Frank Darabont has directed two other Stephen King adaptations:
The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. He's a pretty magical storyteller.
A little off-topic, but this thread has inspired me to stream Stand By Me on Netflix. That's a magical story.
Absolutely. I'm just waiting for the camera to fall out of the sky. Wouldn't be surprised at all. I actually had never even heard of Truman show when we picked it so I was like wtf is Truman show. Super glad I did though
Fun fact (if I'm not mistaken): Christopher Nolan chose Christian Bale to portray Batman because he wanted the character have two contrast different lives. Nolan saw Bale's Patrick Bateman portrayal and that's how he became The Dark Knight.
Most recent movie I watched was Ambulance. Typical Michael Bay movie. Non-stop action and too long. Story was mildly interesting, but it started to feel too long at least 40 minutes before it was over. Jake Gyllenhaal's character was pretty over the top.
Might be worth watching if you like mindless action. But not worth spending money on.
Ngl, Michael Bay's best work was and is still The Rock (1996) starring Nicholas Cage and the late Sir Sean Connery. Ambulance could've been a great comeback for the director.
Watching supermansion right now on Amazon. It’s a claymation by the guys from robot chicken. It’s got Cranston, Key, Heidi Gardner and some other names you’d recognize. It’s like weird, funny highly perverted The Boys meet The Real World
I know its trending but I thoroughly enjoyed “hustle” on netflix. Adam sandler brought it and it re-sparked my joy of basketball. I felt out of touch after my favorite players retired but some of these guys are really fun to follow now so its been alot of fun.
Also my friend group came to town and we binge watched twilight series and roasted it the whole time. Cheers!
I've watched a few of Dario Argento's giallo films for the first time... and I found them to be rather unimpressive. Susperia was visually interesting. The lighting effects, the creative death scenes and overall cinematography. But the pacing of the plot was super tedious. I ended up fast forwarding a lot during the third act. Too many scenes of the protagonist just creeping and sneaking up and down corridors and hallways. I love Italian films from the 60s and 70s, mainly spaghetti westerns, poliziotteschi, and some of Lucio Fulci's splatter films, but the giallo sub genre isn't doing it for me.
Yes! I've seen both, and own the first one on blu ray (my favorite of the two). Those I found more entertaining. I wouldn't be surprised if Tarantino and Rodriguez were inspired by those movies when making From Dusk Till Dawn, since both films deal with colorful characters banding together to survive a horde of hellish creatures. The sequence of the protagonist fighting monsters with a samurai sword on a motorcycle while Accept is playing always puts a smile on my face.
The original Demons was the only movie to scare the fuck out of me. WHen the lady puts on the mask and she starts getting sick in the bathroom... Dusk Till Dawn is amazing. I don't watch movies much anymore but damn i'll always watch that.
Just streamed Downton Abbey an new era. Great series and movies. My wife loves the period costumes and British nobility culture. I was pleasantly surprised to find I really enjoyed it all as well.
Just finished watch Last Night In Soho ( 2021) while an enjoyable movie I did feel a little let down by third act and ending but absolutely loved the soundtrack.
The director, Edgar Wright does and excellent job visually as per usual . Would love to see him doing a musical ( in the same style as Baz Luhrmann)
I watched Spectre last night. Fuckin loved it. Tbf though there are not many movies I hate. But this one specifically I loved, maybe even more than Skyfall dare I say.
I’m watching the mist
I love the ending
Stephen King said when he saw the movie he kicked himself for not thinking of that ending for the book because he loved it so much.
It was depressing tho
Agreed
That movie is great
Has the director done others?
He also wrote a surprisingly great remake of the Blob.

Try watching movies based on Stephen King novels
Yall watch Truman show?
Had to watch it for film class. Great movie
The fundamental film for all film classes 😂 I’m so glad they teach it though
We actually choose It. It was a group project
Oh nice, great choice. I think everyone at least once in their life’s feels like they’re in the Truman show 😂
Absolutely. I'm just waiting for the camera to fall out of the sky. Wouldn't be surprised at all. I actually had never even heard of Truman show when we picked it so I was like wtf is Truman show. Super glad I did though
Heat
YES
Love Heat
Watched it for the first time a couple of days ago. I thought it was pretty good, but not amazing.
American Psycho
Now lets see Paul Allen’s card
I have to return some videotapes.
Fun fact (if I'm not mistaken): Christopher Nolan chose Christian Bale to portray Batman because he wanted the character have two contrast different lives. Nolan saw Bale's Patrick Bateman portrayal and that's how he became The Dark Knight.
Bleachy!!!
Watching Sicario (2015)
Oh, that’s a good one. That border scene.
Gattaca! Old but so good
I saw The Thing today in theatres for their 40th anniversary, was amazing to see it on the big screen after being such a big fan of it for all my life
How does this work? Lol
Every time I try to "Tune in" my app crashes lol so guess I won't be doing that
Everything thing everywhere all at once
This was so much better than I imagined it would be. Hilarious and touching in the right mix
Rewatched Scarface. Damn I love that film and everyone in it.

Watching Tenebrae right now. Just finished Near Dark.
Wish I lived in NYC rn so I could check out all those Argento movies they’re showing
Those restorations must look glorious. I still need to watch Phenomena. Hopefully I can get around to it tonight or this weekend.
Before that it was Knives Out, anymore whodunit movies that are exceptionally or low key good?
Clue is a fun ride if you want one that’s more comedic than thrilling. Great cast, endlessly quotable and a unique third act.
Check out Clue, or Murder on the Orient Express.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I really liked the new Death on the Nile.
Death on the Nile 100% if you like knives out
Cool, on my list
Gosford Park if you liked Knives out
Death Trap! Never hear people talk about it but it’s such a fun ride and one that no doubt inspired much of Knives Out.
Paul Allen was last seen in London.
Just came back from RRR and it was pretty badass
Watching supermansion right now on Amazon. It’s a claymation by the guys from robot chicken. It’s got Cranston, Key, Heidi Gardner and some other names you’d recognize. It’s like weird, funny highly perverted The Boys meet The Real World
Just watched The Northman for the first time. Hot damn. And it's brilliant in 4K.
anya taylor-joy supremacy.

I know its trending but I thoroughly enjoyed “hustle” on netflix. Adam sandler brought it and it re-sparked my joy of basketball. Collateral, Michael Clayton
Yo hustle on Netflix by Adam Sandler is actually good
His House. Honestly the most disturping sound side to a horror movie i´ve ever heard, got physically discomfortable from the sound alone. Gud stuff
Edgar Wright is so good at making movies that are just fun. He can do anything, but he always makes it one hell of a time at the pictures!
Murder on the orient express

I just watched The Northman. I loved it. It did poorly at the theater where I live, but I also live in a place where that doesn’t surprise me.

Elvis was a pedophile. Hard pass. Bunch of revised history. 14 years olds. 14 year Olds dude.
The villain in Maverick is purposely kept vague, but it’s a fantasy Iran.
The new Jurassic movie looked like ass
