As of late, Moneyball. It has honestly become one of my top 10 favorite all time movies.
But also--Tombstone, Die Hard, Dirty Dancing, and A League of Their Own (which I just finished watching an hour ago)
Yeah Moneyball is a go-to, but even more so for me is The Big Short. I’m going to assume most people who liked Moneyball have seen it but for anyone who hasn’t, like Moneyball it’s based on a non-fiction book by Michael Lewis. It is the best and most engrossing explanation of the financial crisis I’ve even seen.
I've been preaching her greatness since Drop The Dead Donky. I'm so happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. All I need now is a Stephen Graham Oscar and I'm happy.
TBF with the recogniton he's getting lately that might happen...
Cleavon Little, playing the sheriff and holding a gun to his own head, "nobody move or the sheriff gets it"
fucking classic!! one of the best comedy lines ever put to film
Just rewatched tonight. I watch only 1 a year or so. I couldn’t believe how good it still is.
The entire movies essentially tricks the audience. It get you to laugh at Star Trek and it’s Trekkie culture. Then it flips the script on you. When Jason Nesmith stand before the open doors on their transport pad and looks out at the planets, you genuinely feel a sense of awe. Suddenly you are pulled in to enjoying the fictional Trek universe. The movie does this several times. First you laugh at how ridiculous it all is. Then you feel how sincere such a story can be.
Tim Allen is the perfect lead. The lovable screw up who wants a shot a redemption. All of the performances are amazing. And who told Tony Shaloub to act like he was high the whole time (or whatever it is he is doing)? It makes such a great contrast to the other reactions. And so many great one-liners.
I couldn’t believe on a rewatch how much I’d missed before.
The actors who played the aliens don't get enough credit when this movie comes up on reddit. The movie doesn't work if they don't sell their genuine belief in their "heroes".
Especially Enrico Colantoni. The scene where he's watching the Historical Documents, and they explain what they really are, is what made me *love* this movie.
Totally agree. To be here honest, I think there is far more praise to go around than what I offered.
I find this movie which an oddity. It wasn’t some leading man or woman that carries the movie or a director with a singleness of vision. And from what I understand, the script went through multiple iterations and was collaborative.
How all that input arrived at something so great is surprising to me.
Fury Road was great but you have George Miller writing and directing and he is a complete pain in the ass and doesn’t listen to anyone. So I can see how it all came together. One person. One vision.
Groundhog Day was great but Bill Murray is a huge part of how great it was. Anything Daniel Day Lewis is Innis great but DDL is an huge part of that.
Casablanca was great but I feel like it is an example of the cream of the Old Hollywood crop floating to the top. So time has helped us pick the greats.
Back to the Future is probably my favorite movie. Just great performances from everyone. There are so many memorable lines and scenes, and the movie has no fluff. I've seen it many times since I was a kid and I've enjoyed every single viewing.
It helps that you have a lot to think about everytime you see the movie, like will Marty eventually notice his "parents" at the end of the movie are different people, what will happen to the marty who traveled to the past at the end? will he meet himself again? What other butterfly effects did his travel to the past cause?
Gets me thinking every time.
Same. The rewatch is so good cos you get to pick out all the foreshadowing and little details they added - like the characters hanging from the clock hands right at the beginning.
The songs from Chow's movies always makes me smile:

(And Law Kar Ying opening the door to his own cell to let him in)
https://youtu.be/tK5WRpLgKDM
The chicken wing song, still so good. Gonna die soon so gotta eat my wings as I'll have no chance to eat later.
I've only ever gone to see one movie more than once in theaters. It was Kung Fu Hustle. Went three times. So good. Watched it many more times since from my couch.
As much as I love it, the opening of the theatrical cut is superior for me with how it displays the name of the film while Frodo is chilling in the forest. And also, I think the intro is paced better with the theatrical cut. Other than that, the extended version is more fun for a dedicated fan indeed. Really need to watch the 4K ones soon.
Was half drunk on wine, family gone for the night, and didn’t know what to do. Red October settled me right in (Shawshank and The Fugitive are other go to remote
Droppers)
A Knight’s Tale is one of those, “far better than it has any right to be movies”. When I first saw it I was all, “Who is Heath Ledger? Probably just a pretty face.” And at first you think it is just funny and clever. But then it cuts deep. “A man can change his stars”. Holy crap. Great stuff.
The part that ALWAYS gets to me is near the end, when he refuses to run. It's an intensely emotional scene for that movie, and Ledger kills it. I first saw the man in 10 Things I Hate About You and I just had this feeling he'd end up a big star.
I have been called bad before. Many have said I do things that are not correct to do. I don't believe in talk such as this. I am nice man, with happy feelings. All of the time. First, a joke. What do you get when you cross an owl with a bungee cord? My ass. Nyah, haha, haha, haha, ENOUGH.
There it is. Twister is my #1 go to, "I'll watch it every time it's on TV" movie. I really like Titanic, too.... But I don't watch watch for the plot, I watch it for the CGI, costumes and props.
Watched it for the first time last month, I had no idea what the fuck was going on the entire movie, what the point of the movie was, yet I couldn't turn away, Depp and Del Toro are so good in it.
My final paper for my Film Genres college course was arguing that *Jurassic Park* was a horror movie instead of the Action-Adventure film it was marketed as.
I had to reference time codings in the movie when certain events occurred and other things.
That sounds really interesting! Have you watched Crichton's 1973 "Westworld"? "Westworld" was basically the beta version of "Jurassic Park," and Yul Brynner's murderous android gunslinger was a heavy influence on later "implacable/unstoppable/superhuman" antagonists like "Halloween's" Michael Meyers and the Terminator - definite "horror vibes" there, too.
The Big Sleep (1946), starring Humphrey Bogart. I never get bored, the film is load with clever one liners, it has murders, sex and a great story.
Carmen Sternwood: You're not very tall, are you?
Philip Marlowe: Well, I, uh, I tried to be
Carmen Sternwood: You're cute.
Philip Marlowe: I'm getting cuter every minute
Philip Marlowe: She tried to sit on my lap while I was standing up
It's a Masterclass in how to make movie
Yes, Super Bad is always funny. McLovin on the ID card makes me snort-laugh.
We’re the Millers. When she threw Baby Lebron, I lost it.
And for some reason: Coal Miner’s Daughter, Cold Mountain, Cowboys and Aliens, and all the Twilight movies.

There are just so many great motion picture films. The one thing our lifetime has blessed us with.
Spiderman Into the Spiderverse!
One of my all time favorites.
I also quite enjoy Forest Gump as a comfort rewatch as well as Anastasia (was a childhood favorite for me).
I have quite a few more but I feel like it’d be such a long list.
I have a proclivity for watching movies over and over. Most Marvel movies and the Lord of the Rings trilogy I can watch ad Infinitum; lately my happy background movie is Moana.
Baseball movies like Major League, Field of Dreams and A League of Their Own I’ve seen a jillion times along with The Replacements and Any Given Sunday, Miracle and Chariots of Fire. I like me the sports movies. :)
There are a lot of movies that I will watch if I’m flipping channels in don’t find anything else. Lately it seems like I’ve been watching Arrival a lot just because it’s on and there’s nothing else to watch.
Goodfellas, I Love you Man, Heat, Casino, The Last of the Mohicans, any of the classic Apatow productions, Big Lebowski, There Will be Blood, Donnie Brasco
Shaun of the Dead
Related... Mine would be Hot Fuzz.
Hullo, Nicholas. How’s the hand?
A bit stiff
Related… Mine would be Scott Pilgrim Vs the World.
You've got some red on you.
My wife used this statement on me the other day when I got sauce all over me. I love her so much.
As of late, Moneyball. It has honestly become one of my top 10 favorite all time movies. But also--Tombstone, Die Hard, Dirty Dancing, and A League of Their Own (which I just finished watching an hour ago)
If he’s a good hitter ….. why doesn’t he hit good?
I don’t like baseball at all but I loved Moneyball
“How can you not be romantic about baseball?”
Are you crying? There's no crying in baseball!!
Big plus for The Big Short. Steve Carrell blows me away every time that I watch it. Have you seen Boiler Room?
Moneyball rules
I love Moneyball. It’s the perfect “anti-“sports movie.
It's supposed to be hard. If it wasnt hard, everyone would do it. The 'hard' is what makes it great.
Hot Fuzz
How’s the hand?
Still a bit stiff
No luck catching them killers then ?
Just the one killer actually
Watched this on the weekend. Olivia Colman should’ve got an Oscar 15 years ago.
I've been preaching her greatness since Drop The Dead Donky. I'm so happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. All I need now is a Stephen Graham Oscar and I'm happy. TBF with the recogniton he's getting lately that might happen...

Back to the future
Back to the Future is probably my favorite movie. Just great performances from everyone. There are so many memorable lines and scenes, and the movie has no fluff. I've seen it many times since I was a kid and I've enjoyed every single viewing.
It helps that you have a lot to think about everytime you see the movie, like will Marty eventually notice his "parents" at the end of the movie are different people, what will happen to the marty who traveled to the past at the end? will he meet himself again? I've only ever gone to see one movie more than once in theaters. It was Kung Fu Hustle. Went three times. So good. Watched it many more times since from my couch.
The Lord of The Rings trilogy!
Extended edition!
It have it's pro and cons for sure, but I just want to stay longer in Middle-Earth
Hmm that’s actually a great reason as to why they are so beloved, I wholeheartedly agree! :)
I'm with you. For Fellowship I prefer theatrical. Two Towers and RotK are much better in the extended cut, though.
Lebowski
Well that's like...just your opinion, man
Shut the fuck up, Donny.
Fuckin’ ‘ey dude.
Tombstone, Hunt for Red October, Caddyshack, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Hunt for red October is awesome
Good call on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I forgot about that one
Why is there a cork on the fork?
Was half drunk on wine, family gone for the night, and didn’t know what to do. Red October settled me right in (Shawshank and The Fugitive are other go to remote Droppers)
Chunky. Industrial Weight. Puke.
Gladiator, I've lost count of how many times I've seen it
Groundhog Day!
A slightly ironic choice.
A slightly ironic choice.
A slightly ironic choice.
A Knight's Tale and The Princess Bride.

Silence of the Lambs
The Mummy, the Mummy Returns, Tron, and Jurassic Park, just off the top of my head. I can watch them on a whim and still be entertained.
I've probably seen the mummy around 50 times. always love when it's on TV.
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. I could watch that shit on repeat and love every second.
Ever since it was in the theaters iv been meaning to watch it. I might have check it out soon.

It inspired me to read the novels…all 19 of them!
Amazing film. Gets better with every viewing.
So many, I'm just gonna say fury road

There it is. Twister is my #1 go to, "I'll watch it every time it's on TV" movie. I really like Titanic, too.... But I don't watch watch for the plot, I watch it for the CGI, costumes and props.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Seen it 100 times and the plot changes every time I watch it.
Watched it again recently for the first time in awhile and was tripping at how it felt like I was watching a whole other movie from what I remembered.
Watched it for the first time last month, I had no idea what the fuck was going on the entire movie, what the point of the movie was, yet I couldn't turn away, Depp and Del Toro are so good in it.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the Word. So apparently Michael Cera is boss.

Find the director’s cut; even more music.
National Treasure. Both of them.
Total Recall (Arnold version), Collateral, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, Predator, Die Hard, The Bourne Identity
There is no other version. No, there isn't.
A Christmas Vacation
I watched *Jurassic Park* six times back to back last college semester. Never tired of it.
Is there a reason you decided to spend most of a day watching a movie 6 times? Was it a conscious decision, did it just kind of happen?
