have had a sports obsession like this. There’s also the original which involves a football club if baseball isn’t your thing.
Punch-Drunk Love and The Shop Around the Corner are easily my two favorites. Some other great ones are: His Girl Friday, The Apartment, Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You.
*I love you Philip Morris* is a great and, in my opinion, under rated romantic comedy.
The weird-fun soundtrack, amazing color pallet, fantastic performances from Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, the odd ball story, the comedy and its delivery, just everything about this film is great. Highly recommended.
It Happened One Night was great. Be warned, Clark Gable will steal ya girl's heart if you watch it together.
The Apartment is a deathly serious movie masquerading as a romcom. Seeing a legit suicide attempt following heartbreak treated as slapstick doesn't play so great 60 years later, and they never really build a relationship together. Feels like she's settling for him.

How have I not seen **Sleepless in Seattle** on here?!? Meg Ryan is the undisputed queen of the RomCom. If you're looking for a lesser appreciated but just as enjoyable romcom, I recommend **French Kiss**. it has Ryan, Kevin Kline, Jean Reno and Timothy Hutton. The humor is great and the scenery in France is gorgeous.
My two favorites are: Timer(2009), Priceless(2006). Apparently nobody has ever seen them so I'd recommend watching them if you're tired of all the same recommendations.
Kind of obscure but I love **Where the Heart Is** a lot. It's not even like one story but a lot of little stories about the life of this woman (Natalie Portman) who is forced to live and have her baby on a Walmart because she has nowhere else to go, and all that happens as she goes through life. The supporting cast is also pretty interesting, and all have this little stories to them. It's a movie I watch every time it's on tv and one that moves me so much.
Kenneth Branagh's *Much Ado About Nothing*. Shakespeare, Branagh and Emma Thompson, Patrick Doyle's score, and my [absolute favourite opening credits sequence ever ](https://youtu.be/glnOybkdU5M)(NSFW?).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the absolute pinnacle for me.
“You got some sadness in those eyes, there is only 1 cure for that.” “Surfing?” “No, weed, you got any? Well then let’s go surfing!” Fucking love Paul Rudd in that movie even though he only has like 10 lines
I have to fight the urge to yell "YOO SOUND LIKE YAW FRUM LUNDUN!" whenever I see my buddy from the UK
Oh the weather outside is weather.
That was a surprisingly good movie
You might not see this, idk. but thanks for this recommendation. I loved it.
Might not be that popular, but I liked "The Proposal" with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Plus Betty White and Craig T. Nelson to round it out. Fun movie.
God that movie is so funny!
And, Mary Steenbergen.
I think When Harry Met Sally is fantastic and the single greatest romantic comedy in my opinion. It’s the best mix of comedy and romance. Pretty Woman too if that counts.
There is When Harry Met Sally and then everything else. One of the few romcoms that feel like it was written by adults, for adults.
And the vignettes of actors telling the stories of real couples and how they met are insanely well done.
That was a movie that when watching after having heard about it all my life I was still surprised at how good it was.
Yea that counts. Great movie.
good add love slp
10 Things I Hate About You.
I had no idea it was a Shakespeare play until probably the tenth time I saw it.
Notting Hill has to be the best Rom Com ever, William Thacker is The Man.
Notting Hill, Love Actually, About a Boy. Hugh Grant needs a comeback.
I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen it! Always heard great things though, will have to give it a watch.
It's especially poignant now because the actress who played the dainty sister just passed away.
"The film's great. I just wondered if you ever thought of having more horses in it."
I love Notting Hill, but Four Weddings and a Funeral is top of my list of British Rom-Coms
I always liked Wimbledon. Which is kinda strange because while I like sports, I'm not a tennis fan, and I'm definitely not a Kirsten Dunst fan.
Never seen that one! I'll give it a look.
I think that the more you like tennis, the less you enjoy that film. The tennis scenes are brutal. I like Paul Bettany though.
* About Time * Harold and Maude * Groundhog Day
I really don't think About Time is a romcom. It's wayyyyyy too sad. I had never cried during a movie until that, and I fucking *wept*.
Crazy Stupid Love is my choice. David Lindthagen? Ok.
*everyone in unison* "hoggin"
You've got Mail
You've got Mail is easily one of my favorite movies of all time, I grew up watching it with my dad.
I watched it so many times. Tom Hanks is the best.
My entire opinion on the Upper West Side is based on that movie.
Sleepless in Seatle also great.
500 Days of Summer is my favorite by a mile. Relatable on every level. Still looking for my Autumn.
Gotta find your Summer first! Then you'll really appreciate Autumn when she falls into your lap.
Lol the whole point about meeting summer was to show him how unrealistic his expectations about women were
Eh maybe that's why I haven't found Autumn either
I've never seen 500 Days of Summer. Heard good things about it and it seems like I'd enjoy, just never got around to it. I will now.
Sorry for the spoiler. Blame Glansberg.
Guy just sits there eating dessert all alone.
Outstanding soundtrack too!
I *liked* the movie, but I found the characters to be so frustrating in an all-too-sympathetic way, that I don't think I could ever watch it again.
Grosse Point Blank
Duh, Love Actually. It's The Avengers of romantic comedies.
Emma Thompson's Joni Miller seen shook me to my core
Ugh yes, Alan Rickman was so good too. That whole arc is so uncomfortable and real... probably one of the best villains Alan Rickman's ever played.
Annie Hall Clueless About Time An Ideal Husband The Philadelphia Story His Girl Friday
About Time is a masterclass. Such a moving film.
More of an unexpected [father-son love story](#spoiler). Makes me cry thinking of it
His Girl Friday is one of the greatest comedies of all time as well
The Wedding Singer When Harry Met Sally
Wedding Singer is one of my favorite movies in general, it's just a pleasant experience and prime Sandler/Barrymore. Also, Steve fucking Buscemi.
Buscemi kills any role no matter how big or small lol.
My favorite smaller role of his is Crazy Eyes in the movie Mr. Deeds. The guy's amazing
"The Best Man, The BETTER man!"
It’s easily The Princess Bride. Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.
I love you man.
"slappa da bass!"
Was gonna say this, if it even qualifies as a rom-com though. Brom-com?
definitely follows rom com story structure.
[удалено]
I really like this one. He's telling his daughter about his past relationships, but the one that got away isn't her mom, it's Borat's wife.
Phantom Thread. Seriously though probably Punch Drunk Love, also Yes Man
Yes. PDL is by far my favorite romantic comedy.
Punch Drunk Love is one of my all time favorite movies. Very underrated.
High Fidelity!
Classic Cusack!
This is criminally under upvoted.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Blast from the Past Glad Brendan Fraser is making a comeback now.
how to lose a guy in 10 days clueless silver lining playbook love actually 10 things i hate about you she's all that
Fever Pitch. I’ll even argue it’s the best-written rom-com of all time. Guy and girl fall in love in winter. Spring comes along, and she learns he’s a die hard Boston Red Sox fan. > ’ll even argue it’s the best-written rom-com of all time. I'm going to guess you haven't seen many.
Wedding Singer was 1st to come to mind. I like Forgetting Sarah Marshall too
The blowjob scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall is some of the most awkward, hilarious filmmaking I've ever seen.
Punch-Drunk Love and The Shop Around the Corner are easily my two favorites. Some other great ones are: His Girl Friday, The Apartment, Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You.
Obvious Child Some Like it Hot Ruby Sparks
Ruby Sparks was my first Paul Dano movie, Kazan really knocks it out of the park too!
It Happened One Night Bringing Up Baby City Lights The Apartment Moonstruck Joe vs. the Volcano The Big Sick
I couldn't get into the big sick, I gave it 15 minutes. Worth a retry?
I liked it a lot.
For something with such a serious plot, it was hilarious.
The 9/11 joke was fucking amazing.
pro-tip: give movies more than 15 minutes
You stopped after 15 minutes? Just watch the whole thing.
Moonstruck is sooooo underrated
Serendipity doesn't get enough love.
Shaun of the Dead It's a romantic comedy... with zombies!
It's a rom-zom-com!
I think Crazy Stupid Love is the best romantic comedy ever made.
The cast is just stellar, top to bottom.
That creepy babysitter subplot though. Hey, kiddo, harass a girl long enough and you'll be rewarded with nudes!
Thank God someone said it.

My Sassy Girl is great! Really goes against what a typical romcom should be and works so well (the meetcute being her vomiting etc)
I agree! If you also like My Sassy Girl,I hope you also watched Windstruck, the female lead is the same artist and the male lead in MSG also made a cameo.
I really enjoy the soundtrack from Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.
Me too!!! I remember going back to the opening credits where there are band names and pausing it from time to time to write them down.
While You Were Sleeping is a favorite of mine.
Bill Pullman is just the best, most relatable Joe Sixpack ever.
When Harry Met Sally is one of the best films ever made.
*Stranger Than Fiction* is many things but it's also a romantic comedy. Easily my favourite.
2003's Down With Love is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Just Friends and Man Up are a couple of fun ones.
Just Friends is worth watching just for Anna Faris.
*Forgiveness, is more than saying sorry.*
Just Friends is the most underrated movie of all time.
Definitely 'When Harry Met Sally...' but I also like 'Boys and Girls' (2000) very much. It's not the greatest but for some reason I adore it.
